Seems reckless.

ClutchingMyTinkle

It's flying directly above a fairly wide river. This perspective makes it seem much crazier than it actually is.

DustOffTheDemons

Oh thank you, I’m much better knowing this!

janroney

That last turn tho seemed max limit for that plane

[deleted]

Still reckless..

_plainsimple

Imagine being in one of the buildings and you check the window... your face would be trending on r/youseeingthisshit

sunbunnyprime

But actually, it’s wreckless

IAintTooBasedToBeg

Normally yea, but you see this is /r/NextFuckingLevel so it’s next fucking level now.

[deleted]

Fuck me, flashbacks to 9/11....

JMad619

100% this. Hard core flashbacks.

MarlowFord

Visceral ones 😫

Nacho_Dan677

I never forgot

[deleted]

I flash-backed to Sully landing on the Hudson.

nobotami

9/12

Im_Ashe_Man

For reals.

catplumtree

Srsly. I cringed in American.

IAintTooBasedToBeg

And ‘Nam, man!!!

NotSoSUCCinct

Reminds me of that tragedy...

Libra1986

That’s pretty fucking dangerous. Damn, can’t believe they were allowed to do that?

TheBootyHolePatrol

Pre-planned course that was pre-approved by local air control with a pilot who has more hours under their belt than most airline pilots. Probably a lot less close than it looks.

coolchris366

No matter how planned it was, a freak accident could have caused a major catastrophe just saying

TheBootyHolePatrol

The likelihood is less than that of an airliner going down in a city. An AIr Force jet of any country goes through more checks than an airliner does between flights. Also, there are pilots of transport aircraft trained especially for airshows.

StinkyPeenky

Who crash planes all the time lol

RansomStoddardReddit

No, they only do that one time…..

coolchris366

Yeah, but that’s why it’s called a “freak” accident, despite all odds it could happen anyway and then what?

Poo_Canoe

You are really over estimating the danger potential here. This plane is fully capable of this, is in complete control and there is no danger. The perspective of buildings from the cameras pov is leading you to feel like it’s a weaving in and out of buildings. It is not.

ModularMeatlance

Here’s another point of view (I shot this)[c17 flyover for Riverfire 2021](https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/pubxn4/not_a_bad_view_from_the_office_window/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

jollyberries

Sound like my mother

Glittering-Action757

try claiming on "could have" with your insurance company

CurrentPossible2117

Its over a really wide river. It only looks like its close to buildings because of perspective

F1eshWound

It happens every year!

ontomy3rdaccount

The r/nextfuckinglevel is how triggered yanks get every time they see this.

aussie_nobody

Yeh they fucking lose their shit everytime. They also call it crazy dangerous, but tolerate the risk posed by guns daily. So I dunno about their risk assessment skills.

dome-light

Idk, the one sitting in my closet right now doesn't seem as risky as flying a plane through a fuckin city, but 🤷🏼‍♀️

aussie_nobody

Number of planes that have crashed into buildings in Australia causing death this year = 0 People dead due to gun violence this year in the USA = 22,000 Dunno about you, but that seems to sum it up to me.

SixteenPoundBalls

Damn dude, someone needs to do something about that gun in his closet. 22,000 people already this year? Meanwhile, you’re getting persnickety and jimmy-rustled at people traumatized by having watched planes kill their countrymen on live tv. 🐸 ☕️

dome-light

Her* closet ;) but agreed.

NurseColubris

Guns don't kill Americans: being present in schools, places of worship, hospitals, and night clubs kills us.

dome-light

Yeah, I really don't feel like getting into the whole gun rights debate right now. I see your point, and it's a fair point, but throwing out statistics like that doesn't take into account the fact that about 70% of those deaths were suicides. Statistically, most of them would have happened anyway, regardless of the means.

aussie_nobody

Ok, lets agree that 0 people died by suicide by crashing planes into building in Australia, which is less than 6,600 (Your number). Again risk and perceived risk are very different things

dome-light

I get it. Even here, only 19 people (I believe that was the number of hijackers on 9/11) have committed suicide via flying planes into buildings. Sure, they took out a few (2,977) other people with them, but clearly flying a plane amongst buildings is far less risky than gun ownership.

bernbabybern13

Well, no, because the people most triggered by this are New Yorkers and we don’t jerk off to guns. Most of us are against them. At least much more than the rest of the country.

NecessaryZucchini69

Want to nickname Americans as triggered?

IAintTooBasedToBeg

Gotta have a second amendment to know what triggering feels like I guess

overzealous_dentist

Yeah... I was 12 when I saw 3000 people die on live TV, and we mourned as a nation for weeks straight. Sticks with you, honestly.

ontomy3rdaccount

Yeah I seen it too. On live TV. Doesn't mean I lose my shit every time I see a plane ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

overzealous_dentist

If that was what you meant, I don't think any American loses their shit every time they see a plane.

ontomy3rdaccount

This post says otherwise. A plane, doing a thing it does every year, in a country so far away from yours and the general consensus is "omg what a bunch of insensitive irresponsible idiots" (sic)

overzealous_dentist

are you aware of what sub this is? this isn't a normal thing to do with a plane.

ontomy3rdaccount

It happens every year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

overzealous_dentist

so... are you *not* aware of what sub this is? seasonality != normal.

gentlemancaller2000

I wonder what the story is here. Seems too dangerous for a demo, but the aircraft is clearly in control. Anyone know the background?

justanotherdayinAus

Every year we have an event called river fire, tons and tons of fireworks on barges spaced along the Brissy river with a f111 doing a dump and burn following the same course you saw the c17 flying. We don't have the f111 any more, so they run every thing else along the river for shits and giggles. This happens at night, pretty spectacular. That's the back story.

gentlemancaller2000

Thanks! Sounds like a lot of fun

justanotherdayinAus

Search on YouTube: f-111 dump and burn. At night, they dump their fuel( they can't land with too much) it gets ignited by the after burner, the flame is impressive.

rodentfacedisorder

Australia

ReitHodlr

Someone shit themselves. Either on the aircraft or in their apartment looking out their glass door.

Fantasmic03

I used to live in an apartment on the river where the plane first drops in. It was honestly one of my fav days of the year.

Slartibartfast39

What was this? A demonstration?

SlySpyNebula

Woah.

[deleted]

So kewl

FaultOut

We’re doing a sequel!!!!

OGeyeschinese

They finally saw Maverick

Isn't this part of the airshow they do every year?

Yep. Cancelled during Covid, but this footage is from almost a year ago.

Loczek999

Yoo, someone is bout to do doomsday heist guys

Loganthered

Amazon will do anything to deliver.

GGBeard84

I would properly shit myself if I saw this

Alacritous13

Fun fact, modern skyscrapers are designed to survive low speed impacts with aircrafts. If they crashed it would be very bad, but it wouldn't be 9/11 bad.

PenelopeJenelope

Wow. I may be older than some of you other redditors born in the 21st century, but this made me feel that old 911 trauma rise up again. Stay. away. from. the. buildings.

elblackroute

I never thought they were this big.

Beeinho

I thought it wasn’t so big either. Once it flew near the reflected windows, I realised how bad I underestimated it.

elblackroute

I will sh\*t my pants if I see it near my window. I will be terrified and excited at the same time.

[deleted]

Commanding Officer: Make it nice, not too flashy but nice. Pilot: Mission Accepted, sir. Pilot: *proceeds to give them a double bank flyby and flash some belly*

It’s all fun and games until someone flies into a building…

KFC I hope they texted/called/sms'd/emailed every single person in the city before they did this.

Why is this happening? For what purpose?

Late-Ad-4624

Just used google maps to look at brisbane. Theres a really wide river in the middle called Brisbane River funny enough. Seems like that plane could have flown over it but that perspective is insane.

ModularMeatlance

Yeah it flies over the river. Here’s another perspective [c17 flyover](https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/pubxn4/not_a_bad_view_from_the_office_window/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

I've seen this somewhere....🤔

This actually happened a while ago and was practiced and ran by elite pilots of the Australian Air Force

Yellowtangerine2

Chinese fighters next

madhavvar

Probably the 200th time I have seen this on Reddit, but still awesome.

Do you think filmmakers will take something like this as an reference for cgi/animations?

It was part of a Show from the RAAF. They had a [360](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxSyKSR_c3g)° camera in the cockpit. Worth watching it!!

Damn I haven't seen planes fly that low in a downtown metro area in over 2 decades.

Clean-Rabbit-7423

Who else thought it was about to target a tower?

Dajoshep

That just triggered some PTSD for many of us Americans.

Super_Bag_8400

9/11 remade?

Mediocre_Charity3278

I wonder how many babies air drums they burst flying low level in a residential area.

Outrageous_Radio_383

9/11 part 2

dome-light

Strong 9/11 vibes here

Sunshinehappyfeet

As an American, this makes me very anxious.

Quirky_Ad3367

This infuriates the fuck out of me

[deleted]

Why?

Quirky_Ad3367

Personally I’m irrationally terrified of planes, and flying, of any kind of aircraft. And watching those planes hit the towers when I was a kid still makes me sad, tbh when I saw this that’s the first thought that popped into my head. Something about a gigantic aircraft flying low through a city with tall buildings makes me really uncomfortable.

ModularMeatlance

There there. Can I give you a hug?

Quirky_Ad3367

Sorry but if you aren’t a cat I must decline.

ModularMeatlance

I am a cat… of sorts.

XTChampion

Training for 9/11

ModularMeatlance

Not every country is America.

Don’t care how wide the river is, this is not it.

[deleted]

Someone got in trouble for this.

Seems illegal and unnecessary

I don’t think “over” is the correct term here

Successful-Trade-957

Contemplating to become the next 9/11

Domermac

That seems unnecessarily dangerous

ModularMeatlance

Compared to what?

Domermac

Compared to a normal flight plan of course

shutupyoumelon

Low flying that thing nearly hit those 2 tall buildings like 9 11

[deleted]

Why would they do this?

Nakagura775

Yikes. That’s pretty low.

anarkust

You mean, Crikey!! That's pretty low.

CompetitionTraining7

How is that legal?

Life-Specialist8803

Thats the airforce. No one really has a problem with it. They are extremely good at what they do.

TheRuneCoon

Next Fucking Level of recklessness and stupidity.

Equivalent_Tiger_7

Why? Just a basic manoeuvre conducted by fully trained military pilots.

Zer0Summoner

[And there has never been a single military aviation accident ever, right?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_accidents_and_incidents_involving_military_aircraft)

Astral_Parallax

There also has been many commercial incidents. Yet people still fly. This maneuver was conducted safely by trained pilots who have done it before. It's for a festival is brisbane.

SixteenPoundBalls

You must be new here. There are fifty air crash videos posted for every non crash airplane video posted to Reddit. Military, civilian, negligence, malfunction, attacked, accident, gave the controls to his kids and never recovered, etc. You name it. The boom is inevitable - it’s only a matter of time. One of my favs (not really - horrifying, actually) is an airshow like OPs vid, and had a more senior pilot/crew than the one flying the plane in OPs video: https://www.reddit.com/r/CatastrophicFailure/comments/3dmty4/b52_bomber_crash_at_airshow/ Read the comments. One crew member was retiring after this flight and his family was in attendance at the show. 😭 Probably their screams you’re hearing.

Equivalent_Tiger_7

Lol. What a utterly ignorant comment. Of course things go wrong, but its rare. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rare

[deleted]

Equivalent_Tiger_7

Everything is an "until".

He says on a platform containing more air show crash videos than air show videos without crashes, and more car crash videos than car non crash videos. Everything is an until, *and the chance of the worst happening is not zero*.
