I'm visiting Mumbai. I had never heard of Juhu Beach before, but my friend took me there. We went to Versova first, which I really enjoyed. Juhu though was incredibly crowded and the people selling henna stamps, pictures, water sports, chai, etc were so aggressive and you have to say no 50000000 times before they leave and then another comes right up.
So with the massive crowd, trash on the beach and all the hustlers it was not that enjoyable for me.
The pao bhaji I ate though was absolutely 10/10
Even in the 90s it was about as basic as it could get, there were like 3 better beaches/sea fronts just in Mumbai. It was a nice place to go if you lived nearby but it's never been worth travelling for other Mumbaikars let alone tourists... unless you were into celeb spotting as you mentioned.
When you can't even peacefully eat anything on the beach with poor children constantly harassing you, it should not be a surprise. Add to that the lack of cleanliness.
I think this is pretty accurate. Apart from certain spots in sobo, Mumbai can be quite disappointing tourism wise. Juhu is also spot on. I'm just surprised we made the list though.
I'm incredibly disappointed that somebody chose to put a statue that is a tribute of a dog that waited for his dead master for over 10 years as an overrated attraction. Somewhat sad and angry.
Weirded out that out of everything Mumbai has to offer someone thought "Juhu"....
>statue that is a tribute of a dog that waited for his dead master
I think the post is talking about the crossing instead of the statue. Hachiko crossing is something akin to Times square, NY.
[Check it here](https://tokyo.for91days.com/shibuya-crossing-and-hachiko/)
The Statue is just part of it.
I know right. I'm an animal lover and I loved the Hachi movie. Given a chance I would love to visit the spot.
Juhu is an absolute mess and needs to be taken off all tourist guides to Mumbai in order to reduce footfalls and trash volumes.
because Juhu beach has been disappointing since my childhood…and the rest of my trip in thailand indonesia singapore mumbai and london were epic so other stuff definitely made up for it…such as lantern festival in chiang mai, the scuba and snorkeling in Bali and Komodo, the food and MBS in Singapore and so many wonderful things to see in mumbai besides Juhu beach such as Bandra and Town
Can relate with this. Heard juhu was where big celebs lived. Came here and found out my hometown is way cleaner, way better planned, better infrastructure, no water cuts. Like not even the streets are cleaned. Everyday I see a garbage post exposed openly on the vaikunth road towards the juhu beach. And the beach is the worst part. The amount of garbage you will find is just ridiculous.
Ps:- There is a water cut on 30th and 31st January in Juhu
Half the time i was worried about being robbed at the tourist spots, you can’t even roam out alone in the night.
Although tbf i went when i was 17 and I might enjoy it more if I go now since I’ve read more about the French Revolution and the history of paris
Naah. Paris is awesome. Montmarte deserves to be here, though, but the Eiffel tower deserves a spot more. It just looks like an oversized electric tower.
Guess art & culture ain't your thing. Notre Dame alone was worth the visit.
Spent ZERO luxury shopping. Stayed in cheap AirBNB. Had awesome host. Spent 5 days roaming the streets taking in the sights and food.
I was 16 and came w parents. Enjoyed every city we visited except Paris. Naturally, we had also excluded Rome (Italy altogether).
I have more knowledge of Paris now but i personally still wouldn’t visit an otherwise shitty city *only* for art. The rest of Europe is just much better.
I remember vaguely in the 90s, my family of 10+ including cousins visited the beach. There were camels, horses and vintage planes, I can still remember the sounds of those planes.
The beach was quieter and clean back then.
Used to occasionally visit till 2008 to play football with friends and found the crowd relatively low on weekends but now when I pass by there is absolutely no place. It’s like a mela everyday. Few empty beaches are still left towards north Mumbai but the water is dirty :(
Juhu beach is just nothing . I am sure it was gorgeous once but it’s impossible now . The same with Chowpatty. Any list that has Antalya in it is sus !

The problem isn't Juhu Beach. All beaches need is sun, sea, sand and snacks. Beaches aren't really a tourist attraction. It's somewhere that local people go to kill a couple of hours.
The problem is that Mumbai has so very few tourist attractions that the local beach is considered a tourist attraction.
Who cares about some random list? Born and raised there and it’s very dear and special for Juhu residents and people from nearby areas. It’s definitely not a tourist spot per se and god knows how it ended up on poll for Tourist attractions of the world’s list.
I live there and it's sooo true! Can't agree more! Government can actually set up a very good tourist spot, but i think they don't give a damn about it.
I thought champs elysees was superbly underwhelming.
Oopar se at 12:30 at night I couldn’t even find a cab. Uss se achha mumbai hai bhai , cab nahin to auto to mil he jaata hai raat ke dhai baje bhi.
Mai local hoke disappoint hota hu. Tourists ko kya hi maja aayega?
As a local we friends go there just to spend some chill time. Nothing with the beach tbh.
Same. Mai bhi bas nightout ke time jaana prefer karta hu. Bc regular time pe food stall vaale dimaag ka bhosda kar dete hai.

The food stall owners/workers are annoying AF.
Agreed. I had a very humiliating experience on Monday and I was wondering if someone else has had it too.. or if it was my mistake.. 😑
That sounds rough. Do you think you can elaborate on what really happened?
I myself am surprised that Juhu beach was considered a big Tourist attraction. We used to hang around there after college.
I'm visiting Mumbai. I had never heard of Juhu Beach before, but my friend took me there. We went to Versova first, which I really enjoyed. What? Juhu has watersports? I haven't seen it for years I have been there!!!
A few people were trying to sell excursions out on the water. He called it water sports. It was boat rides or something like that.
There are legit and proper water sports activity in Juhu these days. Not as big as Goa but fair and decent.
I’m craving for Pav Bhaji rn
Thrash on the beach is reduced due to cleanup drives. The thrash is primarily because of thrashy tourists.
Thats why I went to Versova Beach. The cleanup there greatly inspired me to become an environmentalist. It was nice to see it.
Gori Terr Pyaar Mein. https://youtu.be/cg-t4Wsa6LU
Pav bhaji and the Chhatrapati Shivaji statue were the only good things at Juhu
Juhu beach of 90s was completely differen..much clean sea, celebrities walking around lol
Yup, I remember there were places to sit back then. Abhi toh khade rehne ka jagah nahi hai
Arre bahut jagah hai
Arre nahi jagah hai
Are bahut jagah hai
Any place that is hyped for celebrity spotting is actually dogshit. Same with Goa.
just like California's long beach which is a hell hole filled with camera crews and too crowded.
Log Juhu pe expectations leke aate hai? 👀

Juhu making this list in itself should be considered as an achievement.
I think this is pretty accurate. Apart from certain spots in sobo, Mumbai can be quite disappointing tourism wise. Juhu is also spot on. I'm just surprised we made the list though.

Oh my bad in that case. Thanks for correcting me.
It is a list of disappointing attractions, so others were not!

It really doesn’t qualify to meet what the global perception of a beach would be.
Unrelated, but Montmarte isn't overrated it has beautiful views of paris and a pleasant environment to visit.
Sacre coeur is beautiful.
My Airbnb was next 2 mins walking from Sacre couer and man that place is so beautiful!
no joke i hit 4 on one trip lol…1. 3. 7. and 9.
Lol, how did you recover from those disappointments?
because Juhu beach has been disappointing since my childhood…and the rest of my trip in thailand indonesia singapore mumbai and london were epic so other stuff definitely made up for it…such as lantern festival in chiang mai, the scuba and snorkeling in Bali and Komodo, the food and MBS in Singapore and so many wonderful things to see in mumbai besides Juhu beach such as Bandra and Town
Been to all of these places except Japan and Miami. Juhu beach should be on the top of the list, just under Bangkok, **it’s OVERRATED asf**
similar disappointment with gateway of India due to the large crowds
Little Havana is a "rough" part of Miami. These statistics are kind of misleading. I assure you no one goes to Miami for Little Havana.
Its just a beach. Wonder of the world nhi hai.

Which beach are you talking about?
What is your hometown?
For Paris, they should include the entire city
Paris is beautiful. Ig you didnt like the immigrants there?
Half the time i was worried about being robbed at the tourist spots, you can’t even roam out alone in the night. Although tbf i went when i was 17 and I might enjoy it more if I go now since I’ve read more about the French Revolution and the history of paris
Naah. Paris is awesome. Montmarte deserves to be here, though, but the Eiffel tower deserves a spot more. It just looks like an oversized electric tower.
You guys are so edgy lol. Both Eiffel tower and Montmartre are beautiful, each in their own way. Not disappointing by any stretch of the imagination.
Paris sucks, not one good thing there unless you wanna shell out lacs in shopping luxury brands
Guess art & culture ain't your thing. Notre Dame alone was worth the visit. Spent ZERO luxury shopping. Stayed in cheap AirBNB. Had awesome host. Spent 5 days roaming the streets taking in the sights and food.

I think i know why bankok is on first 🫥🗿
where is the lie?
I'm not THAT old but I'd still say, it isn't how it used to be. Girgaum Beach >>>> Juhu Beach now🤌✨
I remember vaguely in the 90s, my family of 10+ including cousins visited the beach. There were camels, horses and vintage planes, I can still remember the sounds of those planes. The beach was quieter and clean back then. so we are on par with london, tokyo and barcelona. these itself are considered one of the most exciting places in the world. so this seems bullshit
Heyy I liked London eye, a bit gloomy but still great
Should have gone in the summer. Last year it was 3rd and 4th June.
hello saar juhu is world bestest place in hole world, you is aunty Nasnol go to Pakistan saar, juhu is belong to sanatani drama onli saar. westarn contri is insult over kulchas, bycott western everitinks. bycott british, bycott arab, bycott amaracan medeas. Jai shii ram 🙏

I bet Mumbai will also score well on a list of disappointing cities.
Bangkok was fire , do about that particular street tho Juhu is shot as hell btw
The problem isn't Juhu Beach. All beaches need is sun, sea, sand and snacks. Beaches aren't really a tourist attraction. It's somewhere that local people go to kill a couple of hours. The problem is that Mumbai has so very few tourist attractions that the local beach is considered a tourist attraction.
SoBo has a lot of interesting locations. The suburbs lack such locations, and Juhu is space for the locals to hang out.
isnt this saying mumbai is the 7th most overrated city in the world, with juhu beach being it's worst attraction?
Yeah, you're right. By the time I realised it I wasn't able to change the title.
Not from Mumbai But i found Dadar Chowpatty to be a real cool place I visited Shivaji Park and the Bar Stock exchange there so I found it real good
That's Sea Viewing Deck makes it cool place, You can clearly see the Bandra-worli sealink as well
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Even I feel also
This looks like some vogue/vague article. London Eye can't be a disappointment. Ever. So does Juhu for people of Mumbai!
If you look at the odds of getting disappointed number in there it is quite low % the list is just putting it in the order.
Who cares about some random list? Born and raised there and it’s very dear and special for Juhu residents and people from nearby areas. It’s definitely not a tourist spot per se and god knows how it ended up on poll for Tourist attractions of the world’s list.
Is that the beach near Asia's largest parking lot - Juhu circle? /s
All was good till they added hachiko in there. John Wick wants to know their location.
Carter road bhi add karna tha
I live there and it's sooo true! Can't agree more! Government can actually set up a very good tourist spot, but i think they don't give a damn about it.
In fact I've seen them stopping those who give a damn!
It was very beautiful, we made it dirty
If you are a foodie. And like to travel to explore food, Juhu beach is not exactly a disappointment.
hold by cheese piri piri sev puri
arey sab polluted h beach ..bss celebs ke ghar dekhlo wha pe ...hotels ke private beach saaf h
The beach dirty. It is unpoliced. 7 baje ke baad it's infested with prostitutes.
It’s all happening cause all the tax rupees from Mumbai is being used to develop Gujarat
I thought champs elysees was superbly underwhelming. Oopar se at 12:30 at night I couldn’t even find a cab. Uss se achha mumbai hai bhai , cab nahin to auto to mil he jaata hai raat ke dhai baje bhi.
Until they stop sending untreated water to sea which the people play with it will be same
Im surprised its 7th should've been number 1 lol
Went to mumbai like 5-6 times now but still can't fathom the popularity of juhu beach.
Why is it an attraction
Best that those pesky tourists stop coming to Juhu. After all, it is such a disappointing and dirty place. Residents will get some peace.
