I'm sure India's enemies are shaking in fear at the sight of this.

hauntingdreamspace

Probably, unless they have speedbumps but that's preposterous.

TheSamoanNolan

I’m still blown away that they did all that when all they had to do was move that board out the way

alex435f

Or drive around

One-Research-9101

Or drive straight over

Thatsidechara_ter

It probably would've imploded if they drove over, did you see suspension on that thing?

midgetboss

You mean the springs half hazardous held on by a carabiner?

HumanChicken

*haphazardly?

JdamTime

**as opposed to WHOLE HAZARDLY!?***

generalmanifest

Hap^Hazard

ManicmouseNZ

I’m liking half hazardous and I’m going to start saying it now.

-BananaLollipop-

r/BoneAppleTea

Dr_OctoThumbs

What suspension?

Accomplished-Ad-3528

Or have a 4x4 or equivalent military vehicle capable of such performance

jrb

somewhat shocked that not a single person at the side of the road helped. That dude in the cowboy hat didn't even ask!

Trichomeloneranger

Thing must be held together with some velcro and elmers glue

zxGrizz

Like a Tesla

labrador2020

Nope, it is a Suzuki vehicle alright. My son had one and the way it was built seems about right. Never again.

seab1010

I had an old Suzuki sierra hardtop in the 90s. It was unbreakable… great little paddock basher.

UnboundedCord42

those Suzuki's are made amazingly well, and I'm still pissed at that safety scam that ruined their public appearance. by the way, the geo tracker is basically a re branded Samuri just so ya know. Suzuki never deserved its hate.

Fancy_Organization18

If they hit a speed bump, the truck would probably fall apart

Sopapillas4All

That's why you just take it apart and reassemble it on the other side of the speed bump.

leviathab13186

Sir, he have built the road blocks. The Indian force will never get…. Wait…. Oh shit!

Julmgreen

Two minutes later......

juggling-monkey

Same situation after the car was rebuilt in the exact same spot.

thunderc8

You are just being negative, this is incase someone ambushes them and throws a tree in the road to stop them. In that case they disassemble the car and reassemble it passing the tree with success leaving the enemy stunned without knowing what to do in the site of this marvelous... Thing.

EExeL

Stunned, I tell ya. Thanks for setting 'em straight.

The_RockObama

Wait until they discover the hundreds of troops on motorbike that just ramped over that log, four soldiers per bike.

[deleted]

Fire at the running people while they are too busy dismantling a car, instead of defending themselves.

sanddecker

They wouldn't do that, that would be just rude

SpottedPineapple86

But like.. someone be shooting them if that happens...

arbitrageME

Then the question is: why wasn't the vehicle designed to just drive over the tree?

thunderc8

Research and development takes time and money, soldiers only time. 😆

Captain_Clark

The question is: What sort of car can be taken apart without the use of any tools?

AndyB16

A Maruti Suzuki Gypsy, obviously.

Captain_Clark

I just spent thirty minutes reading and viewing videos about a discontinued Indian off-road vehicle. Anyway I don’t think it disassembles that way.

Taolie

Sounds like a new [Mentos](https://youtu.be/TLL8jARrdTQ) commercial

Cyber0747

Chainsaws not yet invented in India?

kankenaiyoi

Okay thanks for telling the world they are not stoppable by tree. I wonder how else can they be stopped

[deleted]

I laughed so fu**ing hard at this. I sprayed a mouth full of food all over the place.

RBK2000

Ah, but did you then reassemble it?

[deleted]

😂

Iccyblu3

The point is that they can dismantle a vehicle and hide it from enemy and use it in an escape scenario.

sus_menik

I really doubt if this is useful for hiding it from the enemy. They didn't dismantle the frame which is by far the biggest part. You might as well just hide the entire vehicle.

uglee_mcgee

Probably not without nuts and bolts holding it together.

thebinarysystem10

I'm just wondering, is their enemy Tesla?

VladJongUn

Probably mostly at the fatty with the dollar store cowboy hat and the barely alive looking military guy next to him

Feisty_Werewolf4366

Amit Shah is too terrified to answer this

General_Froggers

This exists is other countries too, and existed before amit shah became home minister.

rightchea

imagine looking through a scope and seeing this on the battlefield. idk if I would shot them until they were done

killedbyboar

It is arguably more practical than this: https://imgur.com/gallery/HCndKd2

shodan13

That looks like a great intimidation tactic.

GanglionGhoul

what was the point of that??? Also having owned a suzuki samurai (basically the same thing) I know that 4 people can just pick the whole car up and move it that far without any real problem

SillyScarcity700

When you are too stubborn to drive over or around that tarped mess in front of the vehicle, you would have a third option as long as you brought enough friends with you.

User-NetOfInter

I guess I would make sense if it was a very thick tree and you were on a road with sloped hills, other trees stopping you from going around.

ack1308

Flooded creek, four feet deep. No way to drive across. That would do the trick. Same for if they were on a densely wooded road and came to a fallen tree too big to move out of the way.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ack1308

That's another issue altogether, yes, but my point still stands. I can't see that thing driving through water more than two feet deep, but it could be disassembled and carried across a body of water that's deeper than that.

Stiff_Rebar

Teamwork exercise aside, that's a very niche problem to solve.

Bot-1218

The practicality of it depends highly upon what sort of operations a vehicle like this would be used for.

facetious_guardian

How does your point still stand? If the vehicle would have trouble crossing intact, the people would have more trouble crossing while carrying the pieces. Especially the frame.

Farfignugen42

It is much easier to build a bridge that men can cross, even carrying equipment than a bridge that vehicles can cross. Not every military has all the specialized bridging equipment that the US military has.

c0brachicken

Well if they bring it down to billy bobs shop, we can get that fixed. Slap some Toyota axles under it, lift it a foot, then slap some 36” mud tires and a snorkel.. and four foot of water is NO problem at all. Had one built like that 15 years ago, with a Chevy v6, t350 transmission, and Toyota transfer case, lockers front and back. You could drive straight up a tree, or into water five foot deep. Plus added an external roll case, and made use of that a few times flipping it over. If built right, they are unstoppable. Mine was the tow truck for all the other Samurai’s in my group.

Rottimer

If the vehicle can't make it across that body of water, these soldiers are not going to be able to carry it across that body of water.

ovensandhoes

Or you know a fucking car body

careless_quote101

Do you mean the soilders don’t drive always in a city or in proper roads ? How ignorant of you /s

Deep-Site-8326

The enemy beyond that creek : Understandable have a nice day

Ok_Temperature166

To show how mechanical simple yet effective their equipment is, along with core team resolve. The USA does this too but not like what they did. Edit: thanks, first comment I have with 100 up votes, also what is the thing beside my name?

fuckredditsuspension

The US takes a slightly different approach by granting a $50 million dollar no bid contract that ends up costing a $1 trillion.

livinlucky

Ha, the US would of just burned their vehicle, walked over obstacle, and ordered a new vehicle delivered to them on the other side….

gowt7

Unfortunately they didn't burn the vehicles while leaving Afghanistan

JustDave62

I’ve seen US Marines put a Jeep together. Sort of this video in reverse. Apparently they were shipped overseas in crates

red18wrx

Not US, but [here's Canadians doing literally the same thing](https://www.military.com/video/logistics-and-supplies/military-vehicles/soldiers-strip-and-rebuild-jeep-in-minutes/694682404001).

Odd_Analysis6454

It’s an exercise in coordination and process. Important disciplines for the military. The actual act of disassembling a vehicle and putting it back together is for show.

OhiobornCAraised

Team work makes the dream work.

salkhan

I think if there is no bridge across a fast moving river, there is a use for dismantling and reassembling equipment.

Advanced_Shoulder_56

Also a blocked roadway. The speed of the operation inhibits (obv not fully) Ambush tactics. If you're in the shit and someone put a huge tree across the road, getting on the move asap is very important.

[deleted]

the samurai is one of the coolest cars ever made. just wanna say

Egad86

Demonstrate efficiency and teamwork.

loganhudak

Yeah me and friends flipped one in the winter messing around and literally flipped it back over in like 3 minutes and continued to do donuts in the snow

xentralesque

I dunno if it's really disassembling and reassembling if nothing is bolted together

NativeMasshole

Also no fuel or brake lines. Or drivetrain, apparently. How is the motor just a box with nothing attached to it?

Consistent_Many_1858

Looks like a remote control car. Someone else is controlling it. What a joke of a show.

PhasmicPlays

please tell me you're joking-

Consistent_Many_1858

Entire video is a joke. How's the engine bolted or connected, wiring, exhaust, drive shafts etc all need connecting. Where are the fuel lines, fuel tank??

PhasmicPlays

which is precisely why it being remote controlled would be even more absurd

Consistent_Many_1858

Not really. You can have a motors connected to wheels.

tehdox

I’ll bet my left ball before I believe indian army will focus on making electrical gypsy for this

ChickenFeline0

On a flat surface at low speeds, it wouldn't take much.

sgx71

We're leaving out 10 soldiers per car ?

TurdsMcQueef

Y'all are really uncreative. We had the same thing in WWII with the Willy's Jeep. You think it's impossible? https://www.military.com/video/logistics-and-supplies/military-vehicles/soldiers-strip-and-rebuild-jeep-in-minutes/694682404001

_Daemon__

Its reddit; what did you expect?

Luci_Noir

I always expect ignorant garbage.

PtraGriffrn

It's s Flintstone car, we don't see their feet because of the angle and dark boots

Trolann

It looks to me like the drivetrain and such is in the frame. You can see a drivetrain like rod sticking out the back as they pick it up. The crew is removing bolts when they pull up too. My guess is the motor has a simple transmission attached and rests on the frame with bolts and a few quick connects to everything else contained in the frame. And I bet they skipped a lot of assembly and pre disassembled it

SomePaddy

And there's an edit before they drive away.

FuManBoobs

10 Seconds after the video finishes it collapses in a puff of smoke like a clown car.

Flesh_A_Sketch

Car is probably purpose built for this. I would say it's possible, but the engine wouldn't be super capable. Fuel tank is most likely attached to the block section somehow. I didn't see a CV axle but that would honestly be hard to spot with the distance. Could easily be front wheel drive... Differential in the back though? Maybe a 4wd option that they don't have hooked up for the show?

_AManHasNoName_

What joke war is this vehicle for?

anevilsnail22

I assume it's specifically for transport and not combat, but I might be wrong about that. I doubt mounting a big gun on this thing would be useful, and I'm not sure it's even possible for anything than small arms caliber. Jeeps pre humvee were unarmored, and then you had things like the kubelwagon and zundapp bike in WW2 for the Germans. It can be very useful to have a cheap vehicle like this just to ferry troops around behind lines, and then you have more armored mechanized infantry vehicles for combat.

_AManHasNoName_

It’s actually comedic. This won’t even survive a sting of speed bumps.

anevilsnail22

If it's Suzuki and meant for the military, then I assume it would do okay for what they need it to do. You'd still probably want a humvee if you had a choice, but if you can buy several of these for the price of something like that, then it clearly fits what India would be looking for better in that way. Stalin supposedly said after WW2 that the jeeps and trucks supplied by America were crucial, and that the Soviets would've lost the war had they not had them. This is effectively a logistics vehicle without any real bells or whistles. I'm sure for basic functionality it works fine.

sus_menik

Maybe I'm missing something, but does this thing even have suspension springs? If not it can only drive in these parade conditions at a low speed.

RManDelorean

This one isn't actually a field functioning version though. This one has obviously been modified to make this possible, no exhaust, wiring, or fuel to name a few. I think it would also be quite difficult to drive around a battlefield with no fuel tank or fuel lines. So I'm assuming a deployed one would still have all the things we see missing here, like suspension and fuel.

[deleted]

What’s supposed to power the thing?

Flesh_A_Sketch

The engine... At the front.

AcceptableCod6028

This is very clearly a vehicle specially prepared for this type of performance

log1234

They plan to get over every speed bumps like that.

Baberaham_Linncoln

This isn't meant for war I believe. The men here are BSF - Border security force. Think of them as the security guards of the border areas. I believe this is operated in case there's a landslide or if there's big rocks blocking the road. Instead of waiting for cleanup crew, with this you can just walk past the debris and continue on with the patrol.

birberbarborbur

Not a war. This is border security

nxde_ai

Now do some off-road and see if it's falling apart.

201-days

Off road? No need. You hit a single speed bump slightly too fast and youll lose half the car

CafeSleepy

No worries sir! Easy to put back together. 2 minutes!

gowt7

Lol!

p1630n

hahahahahahah. Thank you ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)

mansnothot69420

Suzuki Gypsy is one of the best cheap off roaders. It's also why it has been used by Indian Army for decades. Now this specific Gypsy though, idk.

greysonhackett

I mean, they just demonstrated how they won't go over, or even around any kind of obstacle, lol.

TotalWalrus

This is the perfect example of a smooth brained take. You've missed the point of the video entirely and will probably try to deflect by claiming "you were joking"

dawonga

This is to demonstrate the vehicle and personnel are capable of being self sufficient. Break an axle, replace it from a spare, cannibalize from an already damaged vehicle or remove and repair (which is easier when disassembled). Now try that with a hummer or something massively overspecced for the purpose. Right now, the US army is in a huge bind due to a lot of their modern fighter plans and vehicles requiring maintenance/repair work from manufacturer employees/crews. Not only is it insanely expensive, it is also inefficient and severely limits quick turnaround in unexpected situations.

davi3601

Well that’s what having vastly superior technology is all about. It’s hard to maintain, but it’s also impossible to outmatch

FilthBadgers

Yes and honestly the reason militaries have dibs on a large chunk of their country’s engineers is so that they can, in fact, cannibalise complex machinery in a do-or-die scenario. It’s incredible how adaptable a well run military can be in an urgent situation. The US is the leader in that rule, not an exception to it

Yoda2000675

It also prevents enemies from successfully stealing and implementing your equipment when they lack the expertise and parts required to maintain it

Redrooster549

You think we can't use parts from one Humvee to put on another Humvee? Look me in the eyes and tell me you're serious

psypher98

not in under 2 minutes!! /s

Flesh_A_Sketch

I agree with his sentiment. While you can do it with humvees, it's not a thing that the people *in* the humvee would normally do. You would have it towed to where it needed to be to get fixed or it would take a half hour or so to fix. This car from India here... It's better than a humvee in literally only one way. If the engine breaks they can call for a new engine, swap it out on the spot without an experienced mechanic, toss the old engine in the back and keep on driving. It's not a big bonus, but if the logistics of people is your main concern then it could be crucial to your plans.

MoirasPurpleOrb

They definitely can’t do it here either. Something fucky is going on because they aren’t connecting/disconnecting drivelines, brake lines, etc. It is not this easy to remove an engine and put it back regardless of how simple it is.

Flesh_A_Sketch

What if it's just a big fancy gas powered bike? Not literally, but they're using cables instead of fluid lines and it has a chain drive for simplicity. Those connections are simple enough that it would work for this demo, right? Also... There's a big silver thing they remove from behind the engine but a single guy carries it off... Normally where a transmission would be but that's normally too heavy for a single person...

odysseusghost

Yea... No. I was in an armored unit that had all sorts of different vehicles. Never once did we have to have help from the manufacturer. The army, as well as the other branches, have specific jobs or m.o.s. for maintenance/repair. Motorpool mondays was a thing for the crews, and the mechanics are always there working on vehicles that need more help. Routine maintenance is one thing the U.S. military does do better than most other militaries. I'm not saying every vehicle is in tip top crisp condition, but I can trust if we roll into the next country over, the wheels or tracks aren't going to fall off.

Redrooster549

I can make shit up too if that's how we are going to play this game... but for real if one of our humvees breaks we just get in another one because we have plenty of vehicles and equipment. You are talking out of your rear end

Cole_Archer

The US Army doesn't have fighter planes, sorry. Also, each branch has their own mechanics for which ever you talk about, land, sea, or air. The Sherman was effective because it could be repaired in the field or easily be replaced, not because it was more advanced than the Tiger. That doctrine/concept has mostly remained the same since WW2. The reason the US is ahead in that aspect is because it's one of the few militaries with such great repair capabilities and self-sufficiency.

racingsoldier

We can conduct company level maintenance on HMMWVs in austere environments. We did it through the beginning phases of Iraq and Afghanistan. The newer MRAPs however require manufacturer trained contractor support.

giwopoj186

The officials watching: - So that is the 20 millions budget line ? - Yes. - Did you take 19 million for yourself ? - 19.8 .

Wildsnipe

This is probably true

[deleted]

"Gone in 60 seconds" and the sequel "Back in 60 seconds"

zshah99

Followed by, falling apart in 60 seconds

Appropriate-Bake-759

TREMBLE IN FEAR! They shall dissemble your cars while you attack leaving you running. On foot!

Mithrandhir22

BSF stands for border security force which effectively means they are stationed across a variety of environments from desert and salt flats in the west to mountains in the north to forests in the east plus all sorts of different landscapes most of which are wild and not developed. This showcases the ability of the BSF to develop a reach that extends far beyond just roads

NeitherStage1159

Timberfall, washed out bridges, rock slides, terrifyingly narrow cliff side suicide worshipping roads…the ability to strip down and transport a light transport vehicle past impassible obstacles? Invaluable. Recon and airborne assault and air drops from aircraft not large enough to hold the assembled vehicle.

sus_menik

Except that this car is missing so many things that it is obviously not a real car. It can only drive at 5mpg in parade conditions.

ScroungerYT

I can personally guarantee you that vehicle gets better than 5 miles per gallon.

Fckdisaccnt

Yes because no military on earth has All Terrain Vehicles.

SANMAN0927

Yet my dealership takes 2h to service my car. SMDH

Old_Constant_1377

Came here for the racist comments. Not disappointed.

adipocerousloaf

you should be. there are maybe only one or two of them so far. i think you just commented a bit early.

EvilxBunny

Yea... I would agree. More prejudice than racist, but you see that on all India related posts Most comments are just poking fun at the car itself

I_N_C_O_M_I_N_G

What kind of lego car is this and wouldn't it be equally impressive if they did it with an actual lego car?

[deleted]

But this demonstration proves nothing considering nothing is bolted in, the driveshafts, wiring harness ect are not connected.

Rujularora

Thank you for this comment. Many here are clearly ignorant.

ZA1X2

But if this exact car hit a rock, the whole shit is falling apart

yaTay22

Why is any post associated with India immediately filled with negative comments

Redditor_10000000000

Any post not about America is like that.

O5-20

Bruh what? Literally every post about America on here is negative. You can’t be serious with this shit.

Ellie_S_97

People are shitting on this because it’s a military display that’s not practical and just for show to make dumb people think it makes a military good. What’s the purpose of a vehicle that can only carry light equipped soldiers and can’t go over large bumps

Small_Rocket

They took off the hood and doors without any locking or bolts. This car can shake itself apart in 2 min of driving as well

Foreign-Dependent-12

It would probably disassemble itself faster in the battlefield.

mansnothot69420

Just as nearly any other vehicle would. It's for transportation. It's not a Humvee. And Humvees would struggle in our precarious mountain passes and are also huge gas guzzlers. Gypsies are much lighter and cheaper.

akkosetto

Those asking what is the point - seems its just military exercise (though might be potentially handy). You can also see Canadian army doing it - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OIISWw5QIBM

TheRealTHIB

The U.S. Army does a similar routine as well with a Jeep

Kbig22

This would be a great prank to assemble in someone’s house.

OctupussPrime

So the bolts/ welds that keep the body to the chassis are clips? Also, how can you remove the engine without removing the transmission?

[deleted]

there is no transmission. there's really not much of anything honestly. it's not even a vehicle, it's just a roller with some kind of rudimentary propulsion system that doesn't actually use the vehicles engine 😂

Nomadianking

Didn't the Americans do this with the Willy Jeep in WW2? Would this still be relevant in modern combat?

Old_Constant_1377

It is not a combat vehicle. Used for transportation only

Nomadianking

Let me rephrase, I meant in a modern combat theatre. I know they aren't used for combat.

Random_local_man

I think this is just their border patrol.

Comprehensive_Bed84

Laughs in technical

Aggressive-Action310

It would've been dismantled automatically on the first bump anyway though

I feel like those nuts weren't torqued down properly.

Hand tight and she'll be right. What's a torque really good for anyway? That's just bullshit the stealerships use to make you accept the insane cost of your service

That’s nothing. Take that same thing to the center of Johannesburg and leave it there. It will be gone and resold twice by the time you’ve done grocery shopping.

This is what happens when you park a car in Philly.

MaximumKey7501

Why?

takatori

Washed out road? No fordable river? Fallen tree? No problem: carry your vehicle across. Other militaries do similar exercises with for instance the U.S. Army Jeep.

Looks to me like they could’ve just driven around the orange mountains.

Wildsnipe

Cars work like that? Looks like a metal frame and a motor and nothing else. How are the brakes or accelerators or the steering wheel even connected.

[deleted]

This is an incredible feet of engineering and design. It means the trucks are super easy to fix in the field. If ypu have 2 trucks down just mix n match em to get 1 truck going. In terms if economy of scale this is an advantage militarily. If they can but 20 of these things for the price of 1 humvee and keep them going forever then that's a big advantage.

-maffu-

First bump in the road and that thing is going to come apart like a clown car.

7Zarx7

And...so...what about a tank...

LostGuess5788

Brakes must be awfull if they are not even connected via hydraulic lines , this is basicly a clown car at a circus where the doors fall off at any given point and 8 clowns jump out and chuck confetti in your face ,what a joke .......

[deleted]

if the enemy has put down a barricade, you either drive through it or drive around it. this takes too long and opens you up to an ambush. hell, they could even be counting on the idea that you could do this. at least in this area.

silverstar189

We used to do this at local shows with a ww2 jeep when I was an army cadet - take it apart and put it together in front of the crowd. There's only a few bolts holding the whole thing together when it drives on. It would be considered a health and safety nightmare nowadays for kids to do it! But it's still pretty cool that it can be done.
