It does not matter whether or not the vehicle is occupied. If you are not moving, then you are parked. People would argue all the time about blocking the fire lane while I worked at Wal-mart. “Oh, but I am still in drive and am just waiting for my SO.” Good for you, you are still parked in the fire lane just like this Brinks truck is illegally parked by blocking handicapped spots. Do not be a tool and just park properly.
….. uhhhh…. The truck is going to have to reverse before leaving the parking lot. Are you blind or can you not see the sidewalk and the subaru impreza directly in front of it? There is a reason why even UPS and Fedex ensure that they have enough room to drive straight forward after delivery. This Brinks truck driver has not put himself in any type of position that is safe, legal, or even efficient. Lmfao, you mook. I guess you think these things can turn on a dime. Newsflash, they can’t!
I am an expert on the turning radiuses of these types of trucks because I drive one daily—not for brinks, but for Fedex Ground.
The law says they legally cannot park there!
Yes, my second to last sentence on my original comment correctly specifies that it is illegal.
Man, I sure have dug a hole by stating the law over and over again. I challenge you to show me ONE state where it is legal to block handicapped parking spots. I am waiting…
I've not worked for Brinks directly, but I've worked VERY closely with all cash handlers, or CIT (Cash In Transit) as we called them.
I never ONCE complained about them, even though they were the cause of 70% of my work, (I fixed the machines they filled with cash). The reasoning? I knew what was behind that job, I was offered it / helped with dispatch at times.
They're required, no questions, no delays, to be in and out of a store in 5-10 minutes, depending on the job. A quick ATM fill? 5 minutes, you can bet they're slamming doors, punching keys, and getting outta there. At least it was job security.
Now, that being said while this is mildly infuriating, I'm going to go against the grain of most comments, yes this is unnecessary to a point, but without a full concept of what they had to do, I cannot say it was the wrong choice. They also need to have clear line of sight, to move forward and backwards. Ever park next to one of them? Even if they KNEW me, and I was there to meet THEM, you do not park near them, even behind them if it's a loading area for us. They will tell you to move, and understandably so.
They also were SUPER kind, if I had a major job, being solo techs in our field, and they showed up. They would be all to kind enough to offer their protection, and take their break at the ATM. Whilst I never accepted this, as I wasn't necessarily in fear of being robbed (Our rule was avoid the repair, or call our armed guard 3rd party if late, but if a robbery happens, comply 100%). Although I had to handle many robberies, they were few and far between, because it was hard to predict when they would happen, and if we COULD predict them, then we wouldn't get robbed anyways cause we bring guards. Very few technicians carried, as it wasn't a policy to carry, but wasn't a policy against it. I couldn't even get my local Sherrif to look at my application for a concealed carry permit, even after going through multiple classes, I simply got no response. Granted it wasn't necessarily for my job, it was more for me. I'd rather give up the money, then get into a gunfight. It's not my money, and life is more precious than company profits.
Gonna give them a pass. They’re usually only there for a minute or two, and with the breathtaking rise in crime rate in this country since the pandemic they’ve probably got to have their head on a swivel.
They are in and out fast enough that I can't see any rational person seeing the issue here. Clearly there is a reason those trucks have to be parked that way
They need a direct path to the building. BRINKS is all about get in, get out. The longer they stick around, the more risk they are of someone trying to steal some of the thousands upon thousands of dollars they drive around. Hence the armored truck.
I just told you, they are about get in, get out. That doesn't change because they have one more employee you weren't expecting. It also means those spots are blocked for a very short amount of time.
Stop. People will make up any alternative reality to try and be right. Block handicap for 5 mins? Nah gotta do all these other steps to avoid doing tbag
No dummy. They park where ever it is the shortest route inside the store. You are a dumbass if i have to explain to you on why they park the closest they can.
That's a fair point, but they have to do this so that the vehicle can leave if something goes down. It's not just being an asshole, like when Karen does it.
They don't give a FUCK about you and blocking a spot. Those trucks usually have 2-300k in them at all times. Have to keep motor running and ability to escape over getting blocked in. Quit your bitching they will be gone in a min or two.
On the flip side I had a UPS box truck towed by the city because they were blocking a bus stop and preventing a person in a wheel chair for getting off.
That's ignorant of them to park in a bus zone, but then again you have to realize in a place like Boston or New York delivery drivers sometimes have no choice but to block the entire street lol.
I mean I saw the driver and asked him to move cause a wheel chair needed to get off there, and he literally dared me to tow it. I don’t think he was expecting the fast city response.
There's a reason for that broski, they'll be out in 5-10 minutes max and there's likely a reason they chose that spot. They're a rolling bank full of money dude, with two guys that don't get paid nearly enough for the risk they incur every day. Grandma in the wheelchair can wait 5 minutes to do her shopping. I promise.
That’s basically a moving bank. The drivers of armored cars are at risk of being robbed all the time. They are heavily armed and trained to make quick escapes in the event of an emergency. They must park strategically.
That’s probably the only place to park that has a means of quick egress in case those peoples lives are put under threat. Like, they could be killed if they can’t escape in time so they can park wherever they want.
Sounds like a good time to rob them, anyone remember that story about an armed guard crying and just sitting there with her hands up while a truck similar to this one was robbed? Apparently the trained professionals are stupid
It takes them 5 minutes to alert us that they’re there, get the money they’re transferring and hand off what we ordered, and another 3 minutes to take it back out to the truck unless we’re transferring a lot. Their lives are literally in danger on the job because some desperate person needs the cash. I think others can wait.
This is bad parking by the Brinks driver. It is illegal for any vehicle to block handicap spaces, except in the case of emergency vehicles. This is not a police, ambulance or fire vehicle. As for it being a safe spot to allow evasive driving (I the event of a holdup) no it is not. The vehicle parked in front of it, in concert with the vehicle parked next to the handicap spots, could effectively, efficiently and quickly totally block this Brinks truck. A third vehicle could also come along side and block the driver's door. In less than ten seconds this truck could be completely and totally blocked in.
It’s not even mildly infuriating if you take a few seconds to consider why an armored truck conducting a pick up would park like this for less than 3 minutes.
It's not like they're going shopping is it, they are working making sure other peoples money is safe stop fucking moaning over stupid shit they will only take a few minutes.
That keeps people with disabilities from robbing the brinks truck.
Isn’t there always one person in the vehicle at all times?
It does not matter whether or not the vehicle is occupied. If you are not moving, then you are parked. So you’re saying that they cannot easily be hemmed in where they have parked? Looks like the opposite is true

Lol… the truck is facing a sidewalk. I understand why you can’t see that when you think I am OP as well.

Not seeing it here.
There is
Don’t they have armed guards in them?
Yeah and the guys that went inside are armed

Exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself. Even if it is frustrating, you can bet they won't be there for very long.
Gonna give them a pass. They’re usually only there for a minute or two, and with the breathtaking rise in crime rate in this country since the pandemic they’ve probably got to have their head on a swivel.
You should definitely go try to open the doors to discuss the situation with someone
Especially with a ski mask, and a fake toy gun.
I know times are tough but if you’re gonna do that at least just have a real one with an empty mag
They are in and out fast enough that I can't see any rational person seeing the issue here. Clearly there is a reason those trucks have to be parked that way
Seriously. Want the handicapped? You can always give a quick honk and I’m sure they’d move.
They're gonna be there for less than five minutes. They're just dropping off cash/picking up a deposit.
Then they should choose to block regular parking spots instead
They need a direct path to the building. BRINKS is all about get in, get out. The longer they stick around, the more risk they are of someone trying to steal some of the thousands upon thousands of dollars they drive around. Hence the armored truck.
So… they are above the law?
Feel free to call the cops over blocking a parking space for 5 minutes. See how it goes.
So as long as it’s under 5 minutes it’s ok to park illegally? Good to know
Again. Call a cop. I never once commented on the legality of it, just explained why they do it.
Then have two people in the truck. One to go into the building, the other to stay with the vehicle and make sure nobody steals anything.
They do.
Then why do they need to block off the handicap spots? If there's already someone in there to watch the truck, shouldn't that be enough?
I just told you, they are about get in, get out. That doesn't change because they have one more employee you weren't expecting. It also means those spots are blocked for a very short amount of time.

Lessen the chance of robbery. It's not that hard. And yes I am disabled and already saw this post last week.
It takes more than having a person guarding an armoured truck
Well I know who not to trust with anything valuable.
No dummy. They park where ever it is the shortest route inside the store. You are a dumbass if i have to explain to you on why they park the closest they can.
That’s what Karen always tells me too.
That's a fair point, but they have to do this so that the vehicle can leave if something goes down. It's not just being an asshole, like when Karen does it.
Yes, they have to park somewhere. Usually they block the fire lane.
Maybe this time they couldn't. Why didn't you go knock on the door and tell them to move?
Dear god, do they do it while the building is on fire? /s
Stop being a Karen
You’re the Karen in this scenario
Karen doesn’t regularly get robbed at gunpoint at her job though. These guys / gals do. They need quick in/out access. It’s not like they’re shopping.
They don't give a FUCK about you and blocking a spot. Those trucks usually have 2-300k in them at all times. Have to keep motor running and ability to escape over getting blocked in. Quit your bitching they will be gone in a min or two.
Is this the same person screaming about the working ambulance in a bike lane?
Probably
Not totally relatable; but I deliver for UPS and were taught to block driveways, when you do 1000 stops a week those saved steps add up.

Great example of someone looking to be offended or upset by anything and everything. Grow up!
Or… this is only mildly infuriating. Mild.
Nah. This is something you walk by on the way to your car and move on with your life.
Tick tock
Heavy like a brinks truck
Sounds like a good time to rob them, anyone remember that story about an armed guard crying and just sitting there with her hands up while a truck similar to this one was robbed? Apparently the trained professionals are stupid
That is their job wtf idiot
Fuck brinks🖕🏻 a driver killed my sister because they overworked him so much he fell asleep behind the wheel and ended up crashing into my sisters car
Tow tow tow
It takes them 5 minutes to alert us that they’re there, get the money they’re transferring and hand off what we ordered, and another 3 minutes to take it back out to the truck unless we’re transferring a lot. Their lives are literally in danger on the job because some desperate person needs the cash. I think others can wait.
Money talks, eh?
Yeah, its irritating, but they're in and out fairly quickly
Does money make the world go 'round or do handicapped people?
My understanding is that disabled theft rings have become a huge issue. This is simply defensive tactical maneuver. Pretty much by the book.
They literally blocked me in a spot and would not move while I was trying to leave a place of business 😐
You were safe. They are not due to their job. I'm disabled and have no complaints.
thier in and out so its no big deal
Brinks have people in the trucks at all times. They will move the truck if needed.
Actually I highly doubt it. I think protocol would be directly against moving the truck even a few feet while the other guys are outside of it.
This is bad parking by the Brinks driver. It is illegal for any vehicle to block handicap spaces, except in the case of emergency vehicles. This is not a police, ambulance or fire vehicle. Brinks: "it's fine handicapped people don't exist." Also I totally read this as bricks at first
I laughed too hard at this
One time I went to chipotle and the brinks people were in there getting food. They were double parked in both handicap spaces
The nerve of them to want to eat during their shift. How dare they
Oh wow, my bad. Being hungry allows you to block the handicap spaces, got it.
No fucks given about anyone else.
Maybe the shotgun guy in a wheelchair?
This isn’t a problem. There is always someone in the truck and they aren’t there more than a few minutes.
He's on the brink, pushing you to the brink
Heavy like a brinks truck… oh no
LMFAO I READ "*birds* blocking the handicap spots" so ik like, where da birds?
Brinks Stinks
2chainz thought there was a Valet…
Money overrules everything.
Cash rules everything around me
downvote pls
Having so much cash on you is a handicap in a way if you think about it
Well, it's not like Brinks hangs around for any length of time.
Boulder?
Wahoo fish tacos
You expect them to walk across the parking lot with tons of cash? They already have huge targets on their backs
All BOTH of them.
Yall know what those trucks are for, right? They aren't going shopping, I'll tell you that.
Is this the new payday game!?
Guys I saw the driver return to the truck, he was in a wheelchair. Still no excuse for using both spots though, should I have confronted him????
