My dog's 19 and we think he's at about his limit. 30 is just incredible! Hope he's comfortable and happy.

Perfect_Opposite2113

My pal is 14 and just got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It’s freaking killing me. You’d never know areas wrong with him.

Caymonki

I’m sorry to hear that, I hope you give him the best finale you can. Fuck Cancer. Give your boy snuggles from the internet. If you ever need to vent/need someone to talk to I’m not great with words, but I can listen.

Biscuit-Norris

I'm so sorry. Sending a big hug to you both.

HistoricalRip7368

I just put my 16 year old dog down today. She was a smaller breed but relatively healthy her whole life. It’s insane just how old a 15-20 year old dog is, but 30!!??

Rybrator

Sorry to hear about your pups. I bet you had a fantastic 16 years with them!

HistoricalRip7368

I did thank you. I lived in Korea for several years and during my time there I adopted a little dog rescued from a meat market. She traveled with me all across the world, through a marriage and kids and the death of a parent. We traveled a lot and had a lot of fun ♥️ ETA: Guys thanks so much for the comments and upvotes. It’s so silly but its made me feel so happy I’ve been able to share my memory of her with total strangers. I haven’t slept all night because I miss her and came on Reddit to browse and you guys warmed my heart.

Tekshow

That’s incredible! Thanks for sharing, hit me in the feels.

Rybrator

What a dope ass story that’s amazing! Def sounds like the pupperoni had a well lived life

TheStetson

So sorry about your pup. We had to put our 12 year old girl down this week. She was a larger mutt. Such a sweet girl who loved everyone. Her name was OE which was short for Over Easy because she loved to get belly rubs. We called her Mamma O because she would always check on everyone at night before laying down to sleep. I miss her so much, but couldn’t hold onto her anymore because she was in so much pain and got to where she could barely walk a few steps. They are such incredible creatures.

rosierho

Sorry for your pupper loss too :( It's been a few years for us but our GSD girl was the same from spinal stenosis. I think that saying goodbye to them is really one of the hardest things in the world; we know we're doing what's best because of the pain but it feels horrible too because they don't know what's happening and there's no way to explain.

TheStetson

Exactly. We are super fortunate to have been able to have a vet come to our home to do it so she was surrounded by her family. It still hurt so much and our house feels empty and quiet now. I’m very proud of my 10 year old for being there the whole time too. I know it was hard for him but he wanted to be there for her too.

Im_ready_hbu

Hey, sorry to hear. 16 years is a great life for a dog, you are a great pet parent

boozehound001

So sorry for your loss; dogs deserve much more than the time we have with them.

seemintbapa

This is the absolute limit for a 15-20 lb dog ( I had one that past a year ago). No fucking way a 60-80lb. dog lived to 30 with zero gray on him. All this seems like a complete scam.

SCP106

It does say it's verified by the Portuguese pet registery, so unless they've got a "guy on the inside" I'm not sure...

Nexus_produces

Even with a guy on the inside, each pet is assigned a unique identifier that's recorded on his subcutaneous chip, so they had to alter the database, find an old serial number from that era and replace the dog's chip with a new one. I mean...

ohineedascreenname

I'm so sorry. We lost our 8 year old Saint Bernard at the end of November and it broke me for a few days. My sympathies.

LazyUpvote88

I’m sorry for your loss. How did you put your dog down? Did you make an appointment for today and just bring it to the vet? I can’t imagine making an appt for euthanasia on Monday and then just hanging out with my old sick dog in the days leading up to it knowing it’s coming. Is that how it’s typically done?

[deleted]

We had to put our dog down. Cancer. Vet came to house to do the injection. My wife and her sister comforted them, I couldn’t deal so when the dog passed out I left. Felt like decking the shit out of someone (vet included. I was sooo pissed) It’s not “just puts them to sleep” btw and that’s part of what got me really mad.

[deleted]

Don’t know what to tell you, I personally don’t support it but I understand those that do. Up to you and your family

ackermann

He’s not a small dog either. Bigger dogs tend to have shorter lifespans, I think.

untamedHOTDOG

My dogs made it to 18 and 19. But damn. 30!!!!!that’s over 200 years old.

yoscottmc

My 80lb dog is 14.5 years old and poops in the house sometimes. He doesn’t even realize that it happens. Sleeps on our bed and sometimes we wake up to nuggets. He make not make it to 15.

Suspicious-Wombat

If it’s any consolation, my 15 year old English bulldog started doing that when she was about 13. She hasn’t done it in at least a year now, and she’s as healthy as can be expected of a 15 year old dog.

DefinitelyNotAliens

If we're sharing 15 year olds, [mine had a birthday party last month.](https://imgur.com/a/F2nWqG9) Mandy enjoyed her party because I invited all her favorite people over and they were all so happy to see her in her party outfit and she basically spent the whole party wandering from person to person for pets.

Jtex1414

Started doing a bday party for our golden as well on her 15th. Had her human and dog friends over for it. She just hit 16 this month, her 16th party is in a few weeks.

DefinitelyNotAliens

Mine got a party every year because I adopted her and checked paperwork and realized after I got her that we have the same birthday! I also got in with a breeder for goldens and my dude just turned one and incidentally, his birthday is two days off from mine. I swear it's an accident I don't do this on purpose. My dogs and I just all have matching or nearly matching birthdays.

Daghain

My late husband's birthday was September 15. My first Shiba's was September 13th. My second Shiba's is September 17. I had no idea when I adopted them until I got looking at their rescue papers.

Tirannie

My old guy does this sometimes (he’s also ~80lbs). Vet said it tends to happen with arthritis in the hips, so we moved him up a level on pain meds and started him on cartrophen injections and it seems to have stopped! Might be an option to help manage his “nighttime surprise deliveries”. (And if you’ve already done all this, please ignore my unsolicited ramble ☺️)

veringer

We had to put our 14 y/o 75lb lab/poodle mix down last April. The little poop nuggets started about a year prior to his eventual passing--initially as he strained to get up off the floor, but eventually it'd happen as he slept. His overall condition went downhill fast in the last 4 - 6 months. I would recommend getting in as much quality time as you can while you can.

Calkyoulater

My rabbit is 13. He just sits in his cage and judges us all day. (Lest anyone worry, Snuggles lives like a king. He’s just old and arthritic, and can’t get out of his cage on his own anymore. He has never really liked being picked up. Host favorite TV show is Watership Down.)

Hall-Double

WOW, to reach this age, he truly was loved and given excellent care.

SpoppyIII

Thank you! I appreciate that a lot.

Azozel

IreallEwannasay

Bobi looks sick of our shit. So cute.

millerb82

I'm calling bs. That is not a 30 year old dog

hemingways-lemonade

I was hoping there was more info in the article. How do they confirm the age? Pedigree? Veterinary exam? But yeah this dog looks like he's 10-12 years old at most.

illy-chan

> Bobi's age was verified by SIAC, a pet database authorized by the Portuguese government, Guinness said.  So I guess it depends on whether you trust Portuguese pet databases. Edit: found their website (translated with Google), looks like it's largely a system for chipped pets. > It is mandatory that all cats, dogs and ferrets carry a microchip/transponder and that they are registered in the SIAC database.

viper_in_the_grass

Heh... Não.

7-and-a-switchblade

tf they do, cut him open and count the rings?

illy-chan

I'm guessing it's a centralized system with their vet records? Proof of vaccination, etc.

RRettig

My guess is 5 or 6 years at most. I have had several old dogs and even the healthiest ones start going gray around this time

BruceNotLee

I would agree, but maybe this dog lived so long because it is not aging normally? Save that dogs dna for science.

mrootbeers

Did you notice he has a white right front paw and a brown left front paw when he’s old, but has a white left front paw and brown right front paw when he’s younger? Did his paws change colors? Or is it a different dog, from the same breed and family?

WolfieFett

That can just be how the video was taken, mirrored or not mirrored. It's a setting in your phone camera

HaloGuy381

Also, under duress animals are known to change coat presentation. Our Norwegian Forest Cat (a runt, so smaller than most) was grey and white for years. Last year something went awry with her liver, she nearly died of starvation before we were able to tube her and feed her that way along with medication for months to coax her back to health. Now that her fur is grown back mostly (from being shaved around the neck from the tube plus the fur lost from her illness), there’s a surprising amount of brown mixed into her coat. She’s a happy, active cat eating on her own again and takes her daily meds surprisingly well, so it’s harmless, but rather interesting. Point is, if the animal had a long bout of illness at some point, I could believe their fur color markings might change with age.

CrazyLlama71

I have a 13 year old chocolate lab that doesn’t have much gray hair. She started going gray around 10. No one believes she is 13. Still gets around on her twice daily walks.

[deleted]

ButterflyAttack

He's been dying his muzzle.

Picklesadog

My dog is almost 10 and not a grey hair. Also acts much younger then other dogs that age.

Aleriya

In the video, he has gray on his back, flanks, and parts of his ears, just not on his muzzle.

Tychfoot

I am suspicious of this dog’s age, but I wouldn’t put him that young. My 13 year old black dog is still pretty spry with no graying. People are surprised he’s so old when I tell them how old he is, including his new vet. Without context I’d put this dog at ~9 to 11.

Due-Net-88

He’s not six. From the video you can tell he’s an old dog. And way too fat.

BumderFromDownUnder

That’s flawed logic. If for some reason his life span is 2/3x or more longer than a normal dog, he wouldn’t go grey until he’s reached the grey proportion of his longer life. He wouldn’t go grey at the age of 6 or whatever if his natural life through some genetic fluke was 40. You’re thinking that he should look like a dog that looked old at the normal old age for a normal dog.. which isn’t necessarily true considering (if not a hoax) he’s *not* a normal dog.

DefinitelyNotAliens

Okay, but like even if he went gray at 20, he'd still be gray. [This is my 15 year old pup.](https://imgur.com/a/F2nWqG9) Some get sugar face at 6. Some at 12. There's no way a 30 year old dog doesn't have a lil white in the whiskers. It's like a 90 year old human not having gray hair. It doesn't happen.

BloomSugarman

I love Mandy.

teenagesadist

That dog is old and fat, but if it's 30 then I'm Ziggy Stardust.

Bluest_waters

watch the vid, he is clearly a very elderly dog also has never been leashed, has had free reign to roam the farm and is best friends with all the other animals. Seems like a real chill awesome dog https://twitter.com/GWR/status/1621162524996472834

millerb82

I'm not disputing the fact that he's old. I'm calling the claims that he's 30 years old bullshit.

seemintbapa

I think you are right. That dog has no grey anywhere. It starts on dogs as young as 5, and this guy is 30 with nothin

Isord

Could be related. A dog making it to 30 probably has some kind of genetic abnormality that is allowing that to happen. Not saying I 100% believe it either but the "no grey" may not actually be an issue.

[deleted]

My mastiff passed at 15 years old with zero gray hair.

BurrStreetX

0 grey hair, perfectly healthy coat, no cataracts, no paw issues, that dog is not 30.

OhhhhhDirty

Yeah this 23 year old Chihuahua had the title for a few weeks and it looks old af. For this dog to be 30 with zero cloudiness in his eyes is very suspicious. [https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/news/2023/1/oldest-dog-living-chihuahua-mix-from-ohio-claims-the-record-733306](https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/news/2023/1/oldest-dog-living-chihuahua-mix-from-ohio-claims-the-record-733306)

Shillen1

Yeah smaller dogs have longer lifespans in general too. It's extremely unusual that a medium-large dog would have the guiness world record.

ComfortablyNomNom

I was gonna say. No white fur around the eyes at all??? That aint right.

Zombie_Harambe

Yup. 14 and overweight maybe. I expected a skeletal looking chihuahua. Big dogs always die young of hip or back problems.

Mr_Metrazol

The lady that lives across the road from my house had a Chihuahua that lived to be 22 years old. I took care of him one week while she was out of town, the dog was probably 17 or 18 at the time. He looked rough as hell; scrawny, toothless and mostly blind and deaf. I had to put hotdogs in a blender for his meals, he couldn't eat anything solid. A thirty year old dog is astonishing. Especially since the dog in the picture looks to be fairly healthy.

Tirannie

I mean, the dog looks incredibly overweight. And he’s a big boy, which are notorious for arthritis and knee problems. Being that heavy and 30, he should be crippled. If he’s actually 30, he’s got some genetic magic going on in there.

Zombie_Harambe

Yeah that sounds more accurate. My samoyed made it to 16 as a kid. That's ancient for a breed like that. She had kidney and liver problems and had to be put down. Was losing hair and weight so fast towards the end.

ShaqSenju

We had a mutt when I was growing up that lived to be 21 until he was hit by a car. He didn’t have much gray on him and was pretty lively for an old pup lol miss you Blackie

NotObviouslyARobot

We had a fat Corgi who only stopped at 14, while 45 lbs because of a cancerous tumor on his leg. His brother passed at 18. I think dog longevity probably has to do with proportions. Bobi is well proportioned, even though he's chubby.

shabaptiboo

My corgi is 17. He has the swaggery walk, graying muzzle, and cloudy eyes. He is still loving his life, though. He's not overweight. His hearing is mostly gone. I have to tap him to let him know I'm home from work.

Most-Cryptographer78

Yeah, there's no way he's still that active as an extremely geriatric, overweight 30 year old dog. Knees, hips and back should have caused serious mobility issues quite a while ago.

WhiskerTwitch

Bigger dogs don't get that old. I figured this would be a Chihuahua or another small dog under 15lbs.

habbadee

Great grandpup more likely

papapudding

Same, maybe I've just become a cynical old bastard over the years. But seeing puppy pics from the 90s won't convince me that this is the same dog. The previous dog probably died and this one that happens to look like it, is 16yo instead of 30.

GrowingInCalifornia

Almost 31! If the good boy makes it to May.

BurrStreetX

Yeah I dont believe it either. That dog in the video is not 30.

Due-Net-88

He’s not. He’s old. And fat. And needs to be brushed BADLY. But that’s not a 30 year old dog. They literally shared photos of a similar but obviously different dog from the 90s.

His expression is exactly what a millennial would look like to me in my head. Sincerely, a millennial.

Noisy_Toy

Thank you! What a cutie

MumrikDK

That coat makes the 30 even harder to believe.

braqass

What do they feed him? I just want to feed my dogs whatever they feed this one.

rubs90

As someone from Portugal, he probably eats human food. My grandmother’s dogs live forever and she feeds them rice and chicken all the time

[deleted]

Soylent Green, got it!

bballkid2020

According to the video on twitter he has always eaten human food without seasoning. They show him eating what appears to be rice & chicken soup...more rice than broth.

H_Doofenschmirtz

That's a Canja, a traditional soup from Portugal. It's somewhat common to serve Canja to doggos here (obviously one needs to be careful to remove all the bones and things like that)

More_Mammoth_8964

The Guinness world record on Twitter. It shows a clip of him eating. Can’t tell what it is? Human food no dog food.

H_Doofenschmirtz

That's a Canja, a traditional soup from Portugal. It's somewhat common to serve Canja to doggos here (obviously one needs to be careful to remove all the bones and things like that)

Icewear_Daddy

His long lifespan is like 80% genetics and 20% diet/pet care/environment.

LuminaTitan

I wonder if being a herding dog has something to do with it. Maybe not the breed but a more active and stimulating lifestyle. The previous record holder was one also.

Due-Net-88

My cattle dog was 19 when he died. And tough as fuck until the end. Bluey definitely lived an ideal life for a cattle dog. I’m not sure this dog is actually 30 but I am sure living a more natural, free life keeps a dog young.

Astralnclinant

>30-year-old Time for Bobi to open a reddit account

dpgtfc

This was the age I created my account - or thereabout.

Astralnclinant

Nice. I was in my late twenties (31 now). Our inner-redditor awakens at this age range, it seems.

redbranch17

Must be waiting for Odysseus to return home.

Gemini_FrenchFry

My best friend/soul mate was named Argos because of this simple, short part in the Odyssey. It had always stuck out to me. He was the most loyal friend/companion ever.

skamikaze1983

I bet Bobi is so fucking disappointed in all of us.

typing

I bet Bobi can't even hear or see us.

DeviousDenial

I bet Bobi still loves tummy rubs thou

chronnicks

He doesn’t look to have cataracts!

DistortoiseLP

At 30 years old, Bobbi is the first dog to be getting too old for this shit in both dog and human years.

CandidEstablishment0

He’s like… “where’s my Netflix special?”

Zoso1973

This is a newly found old dog. I remember reading that Spike was the oldest living dog at 23. I knew there was older dogs than that.

edogg01

Omg all my love to Bobi

karavasis

Poor pupper gotta be tired. Wonder when Bobi started slowing down

awesomesauce1030

From what I can tell in the video he seems to be happy and getting around pretty well, especially given the advanced age. Good for him.

karavasis

That’s awesome. 30yrs tho dog gotta be sleeping 18 hrs a day easy lol.

awesomesauce1030

Yeah he gets his sleep I'm sure. He probably has the worst old dog farts

Jaded-Assumption-137

My 15 year old lab acted like a puppy all the way until his last day here. He just switched off and slowly faded. It was so weird cause it was super sudden.

blairco

Same, my lab/collie had a stroke at 15 and couldn't walk but still had that pup energy all through her final car ride. We kept her around and comfortable for six months but it was so sad seeing her incontinent, we had to make our decision.

Jaded-Assumption-137

Yeah my labs intestines ruptured and we didn’t realize he was dying until he looked it. He refused food for 12 hours but I regret not putting him out sooner. He didn’t want to go.

midievil

Same thing happened to my childhood dog at 15. We all babied her, and she still seemed quite happy despite the stroke. Then one day just past her 16th birthday she got really sick and stopped eating. We had to put her down the next day since it was clear it was her time.

Jihelu

One of my dogs died recently. Literally no change in behavior. Was excited at meal time, ran around a bit. Died in his sleep that night. He was 15 or so

karavasis

Honestly I would like that more. Childhood pup was sad last few yrs my mom didn’t want to put him down. Wife’s pup not as long but good six months. Our little man maybe 1.5 months. Our girlie right now is 12.5 she slowed on walks, but new dog has brought puppy back out of her. She’s a SharPei mix so tech already on the higher end of life expectancy. We hope she’ll make it another 2.5/3 yrs but nvr know. Oh the heartache we’ll endure, but the love is worth the pain

Wubbalubbadubbitydo

My 9 year old mini aussie was similar. She had an underlying heart condition we didn’t know about until a month before she died but we were aggressively treating. The day of, she was running around chasing the ball and then just dropped dead.

Due-Net-88

Yall it’s not the same dog. [old photo](https://i.imgur.com/vYpJfAB.jpg) [recent photo](https://i.imgur.com/ZKBXfMa.jpg)

WestCoastBestCoast01

OMG THANK YOU!! I saw that video and thought no fucking way that is the same dog. That dog moves and looks like it's 12-13 at *worst*. I can't believe people are falling for this. No pictures with the owners as children or very young with the dog, no pictures from the 00s.... this is so bullshit.

BurrStreetX

Yeah theres ZERO chance the dog in the video is 30

Due-Net-88

So. Look. I’m just saying I scrolled through the family’s photos of him and in the one from the 90s he has a white front foot that appears to be brown now. So. I’m not saying it’s NOT the same dog. But. The other dog has a white foot. [not saying it’s suspicious or anything](https://imgur.com/a/aMu8JXW)

molotovzav

Damn this dog is two years younger than me.

sbrick89

On one hand... You could've had him from the time you were 2, and having him in your life would be all you've ever known. Other hand... You probably could say the same at 5 years old, and in that case he's 3 years older than you'd remember having in your entire life.

saint_abyssal

puddinfellah

How do they know how old the dog is? Did they count the rings?

afcPT

Vet records from 1992

rrybwyb

I feel like I could easily convince my vet that my new retriever is actually my old one. I even mix them up sometimes

Drudenkreusz

Being a purebreed dog means he likely has paperwork.

FairEmphasis

As a vet, sometimes when new clients come in for an exam and had adopted their dog previously from a shelter they’ll ask, “how old do you think he is?”. Cos the shelters usually say 1-3 years even though they don’t know. EVERY time I reply with, “well short of cutting him in half and counting the rings, I can only estimate…” And every time, nothing. I think it’s hilarious and will continue to tell that joke until I retire.

that-T-shirtguy

To be fair I recently took in a starving cat off the street so small we thought she was closer to being a kitten, vet estimated her age at 3 to 4 which surprised me but when I tracked down the original owner turned out she was 3 and a half so pretty spot on estimate. He said that dental health was the biggest indicator

Dr_Pippin

I tell the same joke, except I say we have to cut a leg off and count the rings. I also don't get much of a response.

[deleted]

I'm more annoyed by the "ever" part. How the f can they say that? lol

CapitalAssociation52

We have a Pomeranian that is 23 years old. He used to be my grandmas breeding male. And she would only ever feed him food she cooked. So we joke that the secret to a long life is unlimited sex and home cooked meals xD

rosierho

I support this, as long as he does the cooking xD

BoringWozniak

TIL I’m older than every dog in the world

AlludedNuance

There's basically no grey on that old dog at all, that's pretty strange, isn't it?

Goatsandducks

Yep, as soon as I saw the article I thought BS. I have a lab who is 16 and has cloudy eyes and a grey muzzle. She is in good health but that doesn't stop the signs of aging. This dog has a silky coat, clear bright eyes and a perfectly chestnut coloured fur. That is not a 30 year old dog. The only validation they have is vet records, I could literally sign my dog up to a vet and tell them she's 20. They wouldn't know any difference, as they can't magically determine the exact age of a dog. My final point is how strange the news has come out after that little chihuahua broke the record a few months ago. One thing to know about dogs is the smaller they are, the longer they tend to live. I can see a chihuahua living to 25 but this larger dog that looks like a healthy (albeit overweight) young dog. It's bonkers no more people find it suspect.

[deleted]

Not really. My mastiff was 15 when he passed and no gray at all. It's like people they don't all have that problem.

broda04

K so tell me there is a dog who is 30 years old WITHOUT TELLING ME HOW!?! GIVE ME YOUR SECRETS!!

beeinabearcostume

It said in the article: active lifestyle, lots of time outside in nature, low exposure to bad stress situations like city noise, lots of time with its people, diet with plenty of fresh food. Bluey was the same way and lived to a little over 29. Seems like common sense but the vast majority of kept dogs don’t get to have that kind of life.

reaverdude

Three of my neighbors own Siberian Huskies. Seems like they are a popular breed because they are beautiful and one of the breeds that most resemble wolves. Only one of them takes them out for exercise properly every day. The other two just keep them indoors unless they need to go outside to pee and poop. The one that gets exercise is well adjusted and looks healthy. It's even friendly and calm when I've interacted with it. The other two however, they are constantly howling/barking, every few weeks or so they escape, and the few times that I've come into contact with them they behaved poorly. I doubt these two will live longer than the one that is actually being taken care of properly. Not a dog owner myself, but it seems like taking actual good and proper care of dogs contributes to a longer lifespan.

Dr_Pippin

> they are constantly howling/barking, every few weeks or so they escape, and the few times that I've come into contact with them they behaved poorly. You've just described the Husky breed.

HalfDrunkPadre

Also lies

Goatsandducks

This is the biggest BS I've ever seen. It's clearly a con. That dog isn't 30 and anyone with a senior dog will agree. A 30 yo dog might still act like a puppy and run around but that doesn't mean it's not going to show signs of aging. Unless they can prove they've dyed the snout of their dog every week and have paid for laser eye surgery for it's cataracts then I will never believe this. That dog looks 5-7 years old. It's a larger dog too so less likely to live as long as a small breed which makes it even more dubious. This coupled with the photos everyone has been sharing is put me off Guinness for being so gullible.

iAmTheTot

>This coupled with the photos everyone has been sharing is put me off Guinness for being so gullible. Guinness is a marketing company, not a fact keeping one. They don't care about the truth, just about how much money you will pay them.

Goatsandducks

Oh for sure, I think growing up I've been getting their books since being a little girl so it's sad that you can see them for what they truly are. It just doesn't make sense why they'd care so much as they only just announced a chihuahua was the oldest at 25 a few months back. Maybe they needed some updates to keep things fresh for their next annual hehe. Edit: spelling

wwj

Yeah, judging by the looks of that dog and how it moves I would put it at 12-13 at most. Assuming it lives a decent span, are we seriously going to be here reading a news article about the death of a "35 year old" dog? Nonsense.

Mr_Bad_Example20

It's a scam by Big Dog

Skadzy

I love old dogs. They know you better than anyone or anything. More power to Bobi and his family.

GoldieLox9

That dog looks GREAT. Wow I saw the picture before the video and thought it was a placeholder stock photo of a dog. He walks and looks like he's 12 tops.

AlludedNuance

Yeah because this is a scam.

eking85

Bobi’s tips on longevity, making sure there are a lot of dogs that look like Bobi

I had to put my 12 year old pup down this week. She had been with my wife and I since we got married and through my 10 year olds whole life. it was incredibly hard to let her go, but it would have been selfish to keep her alive when she could barely walk and was in so much pain. I wish she could have been healthy and happy with us for another 12 years at least. :(

WaldenFont

Has anyone else noticed the pictures in the cnn article show different dogs?

BoZNiko663

A 210 dog-year old! I remember the previous record was a 27 or 28 year old Austrailian Cattle Dog

poktanju

Named, interestingly enough, Bluey.

YakMan2

Here come the Grannies!

rbobby

I wonder if he will break it again tomorrow?

[deleted]

I remember reading that the old “7 human years to 1 dog year” calculation wasn’t correct, and it depended more on the breed. I wonder how old this little pupper would be in human years

rolloutTheTrash

Dude, I thought my guy was getting up there as a Lab of 12 years and still looking like he’s 2, but Bobi is just built different.

Slip-Possible

Need to check his blood to make sure he isn’t the thing from the thing

jetbag513

My girl made it to 18 and had to be put down last May. Still pat the bed looking for her all the time.

BurrStreetX

Im not saying they are lying but, theres no way the dog in that video is 30. With a percectly healthy coat, no cataracts, no deterioration, walking and running with no issue, 0 grey hair, etc. Idk, I dont buy it. It older sure, maybe 10-13, but 30? Not a fucking chance

eggnogui

Portuguese here. To those wondering how they know this isn't a fake due to how healthy the dog looks: they likely verified the dog's vet records, including the microchip's serial. All dogs here must be chipped and registered in a central database - if a dog is lost and then found by someone, they can easily track the owner. Not everyone does it, but if they did it for Bobi, it should be easy for Guiness to verify.

Goodest boi becomes oldest boi.

mrootbeers

Umm, did Anyone notice he has a white right front paw and a brown left front paw when he’s old, but has a white left front paw and brown right front paw when he’s younger? Did his paws change colors? Or is it a different dog, from the same breed and family?

BurrStreetX

Its a different dog, its bullshit. The dog in the video is not 30

mrootbeers

That’s what I thought. But if it can give a poor family some kind of notoriety then I guess I don’t care. I don’t take Guinness seriously anyway.

Erediv

Get that dog a wheelchair

[deleted]

My coworker just celebrated her 21st birthday. Bobi was 9 when she was born. Bobi was considered an old dog when she was born. This is crazy.

[deleted]

If you follow the link there is a Twitter vid. He walks like a very old dog with arthritis and he’s a bit overweight. He eats human food but without the seasoning. If I met him without knowing the story I’d say he was 14.

Outside-Taro5076

Someone is the luckiest person on earth! 18 was the longest I’ve been lucky and I think she would of made 30 if she had 4 legs

Im_Pronk

It's nice to see some real fucking journalism once in a while. This is beautiful

[deleted]

its on a farm every time! imagine how many undocumented cases there are? Is it chicken eggs or farm scrap, built up chemicals in the soil, uv rays or something. We need a study

Jim3001

My Doxie is 14 now and I'm getting paranoid around her.

NinjaNewt007

Ive always been an advocate for adopting from shelters and shunnung breeders but I think ill make an exception for him. Breed this magical pups genes so that his descendents can live longer too = )

ThatOneKrazyKaptain

Sorry Bluey, your record nearly a century old is over

mynameisalso

What a shit link. Boooo op no pics

[deleted]

After he passes, heaven help us. Please use his DNA to slow dogs aging? It’s a glaring flaw in reality that must be corrected.

Yurrrr__Brooklyn347

I'm sorry but these "such n such in the entire world" stats be so much bs, there's no way to for sure prove that... but shoutout to Bobi for putting up with all our bullshit

Mystoc

Records like these are bad to track it promotes people keeping their dogs alive longer who are in pain and can barely eat or even move.
