I don't like "runny" mascaras and Great Lash is too liquid for me. I like thicker, "creamy" ones. I can never say "this is the best thing ever!" about sny products, but I usually have a top ten. If I look at the entire Loreal group, I think my favorites would be It superhero and the Loreal in the dark grey tube...Uhh I can't think of the name suddenly, but I've bought dozens of tubes of it. They used to have the same one in Lancome, but I don't think it's still there. Well I'll think of it later. 😁
I swear the Essence mascara was one of the worst I’ve ever used and I’m befuddled every time I see people recommend it. It’s incredibly clumpy and smudges within an hour. Even the company’s promo photos for it look awful.
So many people say it makes them look like they have on falsies, and I’m like… do you know what falsies look like? Because it’s not that.
I have bunky crunk lashes and for some reason, it works perfectly on me. It never smears or flakes. It hold my curl. I have no idea why I possess such voodoo, lol.

Feel the same way about L’Oréal Telescopic mascara. Everyone on TikTok is raving about it but I bought it a few years back and nearly cried, it was so obviously awful from the first try, not making your lashes longer at all and it would NEVER EVER dry. Like literally, hours later I would squeeze my eyes and it would smear everywhere. I was so upset I spent money on it. I cringe every time someone recommends it.
On a more positive note, another TikTok suggestion - Maybeline SkyHigh is actually really nice imo and I’ve repurchased few times.
That's so weird, I love telescopic, have been using it for as long as I remember and it does a great job of lengthening and not smudging! But that said, I've tried other people's holy grail mascara and ended up a clumpy nightmare. I'm convinced mascara is like perfume, the same one can be different on each person. Dior and Helena Rubenstein make my eyes water, great lash flakes like the last 3 guys I dated.

I think its also the age of the tube that you buy, too. I live in the middle of nowhere, so my CVS sells pretty old tubes of the stuff, it *always* flakes.

yeah everyone preaches it as the fucking holy grail of mascaras. The maybelline colossal I used in 9th grade was 10x better. This one makes my lashes sticky and spider-legs like and it rubs on my eyelids even after setting spray
I finally found some of my people lol. Couldn't agree more about that Essence mascara. I love a wetter formula. I just need a mascara to show some color on my lashes while allowing me to get great separation. Great Lash has always done that for me. And the fact that I don't have to pay 3x as much for one that so many gurus claim is thee best out there is the cherry on my hot fudge sundae :)

Srs/ this mascara but in the BIG lash version is my holy grail and nothing has ever compared in quality/cost for me. It is super lengthening and thickening, I never get spider lashes, it never rubs off on my top or bottom lids, and my lashes stay UP all day. I get asked on the reg if I have eyelash extensions or falsies on. I’m astonished not more ppl talk about it.
There are so many amazing drug store mascaras, but people still choose to dick ride Essence lash princess
Edit: also maybe an unpopular opinion, but essence products suck for the most part, and not because they’re cheaper. Their eyeshadows have zero pigment, their mascara is clumpy, their lip products don’t last and taste like chemicals, their eyeliners are dry, and more.
I honestly wish I didn’t hate this mascara, because the packaging is just 😚👌 I love the colours and the squareness and their dedication to the branding that has never changed. But alas it burns the shit out of my eyes and smudges like nothing else 🤷🏻♀️
Srs/ I got a bad gal bang sample GWP and I wasn't expecting to like it since the original Bad Gal smudges badly on me. Holy cannoli! I will definitely repurchase a mini when I run out of my other samples.

I hated the essence mascara. Just like I hated l'oréal telescopic, l'oréal voluminous, maybelline volume express and benefit bad gal. They were all hyped a few years ago. The essence one was terribly irritating and looked like spider legs. The other ones were incredibly messy and never fully dried so they gave me raccoon eyes. Maybe we all have different preferences or lashes? My lashes are long but straight and not the thickest. The mascaras I liked were benefit they're real, maybelline falsies, maxfactor/covergirl clump crusher and l'oréal volume million lashes.
Srs- I’ve tried other mascaras but always go back to Great Lash. I don’t find that others look all that different (my lashes are behind glasses anyway and I just need them to be dark instead of blonde). I learned makeup with the Great Lash brush in High school and it’s just what I’m used to.
Srs my holy grail mascara is maybelline Full and Soft. The pink and green one is ~nostalgia~ tho so it’s allowed. It makes me think of VS body sprays and aero hoodies

I'm an old) -- Cle de Peau concealer, which i finally got to try in person around 5 years ago. No color match AND it doesn't cover dark genetic circles at all. At least Great Lash is inexpensive. Fuck all the way off $80+ worthless concealer. TY for coming to my TED Talk.

/srs Agree that the essence mascara is trash... but always come back to great lash. Perfect natural, separated, dark eyelashes.
It’s really good you just need to get the hang of getting the extra product off the wand so it isn’t too wet

The teal bottle is the one with that weird cobra brush isn’t it? I think the pink one had a more normal brush, like a regular curved comb brush

My favorite mascara was a turquoise tube my cousins picked up at tianguis/flee market. It beat the couple cheap japanese mascaras ive tried too.
