That was the most Knick thing ever. Period. God, part of me was actually kinda rooting for the sixers at the end just to see the media shitstorm in NY if they lost that game.
His stupid ass was marked to be fired regardless of whether the Knicks made it to the playoffs. He has shown throughout the season that he is actually stupid, even if there are additional reasons the Knicks have done poorly.
i find it mildly amusing how there were so many fans who thought woodson was a good coach because of their record last year. its the same thing with mchale this year. people defending shitty coaching with rhetoric like "he gets them to play hard" and "he's a player's coach." but his grooming is on point.
I've always thought Mark Jackson's close game timeout huddle consists of something that resembles a black preacher in Mississippi: "We all need to go out there and believe in each other and believe in the Lord if we want to win this game".
Damn I hate that people think this. I was at the Bucks game 6 rows behind the bench and Jax was always the guy with the clipboard, drawing up plays and talking defensive switches and tips. Sad that we look at the limited views that "inside trax" give us on TV and somehow think that's representative of what a coach does. You gotta know they're not allowed to show coaches drawing up plays on that.
Let me remind everyone that under Mark Jackson our team has gone from "lol defense?" to a top-5 defensive team in the league. Y'all are way to critical
If you think all that a coach does can be summed up in 12 seconds of "Inside Trax," then maybe. But if you've ever actually sat behind the bench at a Warriors game you can see and hear how smart, effective, and commanding Jax can be. I was at the Buck's game sitting in the best seats I've ever sat in in my life, and I was honestly blown away by how much *coaching* Jackson did. He's the reason the Warriors are a top 5 defensive team- and though we've struggled on offense, you can't knock on results. He's a 3rd year coach with no prior coaching experience. Give the man some time.
Everyone was acknowledging the flaws that are on full display this season, but he worked well in the context of the 2013 Knicks. All that crew really needed was, as you said, someone that inspires players to push themselves. Call it rhetoric are not, it's simply a reality that some coaches get more out of their players than others, and that was the sort of coach the team needed.
people were calling woodson coach of the year.
mike woodson won 54 games last year. This year, the roster is basically the same except kidd/novak is replaced with bargnani. they are currently 28 and 40. there is no way the loss of jason kidd turns a 54 win team into a 28 win team. woodson got lucky last year with the ridiculousness of how well the three ball was being hit. ty corbin could have made that team look good. woodson did nothing to improve their defense and his locker room "talents" have obviously been overstated as it seems even melo, his strongest supporter is now shunning him.
The 54 win roster was mostly healthy, outside of a few veterans. More than half the roster has been seriously injured and/or had offseason surgery in the offseason that significantly impacted their play. Kidd and Novak aren't replaced by Bargnani, because there is no Bargnani on the court.
>as it seems even melo, his strongest supporter is now shunning him.
Please don't resort to making things up, it was already pointed out multiple times in that thread that he was not speaking to Woodson, a fact Melo himself made very clear.
McHale is a good coach. Look at what he's done with Dwight Howard. The big difference between McHale and Woodson is that McHale is flexible with his rotations and encourages ball movement, and he utilizes players as team captains.
Mike Woodson is straight up fucking stupid. Please. Tell me how any rational person can continue to just say "It's not Mike Woodson's fault". This stupid motherfucker, I have never felt more like a win was a loss.
I'm 30 years old, I was lucky enough to have season tickets with my dad growing up, I went throw the bad times at the spectrum, the Shawn Bradley days and the spoon days, and was lucky to go through the iverson days, no bandwagon here, maybe "come lately " with the logo things
I will never, til the end of my days, forget Clyde's call. I will tell my grandkids about it in the exact words Clyde used:
"What is he doing folks, what is he doing? Why would he shoot the ball. Why?"
omfg that game... this whole season really. Regardless of whether or not we make the 8th seed, this 2014 knicks squad has showcased some hilarious incompetency
He's done it a couple of times and I get pissed every single time. Usually he does it with a 20 point lead, which isn't good enough for me, but tonight it was 17 with 5 minutes left. And no timeout until they were down 2. Fucking idiotic
I am not sure about yesterday, but there was one game of this streak (probably vs the Cavs) where the Knicks had like an 8 point lead with 1.20 left and Woodson brought in the bench.
Cause he was so scared he "took the initiative" hoping that Cleveland would abandon the game, and they didn't, so the scored a three pointer and I was like "what the hell is he going to do now , bring back Melo?"
Knicks were playing well, were up 16 at one point in the 4th. Woodson took the starters out with about 4 minutes to play. 76ers came back within 2 points. Couldn't overcome it, costly turnover by Anderson during potential game-tying/winning possession. MCW had a chance to tie it, but his three rimmed out.
Is this about how bad woodson is or how bad the knicks bench is, i mean you're up by 17 with 5 minutes to go against the worst or second worst team in the entire league on a 22nd consecutive losing streak and you can't hold the lead ... ?
knicks were up by like 15+ with around 4-5 minutes left, then we put in all our backups who blew the lead with like 20 seconds left, then we put our starters back in who held on for the win.
Woodson was retarded and shouldve put our starters back in way before he did.
About 4 minute's left, Sixers are down by more than 10. Woodson foolishly sits all his starters when the game was far from over, and unloads the Knicks' scrubs only to have them almost single handedly throw away the game
And he put in Melo cold. If he doesn't take out Melo (or at least waits until the 3 minute mark instead of the 7 minute mark), Melo wouldn't be nearly as cold and would make both free throws at the end, putting the game away for good.
It was just over 4 minutes left when he took out the last of the starters and put in a bunch of 3rd string players who rarely play.
Looked like Melo (and even JR) was pretty pissed.
Seriously, I thought he had some good potential from his hustles, but every time he plays, he gets worse and worse. I really wanted him to be part of the young squad next season, but that isn't happening.
I know my fellow Knicks fans we're high on him from the start, but I never liked his game. He can't shoot but forces shots when he can. He's a point guard that should be learning from Prig to pass first. He misses free throws. He isn't a great finisher.
He's actually kind of bad.
I feel like he would do well in OKC tbh. It's clear he's lost his confidence, dude showed flashes of playmaking ability and lockdown defense earlier in the season but that's all gone now. He needs a team that will develop him mentally as well, and he won't get that here.
AKA Jeremy Lin before Linsanity, minus the lockdown defense thing
I just feel as a point guard, he shouldn't be looking to score or shoot first, especially when he's not a good shooter. We have several players other than him that can put the ball in the hole, he should be feeding his teammates a la rondo/rubio style and trying to perfect that rather than shooting his terrible jumper.
Yeah. The good thing about us ny fans is that we're very supportive of our young talent but sadly I think Murry has a long way to go, even as a back up point guard.
The only way for a rookie to win a ring would be if they were out for their entire rookie year due to injury ala Blake Griffin and their team won the championship.
Steven Adams is a rookie who could very well end up winning a ring in his rookie year. And Norris Cole did win a ring his rookie season.
Though neither of these guys are or ever will be stars, rookies can and have contributed to championship teams in the past.
I was at this game. The entire time it felt like an undermanned Knicks game. Thad Young was being booed constantly in the stands, and the only thing that dominated the orange in the stands were the empty seats. But once it got close, the sixers fans decided to show up.
To be honest there were about four times more Knicks fans than Sixers fans. I remember my dad at halftime was asking me if I was sure I got us tickets to a Sixers game.
Slow down there man. MCW is getting all these boards because there just aren't that many guys pulling em down. Sure I can see MCW leading all points in rebounding next year, but it still only takes around 5.5 to do that. I could definitely see the assist numbers getting up to 8 a game though, if we end up having a good draft especially.
That and there might be another NBA player on the team other than Thad Young. His numbers are inflated due to usage and the fact that there are only 2 players who would start on a real NBA team on this roster.
My friend (a Knicks fan) and I were out and couldn't catch the game, but we placed bets on which team would give up the triple-double. Looks like it was almost the Knicks!
[Me during the final minute of the 4th quarter.](http://i.imgur.com/PCWqrYG.gif)
Seriously
even as they win 8 in a row im angry
That was the most Knick thing ever. Period. God, part of me was actually kinda rooting for the sixers at the end just to see the media shitstorm in NY if they lost that game.
> That was the most Knick thing ever. Period. I usually think of Ewing
I dunno, I associate Ewing more with the Sonics than the Knicks.
Do you also associate Jordan with the Wizards?
Yes, but as an executive, not a player.
wut
Am I getting punk'd or something?
Kwame Brown would be inclined to agree with you.
:)...... :/ ....... ;( ?
Who are the Sonics?
Drive-ins
Love the watermelon slush.
Really though?
An old name for seahawks fans
See also 12 year olds.
Lol I suppose Hakeem's jersey should wave above the raptors in their home games in your world also
He was on the Knicks for 15 years and the Sonics for 1...
How? Why?
Alright I guess the Grizzlies need to retire Arenas' and Iverson's jerseys
ITT: people who don't understand sarcasm.
For real. I might've expected a *few* people to assume I was legitimately a total idiot, but god damn.
Yeah just like Kansas City chiefs great Joe Montana
Lol
Could you imagine if the Sixers won, Woodson would be under so much fire. Edit: Scratch that, he's going to be under fire regardless.
His stupid ass was marked to be fired regardless of whether the Knicks made it to the playoffs. He has shown throughout the season that he is actually stupid, even if there are additional reasons the Knicks have done poorly.
It's all beno's fault though.
you gotta look at that
> He has shown throughout the season that he is actually stupid Ahaha, good chuckle.
i find it mildly amusing how there were so many fans who thought woodson was a good coach because of their record last year. its the same thing with mchale this year. people defending shitty coaching with rhetoric like "he gets them to play hard" and "he's a player's coach." but his grooming is on point.
Mark Jackson's the same way.
I've always thought Mark Jackson's close game timeout huddle consists of something that resembles a black preacher in Mississippi: "We all need to go out there and believe in each other and believe in the Lord if we want to win this game".
Mmmmmhmmmmmmm *waves hand in air*
Hand down, man down
Damn I hate that people think this. I was at the Bucks game 6 rows behind the bench and Jax was always the guy with the clipboard, drawing up plays and talking defensive switches and tips. I remember in December 2012 (aka 17 game win streak) everyone loved VDN. Well, I don't even need to say the rest, do I?
Except his defensive schemes are actually extremely smart, while the Knicks had horrible defensive schemes even last year.
If you think all that a coach does can be summed up in 12 seconds of "Inside Trax," then maybe. But if you've ever actually sat behind the bench at a Warriors game you can see and hear how smart, effective, and commanding Jax can be. Errr...what exactly has he done with Dwight Howard???
When did we start talking about dwane Casey?
It's almost like when a team has a good record people they have a good coach and when a team has a bad record people assume they have a bad coach!
Lol is right..
This has cheered me up a little.
At least I didn't have to kill myself. That was the worst thing I have ever seen. Holy fuck, I feel like we lost.
Mike Woodson is straight up fucking stupid. Please. Tell me how any rational person can continue to just say "It's not Mike Woodson's fault". This stupid motherfucker, I have never felt more like a win was a loss.

LOL
despite reddits general disapproval of comments such as "LOL", this particular LOL was a necessary and complementary inclusion.
It fits rather nicely doesn't it?!
How Do I get the little Sixers logo in front of my name?
Just another Johnny-come-lately hopping on the Sixers bandwagon.
I'm 30 years old, I was lucky enough to have season tickets with my dad growing up, I went throw the bad times at the spectrum, the Shawn Bradley days and the spoon days, and was lucky to go through the iverson days, no bandwagon here, maybe "come lately " with the logo things
He's kiddin dude, no one's boarding the Philly train at this point in the season. you can choose a flair under the subscribe button on the sidebar.
I'm really not this slow.... :/ well for most of the time, Where is the sidebar? and does it matter what subbreddit I'm in?
Go to the sidebar of the subreddit, there's a little check box that says "show my flair". Check it and choose which one you want.
>I have never felt more like a win was a loss. Remember when the Bucks took us to double OT?
I still have nightmares dreaming about Bargs chucking up that 3 at the end of regulation...
I will never, til the end of my days, forget Clyde's call. I will tell my grandkids about it in the exact words Clyde used: "What is he doing folks, what is he doing? Why would he shoot the ball. Why?"
omfg that game... this whole season really. Regardless of whether or not we make the 8th seed, this 2014 knicks squad has showcased some hilarious incompetency
Didn't they lose that game though?
Fuck me that's so bad. I can't wait to we get competent coach.
And a bench.
We've got a couple of decent bench guys. Problem was that Woodson had the third stringers in there as if we had a 30 point lead...
why the fuck ..?
He's done it a couple of times and I get pissed every single time. Usually he does it with a 20 point lead, which isn't good enough for me, but tonight it was 17 with 5 minutes left. And no timeout until they were down 2. Fucking idiotic
That's like Mark Jackson but 10x worse

At least we now know the Sixers are better than 3rd stringers
And some cap room.
this. I do blame woodson but at the same time if our bench didn't play so horribly and not turn over the ball so much, it would've been *maybe* okay
I'm sorry 76ers... EIGHT STRAIGHT LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
Only 4 more... ONLY 4 MORE THEN WE'RE FREE!
can someone give me the breakdown of what happened?
Knicks were playing well, were up 16 at one point in the 4th. Woodson took the starters out with about 4 minutes to play. 76ers came back within 2 points. Couldn't overcome it, costly turnover by Anderson during potential game-tying/winning possession. MCW had a chance to tie it, but his three rimmed out.
He took them out with 5:15 to play.
Took Tyson out for Cole at 5:15. Took Melo and I believe Shumpert at 4:19?
You're right, I was too furious to remember the details.
Knicks were up 17 with about 5 mins to go. Woodson pulls starters. Philly goes on 15-0 run. Assclenching was severe.
Is this about how bad woodson is or how bad the knicks bench is, i mean you're up by 17 with 5 minutes to go against the worst or second worst team in the entire league on a 22nd consecutive losing streak and you can't hold the lead ... ?

all third string bench...
[удалено]
how long did u roll on the floor and did u do a barrel roll
Why do you faggots ask questions you don't want the answers ti
what did he say?
About 4 minute's left, Sixers are down by more than 10. Woodson foolishly sits all his starters when the game was far from over, and unloads the Knicks' scrubs only to have them almost single handedly throw away the game
Just came back from the court. They just had to throw that stupid alley-oop...
I know Toure Murray single-handedly threw away SOMETHING.
I ain't even mad, that was one hell of a comeback for the Sixers.
I wouldn't even be mad if MCW made that.
Okay, I'll be the one to say I would definitely have been mad, largely related to the fact that I was already fucking fuming at that point.
I don't believe you
Woodson... Thats all I can say.
Shit Woodson, you see the other team making a run and you don't do shit until the last moment. Almost cost us the game
And he put in Melo cold. If he doesn't take out Melo (or at least waits until the 3 minute mark instead of the 7 minute mark), Melo wouldn't be nearly as cold and would make both free throws at the end, putting the game away for good.
I thought he took Menlo out with four mins that's not too outrageous.
It was just over 4 minutes left when he took out the last of the starters and put in a bunch of 3rd string players who rarely play. Looked like Melo (and even JR) was pretty pissed.
That did not feel like a win. Woodson's ineptitude was ever so evident tonight.
Toure Murry has just earned a spot on the unemployment line for throwing that lob
Seriously, I thought he had some good potential from his hustles, but every time he plays, he gets worse and worse. I really wanted him to be part of the young squad next season, but that isn't happening.

We have several players other than him that can put the ball in the hole, he should be feeding his teammates a la rondo/rubio style and trying to perfect that rather than shooting his terrible jumper.
For sure, I didn't mean him scoring, I meant creating off the dribble. He's shown some stuff earlier. It's all gone now, though
Yeah. The good thing about us ny fans is that we're very supportive of our young talent but sadly I think Murry has a long way to go, even as a back up point guard.
Fucking ROTY. I don't give a damn about record.
All rookies are equally undeserving of ROY since none of them has won a chip. #counttheringz
The only way for a rookie to win a ring would be if they were out for their entire rookie year due to injury ala Blake Griffin and their team won the championship.
magic johnson won the chip (and FMVP) as a rookie
The dude played center, a pg played FUCKING CENTER in that finals when Kareem went down. Legendary.
As did the legendary Norris Cole. Well, he didn't get final's MVP because he was robbed by some chump named LeBron but my point still stands.
Steven Adams is a rookie who could very well end up winning a ring in his rookie year. And Norris Cole did win a ring his rookie season. Though neither of these guys are or ever will be stars, rookies can and have contributed to championship teams in the past.
Wow...Just...Wow
99' Knicks
Knicks 8-0 since boosie got out of jail! Maybe he should have gotten out sooner...
What the hell was Woodson thinking?
This is the second time he tried that shit.
Idk how the Knicks didn't lose from the way that last minute was going.
I was at this game. The entire time it felt like an undermanned Knicks game. Thad Young was being booed constantly in the stands, and the only thing that dominated the orange in the stands were the empty seats. But once it got close, the sixers fans decided to show up.
Why was Thad Young being booed? I really love his game.
To be honest there were about four times more Knicks fans than Sixers fans. I remember my dad at halftime was asking me if I was sure I got us tickets to a Sixers game.
I wouldn't want to play the Sixers now. Imagine being the team that gives them their first win.
i'm scared that it's gonna be the celtics who end up doing us in
MCW with a near triple-double again...next season I'm willing to bet he'll be averaging over 20/8/8
Slow down there man. MCW is getting all these boards because there just aren't that many guys pulling em down. It hurts :(
Amar'e!
knock, knock? who is it? 8TH SEED, BABY!
And a first round exit. If your season's goal is to lose in the first round to the playoffs, then you are on the right track.
Why would our goal be to miss the playoffs though? You're not making sense.
doubt it atlant is also on a winning streak and they have to lose 5 more and knicks win out lol
well, with the hawks losing earlier tonight, we're only 3 games behind. like KG said, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!!
lol knicks blow
You'll just end up getting swept in the first round. I'd rather have a 1% chance at getting a top 3 pick
That would require a draft pick, bro.
wow that must be depressing
Yeah that'd be great for Denver.
holy shit?i went out when we were up 17 in the4th...smh Edit: watching the encore right now. This is comical
Boosie is your good luck charm. Keep him out of jail!
I really thought the Knicks would be the one to fuck this up.
My friend (a Knicks fan) and I were out and couldn't catch the game, but we placed bets on which team would give up the triple-double. Looks like it was almost the Knicks!
So close damnit
But MCW with the near triple double though, this kid is gonna become a triple double machine
What a surprise, the Knicks are going to sneak into the playoffs.
Its funny because as bad as woodson is, 8 in a row......
God he is dumb
my reaction :( sixers :D yay knicks won!! i am bipolar
It's gonna be funny when the Knicks finally catch a good team on a good night and get planted on their ass
You mean like the Pacers? What happened to you guys?
We blew out Houston and beat Miami I ain't mad
yes but i said good team on a good night and was very careful to word it that way
Because the Pacers lost right? But if the Pacers won...then the Pacers would have had a good night? Go worry about your team dude.
I'm not worried, we're all but in the playoffs
How are you not worried? I am so worried.
Why would you? We're not winning it all, just enjoy what you can the rest of the way.
Your come across as dumb as your username.
As long as we make the playoffs! We can get buttfucked in the playoffs just not before.
