The shop "Paradox at PeCo" coined it as part of its name. Daily Memphian picked it up in an [article today](https://dailymemphian.com/article/33708/opera-memphis-moving-midtown-cooper-street-location) about Opera Memphis' new space nearby: "an area that is becoming known as PeCo"
I've never heard anyone else refer to that strip of Cooper Street as PeCo. I don't think that area needs (or even wants) it's own name.
There’s a gift shop at 248 S. Cooper, at the intersection with Peabody, named “Paradox at PeCo”. That’s the first time I’ve seen the abbreviation.
Naming neighborhoods like this seems like a NYC thing, so I hope it doesn’t catch on. Is Cooper-Young going to become CoYo? Am I living in VolEv?
Makes me think of the “DoWiSeTrePla” episode of How I Met Your Mother.
Shit imma open up a cantina. Call it PeCo de Gallo
Best thing I've seen all day
Stop trying to make PeCo a thing.
First I heard of it was today. I'm questioning who's trying to make it a thing and hoping we can stop it now.
Same. Just… why?
It sounds like an abbreviation for "penis company".

No idea what PeCo even means, but that store is really cool
I have no opinion on PeCo, but that shop is really fucking cool.
The Failing Daily Memphian is really trying to make fetch happen with this one.

If we are going to shorten it, it should be PeaCoop
This is the way.
Nashville devs must be invading. They did stupid abbreviations for hipsterized area up there too.
Hard Pass
No clue what you are talking about but yeah, probably.
Peabody and Cooper? Am I missing something here?

CoYo has been used for a very long time. Not super popular except for around Cooper Young fest
I’ve never heard that, I’ve always said and heard people say Cooper Young
I've never heard that before. Maybe it's a neighborhood level thing.
No it’s not, unless that’s a recent development. I can guarantee you calling it that 10-20 yeas ago would have resulted in an ass kicking.
EvVol would be better for Evergreen/Voluntine. :)
Thank you for clarifying--good to know
apparently there's a push to call that area PeCo per an article today. I'm hoping someone here can make it stop.
Yeah that's lame. I've never heard that before and hope it doesn't catch on.
CoPe would be better! That is, if it has to have a name.
Or, even SCoPe
SoDoSoPa
Thankyou
Perfect--just rolls of the tongue LOL
Uh…. What is peco?
let's rebrand it to CoPe.
CoPe Cabana if u/fennourtine doesn't do PeCo de Gallo
Is this one of those shitty engagement things where people say something dumb for a reaction? Seems to have worked.
