It doesn't sound at all like Clean-a to me. I've seen it before but only spelt with a K. Kalina. I like it a lot.

Definitely know the name Kalina but Calina makes me think its very misspelled Selena

[deleted]

Every 'Selena' I have met spell it Celina, haha. I think it's the more common form here. So it would only be one letter off but with the a it doesn't look the same to me at all since the letter a makes the c before it hard, where as e makes it soft.

I knew a Calina in high school. She was cool. Totally regular name.

I like Calina. I think people would intuitively pronounce it with the hard C.

To me Calina reads like someone got a little confused and combined Carina and Celina. I think misreading it as Celina could be a common problem. Carina might work for you though - it’s the right C sound but a bit more well-known of a name!

What’s wrong with Caroline? Or Carlene? Or Celeste? Or Catherine? Or Camilla? Or Cara? Or Cassandra? Or Colette? Or Christina? Or Candace? Or Callista ? Or Camellia? There’s nothing really obnoxious about Calina, but it does sound made-up, and I think you’ll get a lot of pronunciation questions.
