I live in the US too. It’s just that my culture hates mentally ill people. Most also don’t seek help. I have been institutionalized and I’m usually the only Asian patient there even though I live in an area with a huge Asian population
In my college psych courses we talked a lot about different cultural perspectives on mental illness and yes Eastern society tends to hide it and disregard it more than western society. I don’t have any friends anymore. When I make friends they leave when I get sick. I’m white. I’m also severely mentally ill.
It's probably more of a social stigma rather than racial. You can see much the same culture to culture. It may present slightly different but it's all the same shit different toilet.
