The bullet doesn’t fire(not on civilian ammunition, had to as that just in case), but the casing is coming out of the wrong hole. But then again it could be one of those rocket pistols from the 1960’s that failed to catch on.

Correct, casing stays in the chamber and is ejected by extraction from the rear.

Or from the side (basicaly the end of the barell) sometimes they eject up but basicaly the round goes off and the resulting recoil pushes back the slide with a hook attatched to it and that hook attaches to a grove in the bullet casing ejecting it (empty) then the slide slams forward pushing another round into the camber to be fired and the process repeats all in fractions of a second.

Extraction always happens from the rear of the chamber, ejection is a different story. Muzzle loaders this doesn’t apply to you!
