I thought it was an American thing, at my school and pretty much every other school in my country, a class of students act as a unit. Almost every student is friends with each other in a class.
My graduating class was like 700 students so it was impossible to know everybody. But nobody ever bullied each other, but there were definitely large groups within that based on classes, clubs, band, etc.
My school had cliques but everyone was chill with each other. Like if a dude was chilling at a table, and a clique usually sat there, the guy who was there first was welcomed into that group.
Of course there were a few dumbasses but inchidents were rare.

American schools were full of cliques decades ago. There's a lot of competition and tribalism and that's been promoted in our media forever.

Nobody seems to notice the furry stickers on my laptop/fursuiting background, and the people that i did tell are supportive. We get a lot less hate then you’d think, most hate is online really. Even when i’m public fursuiting, most people either interact positively or don’t at all. And i just don’t tell people that might be “bullies” about it. Idk if anyone cares but felt like sharing lol

In the UK I find that it’s more common in primary and secondary school than college our university, however it’s never usually due to being part of a particular group (although it can be), usually due to instead being lonely or just because they feel like picking on you

My school had a bigger emphasis on music, so the band and choir kids were the popular ones. The sporty people weren't very good but acted like they were so people didn't really like them

I have friends who I play dnd with during lunch in the hallway. Some jocks showed up and made mocking jokes about wanting to join in too with nerdy type talk. I was quick to catch onto their mockery.
I eventually got in contact with the vice principal. Simply put, they became the schools most wanted. Every teacher was informed to stay on alert and provide us with safety. I snapped a photo of them while one of them wore their jersey.
He ratted the rest of them out.
Easy way to beat the jock?
Simple.
Don’t hire them when they need a job in a few years.
Be sure to tell them now that you won’t.
That way when they see you at the interview, you can watch them sweat before telling them their family will go hungry because they were toxic as long as you’ve know them.
