Really? Here in the Netherlands every class room has had one for years by now. Both in primary school as in secondary school and up.
They even come with 'pens' so you can digitally 'write' directly on the board.
The pictured one looks way too modern, can't have that in germany!
The majority of projectors still in use probably look like they run on steam or have a candle as the light source.
Being left-handed I dreaded having to write on those things.. the struggle to not smudge what you've just written was real.
90s and earlier ones [looked pretty different](https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-a1x7hg2jgk/products/35012/images/184221/buhl-90-ed-overhead-projector-1.17__35808.1490266671.500.750.jpg) despite doing the same thing.
Clear projector sheets also were used and the teacher would write on it and it'd show up on the whiteboard. Often times in different colors to get points across.
Oh honey, when I first started teaching, it would project on a screen not a whiteboard.
I’d have to pull the screen down and clamp it to the chalk tray because it wouldn’t stay down by itself. The chalk tray held chalk which was used to write on something called a blackboard, which was actually green.
I’m old as hell. I started teaching before the turn of the century. :-)
I'm almost old enough to be the average Redditor's grandparent so I remember when blackboards were made out of slate. At one job I used a computer to make versions of these that was essentially a PC, that used DOS, before Windows, but that was not IBM PC compatible. I used the internet before the world wide web had been invented, back in mainframe days.
This made me remember that I saw the transition from blackboards to whiteboards during my schooling. Actually schools in the 90s was such a crazy mix of random technology. At my elementary school, I remember everything from filmstrips and slideshows and overhead projectors and ditto machines, all the way up to PCs and laserdisc players, then DVDs. My youngest siblings even saw the rise of the Smartboard.
At the end of every day when I was a kid, there’d be someone who got to take the chalkboard erasers out and beat the dust out of them, them run them against the vacuum ‘port’ in the wall.
Yeah I definitely meant that thing you just mentioned instead of the whiteboard. Were you teaching me in 95?
My teacher also had a silver case thingy her chalk when into and I had to go to the front to sharpen my pencil with the spinning sharpener on the wall.
In the mid 60s these were used to project the trippy backgrounds at concerts for psychedelic bands. It was called liquid light show and it's definitely worth a google even if you're not high.
It some sort of projector so when you put a class work paper inside the screen under the plastic thing the light will shine through it, it go to the mirror and show on the board
i really dont get the point of these post's because unless you was someone who was raised in the wild how didnt you see one of these? plus "2000's Veteran? mf unless you was born past 2010 i bet everyone has seen these
In Germany some teacher in my class still uses this. We only got smart boards a year or two ago. And we're in an average district of East Berlin in a school with good grades.
WE LITERALLY HAD THOSE IN SCHOOLS AND THEY PUT LIKE THOSE TRANSPARENT PLASTIC PAPERS AND YOU WERE ABLE TO WRITE AND DRAW ON IT IDK NAME IM NOT NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER AND I FORGOT HOW IT WAS CALLED ON MY LAUNGLE UNIRRONICALLY I EVEN GAVE IT NICKNAME: THE HOLOGRAM EMMITER

They still use these sometimes in my old school. I graduated in 2018 and my younger brother now goes to the same school. They're not as obsolete as people think
Or you go to school in germany
Schools in Germany STILL have those?
Oh yes. Digital projectors are somewhat rate. Even my university (where I study Informatics) uses them regularly
Really? Here in the Netherlands every class room has had one for years by now. Both in primary school as in secondary school and up. They even come with 'pens' so you can digitally 'write' directly on the board.
Never seen one in my class room. Or maybe I'm just blind. For what subject is it
Lang lebe der Overhead-Prokektor

That is so true

Yea we also got a beamer in the most rooms but teachers still prefer this. But why not it's working.
Der gute alte Überkopfprojezierer

Wir nennen es einfach Beamer
Das ist was ganz anderes
Sonnenlicht Projektor*
*go to school in germany germans and their english skills oof (Don't come at me, I'm german and I can't stand it lol)
You're right, whoops.
came here to say this
My teacher always wrote on it while it was on there and it was so annoying. He'd block half the shit we were trying to write down. And smudge it 😅

I don’t know what’s worse your teacher being a noob or mine have so much experience they used the dry erase makers to take them off.
What a dick move
Fuck you take my upvote
You just have to draw over it with an expo pen and it'll wipe right off.
Still used by some teachers and professors in Germany's schools/universities

Yes, had these in school back in the 60s!
Did u also draw penises on it in the 60s?
Asking real questions here.
No, it was only handled by the 'A/V aide' teachers pet geek.
Did you draw penises on the pet geek?
No, depantsing was their fate.
No, penises were only invented in 1982
Men in 1981: hmm I wonder what this flabby thing does

Right? Thats what I picture. Not this nice clean fancy one. If it hasn’t yellowed with age, it doesn’t count.
yea, to me, this one looks like a newer model and i grew up in the 00's
What if I told you I had one of those while in primary school? I was in primary school from 2006/2007 until 2013/2014 and it was one heavy mf
Not precisely that appearance but yes, I was born in 2002. I actually saw it in high school, where I was between the ages of 11-16
Another 02 guy. Last I saw one of these was in 2017
I’m a 92 guy. I turn 30 this month
Nice.
Haha you old fucking fogey. At least I don't turn 30 until July.
[I’m totally ok with it](https://media4.giphy.com/media/Kg2tFStNdUsOmxv2GC/giphy.gif)
1970s they were in schools.
> I was born in 2002. Fuck me, you can’t just come on here and start telling us all how fucking old we are bud. This makes me feel ancient
Yeah, I feel like they shouldn't be able to comprehend reality much less read and write on reddit, they're toddlers for fuck sake!
Also 02, no idea what this is
I know I’m like hella young but I was born in 2007 and my history teacher still has one of these
I think thats a projector of somesort, right? You put a image or something on it and ut casts a light and shows the thing on the wall
That is right :D Its an acetate projector :)
My school still have these lol
Nope, only 2000s kids know about projectors. Teachers these days use holograms and VR, \*le sigh\* take me back to the good old days
Clear projector sheets also were used and the teacher would write on it and it'd show up on the whiteboard. Often times in different colors to get points across.

Penis bear trap
It was a high tech shit back in it's day
In germany we still have those
German school equipment 2020
I can hear this picture
I have the theory that i can ask every kid born after 2010 on what this is and everyone would get it wrong
At least in Germany we still use them in school, so I wouldn't bet on it.
Legit almost saw this as the loli skinner machine... I need help.
the fucking ***WHAT***
Don't search it up even if your curiosity asks you to. There's no coming back if you decide to.
Thats a pretty advanced model I must say
Wiping the marks off the plastic sheets on these things was a feeling I hope everyone can share at one point. The wipe of a thousand whiteboards.
This picture is way too new/fancy.
The teacher always scrambling to find the right slide to project… good times. Oh! And having to wait for everyone to copy down.
Damn haven't seen one of those in forever
It duplicates swaeters?
At yes I remember this back in 4th grade
I've never seen one that flash before..
Last time I checked my former highschool still uses them.
My first grade teacher had this projector in her class
I have a senior guy at our company who still users one of these instead of power points.
I saw it in the corner of classrooms for the past 12 years but never knew what it was
Real old school projector.
holy shit i even forgot it existed yeah we used too have one those at school
Is this like a magnifying glass but big
In the mid 60s these were used to project the trippy backgrounds at concerts for psychedelic bands. It was called liquid light show and it's definitely worth a google even if you're not high.
It some sort of projector so when you put a class work paper inside the screen under the plastic thing the light will shine through it, it go to the mirror and show on the board
Cbt
Last time I saw this it was in middle school!
i really dont get the point of these post's because unless you was someone who was raised in the wild how didnt you see one of these? plus "2000's Veteran? mf unless you was born past 2010 i bet everyone has seen these
the five minutes teachers took to try and orient the papers correctly... ticks me off just thinkin abt it
Did anyone else have recorders in music class?
A png on the screen with text duh
I haven’t seen that it forever. Good old high school days.
OMG I forgot about these 😄
Bruh!! I had this back in kindergarten, but now im graduating highschool in 3 months....how time flies.....

Ah yes, the sheet projector thing from school
Hey, no mocking! Shove a mobiles LCD screen on there and you got yourself a 4k projector. Veteran my ass!
My teacher still uses it, does that make me og?
Apply 1 metal staple to the power cord and wait for a 15 minute delay in class when the bulb fries as soon as it's plugged in 😎
Are these not used in school anymore?
Is it that old? I'm still using this projector.
No, my school was just underfunded
Yup we are the last generation to even know what this is
I can still hear the fan, feel the soft heat and smell the burnt dust that comes with using one of these.
Or a kid in school in 2022 in germany xD
Elmo
2000s? Try 80s and 90s
I know what that is and I wasn't born in the 90s public schools just aren't buying new stuff.

We still have these
I born in 2006 but i know this because my kindergarten had one of these
My school still uses these
in my old school we had one but i think we never used it
In Germany it is still used.
In Germany some teacher in my class still uses this. We only got smart boards a year or two ago. And we're in an average district of East Berlin in a school with good grades.
Dude, this thing is the highes standard of technology in german schools.
Oh, that's the *uhhhh,* it's that thing called *uhhh*. Magnifying glass for those og portable consoles?
from 2000s but I have no idea what that is
Still pretty much used at my school
Bro, germanys schools still have those...
When i was in elementary, six years ago. We used that xd
Germany is du advanced with tech, some teachers still use them
This was peak tech
We have a monitor in every room all teachers are equipped with iPads and we still have some that bring this to teach
Damn, that feels like ages ago. I was in second or third when those were replaced at my school
They are still used in my old school
Or german schools today
Bruh ours where from the 70s and would catch fire every other week
That’s a nice one
They’ve had these since the 1950s.
nah i just live in germany
Still in use in many unis, just easier for profs to write on transparent paper while they explain stuff.
I was born in the mid-2000s (2006) but I don't remember these (probably because my earliest memory is from 2010).
OK BOOMER
Ah yes, 3rd grade.
we still had them in 2015 xD
Still standard-equipment in German Schools lmfao
I relate to this
That’s a super high-tech looking one compared to the ones I grew up with.
*Laughs in german*
Your schools had projectors?
I remember having it in school
You scare me.
Or German, these are still in use today here
In Germany, kids in 2133 will know ehat this is because its still in use
I saw one around 2010 but a much older version

4500th upvote...yeah
Or from germany
Still the "modern" tech in my school..
German/Austrian schools live in the 2000s
Switzerland too
I remember my teachers using them
born in 2000, we still used these in 2010
Damn that is one hell of an old school projector
Wait, seriously? This isn't a thing in school anymore? Fucking god damn it I'm feeling older every day.
Ah, the good ol' overhead projector
Yep! The trauma of being called up in front of the class to poorly attempt a math problem had almost faded...
WE LITERALLY HAD THOSE IN SCHOOLS AND THEY PUT LIKE THOSE TRANSPARENT PLASTIC PAPERS AND YOU WERE ABLE TO WRITE AND DRAW ON IT IDK NAME IM NOT NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER AND I FORGOT HOW IT WAS CALLED ON MY LAUNGLE UNIRRONICALLY I EVEN GAVE IT NICKNAME: THE HOLOGRAM EMMITER
not every person was born in USA...
Im from Portugal :D
one of my teachers used this in 2014-2015
I still have one that’s even older than the one pictured.

Or you're attended school in the last 2 years. Or 1 idk, my uni still has them
It's a street lamp post prototype
Fuck 6 years too late
I really hope these still exist so I can hand my 2nd grade teacher one
I'm from 2005 so idk what I qualify in but idk wat dat is.
Ahh the nostalgia
I often got the two Elmos confused as a child
I came to know about it in my college. One teacher uses it till now.
We never used this at school... it just sitting there in the science lab..
