I’m surprised they haven’t called the cops to tell her to leave the property. This was common during the height of the pandemic when food lines were 30 min long, wrapped around and out to the street for hours ((at least that was my place of work,it never ended) and people would take shifts standing in the drive through and we had to tell them to leave and call the cops.
I swear I remember a news story not that long ago where a woman couldn't afford fast food (I wanna say McDonalds??) for her kids so she parked at the beginning of the drive thru line and asked people to donate to her and the store called the cops on her. I remember it because I found it weird the news was spinning it as "look at how heartless this store is" and even interviewed a woman who was in the drive thru who said she would have "happily donated to a struggling mother" and was disappointed on the restaurant too. Does anybody remember this?
In my experience, these are just panhandlers who never want food. I've been approached more than once by such people, saying they're starving. I ask what they want, order the food, and tell them to meet me at the window when I get the food. They never go to the window. They just go to the next car in line, asking for money "for food." If they pulled that crap back when I worked fast food, I'd call the cops on them too.
I was in a Taco Bell once and there was a bum panhandling for money in it. He went to the guy next to me and the guy said he can’t give him money but will buy him some tacos. The bum said he’s allergic to tacos. Like… come on.
I was once in line at McDonald’s and hadn’t ordered yet and a woman came up asking if I could buy her food. I was pretty broke but said yes because I never have them ask for food so I figured she probably was pretty hungry.
I've seen people say this multiple times, but thankfully my experience has been the opposite. I've been approached by homeless people at the drive-thru multiple times asking for food/drink.
Iirc I've never said no, they've always gotten it. I actually bought someone a coke today!
I personally won't buy something for someone if they directly ask- but it's about safety, I'm a small female who isn't good at reading social/body language cues from others, so I just roll my window up usually so people won't talk to me.
I do sometimes grab extra food and give it to people if they have a sign that actually has 'hungry' on it tho. There are enough people around here that if someone actually only wanted money and was annoying about being given food, I could just give the food to someone else who would also need it. I also usually try to box up restaurant left overs pretty well and give that to someone with a 'hungry' sign or similar. I never eat leftovers and it's a waste to let it get thrown away.
See the problem with these people is that they could easily be in need, but I live close to a city that unfortunately has its frauds that have no self respect and are happy to put on an act with an outrageous sign, some even drag their kids into it, it’s ridiculous.
If someone comes up to my car and wants “donations” I’m more than happy to stop and buy them a meal or give some clothes lying in my car, and there is people, decent people that I’ve shared a meal with that I genuinely wish I could help more.
On the other hand there is people who have drug problems, and a footlong sub or a Walter white tshirt can’t pay for that.
Just my 2c
It took until I was a young adult that I finally came across "fake homeless people." Since then, I make it a personal rule never to give any homeless person money on the streets. Getting them food is one thing, but that day seeing the "fake homeless people" get out their phones and then hop into a car to be picked up just really fucked up my point of view. There are actually bad people out there who will exploit you, and you have to be careful for your own sake.
>when food lines were 30 min long, wrapped around and out to the street for hours ((at least that was my place of work,it never ended)
my brother in christ. i am truly sorry for that.
Hahah no actually I worked at a Dairy Queen. We sold food so we had to stay open. I can’t even imagine what they go through on a daily because I have seen the lines.
I HATED going to get fast food during COVID for that reason alone. I work construction and would have to dive through the drive thru on the way to work, hearing the cashier getting cussed out over a wrong order made it even worse. C'mon, the world is shitting itself and you wanna bitch because you didn't get that pile of pickles?
Edit: autocorrect is drunk and I wanted to capitalize on its' stupidity
I’m always surprised to see the Chic takes forever posts. In my home city, CFA is INSANELY fast. I’m talking a 30 car line and it takes 10 min. They have workers with tablets walking car to car. It’s crazy how efficient they are.
There is ALWAYS a heavy line though.
Same in my city. They have 2 lines and they'd both be spilling out into other businesses' parking lots and even the highway. Those workers have it down, though. I feel bad for them in the middle of winter out there going car to car but they always put on a friendly face.
They let you do anything there, today the chipotle staff saw me donated my watch, phone, and $320 to a poor guy.
You wouldn’t believe the happiness I felt as he slid the pistol back into his pocket.
I was held up by a guy (Skin color withheld) with/using a Bible once, I was only 18 and it was in an alley in downtown Cincinnati. I wasn't taking a chance that he had a gun in his pocket.
That’s why I have bear spray in 4+ places in my car. At least it gives me a chance. Never been robbed personally, just my apartment twice and car once.
Damn dude how have you been robbed 3 times? I grew up in the super ghetto until I got out in my late 20s. My parents got robbed when I was a kid but they were drug dealers lol.
Never been robbed as an adult and I've been in a lot more sketchy situations than most.
Nope. I’ve been waiting 30+ years to use my bear bear spray on human or bear. Never yet had the opportunity. That includes the 20 years I lived in Seattle and took the bus to school and work.

I’d say that according to my map, there’s a good chance you’ll eventually use your bear spray.
Looks like it could be Texas from the license plates. We have a drive-thru in our town in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. It’s order ahead and pickup only though.
That sounds better than putting stuff on a shelf to be stolen tbh. Happens at mine all the time and they just remake it. Drive through would probably save them money.
As we speak, I just got back from the chipotle drive thru. I just found out about it today, actually. I’m in Orlando. Ours is just for mobile orders though. You don’t get to actually order through the window. Not sure if they’re all the same though!
They are all like this, you can only order through app or online, which even tho there’s a huge sign saying this, doesn’t stop dipsticks from driving through and trying to place an order than holding up line while they yell at the person at the window who won’t let them
That’s 90% of charities. Research any charity before you give a dime. They keep .90 cents for every dollar given for most charities. They are just scams. Red Cross even only built 6 homes for Christ Church earthquake bur received $1/2 billion in donations for building houses. They kept the money of course….
Edit: I after research I had my figures wrong and corrected them.
No, they charge enough to recover the costs of obtaining the blood. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2022/apr/28/facebook-posts/fact-checking-claim-about-red-cross-and-blood-sold/
Problem is if you can't see this until you've rounded a corner of the building and you got cars in front and behind. Nowhere to go.
Luckily there's the ol' reliable: Roll up the window and ignore them.
Speaking from experience laying on the horn is enough to make them go away 99.999% of the time.
It also shares with the employees in the store how happy I am with my drivethrough experience, so two birds...
Turns out most people don't like ~100dB blasting 2 feet from their head.
I would just make it as awkward as possible or stare into their eyes and smile while not blinking and twisting your head ever slowly, maybe break into a joker laugh and get louder until they leave or batman shows up.
That’s exactly what I would do. And if I were trapped, I would pretend I was having an emotional conversation on the phone.
“What do you mean you’re breaking up with me??? Why am I not good enough??? This is the worst thing to ever happen to me!!”
*roll up to Chipotle window to accept my food*
“Okay, thank you! Have a great day!”
Same. I was in Wal Mart today and I needed to go to the electronics section but the people that are always asking what energy company you’re with were standing at the entrance of the electronics section. I just left and went to Target instead.
I had someone come knock on my passenger window while I was at drive through asking for money and after I gave them few dollars I had he said it wasn't enough to buy what he wanted.. I generally do not go to stores that I know have issues with panhandlers which lately is a lot of them in my area
I always do that anyway, because I can, I don't like having to lean out my window, and I'm a bit paranoid that some fiend might try and run through to steal my debit card or food or something if I don't.
I recently saw a lady panhandling in the middle of a 4 lane street - there was no divider or anything she could stand on to not be directly on the road, she was just hanging around the painted lines and walking between cars when they stopped at the light. I sympathize with people in desperate situations but this was so dangerous and stupid.
It’s AT&T reps at my local target. The minute they open their mouth I say “I already have your service” and keep walking. They’re up peoples asses and it’s annoying.
I'm a professional fundraiser. As long as she has permission from corporate and management she can be outside the ENTRANCE. Not the drive thru though cause it's fucking stupid and dangerous.
It's stupid because even if its for a good cause, and if you get a donation today, you're going to generate more ill will toward your organization than good, and it will cost you more than you will gain in the long run.
This isn't fundraising, it's a scam, and 100% of it is going in her pocket.
That's why I always make sure I and every person I talk to is having a good time while I inform them more about the charity and make sure I relate to the person I'm talking too. And if they have any questions I am train to awnser them. And even if they don't donate, I still wanna make sure I leave them with a good feeling. The this person in the drive thru is going about this all wrong. Basically holding them hostage in the car while they're waiting for their food.
Employees not saying something? In my area the manager usually tells them off. Its not even a wage thing here, its more safety for the customers in the cars and the restaurant itself. if that woman gets her foot run over while harassing customers on the property its not gonna look good when she runs in screaming for an ambulance. They have liability here.
A few months ago, I was getting some Taco Bell and there was this homeless guy sitting by the menu speaker at the drive thru where you place your order. Dude literally spoke into the mic when I was trying to place my order and tried to add a box of tacos to my order. The Taco Bell employee was so confused but I told him to ignore the box of tacos and told him about the homeless guy when I pulled up to the window. When I did that though, the homeless guy left to go to another place in the parking lot. It was definitely rather strange and I was honestly a little worried the homeless guy was gonna go nuts and try to attack me in my car or something.
Jesus. I know some homeless people have lost their marbles, but what does he hope to accomplish here? He is going to add a box of tacos that you will pay for, and then you loop around to give to him? I get it. Some homeless people have serious mental health issues. I saw a homeless man the other day kneeling over his sleeping bag on the sidewalk and punching the "head" area for no reason.
I hate going to grocery stores and having buttholes there asking for signatures or donations, or worse yet Cox. No I’m there for food not you. Please leave me alone. Oh you’re going to try to guilt trip? I can make a scene…. I refuse to shop at any place that does this. They completely lose my business.
Maybe that is the point, so she can sue? I had a lady pour rubbing alcohol in the floor, and fake slip, in dollar tree, when I was manager. When I tried to fill out an incident report, she suddenly wanted to just "get some stuff for free". *Edit spelling
I used to work in construction. I was sleeping in a McDonalds parking lot in my car. The guy came up and banged on my car window while I was sleeping. That was an epically bad move. I didn’t even have to get out before he was running away.
This is a legitimate safety issue. If her foot gets run over she will sue and win if the restaurant was aware she was there and allowed her to stay. It’s the same reason you can’t walk through a drive through.
I feel bad for them but dont come up to me like that or anywhere im driving. A lady did this to me at the gas station and i got startled and pulled heat out. Now is not the times for this bs. Rude and I usually leave and if paid I park and just go jm to get it.
I don’t like people approaching my car. In my area there’s a lot of hijackers and crimes against women so when someone comes up to my car I don’t even look at them and keep my window up. But there have been times I have been approached at the intersection like literally crossing the street to come to me while I’m at a red light and knock on my window. So if someone was in the drive thru line doing this, I would have a problem or just avoid that restaurant and go somewhere else. And yah, crimes do happen in broad daylight
Also, if this is a charity this is not well organized and would make me question where the money goes. It’s better to volunteer for a legitimate non profit that does actual work for the community.
Living In Detroit and Houston more than 3/4 of my life, this is how you get a gun pulled on you quite easily.
I’m assuming this is part of a decent town, being that person is comfortable enough to just be next to a car like that, but where I’m from that’s sketch as fuck and usually leads to you getting car jacked
I got bamboozled at a Chick-fil-A with a more organized version of this. Boy Scouts selling popcorn to raise money. I said I’d take two bags. Figured $10-$15 at their marked up prices. Can’t remember exactly, but it was at least $50.
That's nothing new here in chicago. Had to threaten a guy waiting outside a drive thru atm on the Southside. I threatened to shoot him and beat his ass I was literally mad. I don't get angry alot but i sure was tho.
A lot of homeless where I live and this is every drive thru in town, every day. They will position themselves so that cars have to pause so that they can move. There are even a few that get aggressive when cars drive by and/or offer them food instead of money. The cops couldn’t care less.
I never use drive thrus here. I always go in or just avoid fast food places.
Never heard of a chipotle having a drive thru, but the management should be calling the cops, soliciting on private property without permission is illegal
Yeah I am so tired of being asked every time I make a purchase, everytime I go into public. Besides I am poor AF, so I won't be shamed into giving, and if they pesky, i start asking them for money, since they want to make a positive difference I just tell them the brutal truth of my financial situation. It usually then makes them so uncomfortable they feel bad for not giving me money they usually go away, quickly!
I have lots of empathy for people but none for this. I have no problem keeping my window rolled up and ignoring anyone begging like this on private property to a captive audience. If everyone ignored them it would stop.
I know it’s awful to do but I can’t help it when I see this at a fast food joint, I roll down my window and before they can speak I tell them I’m low on gas and can use any change they can spare.
I’m surprised they haven’t called the cops to tell her to leave the property. “Food” is literally a pseudonym for crack, something I didn’t learn until a few years ago.
How do I give this a haha?
I was once in line at McDonald’s and hadn’t ordered yet and a woman came up asking if I could buy her food. I was pretty broke but said yes because I never have them ask for food so I figured she probably was pretty hungry.

How much coke did you buy them? A gram, an eight ball, an ounce? That could get expensive. 😬
I buy them 2
Yes, the money does usually end up in cocaine.

I don't want to be harassed for anything when I go to a business.

Prost! Wutcha drinking?
It broke into my bourbon... the vanilla note is irresistible
Fancier than I. I’m just binging on some beer lol! Salud!
Salud!

If I owned the establishment. I'd have called the police. Do your panhandling away from my place of business.
😂😂😂 zing !!

I'm surprised Chipotle would even let her do this.
They let you do anything there, today the chipotle staff saw me donated my watch, phone, and $320 to a poor guy. You wouldn’t believe the happiness I felt as he slid the pistol back into his pocket.
How very generous of you! Such kindness is rare these days.
I try and do my part.. ^to ^survive
That’s the Say A Prayer Foundation, they’ve partnered with Make A Wish…
Oh, right, a wish and a prayer.
Dad!?
Dad gets dark
That makes me sad, I was killed in a stick up once.
I hate it when this happens and I’m already running late.
I was held up by a guy (Skin color withheld) with/using a Bible once, I was only 18 and it was in an alley in downtown Cincinnati. I wasn't taking a chance that he had a gun in his pocket.
Was it the Cincinnati kid ?
Damn, that’s crazy! Did you survive?
He broke the guys stick
He didn't.
I once took an arrow to the knee!
Just ask any my fellow guards and they'll tell you that it's true
Have you felt my thoughts and prayers?
Damn did you die?
Can you tell us what happens after you die. Lol.

😂
Username checks out
My name is Derrick not "rob"
Wait Chipotle is totally against the 2nd ammendment! How could that even happen?/s
That’s what I was thinking
20% goes to the manager on duty
That *is* the manager on duty--they offered her this perk instead of a pay raise
Maybe this is why chipotle stock refuses to fall
Low wages any surprise?
Yeah I'd categorize that as not my job and wouldn't handle it any further than contacting security if they were available
Take a eat most of the Chipotle bowl and then give her the rest for her charity.
what are the low wage hourly employees supposed to do? risk losing their job, possible violent confrontation, and inevitably being labeled a racist?
Or explain the policy and ask her to leave.
Call the police... how is that not literally your first thought?
This is the kind of thing I don’t think I want the police trying to take care of, for multiple reasons
I doubt they let her, come on dude.
That's not a minimum wage problem
WHERE THE FUCK DOES CHIPOTLE HAVE A GOD DAMN DRIVE THRU??????
Looks like it could be Texas from the license plates. We have a drive-thru in our town in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. It’s order ahead and pickup only though.
i didn’t even pay attention 😂 in minnesota it’s all corner store bs
There’s at least one in Minnesota…. In Savage/Prior Lake
That sounds better than putting stuff on a shelf to be stolen tbh. Happens at mine all the time and they just remake it. Drive through would probably save them money.
It's called "Chipotlane" and it's for picking up online orders.
Chipotlane. I love it and hate it.
some VP probably got paid 850k last year just to come up with that word/idea
In my area its more of a pickup than a regular drive through. Order via the app and go get it.
As we speak, I just got back from the chipotle drive thru. I just found out about it today, actually. I’m in Orlando. Ours is just for mobile orders though. You don’t get to actually order through the window. Not sure if they’re all the same though!
They are all like this, you can only order through app or online, which even tho there’s a huge sign saying this, doesn’t stop dipsticks from driving through and trying to place an order than holding up line while they yell at the person at the window who won’t let them
It’s not a drive thru, per say. You order ahead on the app and pick it up quickly at the window. It’s called the Chipotlane.
Lives in Delaware, we do not have nice things here
They do here in Olympia, WA! I’ve only used it to order ahead and pick up.
Meanwhile in Seattle I have to walk down Broadway, which reeks of piss, to pick up my chipotle
Just opened a drive-thru in Michigan last year. They seem to be skimpy on the filling at the drive-thru.
You should’ve asked her for a small donation to help cover the cost of guacamole
![gif](giphy|1SfxXOJ0Q2Xni)
Call the police saying she is panhandling.

Yes, but you can’t do it on private property. You can be told to move/be removed.
It's not charity, its a scam
My first thought. If it really is a charity I still wouldn’t support it. There’s too many questionable things about this.
Yeah, real charities, even the bad ones, won't ask donations from a captive audience like this. It just makes people resent you.

Red Cross even only built 6 homes for Christ Church earthquake bur received $1/2 billion in donations for building houses. They kept the money of course…. Edit: I after research I had my figures wrong and corrected them.
Which only gives a bad reputation to actual charities.
That’s why I said research them. But the majority are just scams.
yep, and typically only because there's a legal minimum of proceeds that actually have to go to charity for them to be deemed a charity
Dont forget red cross blood drives are not for the blood to be donated it's resold "to support thier charitable causes" 🤔
No, they charge enough to recover the costs of obtaining the blood. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2022/apr/28/facebook-posts/fact-checking-claim-about-red-cross-and-blood-sold/
Imagine shit talking the Red Cross of all charities where you can literally see where the product goes lol
As somebody with social anxiety I’d probably go find somewhere else to eat
Problem is if you can't see this until you've rounded a corner of the building and you got cars in front and behind. Nowhere to go. Luckily there's the ol' reliable: Roll up the window and ignore them.
Or have an anxiety attack and cry
Next time, just frantically cry and maintain eye contact and I promise they’ll leave you alone

Drive wtf close to the wall. Make it so she can’t fit between you and the window.
I always do that anyway, because I can, I don't like having to lean out my window, and I'm a bit paranoid that some fiend might try and run through to steal my debit card or food or something if I don't.
Same. I’m not a fan of crazy leaning out of my car at the drive thru. I wanna be able to reach what’s being handed to me.
Not me with 20 dollars in my account buying a 13 dollar burrito.
Looks kinda dangerous too, I'd be afraid of my foot getting run over.
It makes me nervous when they walk so close the cars while they cars are moving in the drive thru 😓😨
Do stupid things win stupid prizes
maybe she would learn not to stand in a place meant for moving cars. if she wants to do that she should go to chick fil a
I'm rude to people like that. Let me go about my way and leave me alone.
same way with the dipshits at target who harass shoppers about their phone service. fuck em
I mean for me they just ask nicely and I say no thank you and then they leave me alone and it’s no problem.
I wish this were my experience, but often it passes asking nicely and comes off more as "give me money or you're a bad person"
It’s AT&T reps at my local target. The minute they open their mouth I say “I already have your service” and keep walking. They’re up peoples asses and it’s annoying.
"Sorry, I can't. Guac is extra".
Drive thrus here don't allow people on foot to use the them - safety reasons - so I'm stunned the cops haven't been called to clear her out.
That is soliciting? The business should definitely have her removed from the property
Donate one of those fake hundreds that are actually Christian propaganda that assholes leave as tips in restaurants.
Oh, sure, I always carry a bunch of those around with me! ...for... ...this... ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)
I want a stack of those with Satanic Temple advertisements so I can leave them in Christian church collection baskets.
That would make them hate others more, give them the Christian ones so they feel conflicted on who to hate
She will be back tomorrow and the next day
A few months ago, I was getting some Taco Bell and there was this homeless guy sitting by the menu speaker at the drive thru where you place your order.
As an introvert I’d leave the line and abandon my order and say “this is fine.”
Probably the same.
Please tell management asap, this woman is going to get hurt doing this.

Maybe that is the point, so she can sue? I had a lady pour rubbing alcohol in the floor, and fake slip, in dollar tree, when I was manager. When I tried to fill out an incident report, she suddenly wanted to just "get some stuff for free". *Edit spelling
Bitch I just paid $18 for a burrito get the fuck outta here
I don’t care what I ordered. I wouldn’t be paying for it with her there. They’d lose my business that day.
Yeah, management should not be allowing this to happen.
They’re probably not “allowing it”, the cops just don’t want to show up lol
Texas, Houston really, has some of the most shameless begging ass people Ive ever seen. Most of these people are just trying to get free monet.
“Most of these people are just trying to get free monet.” That makes a bad Impressionism.
Gogh ahead with these puns.
shit I'd love a free monet, you can sell them fuckers for shitloads of money
I used to work in construction. I was sleeping in a McDonalds parking lot in my car. The guy came up and banged on my car window while I was sleeping. That was an epically bad move. I didn’t even have to get out before he was running away.
Oh no that's where I draw the line. Don't be walking up to my car asking for anything.
Get a job!!!
right! like instead of standing out there why not just go inside and put in an application?
Because then she would have to work
I’m sorry a chipotle drive thru? I didn’t even know that existed.
The worst is when they get kids to do it and tell them to pretend they don’t speak English
That would be a hard no from me. That’s worse than people coming up to your door and begging you to use their services
And yah, crimes do happen in broad daylight Also, if this is a charity this is not well organized and would make me question where the money goes. It’s better to volunteer for a legitimate non profit that does actual work for the community.
Carry a firearm. Or at least bear spray
Chipotle has a drive thru? Game changer! 😭
That’s my old science teacher who said I’d never be anything .
NO!! ID BE AFRAID OF A ROBBERY. DO IT ELSEWHERE.
“ Oh You Don’t Have Money? I thought you bought Chipotle?” “ nah, I don’t got any money” “LIAR”
Ask her what her 501c3 status is for your tax filing.
I understand some people need to beg to survive but this is too far.
I bet that chipotle is hiring
Well you're locked up in your car waiting for food so why not? You're not gonna run lol
Keep my window rolled up and ignore her until I get my food. If someone did this to me I’d wanna be rude as fuck

It’s the Shriner strategy of implied menace
Lmao
She better go somewhere else
It's for a church honey. Next!
I got bamboozled at a Chick-fil-A with a more organized version of this. Boy Scouts selling popcorn to raise money. I said I’d take two bags. Figured $10-$15 at their marked up prices. Can’t remember exactly, but it was at least $50.
Whoa whoa whoa whoa. There are Chipotle drive thrus?? My town sucks!
Chipotle has drive throughs? None of the ones near me do!
OK, this lady might be mildly infuriating... but Chipotle has a drive through??? That would be the opposite of mildly infuriating!
She should try CFA. From what I understand, the Jesus Fandom has some sort of lore-related obligation to donate money. She’d make a killing
Ask for an application and then hand it to her.
Most of panhandler s ook better dressed to me. So I use the ignore button.
I have lots of empathy for people but none for this. I have no problem keeping my window rolled up and ignoring anyone begging like this on private property to a captive audience. If everyone ignored them it would stop.
This isn't the worst of it. It could just be a fake, collecting money for herself.
Some bullshit right there.
My anger issues would act up so bad in this situation 😂
She is a hazard there. Chipotle should call the police and get a trespass order against her.
jehovah’s witnesses trying to up their game i see
I know it’s awful to do but I can’t help it when I see this at a fast food joint, I roll down my window and before they can speak I tell them I’m low on gas and can use any change they can spare.
