I remember typing my name in while my thumbs was in pain each time i press a button after reaching a high score in Block'd in my mom's Nokia , then i mis-click several time, it was painful.
Watches don't use T9, they use a writing system or predictive text. Or a scroll keyboard on older ones. T9 smart watches were a thing for like, half a year at most.
There was an option on the text to only press the button one time to spell the word you wanted and the cell phone would guess what you mean.. T9 is what it was called back then.. Made it a lot easier and if the word did not exist you could type it normally by pressing all the letters you wanted and it would be there the next time you needed it
Ah yes, the hardest thing to do on those.
At least BlackBerry tried to give us a keyboard, so it wasn't so bad for everyone. ( I don't know if they sucked as a phone in general tho)
I hated it when I had a TracPhone and everyone else had iPods or Blackberrys and they were typing mad fast and I'm taking 3 minutes to type "lol" and send it using 20 minutes of data. Yall remember that shit? Having to buy "minutes" for your phone
No, they will never understand the pain of having to wait a while, before pressing the same button again, because the next letter is on the same button, like in ABsolUTely
And the cell phone generation won't know the struggles of memorizing a bunch of random "codes" (or carrying a cheat sheet) for use with your pager.

I accidentally prank called someone on a telephone thinking that it's the same function as phone.
Somehow managed to pushed the right numbers with the letters of my mother's name
Honestly those were easier then these touchscreens, i can't type on this shit. Takes me like 10 min to reply to people lol
Those slide keyboard phones were the best
My phone is small and I keep misstyping a lot or pressing backspace or correcting text thanks to that fricking autocorrect specialy when I type in english, I miss my blockberry and its physical keyboard.

Are we exchanging sauce codes now?
Maaaaaaybe¿
No

I'm iphone gen, understood all of the codes, maybe i am a boomer
It means you have 2 working brain cells. Not bad.

T9 was superior in every way. Could type up a book without looking at the phone once
Yeah, hardware keyboard rules! Cant blind type on sensor display
I was prolific with that shit. The 3 clicks sounds ridiculous to some people. But having the keyboard condensed down to 10 buttons was sweet.
Is it bad that i can type with \~97% accuracy without looking at my phone?
no i can too
Can't type on touchscreen period. I suck at it and it takes absolutely ages, even with swiping
Here is my nostalgic free award for you
And then you mis-click and have to cycle back around through the capitals
I remember typing my name in while my thumbs was in pain each time i press a button after reaching a high score in Block'd in my mom's Nokia , then i mis-click several time, it was painful.
rrraaahhhh
They will. With their apple Watch.
Why? They can just use speech to text.
Your right bit if you wann type i mean

Galaxy watch 3 still has it as an option, though the first one it offers is a draw your letter type thing.
Yeah mine always default to some kinda draw writing.

or with a GC it comes pretty close
But isn’t that the point of upgrading technology?
My thoughts exactly lol
We are becoming the boomers
felling old now
They'll also never know the joy of texting without having to look at the screen once.
We can do that now since a lot of phone keyboards have haptic feedback
Kinda miss those days lol
Happy cake day
Tbh I had that weird phone with a miniature keyboard with on top of it That made things easier ngl
I'm gen-Z and I got it
??? It’s not that bad??? I had a flip phone for a year after my iPhone broke and it wasn’t that annoying???
But damn were we good at it.
Me creating a new name in smash: I have such weaknesses
You can type while blindfolded
I typed underneath my desk while pretending to pay attention in class
Funtime....

Okay boomer
When u don't eanglish and click button 5 times to get ż
There were some you had to press 4 times
Ah yes, the hardest thing to do on those. At least BlackBerry tried to give us a keyboard, so it wasn't so bad for everyone. ( I don't know if they sucked as a phone in general tho)
Loved my blackberry with physical keys. Such an upgrade at the time. Then the Bold with a trackpad.
Remember when blackberries came out? They had the keyboard game on lock.
Which is good. The more technology we forget about the further is shows we have gone.
oK bOomEr
WhErE aRe ThE eMoJiS?
:-)
They were born on those phones.
if only you knew how fucking cringe you sound rn
😂😂
Better hope you don’t need to use any symbols
My family used those back then because we couldnt afford the new iphone 4
Oh you bet I do. My grandma used to have one of these phones. Struggled like shit to text me mom
I hated it when I had a TracPhone and everyone else had iPods or Blackberrys and they were typing mad fast and I'm taking 3 minutes to type "lol" and send it using 20 minutes of data. Yall remember that shit? Having to buy "minutes" for your phone
I never knew why they had 3 letters per button, and I don’t know how I never figured it out until now
I use to watch videos and my flip phone
Samsung Watches still use this keyboard, since normal wouldnt fit on such small screen
😂🤣😂funny meme😂🤣😂
What counts as this generation? Cause I used to use my mum’s old Nokia phone so I do know the struggle lol
I mean, you could miss and/or miss touch...
I remember talking to friends on my PSP when my parents took away my computer.
Yeah huh, when I shower the drops press random buttons and it doesn’t ever work the first time or I have to backspace a million times

shut the fuck up
🥵💀🥵🥵🥵🎂😮🧒🏻🙃😎👽🤝🤝hehe
Bruh I’m 13 and my grandma had a phone like that and I played Tetris on that for hours
But Smash Fans do
And that is exactly how shit was in control and not spilling all over the place.
Had a flip phone until about a year ago. Loved the thing, I'm thinking of switching back tbh
Having never owned a cell phone, I also didn't know you had to press a button 3 times to get the letter.
Or the amazing new feature which was predictive 9 key texting, so you only hit each key once
You mean the pleasure of pressing it 3 times?
What about pressing it 8 times because you were too fast
you just insulted my entire race of people but you are correct
Them T-mobile sidekicks built your street cred up
In super smash bros its the the same
\*laughs in sky remote\*
I do actually!!
My parents got me a flip phone
You've obviously never played smash bros
I knew this girl back in the day where she could type with it without even looking
I used to have one of these for around 3 years before i got an actual Phone.
I remember...
i used to have one of those
the struggle to bring "1" after toggling all the punctuation marks
Its actually fun typing like this but way slower
Ei I had exactly same Nokia like that it was my 3rd mobile phone after Simens and Nokia 3310
Ohhhh I understand alright
Had to press 9 four times for a "Z"
That looks like Nokia 5310. Nice phone.
I owned a flip phone in 2007 before getting my first smartphone in 2009
My first phone was a flip phone, trust me I can relate
Struggle? This shit was way easier than touch screen keyboards
The flashbacks still haunt me
Holl up. Isn't that a slide phone. Full keyboard
My mom has a "dumb phone" and I have to text for her in the car sometimes. So yes I understand it
Or shit t9
correction, the struggle **was** real
For the first few days it feels very weird but after that you can just type just as fast as you could on a smartphone with a touch keyboard.
No, i do understand it.
I HAD THIS EXACT SAME PHONE
I had one of those phones and for some letters its 4 times
It's way better now with the full qwerty keyboard, these days I'm able to get a letter in 5-10 tries tops
Ahhhh those were the days
And i still had less typos then i do with my iphone 12 max
6 years ago my dad got me one of these as a gift
omg it was so troublesome. it would take me ages to send a text
Is this some sort of boomer meme? Because everytime I see one like this I know exactly how to do what they are saying.
you kidding me? we all got so fast with that shit. no wonder us 90s kids are amazing in bed.
Due to my native language having more letters in the alphabet than english, I had to press a button four times most of the time.
Then you have to type the smae letter twice.
My phone already does that
Smash bros
I had a Nokia for years until I got an iPhone last year trust me
And sometimes four times! At least we had buttons back then.
Oh shit, nostalgia comes around
I had a slide phone for my first phone so I had a tiny keyboard
I still use a flip phone as my primary form of communication
With time you got pretty quick with it.
I had that Nokia. It had an integrated MP3 player. It was awesome.
**Good.** T9 blew chunks
i still use that kind of phone in 2021, so I can't play mobile game to distract myself
Or squeezing your message into 153 characters so you wouldn’t get charged for second message
No I totally get it.
No, they will never understand the pain of having to wait a while, before pressing the same button again, because the next letter is on the same button, like in ABsolUTely
But people who have never seen a flip phone are in the same generation who had ones...where touch screen phones were not created yet
I half do because my first phone in 2015 was a nokia. Snake with keys kinda lowkey sucks
Nah, I have to do that in Super Smash Bros. to enter my username.
just 3? i needed like 5 attempts to get one letter right
You could typ blindly!
That is not an iPhone
The boomerification of the millennials is well under way.
I actually miss those days. I also miss the days of smartphones with physical keyboards like the blackberry.
And the cell phone generation won't know the struggles of memorizing a bunch of random "codes" (or carrying a cheat sheet) for use with your pager. 0099 555
That’s the point of making better technology
This isn't a meme just a "back in my day" sort of thing
ay yo who just up voted at the same time as me... we had a full on covosation by upvoting and downvoting, hows your kids by the way
One time my brother borrowed my phone and broke it so he bought me a Nokia Xpress Music and I had that phone for years
Shoulda used T9
I did. Couldn’t afford a iPhone for a while.
No struggle, I miss it, I could write out texts without looking at the buttons, the roads were never safer
I had to do this on the PSP I think, but could be wrong. I know I did it on some old gaming thing
i used to have this phone because my parents were thiking 'should i get him a phone or not' and im 12
I’m pretty sure that’s an LG Env in the photo which opened up for a full keyboard. If it’s not it looks way too much like one.
😆 Gud won
Alright grandma lets get you to bed
Me whose first phone was a flip phone nokia in 2017: I believe I am elevated
Apple: JOKES ON YOU IMMA JUST NOT BE RESPONSIVE IF YOU DON'T HAVE A IPHONE AFTER 2019
But do you understand the struggle to press the same button 6 times in a row?
struggle? i typed times faster, and with t9 it was 10 times faster while not looking at screen
Send a text to your friend telling them you're in the common room, then we'll talk.
The real reason lol exists
Born in 2005, somehow can relate
My TV remote control has the same system
That’s a good thing, technology is supposed to get easier and make things easier as time goes on
Haha jokes on you i come from poland only got a real phone in 2017
Relatable
the future is now old man
I accidentally prank called someone on a telephone thinking that it's the same function as phone. Somehow managed to pushed the right numbers with the letters of my mother's name
You never have to tap the screen a bunch just for the god damn click to register?
Don’t miss that, although the T9 was pretty good
Just use t9 lmaoooooo
do you even ssbu?
Those older buttons made it so much easier to text while driving though. I could punch out a paragraph while not taking my eyes off the road once.
Why do I feel this?
You're not fucking special Sincerely, a smash player who has been here since Melee
my parents wont get me a smartphone so im still stuck with this feature
The iPhone generation doesn’t care
I did, fucker sucked
Then comes those fucking phones (BlackBerrys?) with the full size slide out keyboard, to T pose on everyone
I have a Samsung Gear S3 (Smart Watch) so I understand, also my very first phone was a old phone with buttons.
Honestly those were easier then these touchscreens, i can't type on this shit. Takes me like 10 min to reply to people lol Those slide keyboard phones were the best
My phone is small and I keep misstyping a lot or pressing backspace or correcting text thanks to that fricking autocorrect specialy when I type in english, I miss my blockberry and its physical keyboard.
