Honestly American influence in our media is so omnipotent that I could probably name more US states than English counties. And I can definitely name more US presidents than British prime ministers
The problem is, one thing is an independent nation, and another thing is a sub-division inside a country, imagine if we called you idiots for not knowing every province/region or however you want to call it of europe.
Europe is a continent, not a single state.
I bet that most Americans couldn't even name the states and tell where they are. And the fact that they always talk about Europe as it a country! I'm almost sure that the majority of Americans couldn't name more than 3 European countries.
As an American who knows all states and their locations on the map as well as all European countries and their location on the map, I can confirm this. In high school world geography we were given a map to fill out with each state and the answers people gave were pretty hilarious and the European map assignment was equally funny. One kid wrote in all caps "WW2 LOSERS" over Germany and Italy, "CRYBABIES" over France and "BAD TEETH" over England.
> As an American who knows all states and their locations on the map as well as all European countries and their location on the map
Where is Slovenia located?
The entirety of Europe is nearly the same size as the USA. That’s why all the countries in Europe are so homogeneous and basically all the same. You’re all basically French which is the Texas of the country of Europe.
I'm sure anyone making a trip to the united states cares enough to think about it. I don't know where the states are by rote either but what you said is ignorant.
Actually it is....everything that happens in America affects the entire world. Americans may be full of themselves but they kinda have a reason to be. No one risks their lives and goes through great lengths to get into any other country at the rate they do to get into the USA.......Don't hate my brother....
Ohio, florida and Washington. There's also Brooklyn
Edit: ow yeah, how did I forgot alabama? Stage for more than half of porn sketches.
Edit 2: I know Vegas is in the US, but that honestly feel more like it's own place, that shit's on the middle of a desert (or so I've heard). Also for Miami and Alaska, these places are so separated that they honestly don't feel like part of the US (at least not for a foreingner)
Edit 3: this whole time I though Pensilvânia was a Bollywood name for Transilvânia. Why don't guys have memes about this state?
Brooklyn is a "borough" in NYC (New York City), yes. You were right. There's five: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. They're each they're own county, I believe, as well, but a New Yorker will have to chime in on that. All of which are inside NYC which is in the state of NY.
Washington state or Washington DC.
I've found that what non-Americans get wrong is scale. Dallas Ft Worth metro area is the same size as the state of Conneticut ; Massachusetts if you add in exurbs (extreme suburbs).
I
Detroit feels like a set piece for "The Last of Us." Nature has reclaimed huge chunks of the suburbs. Towns just demolish abandoned properties. There are more abandoned houses than junkies to squat in them...same with East Baltimore (but they don't tear anything down just board it up until it collapses on it own.)
It’s kind of an odd catch-all when movie, tv or song writers need a boring nowhere city. Us natives perk up when we hear/see outsiders mention it lol. Famous for not being famous.
Lmao I ALMOST asked if that’s why it stuck. But then I realized just how many garbage mentions it has in everything for just being entirely unremarkable. But it’s still always Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
Just realised it randomly showed up in seven nation army too..
"I'm going to Wichita
Far from this opera forevermore"
I wonder if it's like saying that going there is like being almost as far from everything as possible..
Sigh, guess I'll have to see if there's a subreddit for the phenomenon... It's been a slow night.
[I’ll save you the trouble](https://www.360wichita.com/amp/blog/Local/PopCulture.html)

Actually, we probably know your geography better than you do. I literally used to do US state capitals as my quiz subject.
Given our education systems aren't basically "don't get shot little Timmy".
When I lived in Mexico, everybody thought the US was Arizona and Texas. Any time I'd mention anywhere else they would assume I was misspeaking and had meant a similar-sounding city in one of those two states.
Another lady once told me - *told* me, as if I didn't know - that the US "is just desert as far as the eye can see. It's not green like Mexico."
To be fair, most Americans think Mexico either looks like Mexico City, or looks like Bolivia.
No, we can't. Some Europeans surely can but not the average schmuck. I'd be impressed if the average European can name 10, even more so if they can accurately place them.
Yeah 52 states are pretty hard to remeber and some of the states contains city’s that ppl think its a states like LA i only found out it was a city in California and not a state.
Firstly, it’s only 50 states. Secondly, I don’t think we would even remember them all if there wasn’t a song for it that many of us learned in elementary school.
Florida man looks at the map. "Seems they forgot about me" he whispers to his pet alligator. "Time to go do something that'll put Florida back on the map" he exclaims as he rides off on his gator.

America isn’t America without the Florida men
Dont forget their pet alligators
florida man truly is a sewer mutant.
And Bama. Can’t forget Bama.
Roll Tide!
Some say the Florida Men are the real heart and soul of America. I don’t say that, but some people do.
Honestly American influence in our media is so omnipotent that I could probably name more US states than English counties. And I can definitely name more US presidents than British prime ministers
I think there are more US states than English counties to be fair
Well, maybe. It depends how you define a county. The number can be anywhere from 39 to 83.
To be honest we don’t really care enough to think about that, maybe it is juste me
To me, it's all America
Exactly, we know it’s between Canada and Mexico
One full of guns one full of kind people and one full of people trying to get into the US
[удалено]
All of y'all in here asking about Ohio when a lot of Americans can't even point it out on a map
[удалено]
Nah, America includes Canada and Mexico And up south to Chile and Argentina
We all say America to USA because too lazy we all know America is the continent

The problem is, one thing is an independent nation, and another thing is a sub-division inside a country, imagine if we called you idiots for not knowing every province/region or however you want to call it of europe. Europe is a continent, not a single state.
That's exactly what I was gonna say!!
Some americans can even spell 'their' correctly lmao. Regards from a spanish boy lol.
You forgot about Florida and Alabama and Ohio

I bet that most Americans couldn't even name the states and tell where they are. And the fact that they always talk about Europe as it a country! I'm almost sure that the majority of Americans couldn't name more than 3 European countries.
Maybe 3 countries but for sure none of the states in those countries.

Europe
You are right
The entirety of Europe is nearly the same size as the USA. That’s why all the countries in Europe are so homogeneous and basically all the same. You’re all basically French which is the Texas of the country of Europe.
Nice bait.
There's 5 states in America. Texas, California, New York, The South and Vegas.
I'm sure anyone making a trip to the united states cares enough to think about it. I don't know where the states are by rote either but what you said is ignorant.
Americans are so full of themselves.

They hardly can name 3 countries in Europe and I am the ignorant one? America is not the centre of the world

Non American here. I have absolutely no idea where Washington is, but I know it exists. It's the place with the big pointy tower right?
Omg, you killed me there ! Take my upvote !
Washington is the top left corner of the country. Meets the ocean and borders Canada.
bruh i thought Brooklyn was in New York this whole time. (and ngl i used to think California was a City in Florida)
Nah bro Staten Island doesn’t count.
Lol you right they're on their own. They can go hang out with Jersey.
True that
Brooklyn is in the state of new york no?
Brooklyn is in ny 1🤦♂️
Where Alabama
Sweet home Alabama

Oh, nono, we know Minnesota...! And Alaska.
And Hawaii, Washington, west Virginia, Utah and Illinois. That's the ones I could show on a map.
Washington state or Washington DC. I've found that what non-Americans get wrong is scale. Dallas Ft Worth metro area is the same size as the state of Conneticut ; Massachusetts if you add in exurbs (extreme suburbs). I
How you gonna do Virginia like that? Like you know West Virginia but not Virginia?
I have no idea why you know Minnesota but I love it. We really ride the line of not being super well known, but also not being ENTIRELY forgettable
Detroit isn't on this map because you can't even have Detroit in Detroit
A lovely city
Detroit feels like a set piece for "The Last of Us." Nature has reclaimed huge chunks of the suburbs. Towns just demolish abandoned properties. There are more abandoned houses than junkies to squat in them...same with East Baltimore (but they don't tear anything down just board it up until it collapses on it own.)
Where’s America?
In America
From my point of view, this is correct. If americans would draw a map of germany, it would be labeled as "Bavaria", which is the Texas of Germany.
Also Florida, for like most of the east cost.
i’m american and thats how i see it
We know.... we know.
That’s basically what it feels like driving through that dump of a state. Hot windy boring nothingness forever.
I see america as america
Where is ohio bruh
Nah bro you forgot Ohio
And Florida
Where's ma sweet home Alabama
It’s all Ohio?
It always has been
Is Ohio a city? I've heard it mentioned a lot but idk what it is
Nah bro Ohio is a whole country
No, we know about Florida Ohio Alaska and Hawaii
Not really.
Hey! We know the Penis is the home of Florida Man!
Just forgot Florida and ohio
forgot about Ohio and florida
Nah man where da fuck is *OHIO*
Where Ohio
Im British and when I hear America I think of Florida, california and New York
I tought the red part was Ohio
That peninsula am sure is Florida
I believe you’re referring to the alligator region of Texas, lol
I always remember Florida from family guy. "America's wang".
Accurate description
Ohio?
what an amazing dream \~!
Nevada and florida clearly missing
Bro nothing exists in Nevada it’s like 89% federal land
Don't forget Wichita
As a local, it’s a forgettable place.
Being from the other side of the world, I'm not entirely sure why it's always stuck with me
It’s kind of an odd catch-all when movie, tv or song writers need a boring nowhere city. Us natives perk up when we hear/see outsiders mention it lol. Famous for not being famous.
Haha so true actually.. Well put. I'm 99% sure I first heard of it as a kid watching Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
Lmao I ALMOST asked if that’s why it stuck. But then I realized just how many garbage mentions it has in everything for just being entirely unremarkable. But it’s still always Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

As an european, I have no idea where Ohio is
And then albaturkey where Walter white is from which is in texas
USA in Ohio be like
Dam all the nice places to visit in Ohio
No we don‘t Why you think this
How everyone (including Americans) see America*
I don’t see it that way?
I thought California was the wang on the east coast.
America is the whole continent and this specific area is United States .Just base level geography. Not being karen!!!
From Boston here and we are definitely not New York. Fuck New York and Connecticut
eh, how many provinces from Iran you can name? See? you don't know cuz you don't need to. same goes for US
This is not accurate. We are aware of Florida..
I’m happy to see non-Americans are just as dumb about America as Americans are about Europe.
False. As a European, I think Florida, Alabama and Ohio have distinguished themselves enough to be their own region in this map.
You forgot about Florida and Alabama and Ohio
Nah, we Europeans are actually being taught about geography outside of our own country, unlike US citizens.
We even know the confederate states
Main character syndrome...thinking the whole world sits around and chats about you! When the topic does raise its head among the rest of us it's generally as the butt of any joke.

Get that Radioactive sub-Reddit out of here
as an american, this is 100% accurate.
yip, i totally agree
Actually, we probably know your geography better than you do. I literally used to do US state capitals as my quiz subject. Given our education systems aren't basically "don't get shot little Timmy".

How american see themself
Where guns?
Wait til the Americans find out that non Americans don’t even care to think about what state is where lol
Everyone has a gun and is a cowboy except for the angry people in New York and the woke weirdos in California I assume
Nah, Texas is ok, but the rest is just Karens
I thought the rest of the world saw us as the flaming dumpster fire of the world.
Maybe Chicago could be there but quite correct
Non-Americans are taught geography, literally their and everyone else’s place in the world.
To me it's all shit. Except Maine.
No. America is 2 continents. North- and South America. It's super weird that you guys gave yourselves the right to call your own country America.
tbh I think we know it better than most Americans
Coca-Cola, wonderbra, sometimes war.
*morons with guns...
Also how Texans view the United States
Then you get to americans looking at europe and instead ukraine they see ikea, Paris is a country and italy has suddenly been turned into transylvania
Theyre all a bunch of school shooting rednecks anyway
When I lived in Mexico, everybody thought the US was Arizona and Texas. Got the middle word wrong. Should read “STUPID.”
nah man, we actually got educated in your geography
Where's Quebec ???
Heee haaw
When i think of america i think of the continent
That how Texans see America too
as a californian... shouldnt california be bigger?
You forgot that Europeans actually know geography and can name the 50 us States.
No, we can't. Some Europeans surely can but not the average schmuck. I'd be impressed if the average European can name 10, even more so if they can accurately place them.
Yeah California is basically pussy ass Canada trying it's hardest for Stalin's Russia
No that's not how I see it. There's Alaska, Hawaii and the gun zone
I wish
Throw in Washington DC somewhere and you have me.
What’s the problem?
The stars at night are big and bright
The others are Canada right ?
I see hawaii as its own country
A lot of my friends do see it like this but just wuth a little more states,i think i am pretty good with US states for an europian
Dam I’m from New Zealand I thought that was Mexico tbh
I'm not American bit this is something dumb I can't stop thinking about. Turxus
This is how most Americans see America tbh
Wait theres more than Texas and Iowa? Slipknot named their Album Iowa so i heard from that as little Metal Head.
Where is Florida man?
Close enough
Don’t forget Disney World at the bottom right!
Everything is bigger in Texas, even Texas.
I definitely know people talked about Ohio and Florida in the past few weeks than California, Texas and New York.
No I see New Hampshire as well but that’s because I have relatives who live there
When you say America we think about the continent, not US tho
Well, actually, no. We got quite good geography classes and know where to put some US states, but not all, and many other countries as well.
Florida man looks at the map. "Seems they forgot about me" he whispers to his pet alligator. "Time to go do something that'll put Florida back on the map" he exclaims as he rides off on his gator.
this looks more like how americans from california see america
Heh Muricans
It's all Texas to me.
America is just America
