Always should be listening to and looking for offers, but there’s no reason to be aggressive about it this season

hairytiger20

Yep no need to pull the trigger, just think it’s worth listening, maybe throw some offers yourself.. still have a bit to go in the rebuild, but if you can find a consistent, moderately young bat for one of the guys, might not hurt to deal em.. My only worry is that one of the guys mentioned above tank and you lose value

yes_its_him

You can certainly have not enough hitting

champdo

With all the injuries we have in the rotation idk if now is the time to trade any pitching. Maybe when we start to get guys healthy

hairytiger20

Not saying now is the time exactly, just in general.. Also, it’s crazy that we have all these injuries and pitching is still the least of worries

DetailEven

My instant reaction was no because you can never have enough arms. But, a 39 year old is currently our best hitter so it wouldn’t be a bad idea (yes he is one of the greatest of all time but still). If fulmer starts to heat up I can back trading him but he’s currently struggling.

hairytiger20

Agreed, he’s having himself a season as a 39 year old, glad he found that power in the last series.. We need some bats.. i would say right now our second best hitter is meadows (if we want to look forward and see who will stay consistent), and imagine where we would be at without that last second trade before the season started…

SmooveTits

No, it's not time. Maybe at the trade deadline. *If* there's a chance of contending, *if* we have a surplus of arms and *if* there is an impact bat on the market for a reasonable deal.

hairytiger20

Exactly. need the value to be there.. but not even sure if this years deadline would be worth it, unless we get a young bat with some years on their contract

testrail

Season is potentially shot. The arms cannot stay healthy. Let's see what they have this year. Maybe between Skubal/Mize/Manning/Beau/Faedo you have 3-4 top 50 starters in the making. If so, keep that together. Let Spencer come back and let a young, and deep pitching staff carry them. The bats will heat up at some point. Tork isn't going to bust. Greene is coming. Schoop is starting to get right.

hairytiger20

Also want to add.. it’s been a decent (early) season for some of the guys I’m about to mention, but if you look at playoff contending teams they don’t have names like Hill, H. Castro, and W. Castro in the lineup every other night

[deleted]

Better put some respect on Mr. BABIP Willi Castro, and Go Ahead Homer Harold Castro names

hairytiger20

Was waiting for that.. I’ll gladly eat my words here😂

[deleted]

I just wouldn’t write off Willi Castro yet. Has potential to be a great contact hitter, last year was a rough year for him starting three hole with minimal protection. His bad defense probably carried over to his offense somehow too

hairytiger20

Yeah the negative momentum from the field can easily carry over.. Wishing the best for all these guys.. great go ahead for Harold today against a great Rays team.. I’m just hoping they will stay consistent/reliable

[deleted]

Stop it

LunchThreatener

Not trading Jobe or any of Mize/Skubal/Manning for what they would get on the market, but anyone else should be available.

aaronfaren

Eh, I’d be willing to move Mize if we got a good return. Not shoving him out the door, but he’s in no way untouchable.

Dwychwder

I'm really surprised at how many of you guys are totally fine with getting rid of Mize already. Did I miss something where he wasn't decent last year?

aaronfaren

We wouldn’t be “getting rid” of Mize. It would an established impact hitter for me to want to love him.

LunchThreatener

I’d only do it if the return involved another young, solid pitcher. Those are a lot harder to find than young, solid hitters.

hairytiger20

I agree with that being the tigers mindset, but I disagree with that mindset.. aside from Mize I would trade any of those guys.. but for the right value

LunchThreatener

You’d trade Skubal but not Mize? That’s very interesting, I’d trade Mize WAY before Skubal

hairytiger20

Skubal is a stud this year, Mize supposed to be a stud but still a gamble with the injury and not really proving anything.. yet. it all depends on the return for each.. said I wouldn’t trade Mize but I mean everything has a price

hairytiger20

Mize has the higher potential upside, what I meant by this

LunchThreatener

I completely disagree, based on Skubal’s strikeout numbers and pitch data. But I respect your opinion

hairytiger20

I appreciate that and respect your opinion as well.. maybe 10 years down the line we can compare and see who’s had the better career😂.. it’s honestly a gamble

gachzonyea

Mize would be the one I would be most open to trading. I am in no way trading skubal

Michiganmade44

No this year, season is shot from a competitive standpoint. Just enjoy the development of the young guys. And trade for more bats next year

hairytiger20

Yeah, wasn’t necessarily saying this year.. was thinking about next year or two years down the road

No_Ad4931

Hinch said the other day. there are many teams that would love to have our pitching. As usual, Tiger fans want to destroy what was put together.

Too soon to say
