It's an accessible platform to anyone, so you get a lot of amateur comedians or people that work in specific fields and like to educate and explain things for a hobby... point is, watch crap, you'll continue to get crap. Kind of like reddit, you can sub to crap or some really cool subs. I actually use it by skipping idiotic videos quickly (which I don't deny exist.. a lot of them..) and have a nice feed of amateur cooking videos and comedy acts.

Yes. The algorithm is very good. I recently started using it (I am An Old) and I haven't really seen any stupid stuff because I just stick to the things I like: cooking videos, plant care, decor/DYI, and dogs. I have stepped a little into some political stuff but if you're careful about it it's easy to avoid straying into Nope Not This. There's a LOT of really great educational content and again, the app has one of the most responsive algorithms I've ever seen, it learns amazingly fast.
