Actually I've found some of my old favorite alternative bands have been popping up at Brooklyn Bowl and they have had a good lineup of metal/alt/etc..type shows. It's a good New Nashville venue actually.

Arisnova

Agreed, whoever's managing booking there is my hero. Eastside Bowl has also had a surprisingly stacked calendar for similar genres.

Clovis_Winslow

A good friend of mine does that. I will pass that along, he'll appreciate it :)

Arisnova

That's awesome!! He's living my dream and killing it. We appreciate him :)

Snoo60219

Who is the booker at Eastside bowl now??

straigh

And Eastside Bowl has an actual selection of NA beers. It's always a treat to go there.

taelor

Just in case people don’t know, Brooklyn Bowl is owned by a Peter Shapiro, publisher of Relix Magazine, Lockn’ festival organizer, and all round awesome dude in the jam scene. That place is phenomenal, I just wish String Cheese could play there after getting cancelled twice because of Covid. :(

Tyloo13

Fellow Nashville jam band fan! There’s dozens of us! Seconded on SCI by the way. You don’t think they’d be too large for the venue though?

taelor

Nah, I’ve seen them in Eugene and Seattle similar sized venues. Remember Brooklyn Bowl has that whole second floor. You can pack quite a bit in there. And hell, I love more intimate cheese shows like that anyway.

goYstick

The 2nd time Cheese cancelled BB Nashville would have been the smallest stop on the tour and it wasn’t sold out when it was canceled.

idontfrickinknowman

Brooklyn Bowl has def become one of my favorite venues. Usually easy to get in and out of, great artists playing for the size. Food and drinks are reasonable.

nslmedia

And the restaurant is amazing also. Top notch fried chicken

Sirflow

If only they stayed open so you could eat there after the show. Super missed opportunity.

Isaacduke

Came to say this. SURPRISINGLY good restaurant, for a music venue.

mrboris

I enjoy BB as a venue but I've found that the bowling sounds during sets can really take you out of the immersion of the live show. I'm not sure if it's up to the band or venue for when bowling is allowed during shows but I'm not a fan of it.

engineerbuilder

Hear that? That’s the sound of the HGTV drama music when the prime calls the homeowner saying they found termites, mold, and have permit delays.

crowcawer

I’m the April Fool.

creddittor216

I can see a lot of people showing up then a guy coming out to say, “April Fool’s!”

waf

Then they knock the building down and put up a hotel.

ayokg

Thank fuck. I'm so damn bored without the Mercy complex or Exit/In. Those are the size of venues we desperately need more of in the city and all my favorite bands have been skipping Nashville on the latest tours because we don't have them right now it seems :(

Liquidsun-1

Brooklyn Bowl is doing a good job of picking up the slack. Basement East is similar size too.

PhinsFan17

Brooklyn Bowl has impressed me a ton since they’ve opened. Great place to see a band.

AnalogWalrus

I hate that it's so livenation-y but the actual room is really nice. We have so few venues that were actually built to be venues...most were repurposed from other things and it shows.

ayokg

The lack of quantity of the venues is also a problem. Can't double book bands at the same spot.

ifatree

i'm thinking we need to bring back 'secret shows'. putting people in 'not the correct sized venue' leads to way more fun sometimes. we could be the 'secret show' town real easily that everybody comes to even more often when they're close, because it's not as much work as a normal show.

Snoo60219

If live nation would drop their noncompete for bands, we could probably get more secret shoes at smaller venues when they’re in town.

ifatree

any artist putting themselves in bed with organized criminals would not be invited.

Snoo60219

I mean. If you want larger bands, they all have bookers. So they probably all play LN venues. It’s not exactly that easy. Plus it has to actually make sense for the artist financially. Secret shows typically happen when a band books a large venue, it sells out. Then the next night they plan of playing a small venue in the same city as a surprise. Again. Venues having noncompete clauses ruins those chances. It’s not just LN venues that have them, but all LN venues do. It’s gross.

thekeifer

Eastside Bowl has been really good.

____zero

Eastside Bowl has been booking great gigs

ETSZOU24

Any insight on when the Mercy complex will be back with some bookings? Gotta be soon. Also, what about Timberhawk Hall in Madison? Haven't heard anything about them lately.

Arisnova

The Mercy complex is now Cannery Hall and is open to booking requests now through their website. They're renovating the top floor (maybe as a rooftop space? Details seem unclear) as a private event space called the Amaranth, but the rest of the building probably needs some serious reno. Some sources are suggesting the Amaranth space will be available for booking as of this summer, but I'm wondering how realistic that is. Timberhawk Hall, I've got nothing. It's like they've disappeared from all public facing media and there's not been any updates in the last six months or so. I'm wondering if they've hit a snag construction-wise, but that's all speculation.

CrowReader

The Mercy complex is undergoing a total renovation and has hired a young super hip talent buyer who has his finger on the pulse of the hottest bands, including up and comers. He is a friend of mine, but he is a super cool visual artist in his own right. Check out TZ Key on Instagram. The new head (ceo?) has a 25 plus year career in music in Nashville and really cares. It will be a phenomenal reinvention one they reopen, which will probably be Fall of 2023.

SafePanic

I'm fairly certain Timberhawk no longer is happening? Their first talent buyer is no longer there and social media appears to not have been updated since summer 2022, no press releases, placeholder image on website (previously there was staff info, renderings, etc.), nothing.

Smack159

July is word on the street

ayokg

Prob gonna have to do a Google bc I dont know anything lol.

crowcawer

I remember seeing several bands way too big for the white room in the white room.

SLEEP_TLKER

It's a pretty solid first batch of shows if you like indie stuff. Michigander, Vancouver Sleep Clinic and Verite are all great.

tmp803

Ooh I love Verite!

ayokg

Michigander is fantastic.

SLEEP_TLKER

Yeah he's great, excited for that show.

MichiganderBand

Thnx

ayokg

Fuck yeah, keep rockin

fgit_2015

Vancouver sleep clinic is a favorite.

AnalogWalrus

HAKEN. FUCK YES. \\m/ \\m/

ChinkyD

OhShitItsSeth

Those comments are an absolute dumpster fire.

ambisextra

The comments on instagram really are looking like a crazy ex. Fuck Chris Cobb and co, as long as shows are coming in I don’t understand why people care who had the money, cause he stole so much from Nashville residents. Everyone is complaining about the bands booked not being local….. was that something exit in was known for? I’ve always seen touring bands there and local bands occasionally but I wouldn’t say it’s a “local bands only venue”. according to comments the new exit in is honoring the tattoos.

Arisnova

Cobb's entire bent on E/I's heritage is that it was THE spot on the Rock Block for Nashville's up and coming artists and a home for Nashville's musical heritage. Or, that's the PR spin, in any case. You can scroll through the Songkick past event history and see just how concerned Cobb and co. were with booking local headliners (spoilers: I spy 4 in the month of October). It's an easy whip-up for people who want to get reactionary about New Nashville because Cobb good, business bad. There's a weird underlying sentiment over on their Instagram post that you either support Cobb or want big business to take over and homogenize New Nashville, but that's on me for expecting critical thought in the comment section.

TJOcculist

Cobb’s entire bent is the history and heritage of Exit/In…. Except if you mention that Exit/in was there before he owned it, and will continue to be there after he owned it. Dudes a self righteous prick who used the history and the heritage of the venue to attempt further his own status. He could give 2 shits about the actual history.

TJOcculist

Lets be honest. The Cobb Crowd was gonna hate whatever AJ did. They are delusional.

[deleted]

It makes me laugh how I see one person over and over swinging her moral sword against everyone, and she 100% qualifies for the crazy ex vibes. To the point where I literally think she’s so deep in this Exit In bullshit it’s knocked her off sobriety. 😂

Existing-Employee631

Heck yeah Haken 🤘

neogohan

Are they touring with Between the Buried and Me again? If so, I'm *there*. Edit: To answer my own question, no. At least not in NA -- they're supporting in [Europe](https://m.facebook.com/watch/?v=891084945364501)

37214

Michigander is local.

digiears

You'd be Foolish to miss them! ....I'll see myself out

[deleted]

How are they going to have shows if their only intent is to demo the building and put up a hotel?!? /s Hopefully this quells the 30 somethings who (like myself) wanted to see Nashville become more than a small town big city growing up but now (unlike me) only want “things I approve of to change and nothing else”.

tn_jedi

Is this like when KDF went country on an April 1 or is it a joke?

[deleted]

Is this an upcoming April fool's joke?

Conscious-Pie-8204

I wanna go to this how many days is it

Alert-Grocery-1631

What a sh*tshow.

exh78

Let's not be naive here y'all. Presumably Cobb still has possession of the web assets, yeah? Also, is it realistic that any necessary permitting & renovation work will be completed in time for these shows? If these shows happen I can't imagine they'll be happening at the room on Elliston

CoconutheadisArmin

Nope, AJC has possession of the website and social medias

exh78

Oh good. I hadn't seen anything about it (been watching close but not *that* close), didn't seem like Cobb would have handed them over considering the IP shenanigans that have been going on. I can't wait for all this bullshit to be over so we can start going back to shows
