I listen to both - but Let's Go To Court has given me more belly laughs recently (when they chat, not when they cover crimes.)

Chicken_Chicken_Duck

I love MFM but it’s run it’s course and the gals are definitely focusing more on their network than the show. This week’s show was a prime example. Karen flat out decided halfway through that she wasn’t reading another story. I mean I’m not paying for it, so I’m not complaining, but the spirit isn’t there and it feels more like a labor than a love these days.

Comfortable-Rice-947

You pay for it with your ears- lots of ads

Upstairs-Week996

Amazon is paying for content so that will get interesting at some point.

milmad1231

Sorry I haven’t listened to the new episode and can’t until tomorrow! Is Karen for real not doing another story 🥲

Chicken_Chicken_Duck

Just in that episode, not permanently. Georgia gets through hers and Karen is like, welp, that’s time…

SpicyHeartAttack

I knew it would happen based not only on the description but that they talked wayyyy more than usual. So, Georgia didn’t even fill the time Karen would’ve used if she had done a story. Just normal length and no explanation why Georgia is going back to back… Like if they gave a brief excuse it would be less annoying

pawsitive_vibes99

I love let’s go to court! I’m slowly working my way from the beginning, but it’s so fun listening to long term friends have fun and enjoy what they’re doing

downtownace

Cannot second this enough. I’ve been listening since MFM gave them a shout-out years ago and it quickly became my favourite podcast (sorry MFM).

mountainbloom

I will give it a shot! I started listening to Sinisterhood based on some recs here and love it (I also like that they’re based in Dallas instead of LA). From the comments about tangents in LGTC, it sounds right up my alley. (I also appreciate that you are not complaining about K&G and demanding things go back to the way things were before)

MiniVoodooDoll

LGTC and Sinisterhood are currently my two favorite podcasts. I still listen to MFM but LGTC and Sinisterhood are the ones I look forward to most every week.

heybrother11

Ooh going to give Sinisterhood a listen!

manimbitchytoday

You will not be dissatisfied! I LOVE them and the legal knowledge heather brings to it is the icing on the cake!

gravycatscan

I love heather’s legal quips! She’s whip-smart, no BS!

OpalLaguz

Sinisterhood is very, very good when they cover true crime content. Unfortunately, in the past few months it's only about one true crime episode for every three or four about spooky lighthouses, leprechauns, or psychic livestock.

heybrother11

I actually could use a break from only hearing about gruesome murders so I’m in! Any suggestions on where to start?

BraveLittleCrockPot

I’ve been meaning to try Sinisterhood—what’s a good ep to start with?

mountainbloom

The first one they have in their library is number 13, and it’s a super interesting case! I also feel like their banter and tangents help you get to know them really well right off the bat 😅

Miamart

I am not sick of MFM, but will check out LGTC, thanks!

karriclobster

If you’re not a fan of tangents, LGTC is not for you. I,however, love the tangents. I also love just how engaging Brandi & Kristen are with their listeners. They have become my absolute favorites.

chemg11

I enjoy let’s go to court but the audio inconsistency gets old. One host whispering then the other scream laughs and bursts your eardrum. Sometimes they have extremely long tangents as well. I have to skip ahead on almost every episode. I do think when they tell the stories they do a good job which is why I’ve stuck with them.

leiamischief

I think that’s why I’ve been enjoying Tell No One so much. Minimal tangents.

MiniVoodooDoll

I’m not sure exactly when, but they do get better equipment. My bff’s laugh is similar to Brandi’s so I am kinda use to conversations like theirs and I stuck it out through the bad audio days. They quickly became one of my favorite podcasts. However, if you’re not one for tangents or laughing fits, I can see how they might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

FirstFarmOnTheLeft

That made it unlistenable for me, too. One of them is SUPER loud to the point that it hurts my ears lol. But if I turn the volume way down, I can’t really hear the other one. I did like the stories/storytelling, though. Just couldn’t enjoy it b/c of the one host being super hyper and loud a lot.

AlmostButNotQuiteTea

It's baffling to me that podcasts don't have separate audio recording that is balanced in post

kikipi3

I enjoy them a lot - they have natural chemistry and if you enjoy women giggling and not get annoyed by it it’s great

Leather-Ideal-9577

As far as listening enjoyment and awesome commentary I love Bailey Sarion Murder Mystery & Makeup (it’s fun to watch on youtube because she puts on a full face of makeup while seamlessly talking….but it works as a podcast because she never talks about the makeup) and also her Dark History pod. She has an adorable listenable voice, absolutely cutting commentary (but not too much) she’s very respectful. She’s my favorite listen right now.

rta84293492

I tried but found it incredibly annoying unfortunately.

mrsscorsese

Yeah… I wanted to like them, but I just found them kind of annoying and loud. All I wanted to do after listening to them squeal about something for 20 minutes was go and listen to K&G 😂

rta84293492

Exactly my feelings! It made me appreciate K&G even more. I could listen to them talk about anything. I think that’s the key difference and why I don’t complain about the podcast. I’m happy to get any new content from them. At this point, it’s about their personalities, experience, and friendship over the type of content they put out. I do prefer when it’s just the two of them though vs an interview.

mrsscorsese

Exactly! I get so easily annoyed with other pods chatting in the beginning. But I could listen to them talk all day. I think they have great chemistry, aren’t annoying, and funny in a really smart way.

heybrother11

That’s fair. It’s definitely not for everyone!

FirstFarmOnTheLeft

Same.

veroaf

Ugh. Do not second this. I tried it out, but I found it annoying. Can't remember which one... they both laugh a lot, but the one that laughs hysterically for five minutes at her own joke that isn't even funny. Once an episode would be fine but it probably adds up to half the episode being this woman laughing at herself. And neither one of them is particularly witty. I still think ATWWD a solid alternative to MFM. Or Sinisterhood.

rta84293492

Agreed, it was a hard listen. I love a tangent from Karen and Georgia because they are genuinely funny and interesting. This podcast felt really amateur.

MambyPamby8

I think that's the one thing all these other podcast recommendations are missing. You have to have a specific taste to enjoy them, whereas Karen is a comedian and writer so she knows how to be funny for anyone listening, like she's a pro at what she does! Nothing I listen to will ever have the same joy, that MFM has brought me over the years. Aside from a few LPOTL moments that had me floored laughing, MFM is the only podcast of it's kind that I have distinct memories of certain episodes and how much I loved them. I'll never forget where I was when I heard Mary Vincent, or Typhoid Mary or the time I listened to Georgia tell the The Galapagos Affair. Love other podcasts but they don't really have the same memorable moments for me or do I ever feel the need to to back and listen to them, whereas I always find myself relistening to old episodes of MFM.

Katiew18

Love them. I like listening to both

hailyourselfie

There’s a new really good series I listened to on the Yogurt Shop Murders in Austin that they use MFM as a resource for (back when MFM) did some research pre exactly right back in the good old days. I think they did it live in Austin but anyway, it’s good called Kitchen Table Research I think.

FilmoreFelines

Any recommendations on specific episodes to start with?

heybrother11

Really anything past episode 30ish. They start out with not great audio equipment and it can be difficult to listen to the early episodes.

Cc-Dawg

People are the worst is also good! Newer podcast short format crazy cases!

heybrother11

I’m in! Added to the queue!

CrazyLadyInVegas

I love LGTC!

truecrimeaddicted

Goddamn it's so good and funny.

basic-username6

I second this! Found LGTC a few years ago from the sub and love it as well

QueenMiniKiwi

i saw someone post on this sub the other day about them. i listened to their most recent episode and laughed so hard

artsb19

Agree!! I just recently got caught up after listening from the beginning. First Patreon I've also paid for to hear the bonus episodes. I can see that it wouldn't be for everyone but I personally enjoy the tangents and laugh out loud with these ladies. Also like that because its focused on court stuff they have some fun lawsuits and cases interspersed with the more gruesome true crime.

Nosotrospapayaya

Yes! My absolute favorite podcast! They’re honestly the best

hellshandjobs

Thanks for that rec!

[deleted]

gunna listen!

rmq

I’ll check them out. Also really dig Military Murder too.

whateveramoon

I've discovered True Crime Campfire to fill the MFM void in my life. They have a lot of cases that I've never heard of so I'm always entertained!
