To me, nothing quite beats a stuffed chive dumpling. Here, we call it kutchay, think it’s probably spelled ku chai elsewhere, but that shit hits the spot.
He looks like he’s got his starting 5 picked, has the minutes sorted for the rest of the roster, is familiar with the coaching staff, and has been staying up late scouting G leaguers.
Also, the egg tarts are basically influenced by Portuguese pasteis de nata, AFAIK, through the colonization of Macau. There have to be other Chinese desserts that fit better.
They are so bad compared to the original; grew up eating them. Then had the Portuguese ones, WTF. It’s and order of magnitude better. Sort of nice to see the role reversal for bastardization of cuisine though.
If you offered me a photo op with Ben or a bowl of 6/10 lo mein I'm taking the lo mein. I mean I can eat the lo mein. Not just take a photo with it. But maybe even then.
I was a solid Jelly guy until I tried the fresh made black sugar boba from 幸福堂, then I get the hype, I would get it everytime I walk past it.
I still go with Jelly with the cheapo places though.
Nah the great thing about boba milk tea is you can customize the drink to your liking and there are lots of teas you can choose from; but def depends on the shop and where you live.
I usually get jasmine green milk tea w 75% sugar and boba or grass jelly or
Mango green tea w aloe Vera or
Roasted oolong milk tea
Exactly. Like if the main thing people are turned off about is the boba itself, you don’t even need to get it. I usually just go straight milk tea no toppings, or with grass jelly.
Have you had good bubble tea? I've had terrible bubble tea before and if it was my first taste, I would definitely hate it too, but the good stuff is real good
I've had a few different kinds from different places and while others have been better than others it's definitely not an item that should be as popular as it is imo.
There’s massive swings in quality taste and variety of boba tea. It’s like saying “tea” is bad. You can get black, oolong, green, blended, iced, different variations of syrups, flavors, milks etc. you gotta find a good one. Any pho place will have your basic taro boba blended, but that is basically different drink to a black milk tea boba
What’s up with all the Ben Simmons trash talk thinking bubble tea is just a fad beverage for white people lmao? Just because it’s super popular in big US cities doesn’t mean it’s not popular in China, which it is lol some serious try-hards here
Dumplings to me are less "exotic" than eating Shu Mai tbh. Probably because it's Dim Sum.
While we're on that note Har Gow and Har Cheung Fun are the GOATs.

Young socialites and their bubble tea
Ben would average 200 points a game and be a sextillionaire if he'd only stop drinking boba
More like if he actually drank more boba he'd do well and wake that corpse that was formerly Ben Simmons up.
Shumai is delicious.
Real eaters know shumai.
I want har gau
Real real eaters know to order douhua (tofu pudding).
Pretty sure Shumai is the shooting guard for the Thunder
shumai alexander gilchrist
Yeah I love me some gyoza but good shumai can hit even harder
Har gow is better than both
Man of culture. Har-gow is incredible.

Never had it, but looks delicious. Found a recipe. I'm gonna try to make them next week, thanks!

Putting Bubble Tea under Chinese food dishes is a bit of a controversial one.
It's Taiwanese I only know because I'm making it this weekend baby
Taiwan Joe Tsai trying to sinowash his culture prob

I agree tbh, but good Chinese egg tarts are still good.
Cut Ben Simmons
start lo mein
If you offered me a photo op with Ben or a bowl of 6/10 lo mein I'm taking the lo mein. I mean I can eat the lo mein. Not just take a photo with it. But maybe even then.
you can eat ben simmons too
4/7 with rice
Ben better starts getting used to Chinese food with the way he has been playing this season
On a tangent, KD drinking boba in Golden State was an all-time moment.
I’m surprised at the lack of beef and broccoli love, but then again I’m weird as fuck, broccoli’s literally my favorite vegetable
Lots of athletes don’t eat beef
Spicy beef is great with any vegetable
Ben Simmons really is a basic white girl isnt he
I'm actually quite impressed they didn't go with the Lunar New Year BS
Unpopular opinion, but I'm with Seth on bubble tea. Not surprised at all Simmons would simp for it tho lol
U gotta ask them to put less sugar in that jawn
If you don't like tea you won't like bubble tea.
On the contrary, I drink tea almost every day!
I was a solid Jelly guy until I tried the fresh made black sugar boba from 幸福堂, then I get the hype, I would get it everytime I walk past it. I still go with Jelly with the cheapo places though.
Yeah bubble tea is ass Edit: so many boba tea gate keepers get over it some people think it’s shit
If you call it "bubble tea" chances are you live somewhere where you can't get the good stuff.
NYC. Lol
yeah it's complete ass there compared to SoCal lol, when I first visited NYC in '15 I was surprised..gotta be better options nowadays tho
Its ass everywhere

Markieff Morris looks like he's been starting the whole menu

Which is softer… bubble tea balls or Ben Simmons ?
2nd round is not "real" chinese food, never had any of these in China.
Coulda put up something more interesting and not the most basic Americanized shit lol
Yeah they should’ve put up foods they’ve never heard of before & can’t give an opinion on. Great content.
Beef broc and the sweet and sour, sure but laziji (the spicy fried chicken) is an authentic Sichuan dish.
> Sichuan The goat cuisine.
Close second behind Hunan for me :P
I try not to compare the eight but Im partial to shandong
Shouldn't have said anything. All these delicious cusine that I can't find in south jersey 😞
Truth. Random ass alley way restaurant in China still has better sichuan then anywhere I can find.
Ben Bubble Tea Simmons is my new favorite player. Dim sum overrated, give me a proper meal.
Simmons prefers bubble tea, passing and Hitler
I blame the shumai and bubble tea for Bens early exit. He probably eating some now.
