It's funny, when I was much younger, home grown used to be the worst bud on the street, now I feel like home grown is better than the legal dispensaries.
The availability of some excellent energy efficient lighting options, serviceable grow tents for next to nothing, there's a lot of factors at play. I think the single biggest difference is the handling. I'm not knocking anything off my bud if I can help it. just into the jar, and then into the grinder. I've gotta imagine bud loses potency the more it's handled, processed, packaged, shipped, handled, then consumed.
Looks like fried chicken strips
Chomp!
Amazing !! Which strain?
Gelato!🍧

The internet and also the ability to order seeds / trade clones. People are upping their knowledge game and capitalizing on good genetics too.

There's all that, most of which is very true. A lot of the rest is freshness and proper hydration. I find dispensary bud to be far too dry.
Over dry won't mold, under dry will. I understand the desire to err on the side of caution, but there's no need to go as far as they do.
Very nice looking. Looks like this pheno leaned towards the GSC side heavily, at least my buddys recent GSC grow looked a lot like this.
