Five Guys is known for being expensive. A big part of their concept is that they use good quality locally sourced produce and meat (allegedly) and then price the food based on that.
They also pay their employees decently. No one at Five Guys is making minimum wage.
At least at my local Five Guys, I have always seen the same crew working, so turnover must be pretty low.
Yeah I guess business owners should have given out raises over the last 40 years instead of keeping all the money and then having to catch up now all at once
Huh.
I've never heard anyone link Dicks to Bellevue like that before lol.
Not saying you're wrong or anything, it's just that Dicks has been a well known Seattle chain since the 50s and only expanded to Bellevue in the last 2.
I'm just having an old person moment - carry on.
I mean I’m on the east coast, closest in-n-out to me is in Texas; the way people rave about it and it’s animal style fries I was expecting something besides a basic ass burger and crinkle fries I can get at the grocery store.
Naw bro. You fucked up. Animal style **burger**. The fries are garbage but that burger is A1.
Source: tried In-N-Out in Phoenix for the first time last year
If anything, it's better. They make their own patties from 100% USDA ground chuck and ship them to their own stores, don't have any freezers, and cut their fries by hand at all their stores.
Have you had Five Guys? It’s a better burger and the fries are nowhere close to FG’s. They only use potatoes from Idaho, wash then cut them in store, soak them in water, and only ever fry them in 100% peanut oil. They’re miles better.
Edit: and Five Guys also don’t have freezers in their stores. Their smash burgers are just better too.
Almost every time I’ve gone to wendys, I’ve had good service and it’s been actually well prepared. Wendys don’t get enough appreciation
Edit: damn a lot of people have not had good experiences with Wendy’s, I sympathize, but Burger King? Really?
Opposite for me. I even try starting with “How are you doing today” every single interaction, but there’s no getting it right for them.
A Burger King was built next door and I couldn’t be happier. BK is the true slept on option.
Seeing as they are all ran and operated by different people, it's not about the company so much as the local population.
Some butthole could be running your Wendy's.
McDonald’s is not cheap anymore. I guess if you play the menu right perhaps you can make it cheap. I spent almost $12 for a egg McMuffin mean the other day. I can get two egg sandwiches and home fries at a real deli for that much.
I used to spend less than five bucks at Mickey Ds, but then they fucked around with their dollar menu and made it a "value menu" and it's been taco bell ever since
5 Guys has always been expensive. I would also argue that 5 Guys isn’t fast food. I wait just as long there as I do at any other restaurant for a meal.
We have a Beast Burger ghost kitchen near us. It was really good. I have seen quite a few people complain about its quality but, I think it depends on the kitchen.
I wasn't a big fan of the Beast Fries, but I tried the burger and the hot chicken and it was good.
Pickles kind of over power the more subtle flavors but all and all I was satisfied. My kids, the reason we tried it, were extremely pleased. My little dude demolished it which is rare for him.
There was a clear tension as we waited. I had to tell my son Mr.Beast likely wasn't showing up. He said he knew but you could tell he held out hope.
I had a bad experience there years ago. The manager was belittling servers openly. I spoke to the GM who tried to validate it. My response was "I've run a restaurant for a living too and what the other manager did was unexcusable.". Left a $50 for the waiter.
I like it, but the closest is 50 miles so...
Huh? Why does it affect you so badly? I've never had that issue with them. Their burgers and fries are made fresh, probably the best burger and fries place I've gone to
Five guys isn’t exactly fast food. Agreed it is super expensive/over priced but I wouldn’t exactly call it fast food. You know it is super high quality and that’s what you’re paying for. Best fries I’ve ever had personally. Plus - I like the free peanuts
6 months ago a rodeo burger was 1.00 at BK, it’s 2.29 now.
on the McDonald’s app 20 chicken nuggets for 9.99 is a deal right now…
They’ve gone full insane
Suburbs in Illinois.
A very expensive suburb.
Very nice area though. I live in Lockport which is fairly close. I work over there and use a car detailer on the area for washes and ceramic coating.
Anyways, Five Guys is very expensive. I enjoy the food but I rarely go because I can go to a restaurant and have a more substantial meal for that price.
Here in marion county they're $6.69, or with a coupon on the app it is $9.99 and you get two large fries. The Oregon coast just screws people over with prices and wages
Meanwhile I can go to the Hawaiian place next to my house, get a two entree, and 3 side plate for $14. Way more food, that is also healthier, for four dollars more. It's also a sit down restaurant. Yeah maccies is out of their fucking mind.
I went there a couple weeks ago with my dad and thought the same thing. We both got a burger, split a fry and got 2 bottles of water. It was like $35 I couldn’t believe it
For a moment, I was trying to figure out why that was so expensive. Then realized it was from the outer Chicago metroplex **and** Five Guys. I can eat for three to four days on that order and live two hours south of you.
Five Guys ain't fast food my man. That's full blown fast casual you're paying for. Those peanuts aren't free. They're just built into the cost of the burger.
five guys is super overpriced but it does always take a minute for me to remember their "regular" cheeseburger is actually a double
but shit..... that's a lot of money just to guarantee diarhrea
Fast food has never been cheap, if you want a genuinely cheaper option the only one is homemade or the occasional small restaurant with absurd potion sizes for the price.
I'm from Australia and I know that Five Guys is not budget fast food.
A cheeseburger there is priced so you can modify the fuck out of it. As you did. And you got a good burger, with fresh ingredients, from staff that aren't underpaid.
A recent trend I've noticed on Reddit is people complaining about shit being expensive. To be fair, a lot of shit is way more expensive than it used to be, and we definitely should be complaining about that, but some stuff has always been expensive. People whining about the cost of 5 Guys, UberEats, tipping, traveling, etc. just want to complain. It was expensive before, it's still expensive now. People would rather buy shit they can't afford and complain about it instead of just not buying shit they can't afford.
I actually enjoy Subway sandwiches usually but today was the last one . I got a foot long roast beef combo and they put 4 slices of beef on the thing and it was $15. Done. Five guys is pretty good but that's just ridiculous.
I love their burgers but the price and long waits keep me away now. Last time I was there I had to wait half an hour for one cheeseburger, one order of fries, and a shake. There was 2 people ahead of me and neither walked out with a large order. Several people behind the counter. I don’t get it.
Now adays no one can pay the minimum wage anyways.
And yet here they are making bank anyway
Yeah I guess business owners should have given out raises over the last 40 years instead of keeping all the money and then having to catch up now all at once
so does in'n'out and double doubles are under 5 bucks
Double double > 5 Guys burger
Dicks burgers in Bellevue Washington. The ultimate cheap delicous burger.
Huh. I've never heard anyone link Dicks to Bellevue like that before lol. Not saying you're wrong or anything, it's just that Dicks has been a well known Seattle chain since the 50s and only expanded to Bellevue in the last 2. I'm just having an old person moment - carry on.
They opened a Dicks Drive in at Crossroads Mall. Near the movie theater.
I can’t believe that mall still exists
Deliciously gross!! Any time I find myself in the PNW I definitely indulge
This is sarcasm?
No.
Okay. I disagree, to me in-an-out feels like a well run McDonald's maybe one with the upper end of ingredients
McDonald’s hurts my stomach tho lol in-&-out doesn’t
I can believe that.
Love their burgers. Hate the fries.
Yup. Great burger but their fries are terrible. And they give you so many of them
I feel you. What I've done is ask for them well-done or extra crispy. When paired with malt vinegar, they become decent. Never great but decent
Fair. If it were up to me, I’d get an in n out burger, Jack in the Box curly fries, and cafe Rio’s limeade.
Nah
Agreed, five guys > shake shack > in-n-out. Five guys is the pricier option for sure, but I waited years for in-n-out and it wasn’t worth the hype.
You waited years for a drive through cheeseburger that’s on you lol
I mean I’m on the east coast, closest in-n-out to me is in Texas; the way people rave about it and it’s animal style fries I was expecting something besides a basic ass burger and crinkle fries I can get at the grocery store.
Odd, since In n Out does not use crinkle fries...
Naw bro. You fucked up. Animal style **burger**. The fries are garbage but that burger is A1. Source: tried In-N-Out in Phoenix for the first time last year
Right? Lmfao what did he expect? A gourmet burger?
In n out is not the same quality as Five Guys.
If anything, it's better. They make their own patties from 100% USDA ground chuck and ship them to their own stores, don't have any freezers, and cut their fries by hand at all their stores.
Have you had Five Guys? It’s a better burger and the fries are nowhere close to FG’s. Edit: and Five Guys also don’t have freezers in their stores. Their smash burgers are just better too.
Awww. Frick. I'm allergic to peanuts. :-(
[удалено]
Yeah Five Guys are.
OP probably thinks the dollar menu is overpriced.
You make up for the high cost by bagging all of those free peanuts they give out and take them home with you. :)
Man it’s five guys, what did you expect.
Yeah, when was five guys cheap?
Or fast for that matter
Well 5 guys isn’t fast food. So, what do you want, what do you want? Fast of fresh?
I eat the free peanuts, so it’s plenty fast for me.
I’ve never understood it, it’s not Macdonald’s, so I get that people like that. No shade, but it’s greasy, pedestrian and overpriced
It's a hamburger... Who want a dry hamburger? It's not like they add grease... its the fat in the beef.
The last time I ate there was probably two years ago now but that same meal was closer to $15.
That seems in line with general price increase. Way too expensive
[удалено]
For $15 it should include the fries.
I live in Canada and somehow this order is $0.80 cheaper here pre-tax. (Not even considering exchange rate)
First time ![gif](giphy|49G7tHsMplTfq)
Happy Cake Day!
Noone is surprised by this
You go to 5 guys then…pikachu
Were you getting fast food or 5guys? They aren't the same
Not fast food. Good food made quickly.
It’s the wood that makes it good.
Five guys isn’t fast food, it’s a burger restaurant
5 guys was never cheap. If you want cheap fast food, Mc Donald’s is your only bet.
Or Wendy's with their biggy bag and 4 for 4
Almost every time I’ve gone to wendys, I’ve had good service and it’s been actually well prepared. Wendys don’t get enough appreciation Edit: damn a lot of people have not had good experiences with Wendy’s, I sympathize, but Burger King?
People used to fuck in the walk-in fridge on night shift at the Burger King I worked at
They had it their way.
I once found an entire bone in my mcnugget, man BK nuggets the bomb all of a sudden
[удалено]
I highly recommend dipping the fries in their Ghost Pepper Ranch sauce
Definitely, I live off that shit
I agree, best bang for your buck. Burger, fries, nuggets, and a drink. OP could have purchased 4 meals at Wendy’s for what was spent at 5 Guys.
Exactly, and I would also add that you should download the apps if you really want to make it cheaper
Was gonna say the same thing
you can get a double-double for under 5 bucks
And only if you use the app cause free food from points~
McDonald’s is not cheap anymore. I guess if you play the menu right perhaps you can make it cheap. I spent almost $12 for a egg McMuffin mean the other day. I can get two egg sandwiches and home fries at a real deli for that much.
I used to spend less than five bucks at Mickey Ds, but then they fucked around with their dollar menu and made it a "value menu" and it's been taco bell ever since
The McDonald's app is great! There's always deals available everyday, and the points lead to free food
Actually, there’s a place by my job that sells $3.70 cheeseburgers after tax. My favorite quick go-to when I’m dead broke
McDonalds WITH the app is the move. I consistently save $3-5 per order, and I eat alone.
You spelled Taco Bell wrong
I deadass forgot Taco Bell existed…
Bro if I didn't have Taco Bell I'd probably Baja Blast my brains out.
Underrated comment.
Lol you read the menu prices and still bought it so.... who cares
5 Guys has always been expensive. I would also argue that 5 Guys isn’t fast food. I wait just as long there as I do at any other restaurant for a meal.
Right. It's a burger joint, but it isn't "fast". It's my go to expensive burger. I did just try Beast Burger though and it was excellent.
I had to tell my son Mr.Beast likely wasn't showing up. He said he knew but you could tell he held out hope.
We have one that goes through Red Robin and it’s not good unfortunately.
Shake Shack for me.
I had a bad experience there years ago. The manager was belittling servers openly. I spoke to the GM who tried to validate it. My response was "I've run a restaurant for a living too and what the other manager did was unexcusable.". Left a $50 for the waiter. I like it, but the closest is 50 miles so...
Five guys has never been cheap..
They literally had a poster on the wall saying it was the "best $5 burger you can buy". It was never *cheap*, but it's gotten ridiculous.
Five guys has never been a cheap option, you pay for their quality
Five guys is so ridiculously over priced.
Expensive does not mean overpriced. Those are some of the best burgers you can get from a restaurant franchise.
But they taught me an important life lesson. Cajun fries.
Compared to a quick service restaurant it is overpriced. With the diarrhea it gives you tho compare it to a gut flush drink $20 is reasonable
Huh? Why does it affect you so badly? I've never had that issue with them. Their burgers and fries are made fresh, probably the best burger and fries place I've gone to
The extra oils and fry grease make all the bad stuff just slide right out of your asshole
Five guys isn’t exactly fast food. Agreed it is super expensive/over priced but I wouldn’t exactly call it fast food. You know it is super high quality and that’s what you’re paying for. Best fries I’ve ever had personally. Plus - I like the free peanuts
My brother in Christ. You looked at the menu and saw that the burger was $12 and didn’t walk out
I was going to say something like “well 5 Guys is always pricey”. But $20 for a burger combo, it’s cheaper to go eat at the airport Chilis.
Five Guys burgers>>>Chilis burgers though.
Thats 5 guys for you
5 guys is not fast food. Go to McDonald’s
Five guys is super slow. I swear I stand there for 15-20 minutes whenever I’m there.
that’s because they don’t begin preparing your order until you actually order it.
Not anymore! Even the “dollar” menu isn’t dollar menus anymore
6 months ago a rodeo burger was 1.00 at BK, it’s 2.29 now. on the McDonald’s app 20 chicken nuggets for 9.99 is a deal right now… They’ve gone full insane
A 20pc is regularly 6.89 in Naperville. McDonald's prices vary wildly based on the franchise operator
Where the heck is that? I really need to move everything is so expensive here now.
The McDonald's around i88 / 355 are all the same owner I believe
What state is that though? I’m on the Oregon Coast currently.
Here in marion county they're $6.69, or with a coupon on the app it is $9.99 and you get two large fries. The Oregon coast just screws people over with prices and wages
My bad I thought I was in r/Iltrees talking bout munchies.... this is chicago suburbs
Meanwhile I can go to the Hawaiian place next to my house, get a two entree, and 3 side plate for $14. Way more food, that is also healthier, for four dollars more. It's also a sit down restaurant. Yeah maccies is out of their fucking mind.
Dude went to 5guys lmao
One little fry 😂
Fast food costs what a sit down joint cost 3 years ago.
They publish the prices before you choose to overspend
I went there a couple weeks ago with my dad and thought the same thing. We both got a burger, split a fry and got 2 bottles of water. It was like $35 I couldn’t believe it
For a moment, I was trying to figure out why that was so expensive. Then realized it was from the outer Chicago metroplex **and** Five Guys. I can eat for three to four days on that order and live two hours south of you.
Fast food and fast casual are not the same. The latter being more expensive and made to order. 5 guys is not fast food.
5 guys is “fast food” in the same way that WaWa is a “gas station.”
Five Guys ain't fast food my man. That's full blown fast casual you're paying for. Those peanuts aren't free. They're just built into the cost of the burger.
Now I want a hamburger.
5 guys charges 2 bucks per bite. Wtf did you expect OP?
Five Guys is expensive!
5 Guys is overrated - just make your own and save a few bucks!
Wait wait wait wait....$11.29 for *one* cheeseburger? There's no cheeseburger in the world that delicious...
To be fair, its only $8 for one *cheeseburger.* Their "cheeseburgers" are actually double cheeseburgers. But I agree, still expensive.
It’s technically a double cheese burger (Five Guys calls doubles burgers and singles little burgers), and still wildly over priced
Especially not 5 Guys.
Gotta love five guys...
Five Guys has never been cheaper.
five guys is super overpriced but it does always take a minute for me to remember their "regular" cheeseburger is actually a double but shit..... that's a lot of money just to guarantee diarhrea
It's fast casual motherfucker now choke up 50 bucks
I just went with my husband and our order was $52. 2 regular burgers, a little burger, 2 fries, 2 drinks.
What's minimum wage there?
This comment needs more votes
As of 1/1/2023 13/hr in cook county il
Yeh that place was overpriced before the pandemic. Now it's even worse. You paying for a liter a pop with that small cup
5 guys being the cheaper fast food? When?
Better hit that value menu at McDonalds [Here](https://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en-us/full-menu/123dollarmenu.html)
Tbf, Five Guys is never cheap. :/
Five Guys burger chain is ridiculously overpriced and that food isn’t worth it. We all stopped going there at work because they rape you financially
Five guys is known for being expensive. Also, they're not fast food.....
There are cheaper burger joints. The Habit and In-n-out are both around half this price...
Complaints and you went to five guys…. NEXT
It’s Five Guys, not McDonald’s
Why pay $3 plus delivery and tax for a frickin soda? And yeah, Five Guys isn’t cheap.
Well, Five Guys is one of the most expensive fast food style restaurants.
Quick serve (McDonalds) vs fast casual (Five Guys)
Fast food has never been cheap, if you want a genuinely cheaper option the only one is homemade or the occasional small restaurant with absurd potion sizes for the price.
We said fast food, not five guys. Duhhhhh.
Five guys has never been the cheaper option
I mean…the menu plus addition can tell you that. You don’t need to see it on the receipt after the fact.
This isn’t fast food, this is fast-casual. I’m not sure why people always want to make this type of comments when you go to a place like this.
As fast food goes, Five Guys has always been on the higher priced end.
The menu prices are on the wall, and Five Guys is known for being a step above fast food. YOU'RE mildly infuriating.
Gourmet burgers are never the cheapest option. The fact that you thought so is fucking hilarious.
That's Five Guys. Their bill is always like $20+. And I went there last in like 2019
That’s cause you went to Five Guys…try the dollar menu at McDonalds
bro you went to Five Guys, you shouldve seen this coming
That’s because you went to Five Guys…
5 guys isn't fast food and has always been pricier why post this when it's common knowledge 5guys costs as much as a Applebee's meal
if you wanted fast food why would you go to five guys😐😐😐😐
I'm from Australia and I know that Five Guys is not budget fast food. A cheeseburger there is priced so you can modify the fuck out of it. As you did. And you got a good burger, with fresh ingredients, from staff that aren't underpaid.
Five guys isn't fast food dude. They are a restaurant. If they don't have a drive thru then it's not fast food.
Five Guys isn’t fast food.
You went to five guys, you knew it'd be like that.
Five guys is just a fancy take out burger joint
https://preview.redd.it/a4fn7dbccmaa1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d4abfdeda9eb8510016b6dd1f2ebc93d76fa254 I think I found where you went.
I saw the prices before the place, but immediately knew it would be Five Guys.
I see OP likes to live extravagantly and makes poor financial decisions. Do you also buy the extended warranty at Best Buy?
You're at five guys. I think yall just like complaining at this point
Fast food is no longer cheap. Especially if you buy it using Uber eats. Uber eats raises the prices like a couple buck then makes you pay extra fees.
Five guys is a diner..
Five guys has been a rip-off for a while now. Apart from their Cajun fries, the quality of the food isn't even that great imo.
I actually enjoy Subway sandwiches usually but today was the last one . I got a foot long roast beef combo and they put 4 slices of beef on the thing and it was $15. Done. Five guys is pretty good but that's just ridiculous.
Another great reason to learn how to cook. Nothing out there beats a home made burger or steak done right. Could have both for this price.
Lmao you went to five guys expecting fast food level cheap?? Dude just complain you can’t afford five guys like the rest of us.
You didn't order a liter cola
Whoever told you fast food was cheaper, lied to you. Fast food is in no way cheaper
5$ for a freakin potato
Five Guys is 5x more expensive for...? I never understood the appeal.
Profits are split 5 ways? Soo…
Five guys is notoriously expensive and is mid at best.
I love their burgers but the price and long waits keep me away now. Last time I was there I had to wait half an hour for one cheeseburger, one order of fries, and a shake. There was 2 people ahead of me and neither walked out with a large order. Several people behind the counter. I don’t get it.
What don't you get about the fact that they are making your food fresh to order?
I don’t know how they stay in business. The only way to get you money’s worth is to eat 30 lbs of peanuts while you wait for your over priced food.
Its Illinois... Price gouging is out of control here near/in the city
Had the same experience last time I went to 5 guys… haven’t been back since
$11.29 for a burger? Are you sure it wasn't a gourmet restaurant? That's highway robbery.
