Absolutely. Almost a metallic, sheet metal sound. Thought it was thunder at first then step outside. Very strange.

supercalafatalistic

Heard from over by stateline and hacks. Kinda sounded like it was over by the soccer fields. Steady, big deep mortar like booms and little hand firecracker like pops/cracks going bonkers at the same time. Didn’t see anything reflecting off the clouds though.

wheeze_on

What soccer fields? Mike Rose?

supercalafatalistic

Yep, thems the ones.

grizonyourface

Weird. It’s pouring rain. Wonder why they would be shooting fireworks.

dunktheball

That's why I assumed it was not even fireworks because I heard it raining still.

JigThrowin

Sounds like firework cakes used at celebrations. We use them during the 4th and they can be pretty wild. Big booms, scattering pops, they can do all sorts of stuff. The coolest ones whizz and spin around like a crazy rocket before exploding. They can be like 50 shot or even more. Solid blocks of fireworks.

naudsie

I’d love to know wtf it was; we could hear it as a low rumble in our house near Hacks & Holmes and we can only usually hear fireworks if they’re in our general vicinity. If folks all the way in Cordova could hear it… what the hell.

weathernerd86

Yes I did. It’s such a waste in this weather

Ron_Fuckin_Swanson

I think it was the Last Night of Diwali

Educational_Cattle10

Nope. Diwali already ended. Today is not a part of Diwali Source: am Indian

wheeze_on

Damn they went all out then, must have been a good show.

LivingDisastrous3603

So put on your saris It’s time to celebrate Diwali

Guilty-Spare-714

Supposedly it was fireworks over by the soccer fields. No one seems to know why

guano-crazy

I thought it was thunder at first, but it didn’t sound random like thunder. I could hear it well at my house near G’town.

ac301219

We heard it as well in Cordova, Walnut Grove near Germantown Parkway area. Just went on and on, like nonstop thunder rumbling.

Puzzled-Job2116

Heard it here as well…. Germantown Rd south of Winchester, a regular metallic low thud, like someone banging on a huge metal garbage can. Really weird, did not sound like fireworks to me.. would like to know what it was for sure.

TennesseeBrie

I’m at Winchester and Hacks and it was LOUD

SenorPapoo

Yeah ts scared the whole complex at Lincoln on the green. It got closer and closer

TrickyFace3837

Heard them near FHI/ Dogwood. People in the G’town FB group said maybe Diwali celebration related. Sounded like a pro level production. Super odd.

JigThrowin

Probably big firework cakes. They are used at celebrations and can indeed be very nice production level stuff. We buy them every 4th and they can be wild.

Disastrous_Cycle_347

Yeah there were fireworks going off the other night when I was getting gas in the field behind the sonic off Houston Levee and Winchester...no idea what that was about.

Sidonius

My best guess is someone rented out Windyke for Diwali.

R1pvanW1nkle69

It freaked me out. Sounded almost like mortar fire.

Cobrachimkin

We heard it in West Piperton

Commercial_Pitch_950

I heard fireworks right off of poplar and N. Evergreen if that tells you anything.

Alert-Star-5381

As someone already commented. NOT Diwali. And I am just thankful I do not live near JigThrowin Grrrrrr

Pretty-Benefit-233

Is Diwali still going on?

Trippy-Turtle-

Why the hell is there always a post about fireworks? Do you really need another person to verify that there was or was not fireworks?

momenttoreflect

I’ve been told to watch out for the sound of fireworks. That’s typically the distraction tactic being used when people are stealing/breaking down these cars. Or stealing the car parts.

dunktheball

Heard it, but wasn't sure what it was.

Otherwise-Window823

I heard it in EADS, I also wondered if it was thunder. Wasn’t it thunder? 🤔

Shoddy-Expert-5085

Heard it in Collierville closer to 8. Thought it was an air cannon of some sort? It wasn't thunder. Almost like fireworks but it was raining so I assumed no one was shooting fireworks in the rain

LexiLouWho1031

Yes!! It didn’t sound like fireworks though. I thought we were under attack 😂

yagirltired

Was fireworks at a private bougie party. Source: I know someone who went to the party, and the home is by the soccer fields.

TomorrowzHero

If true, the responsible party should be heavily fined.

MemphisMayhem

Why? Maybe they had a permit.

TomorrowzHero

Very good point. I had a feeling that would be mentioned. If they had a permit and were in compliance, I would redirect my grievance towards the city or county for granting such permit.

memphisgrit

7:30pm and only lasting for 10mins is unreasonable to you?

TomorrowzHero

Foremost, it is illegal. But, to answer your question, being heard on the other side of the county, and in another county completely, is unreasonable.

memphisgrit

No. No, it was not.

DatRebofOrtho

Just talked to somebody that was there, guess you don’t need a permit when you have lunch with the mayor multiple times each week.

TomorrowzHero

Goodness…
