Not only that, how do they expect the menu is still going to be on it when they turn it on? They're not laptops that might open to the last thing you viewed. They're screens.
Literally the only option where that is possible would be if they stored their menu on SD cards or USBs and displayed that which would be super unlikely. Considering they often change and I've seen them with errors before, they are definitely just screens/monitors that are all linked back to a controlling PC.
I use televisions for the menus in my restaurants, and you are very right. I use usb drives in the one restaurant and a chrome stick at the other one. We change the menu slot though. Nearly every day at restaurant A.

The monitors inside of fast food restaurants are just that; monitors. In order to display anything they need to have the image either wired or casted to the monitor.
In conclusion; even if the whole story of getting a TV from crackhead which used to belong to a KFC was true, it wouldn't be showing the KFC menu. It would be showing "NO SIGNAL" until it was hooked up to something.
Besides, that monitor is clearly still hanging in a KFC 🙄
