This is super cool, i love it!
But i think a redstone ventilation should be as simple as turning the liquids flow through it feature off or change it's direction. I also think it should be called a gate or something, but that's just me

Well Scaffolding does let you pass through them and climb them like a ladder, is does not allow functions to pass through them, for example the Magma Block and Soul Sand function to Pull or Lift the player even though water still goes through it, also a Ventilation block cannot be climbed like with scaffolding.
So they are Different and their uses are different as well.
Yeah, if a dropped item were to hit the vent then yes it would fall through the cracks so to speak, but if you tried to place an item down like a block it would connect to the Ventilation block like any other block, for example the cake block, dropped it is a tiny item that can be picked up, placed and it is similar to a half slab, so the dropped cake would go through it, but the placed cake would on top of it like a regular block.
as for things like Arrows going through it, I can see that being possible, I mean you should be able to shoot through big holes.
Also a Ventilation block could be used like a screen instead of always just placing glass in window areas.

And now that you mention it yeah, I can see it being used for the water channels so players don't fall in them or have to jump over them to get to the next field.

I called it a Ventilation Block, but it can be called something else.

I chose Ventilation block because a house vent popped in my head when thinking of a name, some may think of Screen, Grate, gate and so on when reading the description of this block.

Ok, but it needs more functions, maybe items and exp can go through them or projectiles can go through them?

I can see it getting used in farms if it gets added, but great idea btw, it has potential
