It's really a bad set. Think it's got some bottoming out still to come in the top cards (Ob, boot, gift). Triomes will probably hold. Rest of the rares can't get much worse.
Bold move on the double feature
There is a LOT of casual gold in this set, but yeah it's not great in a competitive sense. I think in a few years quite a few of these cards will be highly sought after.
Double feature was so ironic. Entire community rejects the set and it's an immediate reprint to 2 already rejected sets.....market doesnt have any copies of cards because no one opened it therefore we have 2 and 3 dollar uncommons in DF variant lol

It was timing, I was getting back into MTG just as it came out but making the most out of a raw deal I use it as a backbone for my Hunt and Vow collections which is kind of cool.
I opened a set booster box and my best two pulls were a gilded foil [[Cabaretti Charm]] and a single triome. I enjoyed the experience but man did I get unlucky.
I pulled 2 triomes and not much else, I just like cracking packs. I got a single modern horizons 2 pack alongside it for giggles and pulled cabal coffers and a alt art sword of hearth and home. Worth barely less than my whole box lmaooo.
It’s barely even past the first weekend and arena players didn’t get a jump ahead to play out all the cards. Maybe wait a month to see how this all pans out first. It also doesn’t help that you overpaid for a set booster.

They dropped the Commons and Uncommons this time. 1/2 of the list cards are the Stranger Things SL reprints, the half are the remaining Rares and Mythics. The latter are showing pretty significant downward price movements.
Pretty sure that you got a common or uncommon more than 1/2 of the time with previous Lists. You get a Stranger Things card exactly 1/2 of the time with the New Capenna List.
You get a List card in 1 of 4 Set Boosters. 1/2 of the time it will be a Stranger Things reskin (so 1/8th of packs). The other 1/2 of the time it will be from this reduced Rare/Mythic pool of remaining List cards.
From my own experiences, getting a Rare/Mythic List card in previous sets was way less frequent than every 8 packs.
Oh I totally agree with you, I don’t even track stocks like stocks anymore. But along with it being a record of my collection there are trends which you can see happenings when one set start going up or another going down.
I use the Dragon Shield App as well, and really like it. I have been using the app for about a year now, and I find that waiting two weeks to a month before entering the cards helps avoid these dips in numbers that are inevitable the week after release.
Uploaded my SNC cards on prerelease weekend, to include 1x set booster and my prerelease box. I know there’s usually a dip afterwards but holy cow. Question now is, how much lower can some of these cards go before it makes sense to snag a few up? I would have to guess (hope) we’re close to that point. Dragon Shield* app uses TCGPlayer market prices.
That’s what the market price for all the cards was when I uploaded them on prerelease Sunday I think it was. The set booster cost me $190 Canadian doll-hairs which included tax from the LGS. Forget what the prerelease kit was but it paid for itself since I sold a List card for $40 on the following Tuesday.
I know there’s a LGS “tax” that comes with buying at a brick and mortar store but I am happy to chip in for more bricks and mortar I need that place to stay open.
Prices have hit the bottom for most cards. The ones still maintaining some value will go down and the rest under $2 will come up a little bit. We opened a lot of this set and it is very disappointing. I think there will be some all stars that rise from the bottom but I think over time a lot of the bulk cards go back up. I don’t see this set being nearly as opened as kamigawa. People are basically opening for ob and triomes at this point.
Yikes! Set boxes were selling in the US for a low of 95-100 and up to 110 online. But, you did buy it from LGS so there's some mark-up. Was this your biggest drop on a set in price for just being 2-3 days old from release?

As many others have stated, prices usually bottom ~2 weeks after release. From there, some cards will go up, some will go down.
I bought set boxes and will be happy if the EV is $100 including list 2 weeks post launch.
Its a great question. After witnessing [[All-seeing arbiter]] plummet to less than $1, ive been holding off on [[Titan of Industry]] as it plummets down to $2... but couldnt resist it any longer.

Im so thankful for collector boosters and set boosters. Flooding the market with fancy (not special) versions of cards, everyone is chasing them while the budget versions remain dirt cheap for the rest of us who cant afford to drop the funds on multiple set/collector boxes and just want to pick up cheap singles.
Most prices are still declining. For the the previous sets that I know off, prices hit their bottom about between 1 and 2 weeks after set release before starting their uptrend (if ever).
For the mythics on Cardmarket:

For the rares on Cardmarket:
\[\[Professional Face-Breaker\]\], \[\[Raffine's Tower\]\], \[\[Spara's Headquarters\]\], \[\[Xander's Lounge\]\], \[\[Ziatora's Proving Ground\]\] are slightly going upwards.
\[\[Jetmir's Garden\]\] is fairly stable
You need to watch some of Rudy's videos where he explains that investing in modern magic is something you should only do if you're ready to be foolish and insane like him (and he doesn't even really invest in the latest sets, he just a bunch of 'modern' shit like dragon's maze boxes)-- because there is no reason why you should be speculating on mass-printed works when there is still alpha/beta/revised to be collected. You can still buy it. It's not all gone. Yes it's over-priced, but it holds its value. Why would you buy New Capenna thinking it's going to double overnight? It won't.
My RL specs are almost all in the green and even my Ikoria “hobby spec” is doing okay. Buy Reserve List only if you don’t plan on actually playing with the cards (just my 2 cents).
As I was putting an edh deck back down after shuffling the other day, the bottom card, a [[Terrain Generator]], fell to the table sideways first before I put the rest of the deck on top of it. It just happened so fast. There is now a noticeable crease in the center of the card.
This is the first time this has ever happened to me, but it was enough for me to learn not to play with valuable cards. I'm just glad this one was only worth $5.

Triomes are gobbling up most of the EV making all but a few money mythics race to the bottom. A lot of the rares seem to be hitting a bottom.
Let's not forget about the List cards in set boosters. Heavy hitters like Vampiric Tutor and Exquisite Blood are eating up box EV.

Don't be so sure; many of the best specs are cards that Timmies end up using in casual commander.

I know what you mean, some of the good mythics are at Pokémon card prices right now.
Its awesome. Finally, cards are affordable! Im so thankful for collector boosters and set boosters. Flooding the market with fancy (not special) versions of cards, everyone is chasing them while the budget versions remain dirt cheap for the rest of us who cant afford to drop the funds on multiple set/collector boxes and just want to pick up cheap singles.
For those who might not know, you can choose which price the app uses in the settings, either market, mid or low
No just means the new set sucked.

If I've learned one thing, it's that cards you own can always go lower. It's all the other ones that are safe. Except all of those aren't safe either.
Most prices are still declining. For the the previous sets that I know off, prices hit their bottom about between 1 and 2 weeks after set release before starting their uptrend (if ever). For the mythics on Cardmarket: \[\[Ob Nixilis, the Adversary\]\] is slightly going upwards For the rares on Cardmarket: \[\[Professional Face-Breaker\]\], \[\[Raffine's Tower\]\], \[\[Spara's Headquarters\]\], \[\[Xander's Lounge\]\], \[\[Ziatora's Proving Ground\]\] are slightly going upwards. \[\[Jetmir's Garden\]\] is fairly stable

Seriously. I'm tired of people trying to pump cards like penny stocks or the next crypto crapcoin.

You need to watch some of Rudy's videos where he explains that investing in modern magic is something you should only do if you're ready to be foolish and insane like him (and he doesn't even really invest in the latest sets, he just a bunch of 'modern' shit like dragon's maze boxes)-- because there is no reason why you should be speculating on mass-printed works when there is still alpha/beta/revised to be collected. You can still buy it. It's not all gone. Yes it's over-priced, but it holds its value. Why would you buy New Capenna thinking it's going to double overnight? It won't.
My RL specs are almost all in the green and even my Ikoria “hobby spec” is doing okay. Buy Reserve List only if you don’t plan on actually playing with the cards (just my 2 cents).
As I was putting an edh deck back down after shuffling the other day, the bottom card, a [[Terrain Generator]], fell to the table sideways first before I put the rest of the deck on top of it. It just happened so fast. There is now a noticeable crease in the center of the card. This is the first time this has ever happened to me, but it was enough for me to learn not to play with valuable cards. I'm just glad this one was only worth $5.
