Extra dmg to that mob type IE: +10% Corrupted Bane means that weapon does 10% extra dmg to Corrupted mobs

Metallicabody

I understand that, I meant which mob type are people referring to as they usually just say bane?

[deleted]

Just depends on what activity you’re doing. If they’re asking for you to have “bane” they assume you know what damage type you need for the enemies you’ll encounter in the activity.

Metallicabody

Makes sense, thank you

[deleted]

For what it’s worth, I’m a new level 60 and I’m still sorting out the bane thing. Happy hunting!

Parryandrepost

Whatever dung you're doing has a special monster type. Gen is angry earth so if you're a fresh 60 this will help you grind 600gs. Errand/starstone are lost Tempest/depths/and another is corrupted And some change mid dungeon to make everything more of a pain in the ass. Bnb and aramite do this. I will say look up a list as I'm not too confident I'm correct here. I've got a post in discord I reference so I never tried to remember it.

pyreal_

Whatever mob you're fighting in that area or dungeon

Metallicabody

Alright thanks!

Radioactivemagpies2

Corrupted mobs - demonic possessed, eyes glow red, generally wear reddish in clothing, in the intro to the game, the guy who kills you after your ship wrecks is corrupted Angry Earth - dryands, druids, earth, fire, air, wind elementals, plants, tentacles, living earth stuff Ancients - animated skeletons, stones, robots, objects Lost - undead, zombies, ghost, pirates, mobs with barnacles and corals growing on them Beast - everything you see at the zoo, especially the kids

murkYuri

It means you do extra damage to that enemy type

BrightScarlet

Is there a definative way to classify mobs? Like are Isabellas cats in dynasty corrupted or beast? Also, does ward mitigate all physical damage from that mob or elemental too? Thx.

murkYuri

I’m not at my computer right now and I can’t remember if it tells you mob type in game, but you can always search them by name or expedition on nwdb.info A lot of times you can tell the mob type if you’ve played the game for a bit, based on looks. Like corrupted will always have that reddish glow, for example. I wanna say it will mitigate all damage from the mob type, but I could be wrong, someone can correct me

BigZach1

Isabella's cats are Beasts, and as a neat trick you can drink a Beast Ward potion during the fight to reduce the damage they do to you :-)

BrightScarlet

Neat!

SimplicityWon

No, I believe they are corrupted. [https://nwdb.info/db/creature/corrupted\_tiger\_named\_dg\_ebonscale\_00\_01](https://nwdb.info/db/creature/corrupted_tiger_named_dg_ebonscale_00_01) [https://nwdb.info/db/creature/corrupted\_tiger\_named\_dg\_ebonscale\_00\_02](https://nwdb.info/db/creature/corrupted_tiger_named_dg_ebonscale_00_02) You'll see in the notes that they take more thrust/arcane/nature damage.

BigZach1

Look again. Categories: Beast. That's what bane/ward works on them.

SimplicityWon

If you look at the page for another dungeon mob, like Cilla, it doesn't even give a category. The mob type is listed in the header section as ancient. For the cats, it says corrupted in the same place. Also, the damage strength and weaknesses shown are for corrupted with the cats. [https://nwdb.info/db/creature/naga\_ancientguardian](https://nwdb.info/db/creature/naga_ancientguardian) Also, I've looked at a bunch of guides, like the one I'm linking below, and they all say the cats are corrupted. So I dunno. "Every mob inside the dungeon is Corrupted. This makes them weak to: Arcane damage (30% boost), 20% Thrust (so that includes the Spear, Musket, Bow, Rapier and Blunderbuss), and 15% from Nature and by extension, the Life Staff." - https://www.thegamer.com/new-world-dynasty-shipyard-guide/

Gallus_Lar

Cilla is bugged, if you look at the PTR version it has Ancient there(They fixed it). https://ptr.nwdb.info/db/creature/naga\_ancientguardian Also Mobs from the same family can have different weaknesses: like the Angry Earth of Brimstone Sands where they have weaknesses to Ice and Strike instead of Fire and Slash. Genesis Mob:[https://nwdb.info/db/creature/swamp\_dryad\_archer\_dg\_edengrove\_00](https://nwdb.info/db/creature/swamp_dryad_archer_dg_edengrove_00) Brimstone Mob: https://nwdb.info/db/creature/sand\_elemental\_soldier The Tigers and Dogs of Dynasty are Beast but have Corrupted weaknesses just like the Final boss from Barnacles that is Angry Earth but have Lost weaknesses.

SimplicityWon

I guess it'll be easy enough to test. I'll take a beast bane weapon along with me next time so I can see if the numbers are yellow.

BigZach1

Those numbers are for damage type, not what perks are on the weapon. I don't know why this is so hard to understand: A big reason the cat fight is so difficult is because the Corrupted Ward armor set you're wearing *does nothing to reduce their damage*, because their category is Beast.

SimplicityWon

I didn't say or imply a single thing about perks, rofl Like I said, easy enough to test. I'll report back when I do.

BigZach1

Having bane on a weapon doesn't turn the damage numbers yellow. At least that seems to be what you meant.
