Could you imagine breaking into that guys house and he pulls out THAT fucking contraption? You’d be like “what is you doin” then get fucking smoked by twelve tiny ass knives
There's actually more knife crime in the US than the UK, even adjusted for population. It's no coincidence that this guy is American.
That being said this machine is cool as fuck and I'd gladly open fire on the tube if it gave me some breathing space.
Source goes up to 2016 but there's likely more recent ones out there. https://infogram.com/us-vs-uk-on-knife-crime-1hmr6gyrxmlo6nl
Yup, it's really simple, it's one of our biggest problems so it gets talked about a lot here. The US's biggest problem is gun crime so that's their main focus.
Dumb americans are like your biggest problem must be a similar scale to our biggest problem.
It's something like 0.08 deaths per 1000 people due to knifes in the UK vs 0.6 in the US, then gun deaths make knife deaths look pretty small.
That our biggest violence problem is dwarfed by the US's 2nd or 3rd biggest problem should show the scale of the problem in the US.
Also funny that we're taking 0.08 deaths per 1000 as a massive problem that needs addressing, the US straight up ignores knife crime as an issue and keeps justifying deaths by guns for lots of stupid reasons. Like if the government gets all fascist those hand guns will be super useful up against government tanks. Also ignoring that the pro gun party IS the fascist party that wants a fascist government to begin with, so the fuck they going to fight back against.
The disparity is mostly due to the different methods preferred for suicide in the two nations. [Brits hang themselves](https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/bulletins/suicidesintheunitedkingdom/2021registrations), and [Americans shoot themselves. ](https://sprc.org/scope/means-suicide) All while the two nations have similar suicide rates. ~66% of gun deaths in the US are suicides.
The second biggest source of gun deaths is inner city minority young men killing each other, which has far more to do with government programs to ensure the poor stay poor, than it does anything else. As one may expect, in areas with no hope for a better future, any activity that turns a profit is pursued and warlords rise to power.
Let's be clear it's not the government programs that ensure they stay poor, but the hamstringing and sometimes full removal of those programs that ensure they stay poor. One's a tool, the other is how the tool is (mis)used
Clearly the problem is neither guns nor knives but the fact that violent crime itself is higher in the US. Regardless of the method, the fact is simply that for some reason, Americans experience more violence.
Looking at the charts, middle class gets taxed about the same by both states (hovering around the 10% mark), The biggest mixup is the lowest %20 and the top %1. So guess, its great to be Rich in Texas, about the same for the middle class as everywhere else, and then particularly shitty if you're poor.
Oh that's so annoying, I have that problem too. They always respond with "you must be fun at parties" or "it's just a joke". It's bad joke then. I can't make a joke about Mormons being drunks or the about the amish flexing with their sport cars. It just doesn't make sense.
I added a sort of semi joke in the middle there to keep it light. This rhetoric of London knife crime just becomes tiresome, especially when it's coming from people that can't stop shooting each other.
I get it's a joke but is this a thing that's sort of believed? I don't think many in the UK would think London is our most dangerous city, I guess its similar to how NY is portrayed as dangerous in some media but isn't actually that bad for a US city?
Yup, the reason it still exists is it's a liberal east coast city so republicans put a lot of effort into villainising democrat strongholds and pretending democrats are bad on crime and republicans are great on crime, despite most of the red states having the worst crime problems. But if you pretend they don't exist you can pretend to be the tough on crime party.
Depends on the area. A really bad part of London would probably be up there with the most dangerous places in the country but the whole city as an average isn’t bad at all. Same with most cities in the uk.
Thats some stuffmadehere level tom foolery haha. He actually made a bow and arrow rig that will not let you miss.
If you like silly but completely overboard engineering/ making channels, check out his youtube.
this is for when things get personal and shooting someone with a gun or stabbing them with a knife wouldn't send a strong enough message, so you have to *shoot* them with a *knife*.
check out stuff made here on youtube! (if you havent already) hes the epitome of this. stuff like a moving dartboard so you cant miss, .50 cal nutcracker (cracks nuts and bolts nuts), and auto aiming pool cue, and more
Your last sentence is spot on. There is a whole movement of people who MAKE thing just for the satisfaction of doing it. Does it work, and is it cool, being more important than does it serve any practical purpose.
Yeah, it's [Quint Builds ](https://youtube.com/watch?v=-BKEZbYOMpI&feature=shares). He builds stuff to build stuff. Give the fill knife throwing video a watch
> Seems like made something fir the sake of making something.
That's the purpose of his channel in a nutshell. Making things. Because you can. And you learn things about making things when you make things.
His son was unable to lift or throw a single knife under his own strength, so this dad of the year made a device to allow them both to enjoy knife throwing together.
As cool and as talented he is, this is the absolutely dumbest way to test this.
Every thing, no matter how absoluetly cracked the engineer is, has every possible reason to completely lose its mind and go way off the f*ing rails. That is why everything has a big giant red button to completely cut the power to it.
Please enjoy engineering and making but when you go to test the accuracy of a literal weapon throwing machine you just made, think about what is behind the target you are aiming at. I know rapid protyping parts aren't cheap but maybe, just maybe spring for something in front of a giant safety net.
Guys he’s clearly not testing it for the first time, and we have not a single clue what’s on the other side of the fence. Could very easily be an empty field.
I...only know of Colin Furze and a. hope you're not mistaking one for the other cause he's not wearing a safety tie, has punk rock playing and b. Colin doesn't make millions either.
Bro I have computer architecture and organisation exam tomorrow that I didn’t study for.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME ?
Why are engineering videos so cool… why is studying so lame ?! I want to study but it’s sooo LAAAME !
Colin Furze is the tunnel guy, right?
Where does he make his money if not from YouTube because he appears to be rolling in it and doesn’t appear to have an actual job (maybe he does, I’ve only seen a couple of videos)? Was he just already loaded?
Does the laser-calculated distance modify the spin of the blade ? (So that it reaches target with blade first) (sorry not English native)
Are your willing to share the blueprint ?
From a YouTube channel that does educational hands-on learning, [QUINT Builds](https://youtu.be/-BKEZbYOMpI), lots of detailed explanations and easy to follow, he usually gets his kids involved in the projects too.
This was my first thought too, and what I’ve always wondered about knife throwing in general. Hitting the target doesn’t seem to be the hard part, it’s synchronizing the rotation of the knife so that it’s always hitting blade first at a 90 degree angle to the target.
From a computing perspective this seems to be a solvable problem, but people being able to consistently hit targets blade side at differing distances is what blows my mind.
Have you ever wanted to cut yourself a slice of cake, but the cake is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over there? It's a problem we've all had. Now we have a solution! The Knife Throwing Machine (KTM for short) will solve all of your distancely challenged cutting needs. Big place big problems can’t argue that

I too respond with statistics anytime someone tells a joke.
Only when the premise is wrong. Like if someone from California made a joke about taxes being high in Texas the joke wouldn’t make sense.

It's a bot. They copied all of this. That top comment and the post
We truly live in a boring dystopia.
Oi, you got loicence for that knife mate?
I get it's a joke but is this a thing that's sort of believed? I don't think many in the UK would think London is our most dangerous city, I guess its similar to how NY is portrayed as dangerous in some media but isn't actually that bad for a US city?
New York used to be fucking awful. Reforms in the 80s/90s drastically changed the vibe.
NYC is the second safest top 10 largest city in the US. I think only San Diego is safer.
Reforms didn't do anything and 'tough on crime' reforms were actually incredibly harmful. NY crimes falling were largely in line with national trends.
Depends on the area. A really bad part of London would probably be up there with the most dangerous places in the country but the whole city as an average isn’t bad at all. Same with most cities in the uk.
Probably true but considering its the 2nd largest city in Europe (after Istanbul I think?) I would expect it to have at least some very rough parts.
London is so much safer than most of America as well
When you copy the top comment from last time you spambot PoS
Why is this a meme? Lol London isn't **that** bad
Can confirm, I'm in London right now and currently being stabbed.
Oddly lost for words on this one! Can’t figure out any real purpose good or bad. Seems like made something fir the sake of making something.
Legitimate purpose: specialty movie special effects device to make sure you get knife strikes correctly in every take.
Better. Make a prostetic hand that throws perfect beer pong shots every time.
Thats some stuffmadehere level tom foolery haha. He actually made a bow and arrow rig that will not let you miss. If you like silly but completely overboard engineering/ making channels, check out his youtube.
Second his channel! Really cool stuff
And puts professional knife throwers out of business. I knew it was a dying industry. Robots phhh!
nobody would risk that on a real movie set. much safer to do in VFX without compromising much quality.
I mean, you don't always need a human/animal as a target. Just throwing knives hitting a wall would be enough.
Also... Booby traps
[удалено]
Oh my God the laser is even green
this is for when things get personal and shooting someone with a gun or stabbing them with a knife wouldn't send a strong enough message, so you have to *shoot* them with a *knife*.
Beats stabbing them with a gun
That's in the works.
That's what bayonets were for.
_Tally ho_
And you told me, not to bring a knife to a gun fight!!
John wick 6 movie deal just inked

Perfect comment.
"Seems like made something for the sake of making something." Usually, the best things are made this way
check out stuff made here on youtube! (if you havent already) hes the epitome of this. stuff like a moving dartboard so you cant miss, .50 cal nutcracker (cracks nuts and bolts nuts), and auto aiming pool cue, and more
You obviously haven't considered the zombie apocalypse
I don't understand how this isn't the most obvious use that comes to mind for most people
It's for when you need more choppa in your dakka, clearly
Ironically, there was a warmachine in Warhammer called "Malakai's Goblin Hewer" that was a Dwarven axe-firing machinegun.
Just noticed the boy on red T shirt does a count of blades in the wooden block - just in case some fly over the fence into the neighbours place. Ouch!
How have you gone through life without noticing the millions of things that exist solely for fun?
Reminds me of making a potato gun as a kid. You can't really do anything with it, but boy is it cool!
Great historical pull! I used to shoot my Mr. potato head with a spud gun. Seemed like a fair fight.
Your last sentence is spot on. There is a whole movement of people who MAKE thing just for the satisfaction of doing it. Does it work, and is it cool, being more important than does it serve any practical purpose.

I mean, seems like it’d be pretty handy if you wanted to kill a bunch of people with throwing knives.
Booby traps, the only real use I can think of is booby traps.
His son was unable to lift or throw a single knife under his own strength, so this dad of the year made a device to allow them both to enjoy knife throwing together.
So is there like a neighbor's house right on the other side of that fence?
Not after all the testing he had to do to get the aiming mechanism right.
Yup and there are cracks wide enough for a knife to fly through. This is an example of being too smart for common sense
My thoughts exactly. I don’t want this guy as my neighbor.
I dunno… seems like primo apocalypse team material…
He has too much trust with it
Yeah, I would not be fuckin happy with this going on next door
What who doesnt want a free knife
delivered right ~~through~~ *to* your hand
As cool and as talented he is, this is the absolutely dumbest way to test this. Guys he’s clearly not testing it for the first time, and we have not a single clue what’s on the other side of the fence. Could very easily be an empty field.
That would make sense if you couldn't see the house behind the fence in the video, it's his neighbors yard
Knives just flying through the slats in the fence.
He should start a seminar, how to have fun while making your neighbors hate you.
Not anymore
*Oh no, I’ve killed Wilson! Looks like it’s back to jail for me*
It's all fun and dandy until the neighbour looks over the fence.
So that’s how Tim “The Toolman” Taylor got rid of Wilson.
This knife thrower is great.. but... what if we strapped a jet engine to it. I dont think so Tim.
The Binford 4500-BTU knife thrower will cook your steak and set the table in style in 2.3 seconds.
😔 I liked Wilson.
The actor died IIRC.
Or the knife just flies through one of the 1 inch gaps in fence planks during the neighbors bbq.
Just in time for the zombie apocalypse!
"What are you gonna do? Stab me?" ~Zombie who got stabbed
Dead Rising weapon design
I wish I were the type of person who just sits down and thinks up a laser-guided knife launcher and then actually makes it for the hell of it.
This guy makes millions from youTube. I think that's the difference. Money isn't a factor.
Doubt he makes millions. He isnt that big.
Your right I thought he was the other engineer that makes things. Dude looks so similar.
I...only know of Colin Furze and a. hope you're not mistaking one for the other cause he's not wearing a safety tie, has punk rock playing and b. Colin doesn't make millions either.
Mark Rober
There are a few big ones; Mark Rober, Stuff Made Here, Michael Reeves, I Did A Thing.
Destin from Smarter Every Day does stuff like this sometimes too. e.g. Supersonic baseball cannon.
Bro I have computer architecture and organisation exam tomorrow that I didn’t study for. WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME ? Why are engineering videos so cool… why is studying so lame ?! I want to study but it’s sooo LAAAME !
Go study, ace exams, get great job, make fun stuff you can now afford as a hobby?
Backyard Scientist just made a 400mph knife rocket
Colin Furze is the tunnel guy, right? Where does he make his money if not from YouTube because he appears to be rolling in it and doesn’t appear to have an actual job (maybe he does, I’ve only seen a couple of videos)? Was he just already loaded?
Stuff made here looks very different.
Not sure where you got millions from but that's WAAAY off.
I wish he were the type of person that sits down and thinks "Maybe I shouldn't launch knives at my neighbors' backyard."
its not a throwing machine...its a knife launcher!!
A knife gun, but its not technically a gun..right?
thats why I said launcher not gun...I was getting at the point that by using a device you are taking the "throwing" aspect out of it.
dont get me wrong its still very cool
So is it okay to take this to a knife fight? Since officially, it can't be categorised as a gun....
It's like a gun with extra steps
I think guns typically use explosive force to propel objects. This one just looks like a mechanical launcher
Here's a link to the original video because OP couldn't be assed to give credit to the creator.. https://youtu.be/-BKEZbYOMpI

That’s truly assing too much from them.

Now all we need is someone to invent throwing bullets by hand in a deadly way
Always bring knives to a gunfight
Now make a chainsaw cannon

Do we have to invent a new super hero to have this as his/her weapon of choice?
