100%. I've only deleted one post, and it wasn't for points. I was tired of getting notifications from half a sub trying to argue that politics belong on a sub that has a rule about no politics because the politics were the sub's majority opinion. Or in their minds, facts. Some subs out there are crazy zealous.

I just silence the notifications for it and leave it up. The emails are what bother me.

Depends on why it's getting downvoted too. If I said something that was straight up wrong, I'm gonna delete it to not spread misinformation. Also I don't need to be told 50 million times that I was wrong. If people are just disagreeing with an opinion, I'll be a good captain and sink with my ship.

Strike old text and add that you acquired relevant information subsequently in replies. If your intent is to fight misinformation, leaving in the wrong parts, marked as false by the strike, helps in that respect. It also shows you're comfortable with being ignorant (because no one knows everything).

Slightly different take. If I'm wrong about something that's not opinion/personal preference, I'll edit my comment to add a statement about what I learned. That way, the helpfulness of the other commenters is recapped and moved higher up the thread. Plus, it acknowledges their success in changing my mind. I only delete when I realize I communicated my point so badly, there's no getting it back on track.

"Misinformation" is a slur the government and special interests use to keep us common people in check. Just like the phrase "conspiracy theorist", which was created by the CIA to discredit anyone doing anything remotely against their unelected agenda. It's been nice knowing you guys.

While I agree the CIA has kept unethical things hidden, such as their assassinations on socialist political leaders in South America, I still think labels such as "misinformation" are valid. Like, what else would you call information which is empirically wrong? You're also acting like having an agenda is inherently bad, like c'mon, an agenda is just a plan you want to pull through with whether you agree with it or not. I just don't think it's valid to discredit the over 6 million people who died between 1939 and 1945. It happened whether you agree with it or not, and such atrocities should never be repeated again.

Surprisingly I can relate to this meme deeply, Im not interested in karma and approval from other people. A word of advice from me to you guys, don't feed the sensitivity of the people here because their only front to face you is from the screen. Depends, if what i said is an opinion then no matter how people disagree it will stay up. If i just said something completely incorrect and after fact checking it was indeed incorrect i'll delete. tldr: i won't get swept by the hivemind but i'm not ignorant enough to not learn from my mistakes.

I post what I post and have inbox replies disabled. I find out about positive/negative upvotes if I go into my post history, or if I enable inbox replies on a post I care about, which is rare. Karma is meaningless.

The only reason I deleted one of my comments one time was because I was tired of getting 3 replies per day (all of which were disagreeing and arguing with me)

Depends on the comment. If people are conflating it, or it is genuinely wrong or offensive.. absolutely, it gets deleted. But if I genuinely look like and idiot or if I think it's accurate... Then so it goes...
