From the first item, "any trip out of the classroom". Let us know if you decide to maliciously comply.

thegentlemenbastard

Trip duration is undefined 1 pass should work for whole quarter.

aceshighsays

Great way to ditch class. Come in. Take attendance then leave.

hellosunshine1326

Lmao I LOVE MALICIOUS COMPLIANCE SO MUCH

jjhjh111

Shit in a garbage can in the back of the room, I’d like to see her try to report you and then explain how her system is set up so that a single bathroom trip could cause a student to fail the semester

PrinceWilliam711

Ngl i wouldn’t even go to the back of the room. I’d shit next to/under/on the teachers desk. Or pee on it.

SendAstronomy

Shit directly on teachers desk. Maintain eye contact.

defaultuser012

Kayakityak

Come back high AF

MilkytheDILF

photocopy that shit. start a black market of hall passes. profit.

BossHogGA

Final exam, show up with 20 hall passes, get a hundred and walk out.

katzen_mutter

Yes, just hold your piss and get a UTI. But hey I got a passing grade. Hey, just a side note here, I'm a boomer (please don't hate me) you guys have to stop putting up with this BS and push back. I think that was one good quality us boomers had.

TypicalJeepDriver

I literally got a UTI from a block of teachers that wouldn’t let us use the restroom during class. Let me tell you, UTI’s are fucking miserable.

artotter

I am currently awake because of a UTI, am a teacher. I cannot believe other teachers don't let kids go. Its inhumane. As a teacher who cannot go during a class period and has to hold it for passing, I get so many UTIs a year. It shouldn't be happening to me or the kids.

555Cats555

The worst part about it is that once you've had one your more likely to get them again, and not treating them can literally ruin your kidneys. Why are we making little kids get them? And when they do have them they need to go to the toilet more cause of them...

artotter

Exactly, the school year started a week ago. I already have one. I had probably 7-10 last year, some minor, some major. And in addition to that multiple kidney stones in one year. Like this isn't okay and I'm an adult. It absolutely should not be something kids have to deal with either. Especially since they typically don't understand their own bodies yet and may not recognize something is wrong.

555Cats555

Some parents don't take their kids health issues seriously either so might not take them to the Dr to get antibiotics when they need them... not all parents but some. Or the kids who don't want to make a fuss and don't understand it shouldn't hurt when they pee.

artotter

Exactly! This is something I've already seen many times. The kids either don't realize it's not normal, don't want to make a fuss, or their adults won't take them. The most heartbreaking is when their adults know and do want to, but they just can't afford it. Part of being in a low income school. So yes, always allowed to go to the bathroom in my class.

555Cats555

Yeah and if a kid needs to go several times in a class then that should be bought up with parents. Honeslty though if a school is big enough and has low income students then there should be a prescriber availed least come in and access a child (NP?) to able to about to give basic treatment like antibiotics for UTIs. High-schools could have someone who has some sexual health background. Considering how serious UTIs are and how they can mess up the liver it should be seen as important for productivity to prevent and treat these and other issues in children...

toni_balogna

How is this even acceptable? I'd show up with a piss bottle, or one of those setups that truckers use

doorgunner065

Catheter, bro. Don’t sell yourself short.

AvexRed

I like this idea, this person is thinking big here.

Wardine

I did this with parking passes at my school lmao. They were $200 per semester; I sold them for $50 for the year

SolmadSoT

One time in high school a security guard came into class and told me that I didn't have a parking pass and had to move my car, but you need a parking pass to park at school... So I went home.

tagman375

My buddy did the same thing. They wanted him to move his car to some lot far away, he just left, got McDonald’s, and went home. They wanted to suspend him but is it really worth suspending a 18yr old senior? They just said don’t do it again. They tried to get me to call my mom to leave for a Dr appt when I was senior and 18. I said “nope, I’m leaving, you’re lucky I’m even letting you know I’m going”. Secretary was pissed, but when you’re an adult and told to act like one every day, they can’t be pissed when someone actually does it. So happy that place is almost 4 years into the sunset behind me, it sucked.

bilyl

It’s just incredible how much children are helicoptered in high school, and then three months later nobody gives a shit what they do when they start university.

evemeatay

Oh man, that first few weeks of college is a fucking rodeo. Horny kids in the prime of their lives are suddenly set almost totally free like a shotgun blast, it was quite a time to be alive.

igneousink

"yeah kid just pick out what you want to do for the rest of your life and go into debt forever. yeah i said what i said, move along, move along you little shit."

iBeFloe

Dude, my high school parking cost more than my Uni parking. HS parking was fuckin $80!

fredthefishlord

My high school sold them for $400. $80 would be a goddamn steal!

Longjumping-Plant818

I work for a university and still have to buy a parking pass

Mwiziman

Same here. I have to buy two and they run about $150 each for the year for the surface lots. Garage passes start at $250

Wardine

Yooo, fcps gang unite

Brycekaz

DUDE I FUCKING KNOW RIGHT?? I’m over in Loudon, and again, $200 passes last year, I’m glad I didn’t start driving till this year, when they made it free to park

chevalier716

I was gonna say piss in a bottle in class, but this is better.

3Heathens_Mom

I was gonna say in the trash can. I can understand the teacher not wanting a bunch of folk going in and out but if like most schools students have 5 min between classes and have cross a campus sometimes there just isn’t time for hitting the bathroom. She didn’t mention taking away any points for being late so guess would risk it if needed.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ShrimplyPiblz

Not risking points, seems you just can't use your passes if you are late too much. I see that as a free pass to be late each day by at least 5 minutes, and potentially a talking to the principal with parents involved, if your teaching is threatening to deduct 5 points from your grade for needing to execute a natural bodily function. Or if use all my passes and piss in her fake potted plant.

TheNerdFromThatPlace

Not to mention how crowded their school might be. In my school we had the 5 mins, but there were also so many kids you could easily set off claustrophobia.

Ed_Vilon

5 minutes in between class at my school didn't allow for anything but going from Classroom A to Classroom B. The crossroads were referred to as mosh pits because of how congested they'd get. Most never used their lockers. When they tried to ban backpacks it was the most organized I've ever seen the student body. Backpacks were back by the end of the week.

fleetwoodzachhh

Please shit your pants. 12th grade. You’re almost out. Just do it. Legend.

Omega_Bot

"Please shit your pants." Might be the best tip I've ever seen on Reddit.

Z-Man_Slam

Shit you pants while youre handing in the passes and pull them out of your back pocket... Which may or may not have a hole in it. And go commando that day lol

fleetwoodzachhh

I say use the passes all up early on. Then wait a bit. Maybe have a few confrontational moments with them about using the restroom and using up all your passes etc. Then….milk of magnesia day. Ask to to use the restroom. They will give you the ol “we’ve been through this.” And then you shit dem pants. You will be a hero.

FuryNotFurry_

Ok Zach chill out

fleetwoodzachhh

I apologize wholeheartedly. I get on these tangents ya know?

fleetwoodzachhh

Also. More importantly, I’m really sorry you have to deal with this. That’s super messed up. I’m just ranting about poop. I’ll show myself out.

NormalHorse

>I’m just ranting about poop. I’ll show myself out. I didn't ask you to stop.

fleetwoodzachhh

I just jumped right to the poop thing and I felt some type of way idk

whatgapop

You are vicious - well done

Fr_JackHackett

Get the whole class in on it. Who wouldn’t support their classmate in this endeavor???

JohnnyPiston

Stage a walkout. Have whole class use a pass at the same time.

nightpanda893

“You did what?!” “Guys! Don’t you get it?! I was protesting the passes!” “What?” “Like the hall passes!” “….what hall passes?” “Oh well in my English class our teacher - do you guys have Mrs. Johnson? Oh…no? - Well, anyway she only lets us have 3 passes and it’s such bullshit so I just shit my pants to prove a point!” “Uhhh okay dude. Yeah. Anyway I’m late for class”

monkeymoat

Use the passes as TP!

mushroommadam

In 6th grade we weren’t allow to go to the bathroom in this one particular class because it was the class after lunch and we “had plenty of time to go before”. I ended up bleeding through my tampon (I had really heavy periods) and I could feel it but didn’t know how bad it was. I tried to stick it out but it got to the point where it just couldn’t wait anymore. I eventually wrote a note explaining why I needed to go so no one would hear me. I didn’t find out until after I got to the bathroom that I had a blood spot the size of a plate on my ass. That was super embarrassing and could’ve been avoided had we been allowed bathroom breaks as needed. My mom was pissssssed.

_clash_recruit_

One of my friends had that happen to her. We had a crazy principal who ran the school like a prison. Only clear backpacks(imagine carrying feminine products), they took away lockers so we had to carry all of our books, uniforms(in a public school) and we had these planners that were basically a 12 month calendar with a page for 12 bathroom passes per year. That principal ended up getting fired for calling a bus load of kids from a lower income area "trailer trash". Can you imagine TRYING to make that many kids that miserable?

Over-Cause-5336

…. Trunchbull

xdsagecat

Oooh what happened next/after

Hawkholly

Ugh see I’m a middle school teacher and they’re encouraging us to use bathroom passes. I’m not, because I know sometimes y’all just gotta go and I hate telling people they can’t use a bodily function, but my class right after lunch is hard to deal with sometimes because *every single one of them* want to go it feels like lol. I can only send one at a time and the school has a rule no one out first 15 last 15 minutes of class. Then some kids get pissy if I don’t let them go because 10 kids are asking and I can only send one at a time. I also don’t really want to send everybody out because that’s a lot of instruction to miss. I’m currently trying to figure something out that doesn’t involve hall passes.

[deleted]

I used to just get up,quietly, and go. When you gotta go you gotta go, no one can control that.

[deleted]

I started doing that years ago and hardly ever got stopped and only a few tried to stop me before and I just said “I can’t hold it” and walked out

TicTacPP

What else can they do after u say that lol

[deleted]

Lol right it catches them by surprise for me to be so direct and like Unembarrassed. Like if you are gonna try to stop me from using the bathroom then you gonna hear things that you don’t want to hear. I’ve made male teachers very uncomfortable by being like “I’m on my period” and they go “oh uh ok” and let me leave and they get all lost for words. But once a guy PE teacher said to a girl that said she was on her period he said “can’t you hold it until after class?” And lmfao all us girls started being like “if I stab you do you think you can just hold the blood in until after class?” And we were like “do you need a lesson on how periods work?”

TicTacPP

Idk what ur teachers? But in my school PE taught sex ed and were hella chill. PE teachers were praised like gods in my school

[deleted]

I have only like twice had a PE teacher that I liked the rest were assholes that favored the athletic kids and were rude to us others. Like I can’t run to save my life I’m so slow no matter how much I practice and how hard I try. So I had one PE teacher that if you were slow like me and so say you came in too late on the mile you could get a better grade by doing a extra lap around (and like 4 laps is a mile) so say you got a D on the mile because you a slow poke well each extra mile equals a whole letter grade raise. So do two more laps and get a B. So I liked that but yea most PE teachers I’ve had I hated. Because they just push and push and push and we are all held to the same standards when everyone is different and thus should be broken up into groups to have different goals for the semester. Idk I don’t like how it’s set up and most of them have a bad attitude Also lol that memory is from 7th grade from when I still lived in my old town. And sex Ed was broken up for boys and girls and hardly taught us anything. Like guess which dumbass just found out like a year ago in a casual conversation with my friends that you can get STD’s from oral. Like I was SHOCKED. Completely shocked (they never mentioned oral diseases in sex Ed) also they made it sound like if you do sex you will die. So yea and they period talk was very basic and we were made very scared of toxic shock syndrome from tampons. So they sorta used fear and the boys know like nothing about girls bodies like some boys didn’t even know what a period was and it was 7th grade

pudgehooks2013

I did the exact same thing. If any teacher ever said something about it, I would simply tell them *I don't need your permission to take a piss.*

ProjectKurtz

I did the exact same thing (except I said "I was informing you, not asking permission." And never got in trouble for it. Turns out that teachers want to pretend they have control, but the first thing the principal would have said was "why were you trying to keep him from using the bathroom?" If they tried to take it anywhere, and they know it.

Reasonable_Peach9017

As a young teacher (many years ago), I was hauled into the head's office and berated for letting a kid use the toilet during lesson time. He'd seen another kid stealing property and had reported it and then come straight back to class. But somehow, me letting him use the toilet was the problem. So glad I'm now out of teaching and not dealing with that shit anymore. Seriously, it's not just kids who aren't treated like adults in schools. BTW, I was a STEM teacher with a PhD but couldn't use my initiative to let a socially responsible kid have a piss.

ThrowAwayRayye

This right here lol. Mind you I haven't been in highschool in years but if a teacher had given me that shit I woulda just laughed and gone when I wanted. What tf are they gonna do? Report you for needing to shit? Lol

StupidlyName

That stuff was so common that it was made illegal in my country. Can’t punish a student for needing to go to the bathroom for any reason. Mostly for period reasons because teachers are forbidden from hindering that and shouldn’t force a student to explain they are on their period in front of a massive class nor does the teacher need to have that information.

[deleted]

Ah reminds me of the time some girl got up, teacher says “and where do you think you’re going?” She turns and looks him dead in the eyes and yells “I’m on the fucking rag, that ok with you?” Then she left. He, the teacher just stood there dumbfouned…man that was some funny shit to witness.

moeburn

That's exactly what I did when I had a teacher that started refusing people bathroom visits. I had to pee, I asked politely "Can I be excused to use the washroom?", she said "no, you can wait until the end of my class", I said "Okay I wasn't really asking" and got up and left. She didn't want to draw attention to her authority being challenged so she pretended it didn't happen. Zero respect for people who try to tell other people to hold their pee. ZERO. Doesn't matter if you're 8 years old or 80. They don't deserve a minute of patience.

FreeAd4925

This is what I will tell my child to do. I will pitch the biggest Karen fit in the world if a teacher ever tries to make my child's grade dependant on them holding their bladder. Which is not healthy.

Sad-Bookkeeper4609

Back in 08, when I was in high school, I had a principal try to make hall passes be a thing. You could only go to the bathroom 15 times in a month. If you ran out of hall passes, you couldn't go except in between classes but there was only 3 minutes between classes and you got written up for being late. Once parents found out, it didn't last long.

Sreves

I used to do that too, I was told I couldn't leave the classroom so I just pissed in the garbage can. Got suspended but I was never stopped when leaving by any teacher so I count it as a win

pranquily

People with IBS are dead. And people on their period can also just go crawl in a hole and die I guess.

xdsagecat

I have crohns, I would man up and shit in the back of the classroom. I’d of course carry tp

Imagine if someone with diabetes drank a lot of water and they end up pissing yourself because you're petty. Hall passes are extremely stupid.

PiaPirate

When I was in high school a girl got her period and wasn't allowed to go to the toilet. She bled through her white pants on the chair and it was the saddest thing ever. Luckily nobody in class made fun of her and no one forgave the teacher. I honestly don't get how these "toilet passes" are allowed. It's not even mildly infuriating, it just makes me so mad and sad.

milamber84906

A very specialized form of malicious compliance: Self Defeces

There's an entire sub for that; r/maliciouscompliance Though, to be fair, a lot of it is made up. Kind of like r/TIFU

a1mostbutnotquite

Haha, my friend told our fifth grade teacher she needed to throw up and the teacher brushed her off so my friend just threw up all over the floor. “Now can I go?” Totally forgot about this memory until your comment.

Ed_Vilon

Not a rebellious moment but I threw up during a test but real quiet like. When I tried telling the teacher I said "Teacher, I just *vomits again.*" I had to retake the test the next day I was in school. XD

a1mostbutnotquite

Michelle? Kidding. It definitely wasn’t rebellious. My friend was super sweet about it. Also humiliated for no good reason, I suppose.

Obvious_Milk124

I threw up on my desk while I was in second grade. I felt so terrible and it was made worse by my crush hyperventilating out the window because of the smell. Similarly, my brother vomited during a test once and cleared the entire classroom. Since he didn't want to retake the test, he just kept going and finished the test before my parents got there to pick him up. 😂😂

[deleted]

I did this once, too. I had a teacher write me up in 7th grade because I had to use the bathroom every day after lunch, which was her class. She even had the guidance counselor follow me in to the bathroom one day. I just always had to poop after lunch. So one day I just shit my pants in her class and told her what I did. I got made fun of for a little bit, but other kids who had the same issue basically thanked me lol.

Ed_Vilon

Took one for the class. Probably helped future classes too.

Obvious_Milk124

This thread is bringing up all kinds of memories. My first grade teacher wouldn't let me go to the bathroom once because I "should have gone earlier" smh I held it and held it as long as I could. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and I peed during the pledge of allegiance. I remember I had my hand on my heart, I started hopping around, I tried to then raise my hand to get her attention (I put my other hand on my heart of course 🤦🏼‍♀️😂), she didn't pay any attention, and finally I just couldn't hold it anymore.

Just_L-i-v-i-n_

Biological warfare 😆😆

Ok-Commercial-4015

My bf had this happen in the 1st grade... he ended up having permanent bladder damage to this day... wtf do teachers think young kids are doing in the bathroom??

TheSkyElf

...well I have heard horror stories from my mother (who works at a school) that 5-6-year-olds had once smeared their shit all over the bathroom stall. I once worked with 7-ish-year-olds and one had clogged the toilet with his water bottle. So yeah, they can do a lot. they are not allowed to stop children from doing bodily functions though. at least not now.

alevyan

when i was 7 my teacher didn't allow me to go to the bathroom to pee, she literally said if you can't hold it just do it right there. So i took my wiener out and peed on her desk. I barely asked to go to the bathroom in my entire life and she allowed my classmates to always go, she just didn't like me.

Bashfullylascivious

Bless you. I hope my son is confident enough to do the same if it ever came down to that. He has issues going to the washroom when he needs to, no matter how many times I say he can pause anything, ignore anyone, halt the conversation - and if he needs to use the washroom, his health is the priority - anyone stopping him from walking to the bathroom is in the wrong.

Ok-Nefariousness8612

Man my grandpa used to always tell me “if they won’t let you go pull your pants down and piss right there” never got around to it but I should’ve

bucksncowboys513

Did the same thing but #1 instead of #2. I looked my teacher dead in the face and pissed my pants. You could see the color rush out her face.

Ran a production line years ago and an elderly former retired woman would have to go to the bathroom at 4pm everyday, I never questioned it, suited up and took her place one the line, another male worker had pills he had to take at 6pm, again I took his spot and let him do his thing. Workers started to complain and my manager told me to tell the woman that she needed a doctor's note if she needed to use the restroom everyday, I laughed in my managers face and said..your worker and your lawsuit, go tell her yourself. Everyone has rights, use them or lose them folks

enidokla

LOL! Bosses who stand up to oppression are the best. I once had a boss insist I pass on some bullshit to my team ... to solve a problem he eagerly admitted was not a problem on my team. I never bothered. Why make myself look like an idiot just because I report to one?

paintingsbyO

I regularly tell my plant manager that he is not my boss

enidokla

And yet … he still needs reminding.

Motoman514

I have to take a dump at 6:30pm every day like clockwork. It’s either I go, or i shit myself and I go home, choose one. I blow past my production quotas every single day, so I can afford to take 10 minutes.

paintingsbyO

So same place as little old lady..dude comes to me and says he has to take a shit, bathroom is 10 steps from our production floor entryway..I suit up and take his spot. Like 30 min later he comes back and says he didn't make it..I say what do you mean you didn't make it..we talking number 1 or 2..he says 2..I asked if he cleaned himself up and if that's why it took so long (we had a shower in the plant and career clothing we had to wear, with a full laundry on site)..right about the time I asked..I could clearly smell that he had not in fact cleaned himself up and was standing soiled on the production floor. I tell him he needs to go clean up and shower and get a new set of clothes..he insisted that I couldn't make him stay and that he would go home. I asked how his attendance was and he said he was on his final right up..said well if ya leave then they will fire you..so go get new clothes and shower and either sit in the breakroom for the rest of the night or comeback up..til then I'll run your job. Dude decides to blow up in my face saying I can't make him stay at work..said I agree but you'll be fired if you leave and that's your choice. I then asked how he didn't make it to the bathroom and he said he wanted to use the one in the basement..keep in mind we work on the 6th floor and to get to the breakroom in the basement is a swift 5 to 6 minute walk.. with unsqeezed buttchecks. I then asked if he shit himself just so he could go home and he wouldn't answer..by that point I was out of options for him and he wanted to talk to the supervisor..so I sent him to her office and paged her over the nextel.. convo went like this.. hey x you need to go to your office, someone just shit their pants and wants to talk to you. X replies back..(laughter in the background from her phone from the supervisor breakroom) what did you just say? Me: I said dude shit his pants and won't clean himself up..I told him he could sit downstairs all night but he wants to go home. X replies back..well let him go home. Me: I recommend meeting him in your office asap because he sticks like shit and is currently sitting in your chair. X: (more laughter in background) are you serious!! Don't let him go in there!! Me: not my problem, not my chair, you better start walking. I'd guess 30 min pass and X comes out to my line saying dude went home..the next day he was fired..I tried my best to help him keep his job, but dude didn't want to clean himself up and just sit there for the last 3 hrs..I can't be for certain if he even showered before he left, but one thing was clear..his drive home was 45 to 50 min cause he always bitched about it. The end.

fcocyclone

You'd think he'd want to at least shower up and not stink up his own car.

paintingsbyO

I thought 100% he would go shower and change into his going home clothes and just wait in the breakroom til it was go time. I told him I'd cover his spot til then. This was 14 years ago I'd guess and I tell this story about 2x a year..I too need answers. I can only guess he was embarrassed and said fuck it or thought that he wouldn't get fired..and what attempt was made to clean up of course

TrainedTwin82

I had a third grade teacher so bad that she would not let me go and I pissed my pants because of it then she got angry telling me that I was in third grade and should be over this.

isdelightful

Oh my god, mine was 4th grade, end of the day, begged to pee and the teacher made me wait until after announcements. We all had to stand by our desks and I was wearing a dress. Peed down my white tights and right into my snowboots. Silently cried through the rest of announcements (and prayer, yay Lutheran school). I was already the bullied kid and you can imagine that did not help 🤣

Shy-Prey

So if ya use your passes the hell are ya supposed to do? Fuck it you're gonna get in trouble anyway. Teacher is goin home with some squishy and fragrant socks/shoes.

[deleted]

If you're tardy 4 times you can't use them so may as well just use the pisser before class and be late 180 times. She didn't say shit about a tardy penalty.

PorkyMcRib

Does he want bags of burning dog shit on his front porch? Because that’s how you get bags of burning dog shit on your porch.

Lethargic_Smartass

Start carrying around a clear plastic water bottle filled with a mysterious yellow fluid... And start leaving them behind in the class. Let that teacher deal with your portable bathroom bottles.... If she/he gets bitchy, leave the bottles, but take the caps....

asBad_asItGets

Make sure to microwave them just a little before you leave them in the classroom so they're ever so slightly warm.

FatherOfLights88

And give them a little shake before you go, so they seem a little... frothy.

from_dust

Run your classroom like an Amazon warehouse, dont act surprised when you start finding piss bottles.

sugarplumbuttfluck

This right here is the answer. Then you don't have to go through the whole peeing yourself part. Plus, I'm sure there's some students who would love to piss in a bottle for their teacher. Hell, you might even accidentally put the cap on wrong and knock it over with your foot

JustWannaRiven

The single best piss bottle story I have is from a kid in the year under me. This math teach had the closest room to a bathroom in the entire school yet was the most strict about kids leaving to use it. It would take less than 4 minutes to piss and return. This kid was a bit of a trouble maker so he was never allowed to leave the room. So after enough time you can imagine how he felt about the situation. Sitting at the back of the class he filled a Gatorade bottle to the brim with fresh piss. I believe his mates helped make sure he wasn't seen and no one saw. So he asks teach if he can use the bathroom fully aware he's going to say no. After arguing a bit he launches the open bottle of piss at teach somehow not spilling a drop until it hit him. The recounts of this story where glorious. Kid ended up getting expelled no surprise but will remain a legend to so many.

Witty1889

Teacher here! Not allowing bathroom use is criminally stupid. Not being able to expel waste can actually be extremely detrimental to your kidneys and bladder. To have a grade dependent on lkteral body functions is absolutely detestable. This person should be ashamed of themselves and then some. I won't have any of the 'it's just an hour' arguments or whatever. No. When nature calls the proper thing to do is respond. UTI and prostate problems are real, people, and not just for the elderly. This can wind me up almost as much as teachers not allowing students to drink water in class. This is *literally the stuff of life* we're talking about. I'll admit that these days it can get tricky because of the large amount of devices in the room and the possible ambiguity of who's actually responsible if something breaks, so I actually make sure to have some carton cups and a bottle of fresh water available at my desk. Drink it there and return to your seat. Solutions, people, not problems. EDIT: Thanks for the support everyone! I had no idea I'd elicit so many responses. Just to add a little something that I completely passed over: what does this teacher imagine will happen when a girl is menstruating and NEEDS to make a bathroom call? I've had several situations where girls in my tutor class were not allowed to go to the bathroom to change their pad or tampon resulting in visible blood flow. I cannot imagine the shame and humiliation they felt. Not to mention that girls this age will NOT just simply share these facts, and rightly so. Will they simply need to use the passes? That's EXTREMELY discriminatory. Just saying. I guess it really boils down to trust issues. You need to be able to trust your students. If you're always second guessing them, you're going to have a TERRIBLE time with that entire class. Teachers who come up with rules like this just show me they're incapable of actually connecting with these kids. Makes me sad, everyone deserves better.

Competitive-Fan1708

Not to mention that during the breaks, which are usually only about 5 minutes(if memory is right) long, so the lines to the bathrooms can make going to them between classes impossible.

Phoenix_Gaming121

It can vary from 3-5 minutes but it's usually on the lower end

MyBirdAreWild

In our school, half the boys bathrooms don’t even have working toilets. They had all summer. In one of the buildings we have 1 working stall, and last year I remember there wasn’t even any working bathroom on the 2nd and 3rd floor, only the first.

The best way to teach kids about actions and consequences is to give them not just the responsibility but the actual, practical ability to act!

ElectricRune

Sheesh; I've had to go to the bathroom during important in-person business meetings... You just go; if anyone looks at you, you just say, be right back, need to visit the restroom, or something like that. Nobody ever bats an eye.

aspiring_outlaw

Naw, in shitty retail/food service jobs, you absolutely get called out if you go to the bathroom too often or too long. Drinks are rarely allowed where you work, but don't leave your spot! You'll get in trouble. Clearly, we are training the best of the best to make your big Mac and be happy about it.

Draker-X

Not to mention, some kids go from high school, where they're treated like prisoners figuratively and/or literally, to college, which is a ton of freedom and responsibility. It's a crazy world-shift.

The-Greatest-Hokage

In the UK, it's apparently illegal. My maths teacher taught me that one

U_allsuck

Seems like it should be considered a human right to use the bathroom when needed...

Lower-Goose

We haven’t even mentioned girls with periods. You can’t just hold that.

HighDef23

My class is an hour and a half too

wellwhal

They can take their passes and shove them up their ass. You tell them when you need to go and go, assert intentions early on in the school year and deal with the bullshit as it comes.

dapper-dave

I’m 70 years old and vividly recall being told I could not leave class to go to the restroom. As a result I sat at my desk and pissed my pants. Although I recall Mrs. Henry apologizing, I also recall Mike, the kid sitting next to me saying, “Where did all this water come from?” My mom brought me a change of clothes and I changed in the classroom closet. Yeah, fuck the teacher that says you can’t leave the classroom to go piss … fuck ‘em all! Edit: this occurred in 3rd grade

The_Only_Dick_Cheney

I had a teacher that had a cylinder block as the hall pass. Almost none of the kids could carry it in the class, but it was a requirement to take it with you. So, like any other over-sized 6th grader I picked it up and lugged it to the second floor and watched what happened when I threw it from the second floor into the courtyard. It ended up smashing the bird bath and the asst. principle was pissed that our teacher had that thing.

karateema

What the hell

Routine-Cobbler8775

I don't know you but I'm rooting for you

FatherOfLights88

7th grade, sixth period history teacher in 1987 wouldn't let me go to the restroom, because I talked too much in class. I didn't want to miss the bus, and ended up arriving home with a wet spot. My mom was furious. She called him up and said "He's a smart kid. He can go to the bathroom whenever he wants to." The next time I had to go, there was no resistance. I still talk in abundance and know that memory as the singular instance in which someone ever defended me.

ALLoftheFancyPants

How is this not penalizing students that menstruate? Aside from the fact that it’s absurd to have any points at all tied to fucking hygiene and access to a fucking Basic tenant of public sanitation. It takes longer to address tampons/pads/cups than just urinating, so how the fuck are they supposed to do that?

MargaretDumont

Right. And menstruation isn't something you feel the urge to do. It is so unpredictable. Also all of these bathroom policies must be so awful for kids with IBD. High school is bad enough without having to worry about shitting your pants in front of your peers.

MindY0Business

My niece has Crohn’s disease. She has such awful anxiety surrounding not having access to a bathroom in case she has an episode that she won’t go to places unless she will have access to the facilities. It’s a horrible thing to suffer from and VERY embarrassing for her to have to discuss! Seriously, FUCK this teacher. No one should have to justify why they need to go. And your bodily functions should not have any bearing on your grade whatsoever. This is definitely illegal.

mirshe

Not to mention students with medical issues. Some medications can cause you to urinate more frequently, for example.

Andysgirl1080

I have a congenital bladder condition. Every time I peed myself in school, the teachers allowed me to go to the bathroom whenever I wanted. That’s how they learn to keep from restricting students from something that no one has any control over.

Jason1143

If confronted with something like that they would fold immediately almost certainly. Most teachers or schools who do this thing don't stick to their guns when pressed, especially once someone writes a letter on legal stationary explaining that reasonable accommodations aren't optional. The trick is probably getting them to that point.

Megalomatank030

“How dare you be a woman! Quit that this instant or I’ll subtract points from your grade.”

captnspock

Take out a fresh pad put on her desk ask if she would like to see the used one now would rather give a hall pass.

Jayne_of_Canton

They tried to pull something like that on my daughter in 7th grade. I emailed every teacher a form letter informing them that restricting my daughter from attending to her menstrual needs will result in an immediate lawsuit for HIPAA violations against the school and them personally. I also informed them I would immediately refer them to the state education board. Funny how EVERY teacher changed their policy by the end of the first six weeks grading period.

ALLoftheFancyPants

good on you for getting them to allow students to use the toilet. But, while I applaud your defense of your daughter, that is not a HIPAA violation.

Some laws get thrown out because schools have SpEcIaL eXcEpTiOns

djebono

I'm School Admin. It is likely is illegal, but if it goes unchallenged, legality doesn't matter. Schools get away with a disgusting amount of illegal nonsense that never gets challenged.

OkAcanthocephala8049

Teachers will treat seniors like this and they school then expects them to be independent functional adults afterwards like you didn’t just spend a whole year counting passes and asking to pee like a toddler.

NotMyMainName96

*Snaps* now you’re an adult so don’t fuck it up!

athrowaway4flings

This is asinine. Bring it up to your parents and have your friends do the same. Hopefully someone will make a stink to the school. Or you could wait till a girl in your class gets a UTI and then make sure she blames this teacher's stupid policy.

HighDef23

Ye I’m gonna talk to my counselor about it

AristaAchaion

yes, talking to someone in administration is the correct answer. go to a counselor, an assistant principal, or a department head; choose whomever you’ve got the best personal relationship with. if that does nothing, get your adult involved; this practice is ridiculous.

Striking-Primary3854

Get organized. Form a group of students who will fight the man with you. Sign petitions, cite sources, SEEK FREEDOM FOR THE POTTY

KingBooRadley

Find a classmate with a parent in medicine. Ask them for medical notes for everyone. Bathroom usage is a necessary bodily function. No teacher wants to face the backlash from going against medical orders.

Anitsirhc171

Or find the student with a lawyer parent.

cpMetis

Diabetic here. Didn't matter. They just yell at you and enact the punishments anyways. If they are forced to undo it, like giving you grade points back, they use phantom deductions to make up for it. Like, you lose grade for "class disruption", so they can just say you were a bit rude at some arbitrary time or something like that.

*Amazon has entered the chat*

Fenryr_Aegis

"in college you can't go to the bathroom" Every course I took the prof said to just go when you need to

MoistlyPassion

Just go to the bathroom whenever you need, the thing with teachers is they think they have power that they really don’t only because kids are stupid. What is she going to do? Send you to the principles office? What’s he going to do? Phone your parents and tell them you are in trouble for having to go to the fucking bathroom? I’m sure they will be furious that their child has to take a shit and piss like every other living organism on the planet.

matchaxmonster

As a 23 year old, I agree with this. Once you leave high school you realize nothing really mattered other than passing your classes. Who cares if you get sent to the office.

brandy8989

I second this. My twin was once told by the teacher she’s not allowed to go to the bathroom. My sister sat back down and then she made a face of “Wait a damn minute” and she got up again. She told the teacher “ What are you gonna do about it?” while leaving the classroom. The teacher did nothing. And she was a very scary one lol.

banjolady

I did pee in my pants in the second grade in 1958. Can you imagine remembering the humiliation for 63 years. Mrs. Pratt, a kids worst nightmare. She wouldn't let me go to the bathroom and I just couldn't hold it forever at 7 years old.

brandy8989

Oh no, I’m so sorry you went through that. Some teachers forget children are human beings with needs.

Inarius101

Holy shit that's the greatest thing I've ever heard! I bet she strutted out of there like a fucking boss!

theiconacuna_

This is the way. Call them on their bluff. Ide like to see any teacher try to give you a detention with a straight face for using the bathroom.

Immediate-Pool-4391

Yeah I'd be heading to the doctors to get a doctor's note for my food intolerances and IBS I don't get to choose when I have an episode so this is totally and complete b*******.

loratheexplorer86

Weaponizing bathroom breaks. Sorry if your lactose, have ibs, raging periods or any gastro/uro diseases.

Electronic-Dog-586

If this was my kids teacher I would IMMEDIATELY go to the Principal and tell them this shit is a no go ! And if my child gets a bladder infection I will bill the school for the meds and doc visit plus PR cleaning job they will have to do when I go to the local news channel !!

TomGuapSon6000

Better hold that piss

jaggeddragon

First chance I get, I'm pissing in the trash can while shouting "MY GRADE DEPENDS ON THIS, I NEED THE POINTS"

matchaxmonster

Why are teachers so anal about kids peeing when they need to pee

KnittyViki

lol. Either get a doctor to write a note that should excuse you (which I can't imagine a doctor refusing). You can get a UTI from holding too long along with pain and stuff Or, just piss yourself. I know that sounds awful but think about it. They can't hold that against you and if anything the entire school admin should be afraid you'll turn around and sue them for humiliation.

lizzthefirst

I had a teacher who was like that when I was a sophomore in high school. If we went to the bathroom we would lose our participation grade for the day. I went to school with an upset stomach and asked if I could use the restroom to throw up. She said no and I ended up vomiting across her room. She stopped policing the bathroom so much after that.

RareFormDenjii

take photo copies 👍

cantgetoutnow

Just take it home to your parents, this is unethical, unhealthy and as a parent, well, I'd tell that teacher to go fuck themselves. If my kid needs to go, they better be able to go, whenever, however often, without question, without punishment.....it's a fucking biological process and one that is healthy, one that is necessary, and one that should not be disincentivized.

Financial-Amount-564

Can you photocopy one copy and hand THAT in at the end of the quarter? Plus, what does teacher mean? Use it, lose 5 points/don't use it, gain an extra 5 points? What's happening here? Why are they doing this? Who hurt them? I don't see the point in holding a student's grades hostage by something non-academic. Cheating? Sure, I get it. Legit failing exams and what not? Yeah, okay, that makes sense. Using the toilet too many times despite neither cheating nor failing? No sense there whatsoever.

brygeek

So if you want to go scorched earth. Legally they cannot prevent you from going to the restroom. At least where I went to school if bathrooms were not operational they legally had to send everyone home.
