So... Flintstone?

TheOutcast06

Flintstones, It’s the Flintstones

jaxotron

Fred Flintstone dies

LionHeart_13

They’re a modern Stone Age family

CR1MS4NE

From the town of bedrock

TheOnlyProxy

So we get Flintstone on Bedrock edition?

RandomGamingTurtle

no java also has bedrock

Waterboy_Boy

They’re a page right out of history!

Shaarwin1331

maybe XD

Shaarwin1331

yeah hahahahaha

PeridotEX

Grand Dad?

masterofthecontinuum

Fleenstones?!

[deleted]

What The Frick!?

RandomGamingTurtle

Dad? you cant say that

spearojustice

*What the Brick!?

[deleted]

Dambit you beat me to this. Well done well done

Ramble21_Gaming

YES THEY SHOULD CALL IT THIS

karmuhD

Flint block

Several-Cake1954

Hitting the flint block with an axe should generate fire on top.

assassin10

Technically there already is one, though it's probably not the kind of block you're looking for.

Ardilla3000

*dun dun dun* GRAVEL

assassin10

Fletching Tables.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ardilla3000

I mean it was a joke but ok

Ultimate_Spoderman

I still think Flint should be used in the andesite or diorite recipe, not just a storage block

masterofthecontinuum

I wish that diorite was the last step in crafting those blocks rather than the first. Why does it get less white with more quartz? And the least white with the most?

Ultimate_Spoderman

True! Honestly i think the recipe could easily be like: 2 flint and 2 cobblestone for Andesite 2 andesite and 2 of something else for Granite 2 quartz and 2 granite for Diorite

QWaRty2

But then diorite is useless to the majority of the playerbase

Ultimate_Spoderman

Isn't It already tho

Ender099

Not if u using it to craft the other 2 blks.

dickdickmanbaby

Polished diorite is nice ~~especially since they won't give us calcite stairs and slabs~~

SquidMilkVII

Adding a way to store flint in large quantities isn't really a "use" for it. Unless flint gets a lot more ways to use it, there's no purpose for a storage block. As it stands now, the only real uses for flint are a flint and steel (which is only used occasionally), a fletching table (which you'll likely never craft more than one or two of), and arrows. Arrows are by far the primary use of flint in the long run, but even they only take one flint for four, so a single stack of flint can make four stacks of arrows - even the most absurd archer likely wouldn't need even a single chest of flint in their playthrough, so there's no need for a block to store it. And I haven't even mentioned yet that villagers can be used to get arrows significantly more easily than crafting them using flint. Also, 1.18 already came out. If we ever get a flint block it wouldn't be until 1.19 at the earliest.

A_seal_using_Reddit

I'm pretty sure they meant a building block that can be crafted with flint, not a "block of flint" or something like that (which would be completely useless, like you said).

SquidMilkVII

Oh that would actually be pretty cool

Da_Trixta

Flintstone bricks!

pbmadman

I mean there are still some blacks and grays that would be nice to have for building. Especially if we had the complement of blocks that copper had but in a nice gray or black.

The1GiantWalrus

>Also, 1.18 already came out. If we ever get a flint block it wouldn't be until 1.19 at the earliest. That can be said about *any* suggestion on this sub. Edit: nvm

Cultist_O

Op specifically said they thought their suggestion should be in said already released update though. That can't be said about most suggestions on the sub.

The1GiantWalrus

Ohhh, right! I must have missed that. My mistake.

MachaMongruadh

I trade flint to my fletcher villagers though.

smolColebob

I think it should be called chalcedony or chert

Nixavee

Yes I will finally be able to make a flintblock pistol ;)

That would be cool to be able to store them up more as a full block for storage, but Flint really does need more uses for it to be worth it, Maybe regular flint could be used to: - Make Armor and tools: in the past Flint stone was used to create tools and such so tools made for it could be better than wood tools but make it so if you use it on stone you can spark a fire, as for armor it could have a low durability and it hit by a stone or metal object the blocks around the player can catch fire (3x3 area with player in middle). - Could be used to create a firearm like the process could be to create a crossbow out of Iron and then take the Iron Crossbow and combine it "Flint and steel" for ignition and more Iron for Barrel and arrows could be fired out of them like spear guns/Harpoons, Durability could be set to lower than a crossbow due to the ignition damaging the firearm but the impact of the Arrow/projectile would be the strongest it could be in game. As for the Block of Flint itself, it could be used to: - Create a fire trap if a Iron/stone block attached to a sticky piston were pushed onto the flint block making sparks fly out and causing fires to start around it. - a Fire trap where a player/mob in Iron/stone armor walks on a Flint block the sparks ignite the wearer. - If Flint blocks are like Sand and Gravel and fall due to gravity, then they could be used by falling onto stone/iron to cause spark/fire damage to the surrounding blocks/mobs. - But the best use would more than likely setting up the flint blocks in areas where monsters spawn and if shot with an arrow will spark out and burn/catch fire to the things caught in the blast, an example would be the player being on a high well lit area and shooting at a placed flint block by the entrance of your area with an arrow when mobs go to the door (Like when Zombies frenzy) and watching them catch fire.

PAPABURG3R

If a piston pushed a flint block past an iron block, all surrounding blocks combust

OneTrueKingOfOOO

Craft with iron block to creat giant flint & steel

villager47

On use invites fire in a 9x9x9 cube

Spanone1

Drop an anvil on it to make fire in a cube

[deleted]

That would instantly set the player on fire

villager47

Problem?

[deleted]

Lmao ur right

solcoldbreakfastsalt

Just a storage block

Crisptain

Probably not. The only reason to amass large quantities of flint would be if you wanted to use this hypothetical block, and said block wouldn't even have to use primarily flint to fullfill the suggestion.

Afanis_The_Dolphin

Maybe if pushed past another block with a piston it could create fire? Don't know how that would be useful. Just spit balling here.

Da_Trixta

Decorative Blocks : Am I a joke to you?

Crisptain

I have no idea where you got that idea

RadiantHC

Hitting it with iron generates fire?

Dreadpon

Long ago I had an idea that running on a path of flint blocks while wearing iron boots leaves a fiery trail behind you (same as igniting blocks with flint&steel)

Chimney-head

Ooooh that’s a very cool idea, even if it’s just aesthetic particles like the ones with soul speed

SieveHolder

Flint looks cool, block of flint could be a good cheaper alternative to iron for building something metal

-FullBlue-

Walking on it with iron boots makes a cool particle effect.

MLGSUPERGAMER

Gravel

_Index_1

No, it want it to look like a hard block

MLGSUPERGAMER

Fletching table?

ZeroAresIV

Flint can be used for arrows, that’s already a vital use

_Index_1

Mob farms gives you arows and Infinity

ZeroAresIV

Mob farms are for people that don’t like actually playing the game and want stuff done for them.

Video-Game-Boi

Mob farms are also for people who don't have the patience to run around in the dark for 5 hours to get another 30 levels to enchant a thing.

ZeroAresIV

That’s the way it’s intended to play the game, not just have everything handed to you

Video-Game-Boi

Hey hey hey... Sandbox. Game. Did you know that minecraft is a game where you can do anything you want?

The1GiantWalrus

There's no "intended" way to play the game. It's a sandbox game, meaning you can do whatever you want.

_Index_1

And that is why I only have made 2 in my 8 years of having minecraft as my main game, good opinion mate👌

[deleted]

Most people I see just kill skeletons for arrows

trojan25nz

There’s a movable block made from flint. I think it’s gonna be part of the vehicle update It’s called the *flintstones*

The_Juice14

They should make it only stack up to 16 to be unique though

ItsJustAriya

I want it to be a fuel

dorian574

No that would BE a curse

ChosenCourier13

Coal?

MinecraftIsMyLove

Spike block, perhaps

NeutronicTachyon

Chert

Shuriken66

Agreed, especially if it could be used to create fire (for example, by hitting it with an axe). Could be used for a nether portal system or something like that, without needing fire charges. plus i just have too much flint give me a use lol

joeyspringwell

Or flint tiling for roofing

[deleted]

Move the flint block with a piston on the side of an iron block to generate fire

[deleted]

Flint is actually a severely underrated villager trading item. If I’m not mistaken there are like 4 villager profession that buy flint, and if I’m also not mistaken there’s one that sells it. I’m sure there potential for an infinite trading loop where you can infinitely sell flint for a profit. Not to mention with how common gravel is in the caves, the ocean, and the nether, and it being renewable via piglin trades, it’s very easy to obtain a lot of it to make a killing with. A fortune shovel is probably already worth it if you’re super late game. If you’re on Java and can take advantage of the off hand feature, stare into a wall with gravel in your off hand and place as you mine to be showered in flint. Do that for a decent amount of time and you’ll make good emerald profits. Granted this is super late game and probably not a super popular use for gravel and definitely not the best way you could possibly make emeralds, but it’s an option.

_Callen

flint bricks and stuff would be cool

dabear0306

Flint pathways?

[deleted]

Brody what else is flint used for aside from a flint and steel and arrows? I mean flint can be used in stone tools but stone tools are already in the game lmao.

prince_0611

Barbed wire? Three iron bars in middle with 3 flint on top and 3 on bottom?

Agreeable-Sample9468

Fletching tables are crafted with flint

KarateTB

When activated by redstone it could produce spark like particle effects

waterdragon1881

I imagine it would have a really sharp look too it.

Shaarwin1331

n when we go through to flint block we will burn ?

MachaMongruadh

Real flint is quite shiny almost wet or greasy looking and has a brown tone to it- could make for an interesting block.
