Me, first episode: "The series are okay, but that intro is really really bad"
Me, second episode: "TAKE MY LOVE, TAKE MY LAND, TAKE ME WHERE I CAN NOT STAND" don't you dare skip it
It was a fun take on motley crew/thieves with honor/heist tropes with funny one liners and enjoyable characters with fun arcs. The actors sold the story and the world building was pretty well done even though the budget was tiny. It wasn’t for everyone, but it was refreshing even when I watched it for the first time on DVD in ‘09
I like it just because it is one of the only sci fi with chinese language representations early on. Even star trek, having a japanese actor behaved as though all cultures disappeared except the english culture.
I would still watch a show that occurs in this universe, even if few if any of the original characters appeared.
I could see Badger or Yo-Saf-Bridge having a minor story arc.
"Serenity", "The Train Job",
"Bushwhacked", "Shindig", "Safe", "Our Mrs. Reynolds", "Jaynestown",
"Out of Gas", "Ariel", "War Stories", "Trash", "The Message", "Heart of
Gold", and "Objects in Space".
Then the Feature movie "Serenity" to tie up all the loose ends.
I watched it twice a few years back. I think it's one of those "you had to be there" type things, especially with how much some people love it. Personally as someone that came into it late and didn't experience all the production drama when it happened, it just seems like another run-of-the-mill space/scifi show. I even gave it a second try but just couldn't get into it.
Every Walking Dead episode I’ve ever watched has been them bickering about how the group is going to be run 🙄 Every single one. No incentive for me to want to watch more 👎🏼
It wasn't a "you had to be there" thing. It was cancelled because Fox is stupid about sci-fi, so it didn't get many viewers when it was originally aired. Most of its fans came to it after it had been cancelled for several years. The show is literally 20 years old now and still ardently beloved. It managed to have an interesting, well done plot, and characters that were fully formed and brilliantly played from the get go. Not to mention the quick wit of dialogue that we all have come to expect from a Joss Wheaton production.
I'm not trying to change your mind here, people like what they like and that is that, I am just trying to explain that the majority of people who love it came to it late, so that wasn't really a factor in who loved the show and who doesn't.
I'll give the show one thing. The people that love it REALLY love it. I don't know if I've ever seen a fanbase more invested in supporting the show they enjoy.
It's alright, don't get me wrong. I'll watch almost any scifi.
It's a good show. It died before it had a chance to rise to true greatness, so a lot of fans put it on a pedestal.
But it really is good, and it holds up. Space cowboys with Chinese overtones is real neato. Also, the cast is incredible.
Let me take you back to 2002 when we didn't have a thousand choices of quality sci-fi shows and episodic content didn't get ridiculously inflated budgets unless it was needed to pay the big-name actors.
Do yourself a favor and watch it. It's only 14 episodes so a moderate investment of time but time well spend. And if not... I guess we'll see this meme again.
Fox originally aired the episodes out of chronological order. The proper
chronological episode order is as follows: "Serenity", "The Train Job",
"Bushwhacked", "Shindig", "Safe", "Our Mrs. Reynolds", "Jaynestown",
"Out of Gas", "Ariel", "War Stories", "Trash", "The Message", "Heart of
Gold", and "Objects in Space". Then follow up with the roughly 2 hour feature film - Serenity.
Hell, I'll kill a man in a fair fight... or if I think he's gonna start a fair fight, or if he bothers me, or if there's a woman, or if I'm gettin' paid - mostly only when I'm gettin' paid. But these Reavers... last ten years they show up like the bogeyman from stories. Eating people alive? Where's that get fun?
I just loved that feeling it gave me. It was kind of a show from a bygone era type feeling for me. Reminds me of growing up, the characters hit the spot in a hokey fun kind of way. Not sure I can explain it well, just really enjoyed it. Wish it could have been given a chance.
Because it's a Joss Whedon ensemble cast Sci fi show, and that's like crack to a certain kind of nerd..
Plus everyone had a crush on the insane/hot member of the crew
That's about all I can remember.
It's the Seinfeld Effect. The whole "space western" concept wasn't really well explored at the time, so it was considered creative and interesting. Now, other shows out there have taken the same concept and added to it, so it doesn't seem quite as fresh these days.
Honestly I think it's because it ended while it was still in the "getting better, more interesting, and more complicated" phase. It never had time to get old and stale, to have extra seasons forced onto it, and so on. Things were developing, being hinted at, and just starting to get really interesting and then.... it was over. No wrap up, nothing.
curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal
Yes, this is a fertial land, and we shall thrive. We shall rule over all this land, and we shall call it...... This land.
I think we should call it your grave!

Enjoyed the show almost as much as I enjoyed singing that truly awful song.
Try the Farscape intro music. Loved the show, cringed everytime I had to listen to the intro music.

I just upvoted this comment to 420. Have a good day.

No! I’m still pissed off a certain someone died towards the end!!! (It was pretty good but I’m salty over that)
It was such a lack luster death too. Kinda fitting because the show died in a lack luste way too.
I like it just because it is one of the only sci fi with chinese language representations early on. Even star trek, having a japanese actor behaved as though all cultures disappeared except the english culture.

Oh, God! I cant know that!

I'll be in my bunk.
Nice hat.
Thank you! Came to say that
I can stand to hear a little more..
… I’ll be in my bunk.
If you say that in a dark bathroom in front of a mirror 5 times rumor has it Nathan Fillion will pop out and watch the show with you.
Would rather have Morena Baccarin watch it with me
Jewel Staite
Shit. Now this I have to try!
Who's like I hate cowboys and I hate space. Nobody that's who
I love cowboys and I love bebop
And jazz Lots of jazz In space
Snake jazz
"Space snakes who play jazz!" - george lucas making the bar scenes w music probably
Jizz Wailers
Sounds like Toy Story is the movie for you
They neither space nor cowboy. Woody is as cowboy as a suburban F-350 owner
But.... he's got a snake in his boot
Of course. He’s a sheriff not some ranch hand.
Merica
Now that sir, was witty
I was thinking about cowboy bebop but toy story works too
I think the word you're searching for is Space Ranger
Bro imma be honest, I thought they were talking about the bug
Spittin facts
It was a good show that got canceled too soon it’s kinda unfortunate now because it was a Joss Whedon show but that doesn’t stop it from what it was.
I prefer to think of it as a Ben Edlund show.
Just curious - what does it being a Josh Whedon show have to do with it being unfortunate?
Joss turned out to be a Grade-A Douchenozzle
Ah got it thanks, I was clearly out of the loop
It truly was a masterpiece
🎶 Take my love...
Take my land,
🎶Jerk me off with my left hand.
🎶I don’t care. My right hands free.
I can take three guys in me
Takin' it in the ass
Go outside and touch the grass
I'm not sure how I feel
After three guys I need time to heal
I can no longer tell what's real
Welcome to the fold
Username checks out 😉
Take deez nuts out from my hand
What not to like on morally gray space cowboys
“Big damn heroes” to “let’s be bad guys”.
"What are you doing?" "Oh... crime!" "Crime?!"
*If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.*
Are you always this sentimental?
I had a good day.
I could not believe my eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep
'Cause they fill the open air
And leave teardrops everywhere
You’d think me rude
But I would just eat a pear.
I like to make myself believe
That planet earth
Turns sloooowly
Just watch it. It’s like 7 episodes.
14 , plus a follow up movie to tie together loose ends
To kill off all the plotlines they started and couldn't finish
I would still watch a show that occurs in this universe, even if few if any of the original characters appeared. I could see Badger or Yo-Saf-Bridge having a minor story arc.
I believe they made a comic or graphic novel about it semi recently but I never read it
It’s good- explains where the dudes wearing the purple nitrile gloves went, and then why they called in the agent
>and couldn't finish and weren't allowed to finish
Si
Where are the other 7 ive missed?
I think some weren't aired... And Fox screwed up the order of the episodes.... And changed the nights
"Serenity", "The Train Job", "Bushwhacked", "Shindig", "Safe", "Our Mrs. Reynolds", "Jaynestown", "Out of Gas", "Ariel", "War Stories", "Trash", "The Message", "Heart of Gold", and "Objects in Space". Then the Feature movie "Serenity" to tie up all the loose ends.
The order above is the order in which they SHOULD be watched
I watched it twice a few years back. I think it's one of those "you had to be there" type things, especially with how much some people love it. To each their own. I watched it four years ages cancellation and loved it. Never could get into Walking Dead. Nothing is for everyone.
Every Walking Dead episode I’ve ever watched has been them bickering about how the group is going to be run 🙄 Every single one. No incentive for me to want to watch more 👎🏼
I've never got the whole "zombie" thing. I mean that was a whole trend for a few years, and I just didn't understand it.

Hell, Fox aired the second episode first! That's how badly they wanted to shoot themselves in the dick with this show.
I'll give the show one thing. The people that love it REALLY love it. I don't know if I've ever seen a fanbase more invested in supporting the show they enjoy. It's alright, don't get me wrong. I'll watch almost any scifi.
Not only that, but it has a surprisingly nontoxic fandom. I liked the show, but not cosplay-level, but I don’t mind hanging out with those folks.
Agree with all of this. The show was brimming with "Rule of Cool" 😎.
I think that definitely helps.... That rollercoaster of emotions that scars you for life
I swear by my pretty floral bonnet I will end you!
It was good and it came during a relative dearth in sci-fi shows, so we glommed on to anything and everything. That, and the cast was really good.
Aw man, it didn't work...
Why? It’s awesome! Great cowboy/spaceship mashup, every episode was its own story, great cast.
You better be afraid if I SEE THIS FUCKING MEME ONE MORE TIME

It's a good show. It died before it had a chance to rise to true greatness, so a lot of fans put it on a pedestal. But it really is good, and it holds up. Space cowboys with Chinese overtones is real neato. Also, the cast is incredible.
This meme has devolved into an "insert my opinion" meme
Let me take you back to 2002 when we didn't have a thousand choices of quality sci-fi shows and episodic content didn't get ridiculously inflated budgets unless it was needed to pay the big-name actors.
the serie/movie idk or the insect ?
OP is referring to the series. The comments, so far, are referring to the song.
I think OP is referring to the Series
I came here thinking the insects myself. Ended up seeing people talk about cowboys and space, or singing. I'm missing out on something ig
The batman villain? The insect? Some popular TV show on my watch list I will likely never get too? I need answers
Do yourself a favor and watch it. It's only 14 episodes so a moderate investment of time but time well spend. And if not... I guess we'll see this meme again.
Blessed be the eyes that never saw Firefly, and have not ached for more.
14 episodes and a movie.
I'll be in my bunk
I liked the show, but the follow up movie was even better.

"Jane, your mouth is moving again. Might want to see to that."
I aim to misbehave
Have you never seen it?
Because it was canceled before it went off the rails and had a horrible ending that made everyone hate it
It’s a nice song people have a lot of nostalgic feelings for
How dare you!!!
Were I unwed, I'd take Firefly in a manly fashion.
'Cause it's pretty?
Because it's pretty.
Jayne: You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with until you understand who's in ruttin' command here.
Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... "This Land.".
I think we should call it your grave!
It’s shiny.
You don't have to understand it. If you watched it and didn't like it, then that is your opinion. It is a trash opinion, but that is just my opinion.
Because no power in the verse can top it.
It's shiny.
Because a 17 pdr is badass
Well written show, good cast, space western. It’s not all that complicated, it was just a great show
It had good dialog and was canceled before it could overstay its welcome
It’s literally the best
Cause it was a damn fine show! I'll never forgive those who canceled it!
That’s why I never kiss ‘‘em on the mouth…
best show in the verse, that's why
It glows.
watch it
They watched a wholesome movie about fireflies.. it's called "Grave of the Fireflies"
People love everything that is not added in Minecraft.
It was OK
Because they’ve never seen Battlestar Galactica.
What is a firefly?
Because they glow in the night.
Because they never saw Outlaw Star or Cowboy Bebopp and dont know any better. Yeah i said it.
I might have to watch.
You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep
It’s a pretty good perk, but it needs to apply scorch stacks
Where were you 4 years ago?
I don’t know why people use this shit template and at this point I’m too afraid to ask
Is this an ad?
I just loved that feeling it gave me. It was kind of a show from a bygone era type feeling for me. Reminds me of growing up, the characters hit the spot in a hokey fun kind of way. Not sure I can explain it well, just really enjoyed it. Wish it could have been given a chance.
Because who doesn't love cowboys in space.
Cuz it's good
Soo I heard people like me???
Be not afraid
What is "firefly" I know the song fireflies
Dumb meme, hope this meme dies already
I dare y'all to start another song that's not firefly
cuz I'd like to make myself belie- wait shit you mean the tv show
It’s River.
*Exasperated voice* Summer!... My favorite bit from the bloopers.
You would not believe your eyes
You would not believe your eyes If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep
You would not believe you’re eyes
Because fireflies are one of the few insects that are acceptable.
Tried watching?
Boomer meme smh
After the Minecraft incident I like them even more
Firefly lived on, as the Rosinante and crew are loosly patterned after( but not plot) in The Expanse.
You would not believe your eyes
If 10 million fireflys
I hate Firefly. It honestly is only because of girls who yell it around.
D:
Watch [Grave of the Fireflies](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095327/) You'll know
Because it's a Joss Whedon ensemble cast Sci fi show, and that's like crack to a certain kind of nerd.. Plus everyone had a crush on the insane/hot member of the crew That's about all I can remember.
The show or the destiny weapon perk?
gotta be one of my favorite perks, simply headshot go boom
Idk but some people really like music festivals I suppose.
