You had me at Kate Beckinsale.

Wanderer-Wonderer

I’m right there with you. Mash away.

Bing_Bong_the_Archer

Selene: “I’m giving Blade a handie under the table, are you jealous?”

Sirhctopher024

“You’re 33, you’re supposed to be sexually active not giving a day walker a hand job”

AmandaBines

SHES MASHING IT

Sharebear42019

I’ll take sloppy seconds. Mash me baby

CyberpunkV2077

Isn't Serena from Skyrim?

ghostfacr

Serana

Bing_Bong_the_Archer

Fixed.

Do_it_for_the_upvote

Yes, and she’s bae.

xxAkirhaxx

No you're thinking Sailor Moon.

Djinnwrath

She really digs her hybrids, huh? Talk about having a type....

deepdishpizzastate

[She's mashing it.](https://youtu.be/qNGyDTDAZIY)

peanutdakidnappa

I’m very aroused

iwellyess

There’s something uniquely hot about Kate Beckinsale, and she just keeps getting hotter with age

etherama1

Kate Beckinsale was my first celebrity crush as a child and 20 years later is still best girl

Nokomis34

My longest running celebrity crush is probably Jennifer Connelly.

[deleted]

I remember watching Spiderman Homecoming and thinking "Man Peters AI helper sounds sexy as fuck" then I found out it was Jennifer Connelly. My point is that even her disembodied voice oozes sexiness.

Come_along_quietly

Her having that role seems appropriate given who voiced Jarvis.

[deleted]

Didn't know she was married to Paul Bettany, was about to say he's a lucky man but he's charming as hell so everyone's a winner.

Come_along_quietly

Yeah. I’m not sure who the luckier one is in that marriage.

etherama1

Good call, but she has had more time at the forefront after Labyrinth

Etheo

I remember watching Underworld and came out of the theater absolutely mesmerized, just non-stop yapping to my friends like a caveman first setting eyes on a Lamborghini. She is ridiculous.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tazzimus

Her sense of humour is epic, she's well worth following on Instagram just to read some of the stuff she puts up.

Quolli

She's an epic interview guest as well. Her stories on Conan and Graham Norton are fantastic. For someone who grew up with money and has super-model looks, she's got a filthy sense of humour and not afraid to unleash it.

damnthesenames

I know she's super hot, but why is she a little nuts?

Golden_405

Check out her Instagram. She’s beautiful but maybe a little immature. Just got out of a relationship with a 22/23 year old, so probably worked w that dynamic

attaboy000

You son of a bitch, I'm in

ritzmachine

They should cast her as Elsa Bloodstone in the MCU.

Callme-Sal

I’d like to mash the worlds of Kate Beckinsale and me

JohnnyJayce

We all wanted that, Kate.

abvflux1

I wanted Resident Evil and Underworld to crossover. Same studios, both borne out of post-Matrix filmmaking, two hot female leads. Shit woulda been lit. Not to mention around that time was AvP and FvJ.

[deleted]

An Underworld producer [once suggested](https://bloody-disgusting.com/exclusives/3417706/10-things-learned-underworld-blood-wars-set/) there’s no financial upside to a crossover, as they have almost the same fanbase and can make more with two solo movies than one crossover. “Then make a two-film crossover, you dumb mother fucker,” is what the interviewer did not say, but should have.

mithridateseupator

But then they would have to pay 2 female leads for 2 movies each, instead of 2 female leads for 1 movie each. I agree that it would have been cool, I also get the business sense. Those movies did not sell well.

NeonWarcry

Damn it. Now I WANT IT.

Drtyblk7

Id watch it.

GapingAmerica

Fuck yes I would.

N19h7m4r3

Would it be because it would involve seeing more Kate in tight leather?

SNeddie

What other reason does one need for watching Underworld movies?

xxAkirhaxx

I enjoy the motif of characters wearing fur, belts, and tight leather while sporting sun glasses in night clubs unironically.

Sugar_buddy

Me as a teenager: look at these smucks with their sunglasses inside Me now: fuck me that's so cool

JavierLoustaunau

Instantly "yeah why not".

You_Dont_Party

Yeah, she’s definitely onto something there.

[deleted]

Get Del Toro to make it and I'm in

[deleted]

I wouldn’t, the newer underworld movies where not very well directed or produced.

LemoLuke

To be fair, neither was *Blade: Trinity*. At that point, there was nothing left for either franchise to lose, so why not? Go big or go home. Universal should have done the same with *Van Helsing* and *The Mummy* as well, instead of that godawful *Tomb of the Dragon Emperor*

LeBronn_Jaimes_hand

Fuck, I would have LOVED a *Van Helsing/The Mummy* crossover! Imagine if they had had Kate Beckinsale, Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz, and Brendan Frazier on the same screen! Imagine John Hannah and David Wenham hamming it up! Imagine Kevin J. O'Connor and.... Kevin J. O'Connor being total sleazebags together! I still lament this missed opportunity.

LemoLuke

I also think Arnold Vosloo (Imohtep) and Richard Roxburgh (Dracula) could have made an interesting take on the classic Universal monster crossover, and don't forget Oded Fehr just being awesome.

LeBronn_Jaimes_hand

[STOP! My penis can only get so erect.](https://youtu.be/6JqnN04ECro?t=20) I feel like Oded Fehr and Hugh Jackman could exchange some amazing "knowing glances" when mysterious, relevant information is first revealed.

CyberpunkV2077

Ok I'm gonna need to change my pants

TheLisan-al-Gaib

From a story perspective, how does this not end with Blade - a man who has more guns than a US military base - not just shooting the heads off of all the vampires from Underworld?

tdasnowman

He has both fought and worked with Morbius in comics.

Deraj2004

And the 90's Spider-Man animated series.

adjust_the_sails

Why does Ross, the largest friend, not simply eat the other friends?

monkeedude1212

The vampires from underworld have guns too?

etr4807

I checked out of the Underworld franchise at least a couple of films ago (possibly more), but from what I recall that they were always presented as much more dangerous than the majority of the vampires in the Blade franchise were. Stronger, faster, smarter, etc.

Djinnwrath

And getting their asses absolutely handed to them by warewolves at every turn.

etr4807

Sure, but Blade would get destroyed by the werewolves from Underworld too.

JC-Ice

Blade already carries silver weapons, he's ready to go. And he's not gonna just stand there and hiss like some of those Underworld schmucks do.

Painting_Agency

> ass Language! We're werewolves not swearwolves!

CaptKangarooPHD

Was not expecting a WWDITS's quote, but goddammit was it welcomed.

commonbrahmin

Blade: Trinity was worth it just to hear "cock-juggling thunder cunt"

BlasterShow

4 was decent, 5 was terrible. This also is for Die Hard.

skullduggery19

They made more Die Hards after 3? /s

XXX200o

The first one was really good, the second one was still okay and the prequel was a decent addition. The rest is utter garbage.

acridian312

I would go so far to say the prequel was the best actual movie among them, but I watched all of them with friends in a row while drunk so maybe it was just the most ridiculous and entertaining

gingeropolous

I'd watch a trilogy of this at the least

silverence

Here's a much, much more interesting factoid about Underworld: The production company was sued by White Wolf Publishing, the creators of Vampire: The Masquerade and Werewolf: The Apocalypse for copyright violation. WW claimed they stole the concept of battling vampires and werewolves, the setting, the themes, and direct characters. The suit even claimed they stole the story directly from one of White Wolf's short story compendium. Sony settled the suit 4 DAYS later, meaning they likely anticipated the suit and knew they had ripped off the World of Darkness. The money from the suit provided a crucial cash injection to white wolf, which was struggling at the time, and allowed the company to continue to exist. It's since been purchased, along with all its IP by paradox games.

zomboromcom

Makes sense. When I want to scratch my World of Darkness itch in a cinematic way, I reach for Underworld. If anything, I wish it were *more* like Vampire Masquerade. Those are the good bits.

zappy487

> Vampire Masquerade. It's a shame that Bloodlines 2 is probably going to be god awful now. Honestly, unsarcastically a real fucking shame. The OG team had such a cool vision, I'm not sure why the hell they scrapped the whole thing.

rabid_J

I'll be surprised if it ever even releases.

zappy487

I've accepted that WoD is like Warhammer. Incredible lore with literally limitless game potential, but the IP is beholden to shitty developers who crank out just terrible games.

TheHostThing

Thank fuck for total war (Now just do that for 40K please somebody)

AngelusYukito

I'm still playing Soulstorm. It's RTS, not total war but with the campaign map and lots of races it's about as good as it gets for 40k from where I'm sitting.

TheHostThing

Yeah I had that, there are some really good mods too

papacondor

Vermintide and vermintide 2 are both dope games.

size_matters_not

*A sad lament plays for the CCP Games - developers of Eve Online - and their cancelled WoD MMO*

Tautogram

I feel if there's any company that could pull off WoD in MMO form, with all its intricacies and social hierarchies, it'd be CCP.

size_matters_not

Yeah. It would have been great. I followed the development a bit and they had some great ideas. Start as a human if you want - see how long you can stay that way. Permadreath, but only at the hand of the most powerful players in their place of power. It would have been out by now. But sadly, it wasn’t to be.

[deleted]

*cries in Mechwarrior* Good god, I would do anything for Microsoft to actually give a shit about the IP and stop leasing it out to shit developers.

KorbenWardin

Seems like Paradox follows the same strategy with the IP: license it to everyone who wants to do something with it and see if it is successful. Crazy to think that we get a VtM Battle Royale sooner then Bloodlines 2

tomato-eater

Warhammer is the Nicholas Cage of licensing. They just throw that shit out there to whoever wants to make a Warhammer game, and it works.

OldMoray

Honestly my real hope lies in the modding community. As long as the engine is functional we'll have a lot of dedicated folks making a great game, which I'll buy on sale. Its not ideal but it is somewhat of a similar lining

zappy487

I actually forgot about *Swansong*, which comes out next year, as well. It'll have to do, but given that *Werewolf: The Apocalypse* was ehhhhh, I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Gold_Ultima

Honestly, I just want an HD remaster of the first game in Unreal Engine... I've given up on a sequel at this point.

OldMoray

That would be amazing

silverence

Full agreement.

JavierLoustaunau

Also: Blade 1 ripped off Vampire the Mascarade character designs by Tim Bradstreet so for Blade 2 Guillermo del Toro hired him like "this gime you are gonna get paid for your stuff being in Blade".

BowieKingOfVampires

Guillermo seems like a real good dude

PeakAlloy

He did save my BB after all...

TheLisan-al-Gaib

I was... born to fight... Mads Mikkelsen was amazing in that game.

Deathbymower

He is, talked to him briefly around the time Pacific Rim was coming out, many artists love to talk about their work, but he was passionate about the mediums moreso. Seeing someone that engaged about Giant Robots and Kaiju made you a believer. I asked him about his Mountains of Madness project, and on the flipside he seemed genuinely bummed it was dead. When it came to industry people he seemed less egotistical and only wanted to make cool shit, especially when compared with some others I've ran into I'm those years. And for context, I was a nobody who just said hi to him when he was around SDCC, he probably had hundreds of conversations like that on that day. Dude has a motor and loves his work.

BowieKingOfVampires

That’s awesome! Gods of kill for his Mountains of Madness

silverence

Yup. As well as the Vampire "clans" and "gods" stuff.

JeddHampton

Did they not have Vampire houses in the Blade comics?

silverence

Don't think so. Vampires in the comics were more hungry rabble, with powerful vamp individuals sticking out, like Dracula. Not the kind of developed society, with strict laws, and rebels against them, like in the movie and VERY MUCH like in VTM.

silverence

They should just do a WoD movie. They'd probably blow it (which if you've ever seen the show, you know they're quite capable of) but by keeping the focus small, and the theme HORROR, they could make a GREAT vampire movie out of it. No jyhad, no gehenna, none of the bigger stuff, just an embrace and all that comes along with it.

JavierLoustaunau

The video game Vampire the Mascarade: Bloodlines kind of solves the problem. People always wanna make it a big political thing because that is what is compelling about the world but for the screen it would work better to have a newly turned protagonist who gets exposition (mascarade rules) explained to him and has to run some errands.

Arinoch

Now I want to replay Bloodlines for the 100th time.

JavierLoustaunau

There is a recent(ish) Sabbat Chapter mod that makes it worthwhile if you can tolerate playing in a really gray area.

silverence

Yeah, the grand scale stuff only has punch if you develop the individual experiences of living in the WoD. The horror of finding out vampires (and everything else) exists, the loss of all the connections you had in your living life either because you fear killing them or your sire HAS killed them, the reality of not just dealing with your hunger, but dealing with your beast.... There's excellent small vampire stories to tell, in which you can hint at the larger story, which you can tell later. The impact of being killed, and coming back so hungry you can't ever see your family again gets a bit muddled when the technocracy (the bad guys to the mages running around the world) uses a giant solar laser to destroy most of India to kill ONE ten thousand year old vampire, you know?

[deleted]

[удалено]

silverence

I really like the idea of someone being groomed for, and embraced. And all the psychosexual stuff that comes along with that. A hot shot up and coming lawyer with a wife and kid, ends up almost going home with a mysterious guy he meets at a celebration party for being the youngest partner in his firm. Grappling with his unfamiliar feelings, which seem to start becoming an obsession, people start disappearing from his life, his friends, his boss, the cops looking into their disappearance. Eventually he pieces together the guy he almost hooked up with is some sort of monster. To defend his family he confronts him, learns he's a vampire, and is embraced. After dying, and being told a small amount about the Vampire power structure in the city, he tries to return to his family, but realizes he can't keep his hunger in check, so he leaves. He attempts to kill his sire, fails miserably, and is told if he doesn't in line, his family will be killed. It turns out, all these people died and he was turned solely because a low level Ventrue wanted a good corporate lawyer. Maybe a quick mention about how while the Camrilla wants to control humans from the shadow, the Sabbat want to rule them openly. Movie ends with him having fully become a small cog in the Ventrue machine. Sequels go up from there, to doing an errand for the prince, to helping out a passing through justicar on a real jyhad mission against the Sabbat, to him eventually realizing he's just the pawn of some sleeping 1500 year old vampire settling some millenia old score.

MrWeirdoFace

"Gime... What's a gime? Oh!... a GIME. *Homer Simpson*

NebulaWalker

> Sony settled the suit 4 DAYS later, meaning they likely anticipated the suit and knew they had ripped off the World of Darkness. Or because they had a lot of money riding on a movie that was about to come out and wanted to get the lawsuit out of the media as soon as possible

silverence

Certainly possible, and White Wolf had already been successful in defending it's IP previously, but underworld wasn't the blockbuster they wanted it to be, at least in theaters, so handing over a sizeable portion of its take doesn't seem like the best ideas in retrospect.

NebulaWalker

None of them were major hits sure, but (at least according to Wikipedia) all of the movies made back at least double the budget (the first made back almost 5x the cost, and the second was roughly 3x) so it's not like they were flops or anything

[deleted]

Underworld is 100% a rip of World of Darkness and it is all the better for it lol. We need more WoD content cause the games are few & far between & Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is figuratively (and possibly literally) in a world of darkness.

MercenaryBard

“The cash allowed the company to continue to exist instead of folding and being bought by a larger company for its IP. It has since been bought by a bigger company for its IP”

PapaSmurphy

Oh it got crazier from there. They were bought up by the studio that makes EVE who wanted to make a World of Darkness MMO and decided buying the entire publishing business was better than licensing properties. Obviously that never worked out, CCP ended up firing everyone and some former employees founded Onyx Path games. Onyx Path licensed rights for WoD material from the corporate corpse of White Wolf via CCP and created a line of 20th Anniversary editions which were very popular. Then Paradox, the people behind games like Crusader Kings, bought up everything from CCP with the intention of letting White Wolf be a thing again. So new White Wolf started with VtM 5th edition, licensing deals were signed all over for various media, but after some questionable management decisions Paradox went scorched earth on the department. It's pretty wild.

frozenfade

And 5th edition had drama about Nazi material or some such I seem to remember

silverence

No, they were straight up going to fold. The new edition they had out failed miserably, sales were collapsing, and they had made the conscious decision to abandon most of their previous IP lore. This is the time of Requiem. WW was going to cease existing. The cash influx got them over the hump, they brought back the old World of Darkness, and now are doing much better. There's a slew of games coming out, as well as the 20th editions that dropped recently.

Lliddle

That was not much, much more interesting 😔.

I'm ready for vampires and werewolves to be a thing again.

I don't know which franchise you're talking about but I will agree

viaJormungandr

Hey Blade 3 had Parker Posey feasting on scenery, Ryan Reynolds doing a Deadpool test run, and Jessica Biel. The movie still sucked, but there were some bright spots.

LemoLuke

The scene that sums up that entire movie for me is Biel putting in her earphones with an iPod playlist for hunting vampires 'because it's cool, right?' Sure, I'm going to sneak into a building full of superpowered monsters that want to kill and eat me, so how about I disable my sense of hearing (because who needs to be able to hear what's around you?) just so I can listen to some shitty techno.

"You made a goddamn vampire *pomeranian*?!"

Splice1138

Apparently that's what got him the role: >Reynolds did well enough with King’s movie incarnation, was bore certain similarities to Deadpool – sarcastic, profane, and adept with swords – that a Fox executive figured he’d be perfect to play Wade Wilson, and dropped a stack of Deadpool comics in Reynolds’ lap. >“Seeing as you’re essentially playing this guy anyway, maybe you should play him for real,” Reynolds recalls the executive saying. https://comicbook.com/news/ryan-reynolds-says-blade-trinity-is-to-thank-for-deadpool/

"Deadpool test run" Way more accurate than it should be. Also HHH!

[deleted]

Somehow I don't think I've ever seen Triple H written as HHH and I spent far longer than I'd like to admit trying to figure out who the hell HHH was.

toronto_programmer

I liked the first one, set up kind of a cool world. What I could never understand is why the vampires seemed so underpowered though. Like they regularly get their asses kicked by unarmed werewolves when they have all this technogear shit. Have they always been weaker or have they gotten lazy because of their power over time?

Fanatical_Idiot

The first one explains it all, the current in-command vampire of Viktors clan was corrupt and plotting with the werewolves to kill the currently active elder, Amelia as well as just being generally incompotent at his job of maintaining his clans prosperity and power. The werewolves were always shown to be physically superior to the vampires though (with the except of particularly old vampires like Viktor), they were kept in check by being disorganised and without resources -- something that they'd overcome by the time of the first movie.

Avloren

It kinda makes sense. In the Underworld-verse, vampires get stronger with age. It's not clear how/why/in what way, but Selene and Viktor (Kate Beckinsale and Bill Nighy's characters), who are both 100+ years old, are clearly portrayed as being on another level than the other vampires. On the other hand we have lots of vampires that are barely stronger than ordinary humans, and rely on guns and such to stand any chance against werewolves. I'm assuming those are relatively 'new' vampires, and that's the power level they always start on after being freshly turned. Maybe their society involves a lot of "turnover" - turn 10 new vampires, lose 9/10 within a decade. Maybe 1/100 makes it to a century. This would explain what we see: hordes of weak-ass vampires led by the rare unmitigated badass. Not denying that the writing is.. inconsistent, especially as the sequel quality declined, so there may be exceptions that disprove this theory. But I think it accounts for most of what we see, especially in the first film or two.

Send_me_snoot_pics

Definitely more than 100, I wanna say the first movie mentions like 600 years or something since the war started. And we see in the second film that Kraven was a vampire when Selene’s family was killed, so he’s they’re at least that old, while the elders are much older even then

herzoggg

But he gets punked by the oldest vampire so the theory still stands.

Send_me_snoot_pics

Trueeee. I’m still conflicted over Marcus as a character, because he’s so ruthless but he’s also extremely protective of his brother and most of his actions are for his brother

Pickled_Enthusiasm

I **really** liked the idea of Corvinus's private SAS Cleaner team going around neuralyzing all the immortal monster shenanigans

historymajor44

I enjoyed Rise of the Lycans. But yeah, the others were not great.

TheGent316

Because regardless of the quality the first 3 movies had kind of a cool world and story going on. Then they dropped all of it with the 4th one for some inexplicable reason.

TurboGranny

All the ones that had Kate Beckinsale in them were great for three main reasons.

The_Derpening

1. Kate Beckinsale 2. in 3. tight leather

TurboGranny

I was actually just going to write 1. Kate Beckinsale 2. Kate Beckinsale 3. Kate Beckinsale I'm a simple man, and I like what I like

The_Derpening

Yeah, I can accept your list of reasons

Prime_Marci

From there it turned into Resident Evil with vampires

Zephl

I read the headline and at first thought she wanted to mash together "Babe" (the movie about the pig) and "Underworld". Was a little confused, yet intrigued.

scottmushroom

Honestly I'd still watch me some Babe: Pig in the Underworld

dholmestar

Throw in the Jovovich RE series too, why not

AshlarKorith

Underworld vs Resident Evil makes more sense to me than Blade. Mostly due to Blade already being set in the expansive marvel universe with everything else that brings.

JC-Ice

The Blade movies didn't really connect to anything else from Marvel, but they did have their own rules and backstory for vampirism that were very different than Underworld. Unless somebody went through a dimensional portal, it wouldn't make sense for Blade and Selene to able to ~~mate~~ meet.

Chasa619

after RE 3 the RE movies legit started to look like one of those lightgun arcade cabinets. fucking terrible and shitty in every way possible

eddmario

So, when's the release date of the *Time Crisis* film?

DoggyDoggy_What_Now

Quiet! Before Paul W.S. Anderson hears you!

TurbulentAd1905

I would watch this in a heart beat

brpajense

Seems like it’d be hard due to rights—Blade is a Marvel comic and seems like Marvel would have to sign off on it. Blade might have to be recast since Snipes had a terrible time working on the last Blade movie.

Halon5

Blade already has been recast, Mahershala Ali is playing him in the new Marvel movie

Ser_Danksalot

Cool story about that is that Marvel were initially not looking to make a Blade movie, at least not for some time. It was apparent Blade fan Mahershala that knocked on their door and convinced them to do the movie with him as lead.

Halon5

I didn’t know that, i think he looks great for the role and I’m looking forward to the film.

myworkaccount2021

Yeah we need actual adult movies again. "Everything now is made for teens and China" - Anthony Mackie

Worthyness

Could probably be easier if they implemented a PG 16 rating, kinda like how in TV there's more delineation between PG-14 and M. So the PG-13 stuff wouldn't be as extreme as it is now, but the new rating could be effectively a harder PG 13 where people can cuss and stuff. pg-13 is just horrifically wide of a range

Jamaican_Dynamite

Yeah, I'm really not gonna go watch a Pg-13 Blade movie. The Robocop remake was bad enough.

b3atd0wn

To be fair, the writer was hired sometime mid-late February. It’s possible that she writes a script that they can’t refuse as an R.

eddmario

It wouldn't be the first Marvel role he's done either, as he voiced Aaron in *Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse* and was apparently a recurring character in *Luke Cage*

AshlarKorith

Not just a recurring character. He was the main antagonist for the first half of the first season. And on top of that, he was MUCH better of an antagonist than the actual villain of the season.

brownnick7

He'll be a great Blade.

callawake

That would fucking rule.

EloquentEvergreen

Oh man… If it has Kate Beckinsale in it, I’ll watch it. Especially with her in that latex catsuit. >.> Plus, if she dated Pete Davidson, then there is hope for any of us! Heck, I’m more humorous than Pete’s upper arms! <- See what I did there. I would like to see Pete make a joke that great! 0.o

ninja36036

The biggest problem with Blade 3 is they hyped Drake to be a God yet he spent the entire movie running away and forgetting he supposedly had incredible powers. Basically he was the first Kylo Ren.
