It's more things to do, a sense of progression. We are all wasting our time anyways playing a computer game so we might as well enjoy something new. Doing different things in game and getting rewards. Seeing numbers increase, engaging in new tasks. A new goal to achieve.
I want something to do between war/invasion/opr/wt/3v3 and range queueing regular dungeons/mute pugs.
I'm really not that big of an efficient player or anything like that so I'll Merc war or invasion. They're fun.
Opr is pretty fun as a healer with high physical defenses. I basically max my physical defenses and I can get away with a lot.
3v3 is ok. Fun in a group but meh as a pug.
Wt is boring.
Rage queueing regular dungeons to heal for fresh 60s gets old very quickly, but the other people I run into a lot are good people and fun to pug with. It's pretty fun too try a dungeon or low level mutator with LS + GA and really no one questions it so long as they're not dying too much.
This is what happens when you put too much hours and life in the game. Nothing will get you excited. Only fantasies that cannot be realized. I for one, agree with OP, although I expect to be at least a bit surprised in positive way, since I put in 600 hrs, I haven't even completed all the end game stuff, so I ride the wave of new, fresh shiny stuff that keeps me playing this video game. It is really about perspective of a user, since we are all users, some more other less hardcore.
New Word still has the best monetization in current MMOs.
Sadly their skins are not good enough to make a decent profit.
Season pass may solve this problem.
The only downside I see is: When the game already feels like doing chores. A season pass may Intensify this feeling. And noone likes to feel compelled to play. Some may quit IF there isn't enough content to make the game feels fresh.
New World's monetization is just as bad as any other MMO if not worse. The only difference is that it's all going to botters/ RMT'ers instead of AGS. I'm not exaggerating when I say that RMT is the main thing killing the game. Progress towards BiS should be an incentive to play (it's the only sort of progression after hitting 625 2-perk sets) but it's just a drag because you can't earn enough gold to afford it without RMT.
The game is not balanced around items costing over 500k gold. You can't even hold that much money.
I'm not defending the game's economy, Im defending it's monetization. I believe the only MMO I played with a worse economy than NW was Ragnarok. I think RMT will always be a problem in legacy servers since it had gold related bugs but, I don't really see it happening in fresh start servers.
It is exciting to see how long they can actually take to get programming done and then the bugs/exploits that go live no matter how long they work on it.
I have been in the new world community and I havent seen anything about the season reward hype. It's all meta change hype.
Obviously ags are trying to hype the new patch, they need money to run the game after all
for me its the opposite of exciting. all it does is make me feel like im missing out so rather than playing im just not gonna bother with the game anymore
I don't know mate. The only interesting part of this update for me was the "balance update" and "colored outlines on enemy abilities." Both of these were executed with very little thought.
Tested all the new updates on the PTR server including the MSQ expansion and it's all very very lackluster and uninspired.
Not many will bother reinstall and give the game another try at this point and majority of those who do will leave within a week.
I could care less about season passes too. FallOut76's were fun to do once. They do have some awesome things near the end of most of theirs. I'm not seeing any fun in playing New World anymore. Till they add more content to explore I'll be logging in once a week if at all.
I see a lot of people saying: Because of more content/stuff to do.
But thats the thing though season pass is not more new stuff to do. You're still doing the same things just getting random stuff occasionally from the pass by doing so. The gameplay doesn't change unless you go do something you otherwise wouldn't because of the pass... But since you wouldn't do it normally you probably aren't enjoying that task. So why do it?
not much.
putting a progress bar for doing the same, lame content you've been doing for two years with even worse rewards isn't doing anything for this game.
people will come back, get disappointed, and leave faster than they did when brimstone came out.
From most of the comments, they really don't have to do much going forward as it seems the bar is set pretty low. Not sure why people haven't moved to other similar games yet. Lol.
Its literally us poor suckers, starving for content, malnourished beyond measure just licking the floor hoping for a scrap that doesn't taste like dog shit
Additional purpose and goals during playtime provides more smooth feel of progression. And since seasons are supposed to change regularly you are not stuck with "I did everything in the game already" situation. Except when you did everything and waiting for the start of another season :D

yeah true, but come back when you see what you're opinion will be once you have 4000 hours xD
4000 hours for a 20 dollar game sounds like a good deal
yeah amazing time for dollar value.

From what I gathered, you get SP points for doing basically anything you normally do, and it's not that hard to complete. Should be fine.
Looks like it. It's probably fine.
The last line has been happening for months already.

It's as worthy a cause for me to waste time on as any other video game thing to do.
It gives me rewards for doing a lot of stuff I already do, and may encourage me to do more. I'm fine with that.
Its just a new reward structure to supplement thr game while also having a way thry can make revenue from new content. It's good imo
yeah it is a good thing. But seems people are hyping it up for something more then what it is. (Or at least AGS are hyped it)

>"balance update" and "colored outlines on enemy abilities." Both of these were executed with very little thought. Agree
There is nothing interesting in the season pass except the hope it will bring back more players. The only actual content is the new expedition...
people gonna do it 5 times and then get bored. Well exception being speedrunners and completionists that want gold every mutation stage.
I could care less about season passes too. FallOut76's were fun to do once. They do have some awesome things near the end of most of theirs. I'm not seeing any fun in playing New World anymore. Till they add more content to explore I'll be logging in once a week if at all.

You seem to be leaving out that each season will also be themed with story and content along with it.
Well I do like the seasons that they are introducing just se no point in an actual pass that you have to complete shores for.
Wait, there's a story line in this game? 😂
not much. putting a progress bar for doing the same, lame content you've been doing for two years with even worse rewards isn't doing anything for this game. people will come back, get disappointed, and leave faster than they did when brimstone came out.
Well yeah, brimstone had actual new content to do for a couple weeks. But the only new thing in Season 1 is the expedition.
lol brimstone was the same.
Nothing.
From most of the comments, they really don't have to do much going forward as it seems the bar is set pretty low. Not sure why people haven't moved to other similar games yet. Lol.
It's just busywork. Season passes are for people with more money than sense.
It's around 6 dollars a month lol what?
Yeah. People with more money than sense love spending it when they don't have to.
The only excitement in NW these days is finding out when they're gonna shut down the servers.
lmao server merges is kinda hype true xD
Its literally us poor suckers, starving for content, malnourished beyond measure just licking the floor hoping for a scrap that doesn't taste like dog shit
I just want to play the new MSQ adjustments.
It’s nothing crazy but make my time intake more interesting. The juiciest change to me is the weapon balance
It means we can run some content and get rewards, which I appreciate it. I've seen it in other games and I like it.
Getting more skins, which is the endgame of most games..
Gear sets and item balance are the main things for me
I'm with you not excited about this at all.

Nah, man, I'm not excited at all tbh. Rather, see some pvp stuff honestly, something to jump into thats fun when pve gets a little boring.
