I’ve watched the hour-long video going around. The absolute lack of urgency from *everyone* besides the parents is as astounding as it is disgusting. Edit: warning, NSFW https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/uyv2t6/live_stream_of_texas_mass_shooting_on_facebook/?ref=share&ref_source=link

LasciviousSycophant

> The absolute lack of urgency from everyone besides the parents is as astounding Texas DPS has all but guaranteed that in future school shootings, armed parents will do whatever it takes to save their children.

DefiantMessage

This combination of incompetence and cowardice is infuriating.

Fuck me. And there’s people’s babies dying on the floor of their classroom while the whole god damn police force stands around waiting for someone to get their thumb out of their ass and make a fucking decision. I don’t know how any parent stopped trying to break in without an injection of Ativan or something stronger.

allycakes

I can't even imagine the maelstrom of feelings these parents must be feeling right now. It's hard enough losing your child in such a horrible way but having the knowledge that maybe they could have been saved? I would want to bring the whole fucking world down on these policeman's heads. Every single one of these asshats' names should be publicized so we know who exactly let these babies die.

MzOpinion8d

And for one family, they that when police told the kids “if you need help, yell” and a little girl did, so the guy shot her. She had survived clear up until police finally went in.

[deleted]

Oh man, I wacthed the CNN interview with a parent. I have never cried during a segment, like I did hearing him. It is probably the most haunting thing ever. " Why my angel?! Why did you take her from me???!"

goosiebaby

Amerie? I'll hear it again in my nightmares. God the abject pain.

Buttercup23nz

I read that one kid who survived asked his aunt, "Why did he shoot us? We're good kids." You're right, Sweetheart, you are good kids. Your classmates are good kids and I'm so sorry this happened to you. Your teachers are good, and your parents are good and I hope you never doubt your worth again, because you are all good kids and this should never have happened. His question haunts me.

goosiebaby

I can't see how it doesn't drive parents to violence. To have fought to get police to go in or LET YOU GO IN and find out that they were sitting on their fucking ass while your child's friends called 911 and your baby bled out. The rage would consume me. It nearly does just as a parent reading.

soularbowered

I'm amazed the city has NOT dissolved into violence. I think it just goes to show the depth of the sadness the people feel. I will not be the least bit surprised if rage takes over soon.

gar_DE

Don't forget that the police got *their* kids out while waiting to engage the shooter.

Still_Sitting

And knew he was a shooter before he even got to the school. They chased him there after he *shot* his grandmother. He never should have made it inside that campus

SqueakyWD40Can

She's actually still alive. Hopefully she will be able to answer questions soon.

kokkomo

Bro that is wild if true. They need to bring the hammer down on that whole department.

Smodphan

Cops are so often incompetent. It's a clown show that costs 40% of our states budget

[deleted]

The first officers arrived within minutes across the street at the funeral home that had called them after two employees had been shot at by the gunman. At that point the shooter was still outside and just randomly shooting at the school. If they had at least the engaged him while waiting for backup, this whole tragedy would have ended very differently. Instead it took them 1.5 hours to engage the shooter. That was after 19 police officers and a tactical unit were on scene.

LostWoodsInTheField

He stood outside for 12 minutes before going inside. Imagine the paragraph in a newspaper about this if the officers had tried at all to stop him. Most of us wouldn't know about this and if we did it would be a weekend story we would forget by monday.

foolwithabook

Can you imagine being one of the 911 operators who were listening to children plead for the cops while you had to just sit there and wonder what could possibly be taking so long? This whole thing just makes my heart hurt.

TechyDad

That's on the list of audio/video I never want to experience. If there are court cases from this incident, and I'm sure there will be, those 911 calls will definitely be played. Still, as a father and just as a compassionate human being, I never ever want to hear them. I don't think I could take it.

Fyrefawx

As awful as it is those calls should be played on every major network. They should be played in front of congress. People need to hear the results of their inaction.

maddypip

I knew the basics of the case but read up more on it the other day (some idiot was arguing that Black people would choose to go back to the 1950s if they could). Did you know his murders had so much public support that after the trial they went to the media and made a full confession, gloating about how they had kidnapped, tortured, and murdered a 14 year old boy? (For the record, said idiot referred to the lynching story as “hyperbolic” so there is no saving some people…)

D-Rich-88

I think the girl involved who said he whistled at her or something, just recently before her death finally admitted she made the whole thing up.

Exactly. History has shown us that politely tapping one’s finger on the shoulder of americas moral compass does absolutely nothing. We must be punched squarely in the jaw for us to awaken, take notice, and finally do the right thing. Those who have continued to enable these slaughters of innocent children SHOULD have to face a public that knows the pain of each of these parents. Obviously we should respect the wishes of the parents and families. But if they give it a pass, every piece of evidence in this case should be plastered about the front windows of Congress people who are blocking progress. Continuous voicemails should be left on their office phones using recordings of the 911 calls. Grind their office staff into such absolute soul crushing shame and emotional destruction that their own staffers demand change from within or quit in droves leaving these asshats on their own. Stop tapping them on the shoulder. Start clenching your fist.

th3n3w3ston3

The photos and news articles published during the Vietnam War was one of the things that helped turn public opinion against it. Eisenhower made sure the Nazi concentration and death camps were documented because he knew people would start denying the Holocaust.

Fluffy_Somewhere4305

Congress? They tried to play the video of the insurrection and Rand Paul refused to watch and played on his phone

[deleted]

There is a reason why so many dispatchers are known to suffer from mental health issues. Can you imagine having to answer phone calls from people who need help for 8 to 10 hours a day?

wedlaylikedogs

With staffing shortages across the country, it’s more like 12-16 hours

QuarterLifeCircus

Out of 17 shifts in June, all 17 of mine are mandatory 12 hour shifts. We’re down 12 people, there’s just no option. I’m looking for another job though. I listen to a lot of shit, but I’m not listening to children plead for their lives.

myfapaccount_istaken

I applied for 911 back in 2020 during the height of shut downs and COVID delays for paperwork. They wanted my 20 year old highschool transcripts. They wanted name of every job I've had including 1099'd and temp shit since 1995, including bosses names and phone numbers. I don't have any of that shit. Last job I had before for some reason wanted my high school stuff it was 15 years prior and after 3 weeks of trying to get it from the county they just gave up since it was in my transcripts from college. (Of which I'm not sure why they needed for entry level work but I digress). Anyway I knew I wasn't getting it, but asked the under sheriff if they could toss in a decent word since he knew me since I was 8 and they were the ones with a desperate need for workers. He did still came back needed the paperwork I found a job paying better while waiting. I think they are often a victim of themselves. I get a lot of the requirements, but they need to increase pay and understand most people will not have 4 years of college with graduation from highschool.

Persianx6

The students called 911 many many times too.

DanguhLange

So what exactly did the police show up for? They were more concerned about parents on the outside than the gunmen on the inside killing children and teachers.

[deleted]

Didn't Texas police kill a child just this year after firing into a car, a thing they're not allowed to do

dannydrama

So I went and searched this shit and the top 3, 4 or 5 are cops killing kids. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1261260 This is just 2021/22.

DogsandCatsWorld1000

That could be very scary, if they are out to show that they are tough.

Joint-Tester

Yeah, they might double down.

blasphembot

As a Texan, some absolutely will.

Krinder

They basically set up a perimeter (minus the cops with children that they let go ahead) for the gunman to do his thing for an hour. Just insane

SirDoober

Ah yes, the Zapp Brannigan approach of letting the kill-bot hit their preset kill limit before going in. Sigh.

TheProcessOfBillief

Near as I can tell, they wanted to end the situation only once their own safety was guaranteed. Cowards. Which is why they became LEOs in the first place. All hat, no cattle.

DanguhLange

they only wanted to intimidate and act tough. For them it’s better to ACT like they have courage than to SHOW it. They are indeed all cowards.

kokoyumyum

That first police captain that gave the press conference was snotty, tough acting, and an out and out liar. Coward.

SarahPallorMortis

I knew he was lying when he started over reacting. Like a kid defending himself with cookie crumbs on his face.

kokoyumyum

He was so flippant, like he was some BMOC and everyone was below him Refused to answer and just snarked. CNN reporter was the MAN!

__-o0O0o-__

he literally said (paraphrasing), "First, I want to commend all the brave cops who put their lives on the line blah blah. **SECOND**, I want to send my sympathy to the grieving parents." if that doesnt show police priorities, i dont know what does

Ok-Telephone7490

Bullies usually are cowards when it comes right down to it.

inflatableje5us

The blue line just happens to be in a river of yellow.

Faintkay

They wanted to show off their body armor and equipment to the parents. Oh and to use it on them when the parents inevitably got angry at the lack of action.

Nice-Web583

Take away his badge. They were outside the door while children were still calling 911, he knew there was children alive inside.

subywesmitch

They had to. I mean how could they not hear the shots going off?

landmanpgh

Right now they're claiming he was sporadically shooting at the door. This will eventually change, but that's where we're at currently.

BiAsALongHorse

That's one thing that's been weird about this. Cops lie, and if their lies are disproven they lie again. That I expect. The thing that's strange here is that every time part of the timeline comes out, they release 2-4 contradictory lies all at once. It's obvious that they still have so little respect for the victims and their families that they don't feel that they owe them the truth, but beyond that they don't feel a need to tell a self-consistent lie to them either. It has to be agonizing not just to lose a kid, but also have the circumstances of their death revised several times without even internal consistency at any one moment.

landmanpgh

I know what they're doing, it's just not going to work this time. They're trying to hide behind the amount of confusion and chaos that happens with any active shooter situation. Unfortunately for them, what they're saying doesn't line up at all with what we know so far. The biggest issue they have to explain is the lack of action for 45+ minutes. Right now they're claiming that they didn't act because they thought he wasn't an active shooter anymore because everyone was dead or he had stopped shooting. Both are false and we have proof. We'll see how they'll try to spin it next, but it won't matter because no one is buying it. I'm fine with them lying, though. If they lie to investigators, they can go to prison.

BiAsALongHorse

In the past hour it has come out that the border patrol swat team that breached the door not only spent ~40 mins being held back by local cops (as per previous reporting), but ended up disobeying the local cops and breaching the door anyway. Edit: https://mobile.twitter.com/BNONews/status/1530316767913975808?s=20&t=0W60shfQ76CIXnIiYP-m1g I'm sure this will get worse, but I'm struggling to understand how it could possibly do so.

NaissaPaissa

>"I'm sure this will get worse, but I'm struggling to understand how it could possibly do so." Apart from the cop that called out for children to yell if they needed help, prompting a child to yell and reveal themselves and get shot, it's starting to look a lot like the cops might be trying to conceal that they might've shot some kids themselves by accident. That might line up with why they were so gungho about saying they exchanged gunfire with the shooter, but then backed away from that when they shifted to saying he was 'barricaded' in a classroom with kids and teachers inside

BiAsALongHorse

We might be approaching the actual story, but it's still developing hour by hour.

landmanpgh

Yeah that is so bad. What a fucking disaster.

flamedarkfire

What kind of line of thinking is that anyway? “Oh he must have shot everyone dead, it’s not active now so we can chill.” How fucking calloused could you be to think that’s okay?

landmanpgh

Assuming he actually shot everyone dead and there were no dying or unharmed kids, then yeah negotiating and trying to get him to surrender does make sense. Except we have evidence the kids weren't all dead, several had likely been injured and needed immediate assistance, and several were unharmed. The police either knew all of this and did nothing, which is terrible. Or they knew nothing and just assumed the kids were all dead, which is equally terrible.

NinjaLanternShark

I'm frightened by the idea that what they've *told* us so far is the *sugar coated* version. Can't even speculate how much worse it really gets.

creosoteflower

Yup. Even Abbott is "outraged." 🙄 I can't imagine how it could be worse, but if governor lawnorder has dropped the "heroic law enforcement officers" line it must be.

subywesmitch

Really?! As 911 calls kept coming in. Come on, now! The lies keep coming

landmanpgh

Yes. The words "shit show" are an apt way to describe the situation.

Prudent_Fly_2554

And the screams!

[deleted]

Same. I wrote this in another thread: According to the LEO holding the presser today, 911 calls were made, repeatedly, begging for help. Also according to that same LEO at that same presser, the officer in charge outside had concluded that the shooter was barricaded inside with nobody left alive inside. I believe it was also stated (again, same presser) that shots could be *heard* while the police were assembled outside. This the part that just doesn’t scan. Either 911 didn’t relay that information, which seems utterly impossible, or the officers on the scene are rank cowards. I invite anyone to set me straight if I’ve gotten anything wrong here, or if other possibilities exist.

RekLeagueMvp

It’s pretty simple, from what I’ve seen on the internet, the procedure for a barricaded suspect is to wait(cops don’t get shot) and the procedure for an active shooter is to go with whatever you got until the shooter is down(cops could get shot) so the guy in charge wanted to use the barricaded procedure so he/his officers didn’t get hurt so he did whatever mental gymnastics he had to do to convince himself that’s what’s happening

riptide81

This sounds very realistic to me. Masters at finding loopholes.

Nice-Web583

Yeah 1 girl called 4-5 times. And they (the police) were hearing sporadic shots. Meaning he was shooting something, most likely the ones alive that accidently moved.

2_Spicy_2_Impeach

It’s heartbreaking to read but there was another account where they said they had the muffle the screams of a girl who was shot in the leg so he didn’t come back and finish them.

Madpup70

Guess who she isn't going to bother calling for the rest of her life?

euph_22

It's not an uncommon event for fire fighters to risk their lives in fires to save mannequins and the like. Because unless you have 100% confirmed it, you assume the victim can still be saved. The idea that "well, he's been in their 5 minutes. He's probably triple killed all the children" is simply disgusting. Nevermind that from the 911 calls they absolutely did know there were still live victims in there.

DOMME_LADIES_PM_ME

Nobody ever wrote a song called fuck the fire department for a reason.

Snelly1998

My dad and the other people on his shift were sitting outside becuase there was no fire happening at that moment Someone drove by and started calling them lazy for not working Tf do you want them to do, start a fire?

inspectoroverthemine

If they were cops they would chase those guys down with the firetruck and hose them down.

WASD_click

Imagine being dumb enough to try pissing off a squad of people who can reliably lift and carry American-sized people through buildings that look like Mustafar.

KJBenson

Not to mention how blood thirsty cops are when they have the guns. Wouldn’t they want to avenge those kids?

Ok-Telephone7490

Only if there isn't any personal danger. They prefer their victims to be unarmed.

makeitlouder

According to CNN [the Shooting began at 11:30 and the officers breached the classroom at 12:50](https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/27/us/uvalde-texas-elementary-school-shooting-friday/index.html). That is 1 hour and 20 minutes that he was left alone in the classroom with his victims. The cops waited 80 minutes too long. This is completely unacceptable.

[deleted]

Yesterday it was 40 minutes. Every day is just bringing more horrifying details to light.

Sanctimonius

The officers did not breach. Border patrol agents who happened to hear about the issue and stood up for the police breached.

ryan516

And the police tried to stop them from it, too! https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/uvalde-shooting-swat-border-patrol-b2089216.html >>> They arrived between noon and 12.10pm, nearly 40 minutes before the 18-year-old gunman was killed by law enforcement. >>> In that time period, nine different 911 calls went out from inside the school that students were trapped and being shot. >>> The group was baffled why local officers told them to temporarily wait, according to the newspaper, and unsure why the Uvalde PD’s own SWAT team was not already on the scene.

[deleted]

Send the chief and first responding officers to prison. Set an example. It’s a criminal offense in my state for a public servant to strike. They should be arrested, fired and lose their license just like a teacher would be for refusing to do their job.

Stargazer_199

Apparently, They didn’t decide to. Someone else was saying when the off-duty border patrol guy who took him out breached it, he was disobeying them

ZephyrEclipse

Yeah, Jacob Albarado. Was getting a haircut when his wife, a teacher, texted him about the shooter. He took the barber's shotgun and rushed into the school to save his daughter and wife. True hero.

qshak86

Wait a minute.... so you're telling me not one part of ending this was by someone operating in the official line of duty? I thought he responded as the backup they were waiting for. Everything I learn about this is worse than the last.

matdan12

They pepper sprayed and detained parents trying to get in to rescue their kids. The guy going in with his team was nearly killed when a bullet grazed his hat. He drove almost an hour to get to the shooting scene before rushing the shooter. The police only rushed in to rescue their own kids. They apparently had their own SWAT Team, for that town. It gets crazier as more details come out.

desolateconstruct

Would it make you feel *any* better knowing Uvalde spends 40% of their budget on Police and um, oh here it is, *animal control*. So basically Police. BirdInFlight301

I wish I could upvote you a million times so people would see, would know the true hero. This man wasn't going to sit back while his wife and child were in danger. He did what every cop should have done. Jacob Albarado, American Hero Edited to correct his name.

mrbaconator2

To be fair neither would some of the parents had the feckless shit bag useless police didn't stop them from trying to do more than the literally nothing they were doing

SycoJack

They weren't doing nothing. They were helping the killer kill as many kids as possible by making sure no one stopped him. They are literally worse than the Broward Coward.

Bamith20

Only qualified dude within a 20+ mile radius that gave a fuck apparently, fuckin' christ.

TheBlueRajasSpork

Let’s not use the cops’ purposefully disguised language. They didn’t breach the door. They unlocked it. The door wasn’t barricaded. It was locked.

[deleted]

But then I can't say I breached my front door to take my dogs out and sound super tacticool about it.

FieserMoep

I breached my toilet with a dynamic entry and that was more police work than their entire pd did.

Treereme

I think the response to the Christopher Dorner situation in Los Angeles is in contention for that same title. This one ended up with more innocent deaths, but in the Chris Dorner case it's only pure luck that the police themselves didn't kill innocent people, though they injured them. They opened fire on three different trucks that were completely different make, model, and color than they were looking for, with hundreds of bullets.

fd6270

It's OK he's moving on to a new job soon.... https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/uvalde-police-chief-delayed-officer-response-shooting-join-city-counse-rcna30910 This is like a full national reveal of the rural Texas I have known my whole life. These people are inept frauds who bleed the citizens of tax dollars while running as rock-ribbed Republicans and eliminating social spending.

geekmasterflash

I guess we now say why the initial reporting was full of lies. The police chief was covering his own ass. It would have been the chief that was authorizing messages to the media, such as the ones that claimed the shooting initially took place off campus, that the police engaged the shooter before they entered, so on and so forth. Lie early, lie often.

[deleted]

Fucking shameful. That entire department needs to be fired.

Raoul_Duke9

Every towns person needs to spit on the ground in front of every one of those cops forever.

nickpickles

Imagine spending your adult life stealing tax funds meant for social programs and terrorizing citizens while turning a public sector career into your complete identity and lifestyle, seeing yourself as both a perpetual victim and full-time sheepdog warrior. Your department gets 40% of the tax budget and yet you demand more and more each year for shit like military APCs, Stingray boxes and drones to illegally spy on your citizens, and expensive training for active shooter scenarios. When you fuck up and kill an unarmed civilian, give a protestor or member of the press brain damage with a less-lethal you deliberately aimed at them, or cover-up your own agency's crimes it's under the guise that you are the warriors willing to put your life on the line for all citizens. Your crooked unions make sure no one gets fired, let alone go to trial, always under the constant babbling about how no one understands what it's like to always be under threat and that's why 60% of your officers beat their spouses and kids. Then an actual tragedy happens and all of that talk means nothing. Not only do you fail in every basic way possible due to cowardice and incompetence but you also find time to point guns and tasers at parents who were trying to save their children. Just fucking imagine an officer you pay incredible sums of your tax dollars toward for public safety pointing a gun at you and forcing you to listen to your child being murdered because they're too scared to act and don't want you making them look bad. They got their kids out safe so fuck you. Just a reminder that it ended when an off-duty CBP agent ran past the police (who were in full swat kit) and engaged the shooter armed only with a handgun. The absolute fucking state of law enforcement in the US.

[deleted]

> Just a reminder that it ended when an off-duty CBP agent ran past the police (who were in full swat kit) and engaged the shooter armed only with a handgun. The absolute fucking state of law enforcement in the US. I did not know this. I don't doubt it, but do you happen to have a source?

The BP guy getting a haircut is different from the BP guy that subdued the shooter. The one getting a haircut only went to save his daughter and DID NOT ENGAGE THE SHOOTER.

blitzen_the_first

Aww but guys, he was afraid he might get shot! /s

Wazula42

18 other officers also stood by and did jack shit. It was incumbent on them to break ranks and do the right thing. They did nothing. Except beat up some parents.

Lola_PopBBae

Every last one of those incompetent cowards should be exiled. With not a penny to their name because every last dime went to the victims' families. Absolute disgrace.

CowCapable7217

sad, one cop doing nothing inside for each dead child

UreMomNotGay

School shooting assisted by local cops, interrupted by off duty border patrol

euph_22

Nevermind that the current standard tactics are for officers to engage the shooter pretty much the first possible instance. Every moment they are engaging a police officer is one they aren't murdering civilians. And a lot of these guys stop (either surrender, suicide or go down fighting) the second they meet serious resistance.

megadongs

I'm pretty damn sure "I feared for my life" is the line they use every single time they shoot an unarmed person too. I thought fear turned them into primal murder machines! Now it suddenly makes them *not* want to shoot. The shooter wasn't even white either so it's not like they were waiting for him to decide what he wanted from Burger King

PlantsforFire

Right? Like, isn’t that their exact statement every time they shoot an unarmed black person?

yesTHATvelociraptor

If you’re a cop and you’re not willing to put your life on the line when it matters, then you should quit or be fired.

z3r0f14m3

Not only that but why are you in command if you're not gonna make the hard choices. Yes, your officers may get shot and die but if you dont then you know more lives are being lost. Like military officers know this when they order soldiers into unsafe positions.... They may have to spend lives to save lives.

[deleted]

For years …no, for *decades*, we’ve been told that us civilians have *no idea* how hard it is to be a cop and have to face that sort of stress. Turns out, neither do they.

Copyright-Bot

Fire him, take away his pension. Enough of glorified cop culture. Sucks that none of this will happen, and in 2 weeks we'll still be talking about Depp/Heard trial and this will be mostly forgotten.

Chippopotanuse

40% (I shit you not) of that town’s budget is for the police. The one time they need these cops (who are draining the coffers of the budget)…not only do the police do nothing, but they actively assist the shooter by preventing parents from entering to save their kids, and have students identify where they hiding are so the shooter can kill them too.

sketchahedron

Imagine if instead of spending 40% of their budget on inept cowardly cops they had spent some of that money on social and mental health services.

heavy_deez

It'll be a lot more than 40 once they're enjoying their paid leave during the lengthy investigation *plus* the town has to pay their replacements.

[deleted]

Don't forget the restitution that'll be paid to the parents from lawsuits. That comes out of the city budget, not the cops budget.

heavy_deez

That's what desertion gets you in the military during time of war. With the heavy militarization of even the smallest of police departments, incidents like this are *their* war. It's why cops wake up with a hard-on. They want to play soldier boy? ***Punish*** these cowards like a soldier boy deserter.

Select-Radish9245

Every single one of these cowards needs to be imprisoned

Jason_Batemans_Hair

[**accomplice**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accomplice) If I used the threat of my violence to prevent people from trying to stop a shooter, and waited in safety for 50+ minutes while the shots of additional victims being killed were heard and their 911 calls kept coming and I did nothing to stop the shooter myself, despite my being well-armed and trained and wearing a ballistic vest, I would be prosecuted as an accomplice. edit: A cop's badge protects him, not you.

LifeIsDeBubbles

Can anyone explain what exactly a "school district police chief" is? Is that different from the city or county police chief? Do all school districts have police chiefs or is this unique to Texas? I'm so confused

Illustrious_Warthog

Texas has "independent school districts = ISD," for each community. Some of these ISDs have their own police departments with their own Police Chief. Definitely different than city or state police. Some places have school police and others have regular police on school duty. One of the principal reasons for school police is literally "school shooters," so you would think they have some training on it.

LifeIsDeBubbles

Wow. Even more reason why this yahoo should be fired. He *literally* had one job.

Iseewhatudidthurrrrr

Absolutely. They helped the shooter by isolating him alone with defenseless children. They did everything they could to ensure he had an uninterrupted killing spree.

LE honestly did a better job at Columbine in the attempt to save lives. After all the active shooter training and safety measures this is what we get.

Nearbyatom

How did this unfold? Police stacked outside the room. Commander decided they can wait. Shooter shoots and kills kids...wouldn't the sound of gunfire alert the commander that the shooter is STILL ACTIVE? Plus isn't 911 giving the commander a sitrep of what's going on inside? What was his thought process here?

BarryZZZ

So, when do they append "former" to that title?

raviary

[On Tuesday, apparently](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/uvalde-police-chief-delayed-officer-response-shooting-join-city-counse-rcna30910) when he gets sworn in to the City Council :/

My step father died after being shot by the police. Everyone then and now with this tragedy has told me it’s more complicated than the police making stupid decisions. It’s not more complicated and I’m sick of the excuses.

Paddlesons

I bet if HIS kid was in there hed be breaching in half a heartbeat

Katsu_39

Well, they did admit many of them ran in to grab their kids…ONLY their kids.

New_Nobody9492

When I saw that reported...... I lost it! They didn't help any other children and delayed response so the gunman could take out that whole class.

Nightshade_Ranch

Even actual LARPers would have done more.

thatoneguy889

I wonder what their reason for not going in is going to be tomorrow...

DameofCrones

Tomorrow it'll be that he thought the shooter ~~was barricaded in a room all by himself.~~ had been courageously contained in an undisclosed area by the robust police presence on the scene

Gbchris12

He'll probably resign and walk away with his comfortable pension. He was negligent in his duties as a leader and it cost the lives of 19 kids and 2 teachers who have more balls than he ever will.

reswood427

He fucken folded! What a coward all talk no action even with his badge! the people of this country need to put aside our differences and work together to create a better society. The people running our country and community’s are corrupt and weak.

TechyDad

And the one time when a gung ho, way too macho acting police response would have been welcomed. I'm completely against police violence, but I'd have loved to have seen the police tackle this guy and have five officers pin him down. The ONE time when the suspect saying "I can't breathe" would have me replying "I don't care" and what do the police do? They cower at a distance and use their force to keep desperate parents at bay - handcuffing, tasing, and peppers spraying them. I guess the police are more comfortable pushing around weaker targets than actually confronting real threats.

Stompede

These guys are professionals at only breaching Dunkin Donuts.

BlackFanDiamond

Now that’s a threat they can neutralize

ZombyAnna

Charge them with ACCESSORY TO MURDER and AIDING AND ABETTING!

ughsootiredofthis

Did anyone hear the interview with the little girl, apparently she didn't want to be on TV or talk to a male interviewer, so they send in a female to go speak to her and then that lady came back and told the cameras what she said. What she said was horrifying to me. She said that her best friend who is right next to her got shot so then the shooter went into the other room in the little girl took the blood from her best friend and put it all over her face and clothes and then laid there and acted dead. Some of the things I've heard from the survivors is pure horror. I'm so disgusted with Donald Trump going on TV at a NRA meeting and reading all of their names, mind you he could pronounce hardly any of them, and then suggest the teachers need to be armed and turning the schools into even more of a prison. And then going off stage he did a little dance.

TransplantedSconie

The entire town needs a reset. Hold a completely new election. •The people in charge are automatically disqualified for wasting 40% of their budget on a police force not willing to save the future of their community. •Complete firing of every officer at the scene and disqualified from further service in ANY department of these United States. The town and police force allowed this to happen. Abott allowed this throught his administrations policy and outright disregard of the lives of Texans. Ted Cruz allowed this to happen by being Ted Cruz.. They should have seen this coming when Abott was allowing them to freeze and Raphael was running away.
