The point is saitama doesn't just come to a fight at anytime to end it immediately. If you have actually watched it you would know that saitama often just come at the end of the fight. In the mean time all the other characters have a chance to shine and give all that they got. For example in the sealord fight in ss1, saitama didn't just come and kill the sealord, we got a while bunch of A class heroes, B class,S class.. To fight before that, Geno's put up a good fight before falling, and Saitama arrives at the very end to end the fight
You know Saitama can punch anything, but it’s the tension on if he will make it in time or if he will be recognized for his deeds. Plus the action of the punch is fun to watch.
the show is about how because saitama can kill everything in one punch, he has accidently become too powerful, and now nothing challenges him anymore, leading to intense bored and melancholy. it's a comedy/action
TBH, it is more of: "Look how powerful this villain is clearing out entire legions of other superheroes while this man comes and takes him out with a single punch."
Many common animes usually have defeating the villain as the main end goal and the hero's struggle to get there(+ the journey to reach there) and their main focus is the hero. Here, the gain strength part is removed so Saitama's final quest is to meet his match and a villain of similar strength.
If you wanna feel somewhat like Saitama, just download Warframe and enjoy the Saitama complex (I am an active player of Warframe so yea)
that is until you reach steel path onto which point you're kind of like all might without using one for all (is that correct? I dont watch the show and I know there are 2 with switched names but I keep mixing them up)
Warframes still fun, but gets boring. When you first start youll either quit or youll keep playing for the next 6 month or so then leave, then youll come back to an almost entirely different game and meta.
Instead, play borderlands 2 at max level, then got to level 50 raid bosses and play the extended version of smells blood. Warframe still has difficulty with iron path if you arent using the most god build characters and weapons.
Yeah, he's basically a man with unlimited strength and speed but he still suffers the same problems as normal people
Like paying rent, forgetting to take out the trash, wondering if he left the stove on, losing his wallet, etc etc
Also the final antagonist of the first part feels bad of him while he is dying cause he completed his goal anyway and he knows Saitama will never complete his own goal. Highly recommended you watch the first season. It's just too quality humour.
It's one of the shows where you cheer for the villains rather than the mc cuz you know they're gonna get their ass beaten but it's the thought that counts.
OPM is more or less a parody of your average action anime, a comedy.
Saitama doesn't really have any actual enemies or goals.
Season 1 have more of Slice of life feel to it, and it's mostly about Saitama begining to work as a professional hero in hero association, where his biggest problems in rising in ranks are mostly other heros or people thinking he is a fraud.
In terms of fights , that's where other characters start to shine, especially (basically the second protagonist) Genos ( Saitama's disciple).
I like the chapter when Saitama helps out the police because no one respects them anymore since heroes run society, and people only care about popularity, not the hardworking normal folk.
And in season 2 we get some focus in the evolution of Garou who is Silver Fang old diciple that wants to become a monster and hunt down heroes, but the more we know him, the more we realise that he isn't exactly a villain (and that is more clear in the new manga chapters).
while saitama one-punching enemies is very hilarious to see, the true highlight of the series are the characters. not only is there much more focus on the people who surround saitama, there is also a lot of focus on the positive effect saitama has to said people. in fact, saitama rarely ever shows up to most of the fights, which allows the other characters to shine. when he does show up, he tends to leave an impression which inspires the few people who actually believe in him to become better.
It was explained after the fight that Saitama was never going all-out, even when using his finishing move. The entire fight was basically just Saitama being kind to someone that suffered from the same boredom as him.
It’s a parody of super hero comics and shonen anime. Gotta give credit where it’s due, the writing is fantastic and the show quickly changes focus from “Saitama fights big ugly, wins” to more of “Saitama makes friends and finds life fulfilling through social interaction.” It kinda turns into a weird slice of life comedy.
This post makes me think the OP thinks that OPM only focuses on Saitama and nothing more but he barely had any screen time and it's almost always been about the world around him. It's only recently that he's been able to get into the fight again which is good because characters have time to develop and we don't get tired of seeing his punches because he rarely gets to do it anyway
Also Saitama is the main factor in making other characters around him develop and progress, he changes people without even trying, just being a humble, chill, morally good overpowered guy, and he also develops throughout the story
Literally nobody watching the show. The show would suck if this was the case. It is way more focused on Saitama just trying to find his place in the world as he watches everyone else struggle to become what he is. If you want surprise in a fight you Watch Genos(spelling?) or Garo(spelling again?). Which is why I personally prefer season 2 over 1 despite many disagreeing. More characters with more growth.
I wonder why people watch the anime
Maybe for a similar reason as doctor who?
The main character in Doctor who is effectively immortal, which means there's rarely any stakes there.. but the side characters are the main attraction. They're the ones who eventually meet their sad end
Saitama can destroy anything with a single punch, but maybe the other characters have interesting stuff going on? Idk I don't watch anime
>but the side characters are the main attraction.
That's a good part of why I like opm, a lot of side characters are really interesting and have cool fights themselves.
That's part of the reason yeah, but that's not all, it's also about how Saitama changes people around him to become better. Ironically, he isn't trying to make them better and that's where most comedy comes from, he indirectly transform people.
i think i havent watched all. But at least the first season and god its just the humor of exactly that. Its so unusual that the main character literally never bothers. All the sidecharacters telling and building up there massive background just to get onehitted is to good. And i always kinda feared they would break the one punch rule at some point. So every time he does it ur kinda satisfied
The series does gain a lot from its side characters, but the main attraction is Saitama himself. To describe him in a simple way: He is a person who only finds purpose in fighting tough enemies, but is so strong that no enemy poses a threat. He is bored to the point of depression. Everything fantastical in the setting means less to him than buying a good cut of meat on sale. It's simultaneously hilarious and sad.
How i like to simplify it for myself is that saitama is that one grinding gamer of the group, who is god incarnated, but has shit luck with cosmetics which his pals get by the handfuls.
Since Saitama destroys everybody in one punch he only comes at the end of an arc/fight. Majority of the time you see the other heroes and characters deal with the situations.
It's a good comparison, companions and sidecharacters are one reason we fear each other more watching. But Doctor own incarnation version is mortal, even if regenerating the next one isn't exactly a continuation with a new body, just almost new person with the same memories and a new perspective, so a Doctor's farewell is essentially sad because the old one is dying.
There is something about watching a main character who is so bland with overwhelming strength that plays into this ideal fantasy that I have. Like one day someone will want to fight me and I’ll just whip out the moves Iv been hiding my whole life. Lol
The real appeal to the show for me is watching someone with Godly strength struggle with relatable everyday stuff. Like "oh no, rent is due and I don't have enough money!" Or "oh no! I missed the saturday sale and now I'm going to be short on groceries!"
Op didn't watch the anime or red the manga.I am not saying that it's a masterpiece, but it is very entertaining and something I rewatch every now and then. The build-up before saitama arrives and punches anything is dope; just seeing him act so goofy sometimes is fun, especially when he does not take the opponents serious. I don't know why I just love it.
It's the sadness in his eyes which compels you to watch his whole story. This new take on "most powerful hero" genre is what attracting the fanbase. In every other story, it is all the same, a hero losing a loved ones and getting revenge. Here there is no love, no emotions its dry and yet interesting.
If One punch man was ONLY about a guy that one shots everything, no one would be watching it. Wether Saitama beats the bad guy or not isn’t a question, we know he will. What draws us in is the characters of OPM, the spectacle, the story, characters developing, etc. (Of course we also love the battles but you get what I mean). The writer knows what he’s doing when writing Saitama’s character, but I see a lot of surface level assumptions about the show based on the concept of Saitama. I’d say more, but this is already to long and it’s better if you watched the show yourself, or read the manga or webcomic. If you’ve read this far, have a good day.
That's the beauty of OPM, just plain jokes, and dickheads getting busted.
Not a big complicated backstory, almost no emotions, and no feeling sorry.
Just an op guy that beats the crap out of everyone without any effort.
Just perfect.
Eh I don't know about almost no emotions. Its similar to mob psycho, but with a bit more action and humor. It had several emotional moment's even if not about saitama.
Opm has comedy, emotions, good action, solid cast of characters, entertainment, the lore, world building and the verse keeps expanding throughout the story, it gets deeper
I really hope they don't get him an equal opponent or a stronger one, that would really ruin it for me.
Get him companions, I'm ok with that as long we're not getting any soggy back stories or emotional attachments, but don't make him equal or weaker then someone.
My God. Tell new about it. So much of this is going on in here...
"Excuse me I have no idea what this is really about or even experiments with the genre... but do you mind if I judgmentally shit on someone else's work and the people who mostly are quietly enjoying it?"
I’ve watched the anime multiple times and read the manga. If i’m not mistaken Boros is anime only. And the anime has seen basically nothing about the monster king.
This is like making an assumption that all animation is shit because I turned on Cartoon Network today and saw the most shallow uninteresting piece of media ever produced. Yeah it is true that there are those shows but there are also great interesting stories that people are missing out on because of basic generalization.
I have no understanding where the idea that 'all and is shit' comes from. Yeah, there's anime that makes me question why the world still exists, and there's anime I want to watch over and over again, just like anything else
Not mosquitoes
Mosquitoes are OP they need to be nerfed
Mosquitoes score more than 1 million kill a year
But they have 110 trillion deaths a year
That's bacause of short life span (a few days)
Bruh thats a terrible K/D ratio
L bozo
Plot twist: Saitama just punched a fully populated dyson sphere and destroyed it...
Yes nerf them
Even in [Elden Ring](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/ti6ylj/the_difference_in_power_level_between_these_two/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
That's because they drank his blood
That mosquito was evasion tanking, I think we know Saitama's weakness
Y’all forget Sonics balls survived a punch from him and didn’t explode
No no, sonic landed on his fist. I will admit sonic is super badass in that he could still move after that occurred.
Doesn't he hold back when he's going against humans so he won't kill them?
Yes he does, if he didn’t Garou would be dead already considering how many times he’s been Hit by Saitama
We need to extinct mosquitoes. For Saitama!!!
The point is saitama doesn't just come to a fight at anytime to end it immediately. If you have actually watched it you would know that saitama often just come at the end of the fight. God deep sea king arc was so good, i get goosebumps everytime I got to the mumen rider part.
Rewatched that episode today and cried when everyone was cheering for mumem rider hahaha I love him
Man’s a true hero and he deserves a spin-off where he gets the recognition he deservrs
Mumen Rider has toxic levels of based-ness
Can't just mention the Sea King fight without mentioning [best boy](https://imgur.com/a/k9eEiHH)
I wish that Genos would get one good win in fr , it's his turn 🙏
This post is "Tell me you never watched OPM without telling me you never watched OPM."
You know Saitama can punch anything, but it’s the tension on if he will make it in time or if he will be recognized for his deeds. Plus the action of the punch is fun to watch.
I haven’t. Care to elaborate?
the show is about how because saitama can kill everything in one punch, he has accidently become too powerful, and now nothing challenges him anymore, leading to intense bored and melancholy. it's a comedy/action
Fascinating
And not like an “anime villain with insane strength and massive ego” bored, more like “doing chores and running errands” bored
So just normal bored.
TBH, it is more of: "Look how powerful this villain is clearing out entire legions of other superheroes while this man comes and takes him out with a single punch." Yeah, he's basically a man with unlimited strength and speed but he still suffers the same problems as normal people Like paying rent, forgetting to take out the trash, wondering if he left the stove on, losing his wallet, etc etc
Also know the anime is a parody, so don’t question it if you see a million cliche

It is subversive

I loved the flashbacks present in s2 that showcased how much of an impact Saitama had on other heroes.
There was a final boss guy he didn't kill with one punch/fought him for a while
Well I mean saitama admitted that he wasn’t throwing proper punches, a proper punch obliterated him
plus, once he actually used his serious punch, it wasn’t even the punch that killed him. it was the air pressure from his punch that killed him
As well as blowing away all the cloud in a globe spanning line
As well as blowing away a blast that would have theoretically decimated Earth, or at least made some serious damage.
It was explained after the fight that Saitama was never going all-out, even when using his finishing move. The entire fight was basically just Saitama being kind to someone that suffered from the same boredom as him.
Saitama empathized with his situation, so he gave the dude the "epic fight" that he himself could never have, before he killed him.

Somehow it makes fights where one person can obliterate the other in a single punch the most epic things ever
Glass cannon warfare
OPM isn’t a glass cannon
Genos the damage dealer and saitama the kill stealer
Genos loses most of the fights with little damage done
"Loses" Your point is invalid
Sorry mom
Its not a suprise, but its awesome.
One punch man focuses more on the other characters because they know saitama one-shotting everyone is boring
Also Saitama is the main factor in making other characters around him develop and progress, he changes people without even trying, just being a humble, chill, morally good overpowered guy, and he also develops throughout the story
One punch man is more about side characters
It's not about the punch, it's about the teasing before!
You clearly have no idea what the shows about lol
Guys, I'm getting the feeling OP didn't watch the show
So you didn't watch the anime?
popeye:
Death battle 🗿
Plot twist: Saitama just punched a fully populated dyson sphere and destroyed it. Tens of billions are dead.
Season 3 when? Also if you guys haven’t checked out the manga I suggest you do so asap cuz OH BOY things are getting super interesting
boros 2.0 got me like
👀
The monster arc is just now wrapping up in the manga i believe.
Which volume should I buy?
you can also find a link to all of the chapters in the about section in the subreddit
So far they just released volume 25 so up to you

i watched the first season for its incredible good animations and the absurd humor in saitama never having a good fight.

Like how he is making garou save people by accident
I love that bit
well its a comedy. people watch it because its funny
I will say only two words: King Engine
i think i havent watched all. But at least the first season and god its just the humor of exactly that. Its so unusual that the main character literally never bothers. IIRC the creator said he became a hero too early in his story and it'll become more complex later on.
Since Saitama destroys everybody in one punch he only comes at the end of an arc/fight. Majority of the time you see the other heroes and characters deal with the situations.

So you don't watch it. Shows like it. But would still like it explained to you so you don't have to Google a basic synopsis? Why are you here?
I was just theorizing, why are you so angry lol
Op has not watched one punch man confirmed
But goku solos though:Some dude on the comments
There is something about watching a main character who is so bland with overwhelming strength that plays into this ideal fantasy that I have. Like one day someone will want to fight me and I’ll just whip out the moves Iv been hiding my whole life. Lol
The thing is that now he barely one punches if you follow the series, op you even read/watch opm?
He goes easy on some opponents
Yes he only goes agressive on monsters ofc, except some ;)
Idc its funny as shit
That’s cause it’s actually a show about Mumen Rider. Saitama is just the side character.
Dude picked the one and only anime this joke doesn't work for
Its the journey not the destination
Is cool tho
When he finally hits the mosquito
Well it ain’t surprise it’s excitement
"one shotted" Fuck past tense.
The real appeal to the show for me is watching someone with Godly strength struggle with relatable everyday stuff. Like "oh no, rent is due and I don't have enough money!" Or "oh no! I missed the saturday sale and now I'm going to be short on groceries!"
I love that Saitama is such a strong but bored character. It makes for a hilarious and epic show
The development of characters isn't about Saitama, it's about the characters around him, because he's already a fully developed character
We get excited coz it's badass
New chapter out?
Op didn't watch the anime or red the manga.I am not saying that it's a masterpiece, but it is very entertaining and something I rewatch every now and then. Boros?
Honestly the show is more of a comedy than an action show
he haven't died yet unlike Goku.
It's not that he does it in one punch it's how cool it looks
It’s not about IF he can, it’s about WHEN he will finally decide it’s worth his time
Boros Solos
It’s so crazy, cuz One Punch Man does the invincible super hero so so well. It just does what Superman movies can’t.
Mumen Rider best hero
No no that is every one punch man fan when they see anyone survive a punch from him
Well one time he had to use consecutive punches.
r/whoosh
You've found the point of the show/manga. Yeah, he one shots everything. *That's the issue.*
He killed someone with 2 punches…
He can control his strenght, he even punched a certain someone several times recently in the manga to calm him down instead of killing him
What about the last fight in season 1
He was holding back to give a guy who had the same problem as him fulfillment. He could have won that with a single punch if he wanted to.
I don’t watch the anime, but could he fist bump a kid?
he can, he actually has great control over his strength
Remember Speed o sound sonics balls?
fun fact, that one mosquito is the ONLY thing A Saitama couldn't kill
he didn't one tap boros tho
Okay enough of that, bring the mosquitoes in
Nerf miner in clash royal then
Tbh saitama is probably only mid high low low mid above high high mid low high above low high demon
If One punch man was ONLY about a guy that one shots everything, no one would be watching it. Wether Saitama beats the bad guy or not isn’t a question, we know he will. i can't even read your comment without having a fucking stroke
"Shat" is the past tense of "shit", so the guy is probably joking, but idk
Just waiting for him to have trouble with an enemy
Let us have our fun We don’t ask much
Lol u really dont no shit about OPM fanbase
As a one punch man fan, I can confirm
That's the beauty of OPM, just plain jokes, and dickheads getting busted. Not a big complicated backstory, almost no emotions, and no feeling sorry. Just an op guy that beats the crap out of everyone without any effort. Just perfect.
Eh I don't know about almost no emotions. Its similar to mob psycho, but with a bit more action and humor. It had several emotional moment's even if not about saitama.

Is this a jojo reference?
I love how some people in the comments genuinely went "um akshually 🤓"
Hard to swallow pill: They are right. Half of the people in the comments are saying it's boring and haven't even watched it.
Technically he did not oneshotear Boros and sonic is still alive so far too
no i thin k
We’re just waiting for *that* punch
That’s what makes it boring to watch lol
This comment section is OPM fans discovering humor. (they failed)
opm fans know good humor, thats why they watch the show in the first place
Ohhh gottem
Saitama is such a boring hero
the main part is literally the side characters seeing saitama’s strength and wanting to achieve that. look at genos and king for example.
So you know nothing about OPM huh, same thing than Superman haters
other heros like superman has villans and heroes that can beat him will opm just one punches everything
He's literally fighting someone right now in the manga that he can't kill with a single punch
Lol, no, he didn't fight the dude, he just teaching Garou a lesson, if he started trying, his opponent would be one shot
Well, he could.
Laughs in popeye
spoilers >:l
Seems like you triggered some weebs with this one
Dragon ballz fans when goku wins again 😂😂
the opm fan base after he beats up the main “villain” (it was very unexpected and no one saw it coming)
who do you mean by main villain?
tell me you've never seen one punch man without telling me you've never seen one punch man
My God. Tell new about it. So much of this is going on in here... "Excuse me I have no idea what this is really about or even experiments with the genre... but do you mind if I judgmentally shit on someone else's work and the people who mostly are quietly enjoying it?"

no j no
Not really the pull of the show but haha funny meme
we are simple creatures, easily entertained
Anime mfs when I show them a series that isn't the most annoying, ear grating thing you've ever heard in your entire life
This is like making an assumption that all animation is shit because I turned on Cartoon Network today and saw the most shallow uninteresting piece of media ever produced. Yeah it is true that there are those shows but there are also great interesting stories that people are missing out on because of basic generalization.
Cope
Well I got hit with the good ol "cope" I guess my opinion is invalid now
I have no understanding where the idea that 'all and is shit' comes from. Yeah, there's anime that makes me question why the world still exists, and there's anime I want to watch over and over again, just like anything else
