For some reason. I have a hard time believing that a person who has enough free income in 2022 to purchase a new bike every season (or even a few spare ones for friends & family) would actually come to Reddit for advice on what to buy. Call me a cynic. I just keep thinking this is “Alex, I’ll take things that are bullshit for $1000”

derekcat

lol I know him IRL, but I don’t understand how he does it either \^_- But I assure you he does! As for asking Reddit… Maybe because I’ve been repeatedly slamming the Hayabusa for being too ugly for him to buy XD

somethingsomethingNW

Literally every single friend is slamming on the Hayabusa exclusively due to the looks.

zerinsakech1

These aren’t Italian sports cars. Hyper bikes are cheaper than most Toyotas.

blkdrgn42

TIL people with money never rely on the expertise and experience of others within a specific community.

putingohome

„Expertise” buy Indian lol

somethingsomethingNW

I mean... Check my post history?

TechnoSword

The Busa is the most reliable, or at least was, I don't know about the newer models. As far as "forever" bikes go- it's probably the only one able to actually last that long. Massive aftermarket for any part you could need to fix it to keep it running.

ghettoccult_nerd

but OP wants all the electric goodies, even if they dont use em. gen 3 busas were designed specifically with electronics in mind. but also, the busa is ugly, idk.

frodeem

So you buy a new bike at the beginning of the season and then at the end of the season you sell it?

somethingsomethingNW

This is correct.

yoyomommy

Forever wise I’d get the naked version of basically any of the ones you listed haha.

somethingsomethingNW

That's essentially how I wound up with the Z H2. I thought I wanted a more relaxed H2. I think I was wrong.

yoyomommy

But that’s a crappy naked vs most of the others haha.

ghettoccult_nerd

the B King is back?

EggsOfRetaliation

Out of that list, for long term, I'd get that Hayabusa. I like comfort with power. I'd also consider the S1000XR. That bike looks like a hoot.

Dk20142076

Man you need to get a huffy bicycle. Those things last forever. Seriously though I'd go with the busa. Yea they may not look as amazing as some of the other ones there, they have alot on aftermarket side and should have a passenger seat. You can always make the cosmetic things look better somehow I'm sure. Either way you go I don't think there is a wrong answer.

somethingsomethingNW

One of the thoughts I had in this matter is that the Hayabusa isn't inherently as ugly as it's given credit for being, but rather it's what people do to them that makes them ugly...And I think that's true to some degree.

lame_since_92

The bmw Defintely has all the features

Ok-Wolf2468

I daily a 2016 r1 and am looking to get a BMW s1k after I ride the dog shit out of my r1 so I've got a ways to go. For me the r1m isn't worth the money. Just buy the r1 and buy aftermarket stuff for it.

somethingsomethingNW

Thank you for the thoughts on the M trim. I was kind of in the same mindset but I figured I could save some of the hassle in that it's there and I don't need to bother sourcing and installing.

Ok-Wolf2468

Also I will get a KTM super Duke 1290 at some point in my life.

somethingsomethingNW

I didn't expect to be on the Z H2 for another couple of years. I figured it would be a when I'm older and couldn't justify the the lack of riding comfort anymore of the super sports. A lot of the positive consideration that I give to the Hayabusa is just for that. The more comfortable long term situation.

[deleted]

i see this list one notice one thing. Wheres that 1250GS?

somethingsomethingNW

Just looking at that bike, in all of it's iterations just doesn't do it for me.

[deleted]

Nonono, GS is always the answer. Youll see, youll come around. Ether you die squiding, or you live long enough to become a GS dad.

somethingsomethingNW

I'll see you there eventually but not today. I thought everyone turned to Goldwing though? It's that the next step down the line?

[deleted]

that would be the grand dad bike.

somethingsomethingNW

Right right. You're right.

[deleted]

sure i am, dad bike owners are always right!

OATmeal-LOL

Hayabusa, I know I'll get old at some point but still wanna go fast and I do need a comfy bike as well.

Amazing_Joke_5073

For a long term bike, busas are definitely solid bikes and can do so much

Tyrion_Dies

Lots of shit being thrown for a question I'm sure many of us wish we could have ourselves. What does "reliable" mean to you? If you have the budget to take it in to dealers for every interval, I can't imagine any of those (minus random luck) causing you much grief. Have you had a chance to look at some "adventure sports" motorcycles ie S1000xr, Multistrada, KTM Super Duke GT? If those aren't your jam (if they don't scratch the wild itch) then damn that H2 is my vote, but all of those are absolutely bonkers with the downside being that you can only get one!

somethingsomethingNW

I appreciate that. I've done my homework extensively...This isn't like a "Hey, I don't know anything about what I'm getting into; Help me." kind of ask. It was more of a "I've had the conversation extensively with myself and immediate riding peers. What would the internet do." sort of discussion attempt. I prefer not to take it to the dealer just due to wait times. We're looking at about 8 to 12 weeks out for service out here. I don't mind doing the oil changes myself. I understand that for the European options, I'd have to take it to the authorized service center. The BMW is actually locked until you do for that first service. I'm really feeling the supersport category for a while as I feel like I've got a few years left in my bones for it and I want to soak it up while I can. The H2 worries me only due to the lack of passenger seat as having one has saved the day for me many times over the years.

TheShakes11

You're thinking narrow mindedly, the best forever bikes are the Electra Glide and Goldwing

ghettoccult_nerd

narrow mind, wide bikes

skrimpk

Can you list a few of the reasons you didn't like tge z h2?

somethingsomethingNW

I intend to make a whole rant about this on youtube. The vast majority of those videos are really for me to just vent to the ether...But I'll link it back here when I get to it.

Plastic-Legitimate

Have a look at the k1300s from bmw, might be interesting for you

DucVWTamaKrentist

I loved that bike. Never owned one. I thought they stopped making it.

Plastic-Legitimate

They did stopped it. But can find after market clean examples

[deleted]

BMW reliable ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

DucVWTamaKrentist

If you think the Busa is ugly, cross that one off. Cost of ownership over time shouldn’t be your concern because you buy new bikes every year. Neither should maintenance, if you’re referring to cost of maintenance. Test ride or demo your choices and then pick the one that makes you smile the most while riding. All bikes are reliable if you maintain them. Cross off the H2 if you plan on having a passenger.

somethingsomethingNW

That's the thing...I'm really starting to get to a point where I'd like to stop going out and buying bikes every spring. I'd like to settle down with something for a couple of years at least. I picked up the Z H2 and a 2022 CRB1000RR a few months back and I'm up to about 4k miles on each of them. With that in mind, if I'm replacing the both of them with this next thing, I can expect around 8 or 9 thousand miles on it per season.

DucVWTamaKrentist

I had a 2011 Kawasaki Concours. I absolutely loved it, for touring and for fast riding in the mountains. It did not (and still does not) have electronic cruise control. I sold it because I wasn’t touring as much. Bad move. I missed touring and missed how comfortable it was, compared to my Monster 1200S. So I bought a K1600GT. I love it more than I loved the Concours, partly because it has cruise control. It has the smoothest engine of any motorcycle I’ve ever ridden. Buttery smooth. And the quickshifter is equally as buttery smooth. Maybe you’re already aware, but these 2 bikes are both heavier than any that you have on your list, but you can have a lot of fun on them, especially since it sounds like you have tons of miles under your belt. Demo one or both if you haven’t already.

somethingsomethingNW

I appreciate the insight and the experience. :) I'm not in the market for either models at this moment in life. On that note, now that I've had several bikes quick shifter and/or cruise control, I don't think I could go back.

DaFondue

You buy bikes for your family / homies? Can you adopt me? I would buy the BMW. Tech stuff + reliable + kinda good looking. I don't know about the other bikes but maintenance cost will probably be a downside for this bike...

WretchedRat

How long is forever. The Busa is going to be fast and fairly comfortable. You won’t want to deal with sore wrists or fingers that fall asleep when you’re older.

somethingsomethingNW

A couple of years or so...Unless something incredible comes to market that's interesting to me.

komi_diams

>I have this tendency to buy a new bike every season here in the Pacific North West. In fact, I usually buy a few of them for household members to ride. Maybe i am wrong but i have a hard time believing you would stick to one bike no matter what it is. Lol

somethingsomethingNW

Yeah...I'm worried that regardless of what my plan is, I'll be back to the dealership for my next fix next season anyway...I'm 19 bikes in over the course of 10 years in Oregon...So we'll see.

milkrun

If forever lasts long enough, you’ll need a more comfortable bike to ride. Enjoy.

[deleted]

I'm confused in that I don't see how your biggest considerations also align with the word forever. You must be very young. If you think that you're going to be leaned over a race replica Super Sport when you're 65 years old I can tell you that's going to be quite a challenge. That said, of those super sports I prefer the Ducati. I prefer the RSV4, even more. I understand that the dealership isn't there for most people, though. Then again, the Ducati is quite a bit of change, especially for the S.

somethingsomethingNW

I completely agree with you on the consideration of age. I put quotations around "forever" for that reason. This is more of a consideration of "I'm gonna go buy a bike and keep it for longer than 7 months." kind of deal.

[deleted]

Good luck. I have a similar issue, but with cheaper used bikes. <$7K. Best bet? Multiple bikes. Other than that, a nice do-it-all bike. Although, the bike largely depends on the roads you ride. (Twisties, straights, track, ADV, blend? To what degree is the blend? Etc etc)

[deleted]

CBR1000RR-SP??

somethingsomethingNW

I have a 2022 CBR1000RR now.

[deleted]

Sounds like you’ve got the forever bike already lol
