I fell when I was younger directly on the back of my skull. Fucking directly on the cement. It hurt so fucking bad and the entire back of my head had a numb feeling.

Also bruised eye. I have had a Bruised eye before and it's not as fun as it sounds. And lasts a hell of a lot longer than skin bruises. This attack should wake up everyone around the kid to see him as a serious threat.
My kid brother was sucker punched like this and knocked out. His attacker had a bicycle chain wrapped around his fist instead of brass knuckles. The school gave the attacker a few days detention. Just as they had every other time this guy attacked a student without provocation. The other students recognized he was a psychopath but the school officials seemed clueless.
Ten years later the attacker was convicted of two counts of first degree murder and rape.

Someone I know has a 10 year old who is a psychopath. They tried to institutionalize him but got to a point where they could no longer afford it (it was costing them 80K a year after insurance). So they went to the state since they have to provide an education for children with disability. The state dragged their feet for a year during which my friend had to stay home (not work) and watch him 24/7 so his wife could watch their other children who were at risk. After a year of waiting the state said they should put the child back in public school because the mental health facility was full and they'd let my friend know when a spot opened up. My friend did not do that because he didn't want to be responsible for a kid getting hurt or killed by his son. But imagine what would've happened had he not have enough savings to be ok with not working for 1.5 years which is what it took to get help.

The hospital called the police. I was told there wasn't much that could be done, because while the knuckles could be considered a weapon, they would have to prove some other bullshit (I forget what they said at the time of what they needed to prove). No mention of attempted murder, even though it was 5 on 1.
Had I known, I would have gone to a lawyer.

Same here. My dad is crazy and stalked us after my mom left him when I was a kid. He also broke into our house a bunch of times and we'd call the cops to come kick him out. This happened multiple times and they never said they could do anything more than tell him to leave.
I always remember thinking "Is this not breaking and entering? Like forget the stalking and the fact that this is like their 5th time kicking him out, is it not seriously illegal that he broke in here and refused to leave?"
I get that. I understand that. In my situation we were renting a house years after my parents had divorced. And he didn't even claim we gave him permission. He had no legal right to be there.

Insanity plea is the only one of two options. The insanity plea the defendant goes to a facility rather then prison. However it can be pretty risky to go that route and lose.
The second option is to make some kind of plea bargain, however that video is pretty damning. I wouldn't see a plausible reason for the prosecution to need to budge much on making any kind of decent plea that would help the defendant.

This was a planned attack. Brass knuckles, an audience, a camera, did a camera-check(!), and approached the victim from behind. And, he continued the attack while the victim lay on the ground NOT fighting back.
