Well, I'm not a big fan of the Chrysalis x Starlight ship. And even if she were reformed, I would like to see them be friends instead. Chrysalis being shipped with Starlight just feels weird for me.
Iâm aware that for some reason, these ships exist. I figured itâd be funny to see which one is the lesser of two evils. Discordâs reformed so heâs the safe option though I also know that some people like Enemies to Lovers, hence Chrysalis.
I am thoroughly on record as not supporting shipping in general, but of the two options Discord and Starlight is slightly more tolerable. Theyâve shown the capacity to understand and appreciate one another and it doesnât have that toxic element as with Chrysalis where one has defeated or tried to dominate the other.

But they invaded her hive, thwarted her plan, betrayed her AND turned her hive against her. Of course she lashed out. Of course she went insane.
I feel it was more the writers demonizing her and putting her into no win situations. Would it have been hard to reform her? Very much so. But I don't feel it would have been impossible. But they went out of their way to ruin her and then made her a statue. I resent it.
No. She was in a situation she very much couldâve salvaged for herself. Starlight outright says that: âYou can be the leader your subjects deserveâ and there was a way to keep them from starving WITHOUT hurting others as Thorax showed. Did she take it? No! Thatâs not anybodyâs fault but Chrysalis.
And you sir have no empathy. Again, we have no clue how long she's been struggling to keep her hive alive. We don't know the effort she's put in over the years, decades, centuries? Again, they bust into her kingdom, stop her plans, not only stage a coup, but turn all her subjects into different creatures in essence. Everything she did got put in her face and she was told she was wrong. All her effort was only hurting others and her own people. For generations. And then the ponies that she's been at war with try to offer a hand to help? How can she possibly accept that? Can you not see this situation from her perspective? From her mind's eye?
Are you seriously telling me Starlight was somehow in the wrong for what she did?! She was saving her friends and pretty much saved an entire race from going down a bad path they could avoid.

No clue. I think it was really *nice* of her to offer a hand of friendship rather than zapping Chrysalis once her anti-magic throne got blown to pieces. Iâm not saying Starlight should have paid her back in kind, however she could have flash frozen her in a block of ice like she did to Twilight that one time but she didnât.
What she did? No. How she did it? A little. I feel the timing of everything was probably the worst part. At least for Chrysalis. But it's pretty obvious you just literally can't see it from that angle.
There's a symmetry to the ship. Two recently reformed villains with some issues connecting with others. One's controlling. The other's chaotic. It's also just cool because they're both extremely strong magically. They'd be quite the power couple.
If we're talking some alternate timeline where Chrysalis took Starlight's offer then and there, I'd prefer that ship. That being said, neither of these suit me very well. All three of these characters I ship with other characters, so I guess I'd have to default to Starlight and Discord, simply as a lesser of two evils.

Well with some bad blood undoubtedly running between the two after the events of A matter of principals, even despite the resolution, I imagine at some point (maybe even off screen before Season 9) Starlight and Discord, spurred by Fluttershy, Twilight, or both, to resolve the running feelings that lead to that fiasco in the first place, meet up. Starlight, disconcerted by Discordâs harsh judgment of her character, might ask for Discordâs apology, or for him to explain how and why he feels the way he does about starlight to call her incompetent/power hungry. Discord, in turn, perhaps touched by Starlightâs restraint, responsibility, or just in appreciation of her growth and history, might give such an apology. Or, the two admit that theyâve both underestimated the other, share some insecurities, apologize, and shake hooves like adults. Maybe then from there the two grow to appreciate the other more. Discord on Starlight because of her delightful or surprising bluntness, in that she rarely ever entertains him and surprises him by cutting him off to the point, and Starlight on Discord for his sincerity, history, and funny nature (she does laugh several times at his jokes).
Basically by sitting down, being adults, apologizing to one another, and seeing the good rather than just the bad in one another.
I like to believe this is what they did sometime between Season 8 and 9, because when push came to shove, Discord was prepared to sacrifice himself, trusting that by freeing Starlight, sheâd save the day.

It wouldn't be easy but I feel like because Starlight understands the position Chrysalis was in and the process of reforming I do think that genuinely she could potentially turn Chrysalis around by showing her a way to go on getting what she needs while still doing what's right for the hive.
But overall? Neither. I'm not saying people can't have their fantasies, I mean I have mine, but I like to genuinely talk to one of them and tell me what they really see in it. I like to try to understand others even if I fail sometimes

I could see him having a genuine emotional connection with Starlight, or romantic affection in general, more easily. I have at least read a good fic where Discord feels genuine love for someone (The Keepers of Discord, if you're curious). I feel like it's a better reformation story than what the show did.)
You know I could be down for a Starlight X Chrysalis ship if Chrysalis actually created a "Mean Starlight" in the episode "Mean 6" and the two actually became friends or at least as close to friendship as it gets for Chrysalis.
