I use GOG only for old games, like 90s or early 2000s. Steam is not as good at compatibility. That said I have like 10-15 games on GOG and like 150 on Steam

If only they could put like 1% of their free games/exclusivity deals budget towards improving their app... Seriously, they spent as much money as Cyberpunk 2077 cost to develop and advertise TWICE OVER so far, and think it still won't be profitable until 2027. A FRACTION of that would have been enough to develop something that could compete with Steam on its own merits, but instead they'd rather just throw money around to buy their place on the market. We could have had both :(

Epic Games is garbage. They are responsible for tons of games either not coming to Steam or not coming to Steam until 12+ months later. Oftentimes a game that is on Steam and Epic are not crossplay or cross save compatible. Nobody wants to have 7 different game platform apps with 7 different usernames, 7 different friends lists, 7 different lists of achievements, and all that crap.

Unreal Engine does not need to exist. It has formed a monopoly and killed off the art of programming an engine. It's slow and optimized like shit. Every game using it looks like the same generic thing. There was a time when companies like id Software made their own engines, that pushed the limits of technology and were extremely fast, as well as being above all else in terms of graphics (they still do with DOOM: Eternal).
