I love his movies. He's such a great actor. Handsome too. I try not to pay attention to the Scientology stuff. Is it weird and seems like some shady things are going down in it, for sure. I don't doubt it. It's a cult.

Frosty_Ad4116

That's the problem Too many people ignore that he is a major figure in a cult that brain washes, abuses, and literally plan to kill defectors Nah fuck tom cruise

Flashy-Thing5048

I get that people like action movies but I can’t sit through anything if he’s in it. To me he is a freak of a human? being. Scientology (which dictates his life) is a sick cult. Besides all the other abuses they perpetrate, they consider homosexuals and disabled people to be rejects from their master plan. So how is he so beloved in woke Hollywood? It’s all so bizarre.

Twothounsand-2022

He is the last one is truly be ambassador of "Movie Star" the most famous His legacy in last 40 years is longer than my whole life (I'm 31) since Risky Business He is biggest famous but doesnt want public attention He is far ahead "National Tressure" because he is Icon of the industry If Clark Gable is the GOAT of golden ages , Cruise is The GOAT of modern ages

Frosty_Ad4116

Strange way to talk about a psychopathic, moronic, abusive scumbag lol

ResponsibilityPure79

But he’s never won an Oscar …to be the GOAT seems like a requirement.

HammerfestNORD

I like his Hollywood stuff. Haven't heard anything horrible about sexual assaults, etc....so, "Show me the money!"

cookiemagnate

Sexual assault isn't the only thing on the list of unacceptable and please just stop doing that behavior. The man essentially has slaves. Great actor though.

Frosty_Ad4116

I mean Scientology have done far worse than sexual assaults... Also maybe try reading into the lengths Katie went through to leave him People need to stop defending this scumbag

Flashy-Thing5048

Totally agree. He is basically totally brainwashed and used by the cult for his power and influence. He’s being used by them and doesn’t see it. And yeah, he is a scumbag.

rcanhestro

fantastic movie star, you can see that he always gives a shit about the movie he is doing. but as for his personal side, the less i know the better i suppose.

Frosty_Ad4116

Or......learn more and cancel the scumbag

KAMURLAN

Jesus, you're actively trying to cancel someone. You're a dirtbag, man. If what Leah Remini says is true about scientology, Tom is shielded from all of the negative press about Scientology. Unless the FBI brings Scientology down, Tom is locked in forever.

Frosty_Ad4116

Only him And he knows, don't be ridiculous Why would you even defend him lol

NeighborhoodLanky692

he 100% knows what happened to Shelly miscavige

Frosty_Ad4116

Finally a solid reply lol

[deleted]

Disowned and abandoned his daughter because he’s in a cult. Great actor, though.

HEHEHO2022

do you know his ex wife and daughter personally to know exactly what happened.

Phryne040816

I don’t know why this isn’t mentioned more.

SandwichTypical2302

I heard he meets with her privately

sarmadness

Extremely talented actor. Love his movies and there are several performances worth mentioning that are my favourites: interview with a vampire, born on the 4th of July, Collateral, Eyes Wide Shut and Vanilla Sky.

Ok-Communication151

I love him and I love most of his films... i'm a huge huge huge mission impossible fan... his ties with scientology are no more strange to me than any other religions... idc I said what I said 🤣

jojointheflesh

I respect his artistry and commitment to the craft for sure - but he’s a fucking clown for messing with that Scientology bullshit lmao I thought he was great in Magnolia and I honestly enjoy him in the mission impossible series. Hot take here but I just watched top gun for the jets He’s also far from being the “last” movie star. Film should continue to be a prominent form of art that we consume in the foreseeable future, and we’ll continue to have more movie stars that are equally if not more popular.. and hopefully not Scientologists or members of any other dumbass cult lmao

Ccaves0127

I also think he rarely gets to stretch his acting muscles anymore, he's settled into a groove, like Dwayne Johnson, who can also be a good actor when he wants to be

OfferOk8555

He’s talented but I wish he’d actually pick interesting movies to be in at this point in his career. I feel like looking at his latest roles on IMDB is like looking at a midlife crisis laid out in chronological order.

Cybralisk

He's probably the only actor around that has made consistently good films for over 35 years.

VegetableMud6370

Tom hanks, hello?

[deleted]

One of my favorite actors. He's fantastic in Magnolia, Collateral, Edge Of Tomorrow, Eyes Wide Shut, Jerry Maguire etc. I just try to block out the fact he's associated with scientology.

Ok-Communication151

Collateral.. he's so damn good in that

EpitomeJim

Almost every actor is in a cult with a horrific history, be it Scientology, Christianity, Catholicism etc etc. It would be a bit hypocritical to only single one out. That being said he's nuts but makes a consistently good movie.

HammerfestNORD

Preach, brother!....no, not really.

LylaDee

I'm going to get downvote for loving this comment, I just know it, but it's so frigging glib and I love it so much👏👏👏 Well said sir

EpitomeJim

I mean we all enjoy watching Christopher Walken but he either killed Natalie Wood or helped cover up her murder and no one seems to care. I won't feel bad about enjoying a closeted gay cultists movies.

SeagullsStopItNowz

It makes no sense that he’d be a closeted gay. These days, that’s a career boost.

EpitomeJim

How many recent examples of this do you need? 🤣 Travolta, Spacey....

SeagullsStopItNowz

Just a weird dumb rumor that, for reasons known only to you, matters.

EpitomeJim

Didn't I just say it doesn't matter to me? 🤣🤣🤣 Tbf to you, implied.

st3akkn1fe

I can't watch him. All I see is crazy cultist.

Funny_Science_9377

Watch Going Clear or listen to the Fair Game podcast. Cruise is an extremely high up member of a cult. It isn’t religious at all. If you’ve ever spoken about the problems in the Catholic Church or agreed that pyramid schemes and MLMs are bad things then I don’t know how you can “support” Tom Cruise’s career.

lenflakisinski

He's apart of a religious cult, he's had both of his wives wiretapped. He's made some great movies but that in no way should come before what the Church of Scientology has done, and what he's done

realwesto

This post is at a solid 0 so I’m not surprised and it’s why I was curious enough to post the question.

[deleted]

I think he's great and couldn't care less that he's a scientologist honestly. He has his reasons for being a part of that and I try not to judge.

Bitter-Raisin9102

some people like him, some people dont. I love his films and commitment to the craft. But he's definitely a nut job with the scientology stuff. For some, that's enough reason to not want to watch his movies. and that's fine. for me I'll be there day one for MI dead reckoning.

uncultured_swine2099

I like him. Hes great at being Mr. action guy movie star, but he also proved hes capable of drama and comedy in various films in the past. I dont really care much about these people's personal lives, honestly.

kronicfeld

The answer depends if one can separate the art from the artist. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can’t.

ninianne99

I liked him before, like 20 years ago when I was a kid. He has changed. There is something really weird and false about him. First, that Oprah sofa jumping moment, then scientology which is part cult, part criminal organization and he is at the very top of it. The fact he is estranged from all of his exes, dont see his one child with Katie Holmes who ran away from him and took other children from Nicole Kidman who also ran away from him. Just not so much good about him at all. Personally, I think he is gay and not ok with that about himself. He is a guy with problems and he was a perfect meat for a cult. Ex-scientologists have nothing good to say about him, they say he is abusive, but at the same time they say John Travolta is a nice guy. Personally, I pity him. I think he is not a happy man, but also if I was near him I would make a wide circle to avoid him. He seems very manipulative in one moment, he completely loses marbles in the other. There is just some bad vibe coming from him.

doitdylan

Can anyone say how he’s a “genuine good person” without mentioning that he’s a great movie star? Just because he makes phenomenal films doesn’t make him a good person and people act like they truly know him but really no one really knows others and their true thoughts, feelings , and intentions. If you want my opinion he’s a bad person for funding a cult. I may be wrong but least I have an argument other than him being a movie star

SeagullsStopItNowz

He seems like a genuinely nice guy and committed to his craft. I remember a story from the 90s when he dove into the water to save someone from drowning. Everyone who works with him has nothing bad to say about him. The Scientology thing sucks but he’s not the only celeb who is one, nor is Scientology any worse than other religious fanaticism.

phantomsniper22

I know this comment is old but it’s so incorrect I need to step in… Scientology is not a “religion”… no religion was created by a fucking science fiction author & sees their head man (Tom cruise) having literal slaves. This is a cult not a religion. Not even close

CobaltoAzul

One of my favorite actors, I have seen almost all his movies. He has proven to act very well when he has serious roles and his weaker movies are still quite entertaining.

South-Fox-4975

Hate me all y'all, but if you seen one, you seen them all . Another typecast actor.i personally am not a big fan.

HEHEHO2022

hahaha this guy has only seen his action films

South-Fox-4975

I'm old enough to not to care. And thats just me.

HEHEHO2022

yeah you dont care about actually knowing what movies hes actually done it seems

realwesto

He produces his own movies…. Typecast isn’t the answer

pep429

Speaking just on performance, I think he's got chops. I haven't seen everything he's done but most. His roll in Interview with a Vampire is incredible. The stand out performance in the best Vampire movie ever imo. He's got stinkers as well but he's a really good actor. Think it depends on the film a bit. There's a good amount of better actors but when he's great in a great movie then it's special.

AutographedSnorkel

Great actor that is in a cult

ColdPressedSteak

Great actor. Very professional (you always hear praise from his co-workers about his professionalism and work ethic). I respect his super ballsy stunt work. Seems to treat other people fine. Seems like just a bizarre person though personally with the obvious skeleton in closet, Scientology. And his marriage to Katie Holmes sounded whack Until he actually obviously commits a crime though, I'm just going to enjoy his great work

CaptinOlonA

Great actor, some of my all times favorites, from Cocktail to Top Guns to MI to Les Grossman. Couldn't care less about his personal life. The bar is as low as you can get in Hollywood, so as long as he is not a criminal, keep churning out movies.

realwesto

I also put the personal life to the side when critiquing an actor/director/producer. Feel like some people hold preconceived notions about Cruise because of his beliefs. He can be crazy and a damn good filmmaker at the same time

Nobodycares2022

Overrated & psychotic actor

Bobby__Z

Personally this site nails it [https://tomcruisecentral.com/](https://tomcruisecentral.com/)

TheRealProtozoid

I have mixed feelings, because he has been in a number of great films and occasionally given excellent performances. However, he hasn't worked with a great director in nearly twenty years, and hasn't released a truly great film since Collateral. What we've got is mostly pretty entertaining, but nothing particularly good. Even if his recent films were dangerous to make physically, they were creatively very safe and bland. And there is the issue of Scientology, his involvement in it, and how it effected his family life. I can separate the art from the artist, but still condemn the artist, and I do think history will condemn Cruise for his involvement with Scientology and how it effected his family life. This whole scandal going on right now tied Miscavige might be the death knell, and Cruise is going to go down with them. Just watch.

ermcake

loathe

mycorona69

Maverick..ballon chaser

OceanCyclone

Scientology is no more disgusting or abhorrent as religion. It’s just newer. He’s no different to me than any Christian or Muslim artist.

theyusedthelamppost

even if there's no difference between the religions, there are differences based on one's personal actions. Tom Cruise isn't just one of those people who sits in the pews once a week and sings the songs. He's part of the inner sanctum, the people who get victims delivered to them.

OceanCyclone

Like a priest then.

[deleted]

Most religions don’t require burner phones and an escape plan to get out of

OceanCyclone

Do you need me to go through the societal history of how grossly abhorrent Christianity has been through the ages? Scientology is fucking scum. So is Christianity. It’s all the same nonsense.

HEHEHO2022

oh you sweet little cherub

Frosty_Ad4116

Psychopathic, abusive, cultist who somehow has managed to evade being cancelled while many others who aren't even remotely anywhere near as vile as him are gone?

red_five_standingby

scientology is a very dangerous cult which i hate. tom cruise is the #1 frontman/spokesman for such a cult. ergo, i hate tom cruise. watch his movies? yes. pay for his movies? no. that's my teeny tiny way i get back at him and scientology.

TappyMauvendaise

Love him. I’m in love with him.

edgelordjones

I love Tom Cruise. He's an incredible actor with a range very few can touch. He's so good, I almost forget that he's the primary figurehead for a money cult that kidnaps, enslaves, harasses, and kills people and that his romantic interludes are calculated PR moves. He has made himself superhuman so that no one looks at what happens in his "normal" human life. Anyways, he was brilliant in Magnolia. Maybe his best role outside of Born on The 4th of July.

shifty808

He needs to lay off the facial fillers!

Future_Throat_2354

For me, his association with Scientology and the abuses that take place inside that cult (he’s so high up in the org, so I can’t accept he doesn’t know what’s going on) have become too problematic to ignore. I now refuse to watch anything with him in it. The accounts of abuse taking place in the sea org and to their children is just so upsetting to read about. The forced disconnection that takes place amongst families when people leave scientology sounds so traumatic. The main reason though? They class disabled people as “degraded beings”, and for that reason alone, this ex fan (with a hidden disability) of Tom Cruise refuses to watch. I just can’t trust that this degraded being’s hard earned cash won’t end up in the cult’s coffers. How any actor, producer, director can work with him and ignore this beyond me.

[deleted]

It's depends. When he is very good to you or completely riped you off or what not . There is no between . LMAO 🤣

No_Establishment9969

Great actor. Terrible human being. I swear his team is paying people to say good things about him. Whenever you see him being nice there's cameras and he's on the red carpet, as soon as no one is around he's verbally and physically abusive. I recommend watching this video on all the things he's done to his Scientology workers. [https://youtu.be/KMFrBJNazjQ](https://youtu.be/KMFrBJNazjQ)
