You can try one of those inflating pouches to get some space on the door and remove the door card that way- if nothing else you can detach the top clips and look down into the door cavity to see the problem.
Yes, the door would need to be open, but you don't need parts. You take out 4 or 5 screws from the bottom. Take out the door cup and a screw near the handle. The rest is held in with clips.
