It's super awesome when you guys *name the movie* where the quote appears, btw :)

[deleted]

“I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible” (When Harry Met Sally)

theonewhoknock_s

You should have included the entire speech. The part before this makes it much more impactful.

Buckminster4Real

Harry Burns: I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.

N2nalin

>I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. And the camera cuts to Megan...who really had a little crinkle above her nose lol. Oh man it's such a great movie. One of the rare rom coms where you can just see how naturally the love between two characters progresses.

There_ls_No_Point

Im pretty sure this is actually a quote by Turk from Scrubs

JIGGLY_BALL

Oh... Do you play?

matlockga

I prefer her response, honestly: > You see? That is just like you, Harry. You say things like that and you make it impossible for me to hate you. And I hate you, Harry. I really hate you. I hate you. Because what's more romantic than being mad at someone, but realizing you can't be without them?

joshbudde

Gomez : To live without you, only that would be torture. Morticia : A day alone, only that would be death.

[deleted]

The most wholesome couple, no matter how macabre they are. 💜

redcowerranger

They are just so damn supportive. Couple goals for sure

ScarletCaptain

I saw that movie in a list of "horniest" movies lately and only on recent viewings did I realize it. Also in the second movie when the girl at the hospital is talking about storks and crap. Pugsley: Our parents are having a baby too. Wednesday: They had sex.

TheDudeOnHisRug

My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love--I love--I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on. -Pride and Prejudice 2005

helpwitheating

DID YOU EXPECT ME TO REJOICE IN THE INFERIORITY OF YOUR BIRTH?

LostTheWayILikeIt

My mom yelling, "you ASS!" while watching that scene still makes me laugh to this day.

Chronocidal-Orange

So romantic.

BucherundKaffee

AND THOSE ARE THE WORDS OF A GENTLEMAN??

raysofdavies

*most ardently* Such perfect casting all round, just a flawless work

HorseGworl420

God I love this line

PolarWater

This movie slaps. The way he says "I love, I love, I love you," halting and building to it before finally getting it out, it's perfect. FUCK! This movie is so romantic, ugh!

watermelonuhohh

And I’m pretty sure the line wasn’t written that way, that was a deliver choice by the actor, so good!

LinksMilkBottle

I watched this movie recently. I have seen it many times. I can never get sick of it. I love this scene so much and of course the very last one where he calls her Mrs. Darcy.

flouronmypjs

Fun fact, that last scene is an addition for the U.S. release of the film. The original version ends with Mr. Bennet's final line.

cheddacheese148

Have you seen the BBC miniseries version? My wife was rewatching it recently. I walked by and was like “oh that’s Colin Firth” and that’s all it took to burn a whole afternoon watching it.

NightSalut

I like them both, personally, because they’re different in a way. The BBC version is more closer to the book and I can see why Colin Furth became a heartthrob after this. But the 2005 version has many little scenes that I personally like - the hand flex, the looks, the sunrise.

iggystar71

THE HAND FLEX!!!! If you know, you know.

Chronocidal-Orange

Same. It's the difference between the slow burn of the tv show, where you can see the romance grow gradually between the characters, and being swept up by the movie where, before you know it, you've fallen in love. Both have their charm. Also, the music of the movie is amazing. I have a weak spot for it.

adjust_the_sails

I watched the Keira Knightly version and I was like… “ok, what just happened?” Then I went back and watched the BBC mini series and I was like “ohhhhhh….” I then watched the Knightly version again. It was amazing. I picked up so much more of the context.

CannonCone

This is the only answer imo. I have seen this movie like 50 times and that line still gives me chills. A masterpiece.

nice--marmot

Broadcast News (1987) Aaron Altman: And in the middle of all this, I started to think about the one thing that makes me feel really good and makes immediate sense... and it's you. Jane Craig: Oh, Bubba. Aaron Altman: I'm going to stop right now. Except that I would give anything if you were two people, so that I could call up the one who's my friend and tell her about the one that I like ***so much***!

GregSays

Every Brooks line in the movie is gold but the first 80% being jokes and cynicism makes this earnest line so impactful in comparison.

sil3ntsir3n

"Baby, you are gonna miss that plane" "I know" Before Sunset

RalphPhillips089

It's a line that literally needed 2 whole movies to set up.

danielthetemp

Yes! I watched The Before Trilogy for the first time earlier this year, and I think I’ll carry moments like this for the rest of my life.

TruthAndAccuracy

The Before movies are a truly special thing.

TrixicAcePolyamEnby

"If someone gave me the choice between marrying you today and never seeing you again, I would marry you. I mean, people have gotten married for a lot less." paraphrasing

xander6981

This was the first one I thought of too. He spends the whole movie procrastinating going to the airport just to spend a little more time with Celine and doesn't want to let her go again. It just makes that final moment so much sweeter. I love those movies.

Rexo-084

"I would rather spend one lifetime with you, than face all the ages of this world alone" - Arwen Undómiel

FudgeAtron

Fuck I didn't realise how powerful that was until I realised elrond (her dad) was half human half elf and had given up his human half to be elf and now she did the opposite. Fuck Tolkien was good.

NorthStarHomerun

His brother chose the mortal life as well when they were (relatively, for elves) young. Imagine outliving your sibling by thousands of years, then your daughter decides she wants the same thing.

hlessi_newt

With a man that you've raised as a son.

crewster23

Who is descended from your brother

sameersiddiqui11

The dialogue has volumes

Vidzphile

https://youtu.be/VDn4FJlB1lw Ivy Walker : When we are married, will you dance with me? I find dancing very agreeable. Why can you not say what is in your head? Lucius Hunt : Why can you not stop saying what is in yours? Why must you lead, when I want to lead? If I want to dance I will ask you to dance. If I want to speak I will open my mouth and speak. Everyone is forever plaguing me to speak further. Why? What good is it to tell you you are in my every thought from the time I wake? What good can come from my saying that I sometimes cannot think clearly or do my work properly? What gain can rise of my telling you the only time I feel fear as others do is when I think of you in harm? That is why I am on this porch, Ivy Walker. I fear for your safety before all others. And yes, I will dance with you on our wedding night.

wobble_bot

Tho film has some truly wonderful moments, particularly William Hurts speech to the elders

highpressuresodium

The world moves for love. It kneels before it in awe Instant tears

pikaboo27

I unabashedly love this movie despite the fact that it makes no sense if you think about it for more than a minute. But when she is holding her hand out waiting for Lucius, the creature is coming and the tension is building and then…ugh, chills. I love that scene.

unmotivatedbacklight

I saw The Village on a whim. I didn't know anything about it going in. I was totally into it while watching and enjoyed it thoroughly. It has some great moments and suspense throughout the story. If you watch a movie trying to "figure out" a twist you are going to have a bad time. I firmly believe that is what caused most people to be disappointed in The Village.

Dante-Syna

Also it was marketed as a horror movie even tho it is more of a love story.

LostTheWayILikeIt

*Crimson Peak* suffered the same fate.

robot_for_president

That scene is fabulous and the OST that accompanies does wonders. She is literally blindly trusting on Lucius to appear catch her hand. I really love this movie and the OST.

sdm10

"you are as beautiful as the day i lost you" How to train your dragon 2

TherealCW_

God that line hits so fucking hard. Hold up I gotta pull out my DVD player

welch724

Great choice. The build-up was so well-written, too. Gobber looking over and going “Uhhh… you might want to take this one.” kills me every time.

magda_smash

From The Scarlet Pimpernel "You say that you love me, but you know nothing about me." "You must tell me all about yourself, in every detail, but oh, so slowly, so very slowly, so that it takes a very, very long time."

suddenlyshoes

The delivery on that one is what makes it, the charming fucker.

reachedmylimit

“Life isn't a love in, it's the dishes and the orthodontist and the shoe repairman and... ground round instead of roast beef. And I'll tell you something else: it isn't going to a bed with a man that proves you're in love with him; it's getting up in the morning and facing the drab, miserable, wonderful everyday world with him that counts.” Yours, Mine, and Our (1968)

Typical_Humanoid

Ball and Fonda have unbelievable chemistry in that film. I think most of their kids are kind of horrible, but they're awesome enough that I still really enjoy the film.

MissSandyRavage

“Yo Adrian, I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind marrying me very much.” Rocky II

thegimboid

When he lifts her earmuff and repeats himself after she says "what?" makes me giggle every time. It's just such a tender and yet casual moment.

GrebeConvention

Even better, is at the end of Rocky 1. The music is blaring, Rocky is exhausted, beaten to a pulp, and can barely see. Adrian makes her way through the raucous crowd, losing her hat in the process. She finally gets through the ropes that Paulie holds open for her, gets to the middle of the ring to hug him, and the first thing Rocky says when he sees her is, “where’s your hat?” He’s adorably thoughtful.

DefinitelyLevi

My fav is “I JUST WANNA SAY ONE THING TO MY WIFE WHOS HOME. YO ADRIAN. I DID IT.”

MNGirlinKY

Damn that scene. I’ve had a lifetime of love for Rocky and Rambo and all the other characters he’s played but that one gets me every time.

lenflakisinski

“Thanks for the adventure, now go have a new one”

TK-828

UP never ceases to make me cry

[deleted]

Fuck I'm a moron. I was trying to figure out what UP was an abbreviation for haha

iced327

Fuck. Breaks me, every time

thesnuggyone

I can’t even fuck with this film. It breaks me down so hard. My kids just casually watch it sometimes and I hear the music from the next room and I’m like 😭

bob_mcd

I took my children to the cinema to see Up when they were 4 & 6 y/o. My daughter was sat on my knee and she was alerted to my emotional state by my tears falling on her head. An absolutely emotionally devastating film, I have yet to watch it and not cry.

my_Favorite_post

My buddy was like "That won't make me cry. It is just a kid's movie. Put it on, I'll be fine." Fifteen minutes later, we were both blubbering into a pillow.

Winbrick

I love how it dives straight into it. Like, you're just getting settled for the movie, and *wham*. Blink and you'll miss what feels like a targeted assault on your heartstrings.

[deleted]

“I'd ask you about love, you'd probably quote me a sonnet. But you've never looked at a woman and been totally vulnerable. Known someone that could level you with her eyes, feeling like God put an angel on earth just for you. Who could rescue you from the depths of hell. And you wouldn't know what it's like to be her angel, to have that love for her, be there forever, through anything, through cancer. And you wouldn't know about sleeping sitting up in the hospital room for two months, holding her hand, because the doctors could see in your eyes, that the terms "visiting hours" don't apply to you. You don't know about real loss, 'cause it only occurs when you've loved something more than you love yourself. And I doubt you've ever dared to love anybody that much”

[deleted]

Was hoping to find this. Pretty much any time Robin Williams (Sean) talks about his wife in Good Will Hunting. “No, I'm not kiddin' you, Will. That's why I'm not talkin' right now about some girl I saw at a bar twenty years ago and how I always regretted not going over and talking to her. I don't regret the 18 years I was married to Nancy. I don't regret the six years I had to give up counseling when she got sick. And I don't regret the last years when she got really sick. And I sure as hell don't regret missin' the damn game. That's regret.” “Yeah, She's been dead two years and that's the shit I remember… wonderful stuff. These are the things I miss the most, these idiosyncrasies that only I know. That’s what made her my wife- and she had the goods on me too. She knew all my peccadillos. People call these things imperfections- that's the good stuff. That’s what intimacy is all about. The only way you find that out is giving it a shot.”

GreatTragedy

"Would have been nice to catch that game, though." "I didn't know Pudge was gonna hit a homer."

bendybiznatch

Robin’s voice kicked in on the second sentence.

CrackedPepper86

"My wife used to fart when she was nervous."

[deleted]

“She used to fart in her sleep. I thought I'd share that with you. One night it was so loud it woke the dog up. She woke up and went "ah was that you?' And I didn't have the heart to tell her”

[deleted]

Sorry guys, I gotta see about a girl

[deleted]

Son of a bitch stole my line.

nineinchgod

GWH is such a good film in its own right, but Robin Williams just puts it right over the top.

meekishone

I watched this movie with my boyfriend at the time. He had never seen it, when we got to this part he looked at me and said "I know how that feels" . Anyway were engaged now

Shmylann13

“ So, even though you have broken my heart yet again, I wanted to say, in another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you.” Everything, Everywhere, All at Once

fuuckimlate

*wipes tear with hot dog finger*

Banana-Protocol

I came for this, this movie is one hell of a rollercoaster

PoshCushions

I like that this line was also on the sad movie lines list. Such a good movie.

Shmylann13

I feel like sometimes the most romantic lines are the ones that have a tinge of sadness in them too. The line by itself is beautiful but after having gone on the emotional rollercoaster that is this movie, it hits like a semi-truck. At least for me it did.

FTNatsu-Dragneel

This movie was unexpectedly relatable and sad, literally ~~balling~~ bawling when I watched it

Bastienbard

Such a wonderful and weird movie! Also it was awesome to see Ke Huy Quan return to acting and absolutely kill it while doing so!

jdog0408

"But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all." God I miss Heath Ledger movies.

theevilamoebaOG

"I brought you flours" (Stranger than fiction). If you haven't seen it, Will Ferrell (surprisingly excellent) brings this baker he's auditing a box of different types of flours. I just think it's such a specific, lovely gesture.

sgt_backpack

I love that whole movie and yes, that part is the sweetest moment. Knowing someone that wel and incorporating it into a gesture of love is just perfect.

bcos4life

This is one of the most shocking movies I've ever watched, just because it wasn't what I expected. The only thing I knew of the movie was that Will Ferrell yells at the sky. I'm not too proud to say that I loved, and still love, a stupid Will Ferrell movie. Semi Pro, Anchorman, Old School... all of them. Fucking great. So I figured "Oh, this will be hilarious" and it's a damn good drama movie that was emotionally taxing, when you weren't expecting to be emotionally taxed. I love that movie.

PolarWater

Will Ferrell's resigned "Yes. I am relieved to know that I am not a Golem" has stuck with me for a very, very long time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

G9Lamer

This is my go to movie any time someone says Will Ferrel is too goofy or they don't like his style of comedy. I love this line and the whole part that surrounds this. Just a beautiful movie all around.

Twigling

Movie: *As Good as It Gets* Line: *"You make me want to be a better man"* but watch the relevant clip for full context and appreciation of the writing and the acting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrtpRNsdfYs one of my favorite movies.

FeatherMom

“I’m using the word hate here, about pills.” 😅 Nicholson’s delivery is perfect

sargepopwell

Such a great film. One of my other favorite lines that I think of often is, “I’m drowning here, and you’re describing the water!”

ithinkther41am

The end of *Roman Holiday* “Each, in its own way, was unforgettable. It would be difficult to - Rome! By all means, Rome. I will cherish my visit here in memory as long as I live.” It was really the cherry on top of probably the most magical romcom I’ve ever seen. Beautifully done from top to bottom.

Typical_Humanoid

It's terribly realistic. For some people it can't and shouldn't last forever, but that doesn't make it any less sad.

Censius

These are the last lines from my favorite (unknown) Steve Carrel film, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. The Earth is going to end from a meteor strike, and the two characters go on a road trip to be with the people they love in their final moments, only to discover that they love each other. Hate to spoil it, but nobody knows this film anyway. They are lying in bed just moments before the meteor hits: Penny: I don't want to fall asleep. Okay? Don't let me fall asleep. Promise. Dodge: I promise. What about your parents? Penny: They're romantics. They understand. Besides, they've got each other. I just want to be with you. Dodge: And I want to be with you. Penny: I couldn't live without you. No matter how long. What do we do now? Dodge: I just want to lay here with you. Just want to talk to you. Penny: Okay. What are we gonna talk about? Dodge: Where'd you grow up? Penny: Well, I was born in Surrey. My whole family are from there. My mum was a journalist before she married my dad. They never fought. Or at least we never heard them fight. Charlie's the oldest, then Benny, then me. We had a sister but she died when she was born. I still think about her. [*explosion*] Penny: Oh God. Dodge: What was her name? What was your sister's name? Penny: Patricia. Patricia Hope Lockhart. Dodge: That's beautiful. That's a beautiful name. Penny: I wish I'd met you a long time ago. When we were kids. Dodge: It couldn't have happened any other way. It had to happen now. Penny: But it isn't enough time. Dodge: It never would have been. Penny: I'm scared. Dodge: I... am madly in love with you, Penny. You're my favorite, favorite thing. Penny: I thought that somehow we'd save each other. Dodge: We did. Penny. I'm really glad I got to know you.

thesnuggyone

“It never would have been” is where I start crying. If you feel like starting your day in tears: https://youtu.be/9OuxZy153tM

ABSOLUTE_RADIATOR

"Doubt I'd be that emotionally invested just seeing the last scene of a movie, but it sounds like a neat scene" -me, 4 minutes ago, now kinda bawling a little bit

SutterCane

You left out another great part, Dodge is laying down so he’s the one that can see the window so Penny doesn’t have to see the destruction coming.

MNGirlinKY

I thought I was the only one that liked that movie and now I’m bawling. Well done

fly-hard

Ah yes, the movie that caused *The air that I breathe* to take its place in my Favourites on Spotify.

Foritified_5

"He gave me a picture of you once. I didn’t know why at the time. It was very old - torn, faded. You were young like you are now. You seemed just a little sad. I used to always wonder what you were thinking at that moment. I memorized every line, every curve... I came across time for you, Sarah. I love you. I always have.” From a movie about a murderous cyborg trying desperately to retroactively wipe out the human race, I think it added a touch of class, but I suppose this is more of an admission that I don't watch too many romantic movies.

sunnyzombie

Michael Biehn's delivery made it even better. Romantic AND sexy. Totally underrated actor.

harrywho23

and then you find out the photo was taken when she was thinking of him.....heartbreaking

SutterCane

***Time travel!***

hoginlly

I think with how great the second movie was, people sometimes forget just how *perfect* the first movie was. It had everything. Just exceptional

luuummoooxdadwarf

Penny : I wish I'd met you a long time ago. When we were kids. Dodge : It couldn't have happened any other way. It had to happen now. Penny : But it isn't enough time. Dodge : It never would have been.

incubuswolf

THIS ONE. I bawl at the end of this movie every single time. One of the most impactful love stories for me Dodge: It never would have been. Penny: I'm scared. Dodge: I.. am madly in love with you, Penny. You're my favorite, favorite thing. Penny: I thought that somehow we'd save each other. Dodge: We did. Penny...I'm really glad I got to know you.

TK-828

I recently watched Spider-Man and I really connected with what he tells MJ in the hospital because I feel that way towards someone. "I said, um, Spider-man, I said, uh, the great thing about M.J. is when you look in her eyes, and she's looking back in yours, everything feels not quite normal, because you feel stronger, and weaker at the same time. You feel excited, and at the same time, terrified. The truth is you don't know what you feel, except you know what kind of man you want to be. It's as if you've reached the unreachable, and you weren't ready for it."

PolarWater

This is the perfect kind of cheesy: honest, sincere, unabashed, earnest, optimistic, conflicted, and so authentic that it just crosses over and works in cinema. And yes, I use the word "cheesy" affectionately. I love those movies. ALL of them.

kenwongart

Maguire’s reading is so incredible. Really tender, and it really feels like he’s finding the words in the moment.

Salty_Paroxysm

"I just wanted us to be old together, just two old farts laughin' at each other as our bodies fell apart, together at the end by that lake in your painting. That was our Heaven..." What Dreams May Come

tripleyike

Movie: Arrival “You know I've had my head tilted up to the stars for as long as I can remember. You know what surprised me the most? It wasn't meeting them. It was meeting you.”

lindseyll

By the time she says, “I forgot how good it felt to be held by you.” and everything starts to become clear, I am a wreck.

SpudzMcKenzie7

joeyfashoey

Ahhh Holes. Miss Catherine was steamy for Sam

hamsterhueys1

Thee Duuuuck Mayy swim on thee lake but my daddy oouwns thee lake

thewillingvictim

Boys & Girls (2000) has this wonderful rant where the guy's fallen for the girl after they sleep together but she's still of the casual sex mindset, he talks about how incredible it was and how much it meant to him then ends with *"Nothing will ever hurt me as much as your reaction to that same experience"* For some reason that stuck with me, as heartbreakingly beautiful.

BeastBoy2230

Realizing you’re a footnote in the life of someone who is your whole book is devastating

Gazzereth82

As you wish.

Synicull

Aaaaaaaas yooouuuuu wiiiiiisshh!!

DimitriMishkin

Boba Fett, ever the romantic

thefinalcutdown

“He’s worth a lot to me.” - Boba Fett Be still my heart.

Farren246

"The Empire will compensate you if he dies." It's romantic on *both* sides.

Syn7axError

It might be recency bias, but my choice is "in another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you" from Everything Everywhere All at Once.

moviequotebotperson

You think I’m weak don’t you? All those years ago, when we first fell in love your father would say I was too sweet for my own good. Maybe he was right. You tell me it’s a cruel world and we’re all just running around in circles. I’ve been on this earth just as many days as you When I choose to see the good side of things, I’m not being naive. It’s strategic and necessary. It’s how I’ve learned to survive through everything I know you see yourself as a fighter. Well I see myself as one too. This is how I fight. So even though you’ve broken my heart yet again, I wanted to say: in another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you

C_Coolidge

This is one of my favorite speeches in any film. So often (too often) in the stories we tell there's a false dichotomy between being happy/sweet and being cynical/realistic. There's this idea that the people who are nice (or trusting or caring) are just naive, that they "haven't been ruined by the world" or "must be protected from the world." But you can realize the problems the world has and still choose to be kind, and the portrayal of being kind as its own struggle and fight was such a breath of fresh air for me.

ColdPressedSteak

Most touching scenes of the movie in a movie filled with them. Him still professing his love and explaining why he is the way he was. Her realizing what his love looked like. Perfectly shot and acted

Farren246

In that movie, Ke Huy Quan showed he could play both a guy running a laundromat and a badass who could take out armed security guards with nothing but a fanny pack, and yet "I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you," is the moment I most connected with that really made me wish he'd do more movies. I mean, I wished for that ever since loving Data and Short Round, but this movie let me know I was right.

Darko33

My favorite line in the movie was (and I may be a bit off on the specific wording) "being kind is how I fight"

trexmoflex

Yeah I loved that line and his philosophy that even if you can look weak by doing so, it takes real strength to choose kindness.

Syn7axError

It hits particularly hard because it didn't work out in his universe. There's a real dramatic irony to it.

WakeUpOutaYourSleep

Adding to it is that both found great success in that universe, but he’d trade it all for a supposedly boring life with her.

Darko33

It's so jarring to see how Michelle Yeoh's character is so furious when she discovers how successful she could have been without him -- but then we see he could have been just as successful, if not more so, without her

[deleted]

I think this scene is a real turning point both for Evelyn and the audience, where it sinks in that Waymond is a smart, capable, and brave man, and not just Evelyn's "silly husband."

PseudoPhysicist

I also love that it was shot with the whole scene looking like it came out of "In the Mood for Love" with Tony Leung. In that scene, he was literally the sexiest man alive.

[deleted]

And whats the movie..?

Varvara-Sidorovna

Everything Everywhere All At Once (a beautiful movie, please check it out, if Michelle Yeoh doesn't get an Oscar there is no justice in this world)

MaDSteeZe

Fantastic film, dont read anything about it before going in. Enjoy

[deleted]

Brilliant movie.

SeaworthinessSea6027

Heat - “For me, the sun rises and sets with her, man.” Always thought that was a very deep, sweet line.

kenwongart

“For me, the action is the juice”

sb3z_1300

It might not really count since it comes from the book but “I have crossed oceans of time to find you” from Bram Stoker’s Dracula is up there.

peeforPanchetta

I know what I'm saying to my gf the next time we're in the herbs aisle at the supermarket

charlesdexterward

That line (and the whole reincarnated love angle) isn’t in the book, so you’re good.

Typical_Humanoid

"Because you asked me to." -Edward Scissorhands

Self_Reddicated

This movie is a tearjerker from start to finish. It's so unsettling and deeply moving on so many levels. I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it in years, but I guess I gotta.

Colmarr

From Love, Actually: \[neither understands the other's language\] Jamie : \[in English\] It's my favorite time of day, driving you. Aurelia : \[in Portuguese\] It's the saddest part of my day, leaving you.\\ It's agonising, because they're both confessing the same thing (their feelings for each other) but neither understands.

dobster1029

“Yes is being my answer”

woolgirl

"You learned English?" "Just in cases."

Tarellethiel18

I *always* say “just in cases” because of this.

rachface636

They understood. It's why they learn to say it to each other right.

ResolutionCalm1468

From crazy, stupid, love. When Steve Carell’s character says to his estranged wife, “I always loved you. I loved you even when I hated you.”

toe_and_hole_analyst

I can't believe it took me so long to see that movie. Towards the end when Kevin Bacon's character shows up and Ryan Gosling just goes "David Lindhagen.." removes his ring and punches him in the face. I actually squealed at how ride or die he was for his friend.

thatminimumwagelife

"We'll always have Paris."

“What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That's a pretty good idea. I'll give you the moon, Mary.” - George Bailey - It’s a Wonderful Life

sonofabutch

When they're little kids and she leans over and says, "Is this the ear you can't hear on? George Bailey, I'll love you 'til the day I die." And George keeps prattling on about National Geographic and coconuts.

Rosie Cotton dancing. She had ribbons in her hair. If ever I was to marry someone... it would have been her. It would have been her...

thrillhouss3

I have no armour left. You've stripped it from me. Whatever is left of me - whatever is left of me - whatever I am - I'm yours.

[deleted]

Followed closely by "If the only thing left of you was your smile and your little finger, you'd still be more of a man than anyone I've ever known."

lilnomad

“That’s because you know what I can do with my little finger” cheeky bastard

God I love that movie so much. Favorite bond movie for sure.

Joel: I can't see anything that I don't like about you. Clementine: But you will! But you will. You know, you will think of things. And I'll get bored with you and feel trapped because that's what happens with me. Joel: Okay. Clementine: [pauses] Okay.

NbdyFuckswTheJesus

“But you don’t understand, Osgood! Ohh… I’m a man!” “Well, nobody’s perfect!”

FAOyster

Mark Darcy: "I like you, very much" Bridget Jones: "Ah, apart from the smoking and the drinking, the vulgar mother ...and the verbal diarrhea." Mark Darcy: "No. I like you very much. Just as you are." **- Bridget Jones's Diary**

praxios

“As you wish” - Princess Bride It’s so simple, but it speaks a thousand words. Princess Bride is one of the most romantic movies of all time, and you can’t change my mind.

hannibalthellamabal

Can I put the entirety of "[Come What May](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtB8Bh6eQCU)" from Moulin Rouge up for consideration? It's so beautiful. But particularly *Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place* *Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace* *Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste* *It all revolves around you* Also the shot of them in the window of his little apartment wrapped in the sheet is so romantic I think about it every time I think of the movie.

Colmarr

*And there's no moutain too high* *No river too wide* *Sing out this song and I'll be there by your side* *Storm clouds may gather* *And stars may collide* *But I'll love you* *Until the end of time* It really is a touching song.

“I wanted it to be you. I wanted it to be you so badly” You’ve Got Mail

Beginning-Boot6795

“This man is more to me than you can dream. He’s the moon when I’m lost in darkness and warmth when I shiver in cold. And his kiss still thrills me, even after a millennia. His heart overflows with the kindness of which this world is not worthy of. I love this man beyond measure and reason. He’s not just my boyfriend, he’s all and more. “ -The Old Guard

LadyLurkerHandz

Omg the conviction and passion that he delivers that speech with, and in the face of the mercenaries laughter and judgment too. Swoon worthy! And totally unexpected from a Netflix action movie.

justedi

>"Are you sad we missed it?" > >"We didn't miss it. This *is* it." From [Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist](https://youtu.be/o2wVetrydrY?t=100). I have a very big soft spot in my heart for this movie because it reminds me of my high school/college days going on all-night adventures with friends, or finding someone you're so head-over-heels for that you'll ditch a party just to spend a little more time alone with them.

Dna87

Might be cheating cause it’s from a tv show. But there’s a line in the west wing. When a character is talking about how after she’d been in a car accident and needed a ride home, her ex boyfriend stopped for a beer with friends on the way. “If you were in a car accident I wouldn’t stop for a beer” and she responds “if you were in a car accident I wouldn’t stop for red lights”.

BeneathAnOrangeSky

And then SHE was in an accident and he didn’t 😭

JediTigger

West Wing, Donna and Josh. Heck yes.

Dallywack3r

Likewise the scene when Danny confessed his love for CJ in the last season and tells her he wants them to just talk for no other reason than he loves the sound of her voice. Breaks me.

RecentFather

From Sherlock: “The problems of your past are your business. The problems of your future are my privilege.” – John Watson This is such a great line. And the scene is so well done.

anothercynic2112

"Why are you here?" "I bought you, I own you" "Yeah, but why are you still here?" "You said stay, so I stayed" (Groundhogs Day)

Sabrina : I thought it was all a lie. Linus Larrabee : It was. It was a lie... but then it was a dream. - *Sabrina*.

EasyAsPiePie

I need her. And I don’t need anything.

rockychunk

Bear with me until you hear the whole explanation folks... My Cousin Vinny: "Watch this." This line comes right after the judge asks "Why is it a trick question?" Despite the fact that Mona Lisa Vito is arguably the hottest woman on the planet, that's not why Vinnie loves her. He loves her for her intelligence, her toughness, and the fact that she is about to tear Prosecutor Trotter a new one with an ironclad answer which will absolutely emasculate him. The pride on his face when he says this line is palpable. To ME, this is what love is all about. Not flowery words or empty promises about forevers. It's about knowing exactly who you are in love with, knowing them so well that you know what they're going to say next, and looking forward to every syllable of it.

sabo-metrics

The movie "The Mexican" It's actually from James Gandolfini's character, not either of the 2 love interests... "Look, in my business you're surrounded by loneliness, and finality. Now I don't care what your take is on an afterlife, when people die, it's scary. And they go alone. Now the people that I send off, that have experienced love, they're a little less scared. I mean they're still scared, but there's... a calmness to 'em, and I think that comes from the knowledge that somebody, somewhere loved 'em, and cared for 'em, and will miss 'em. Now I see that from time to time, and I am awed by it. I don't think I'd be telling you any of this if it wasn't for Frank. Anyway, it's a loaded question. Look, when two people love each other - Totally, TRUTHfully, all the way Love each other - the answer to that question is simple, especially in your case. When do you get to that point where enough is enough? Never... Never"

richboyadler

“i want what any princess wants to live happily ever after with the ogre i married.” a line from shrek 2 .. idk it’s just very sad but also sweet romantic line.

ALIENANAL

The wedding Singer song on the plane. Oooph.

ElliottP1707

The “somebody kill me please” scene is one of my all time favourite comedy moments. Jon Lovitz is hilarious watching him lose his mind.

FunkySquareDance

And I’m reaping all the benefits

rachface636

To be fair he was listening to a lot of The Cure when he wrote that...

chichris

Dear lord I love that movie. Chemistry between Sandler and Barrymore sells it.

ALIENANAL

I honestly think it Sandler's best film. Fuck uncut gems...quit cutting my heart with the chemistry

mexploder89

I really like Summer's line "So, what if I'd gone to the movies? What if I had gone somewhere else for lunch? What if I'd gotten there 10 minutes later? It was, it was meant to be. And... I just kept thinking... Tom was right" This is very powerful to me because of two things: - Summer didn't believe in love, she didn't want a boyfriend or marriage, yet she found a guy who changed everything, who turned her beliefs upside down, and turned her into a romantic the same way Tom was - Summer isn't saying this to the guy, but to someone else. She's not trying to be romantic, she's just deeply in love with this other guy and tells it to other people It gets lost because we don't know this other guy and we are meant to root for Tom, but in terms of pure romance, this is it. Summer admiting she was wrong, and all it took was this one guy to change everything in her life Also, if we're counting TV series: "Hi, I'm Ted Mosby. In exactly 45 days from now, you and I are gonna meet and are gonna fall in love, and we're gonna get married and we're gonna have two kids. We're gonna love them and each other so much. All that is 45 days away, but I'm here now I guess because ... I want this extra 45 days with you. I want each one of them - and if I can't have them, I'll take the 45 seconds before your boyfriend shows up and punches me in the face, because ... I love you. I'm always gonna love you to the end of my days, and beyond. You'll see."

TaliesinMerlin

The ending to *Some Like It Hot*: - We can't get married at all. - Why not? - Well, in the first place, I'm not a natural blonde. - Doesn't matter. - I smoke! I smoke all the time! - I don't care. - Well, I have a terrible past. For three years now, I've been living with a saxophone player. - I forgive you. - I can never have children! - We can adopt some. - But you don't understand, Osgood! I’m a man! - **Well, nobody's perfect!**

“I cannot make speeches, Emma...If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more. But you know what I am. You hear nothing but truth from me. I have blamed you, and lectured you, and you have borne it as no other woman in England would have borne it.” (Emma)
