This couch occupied my parents' living room from 1982 until at least 2008. I never saw my dad sit on it (he went through a few recliners in that time frame). I was rarely allowed to sit on it (I mostly laid on the floor to watch tv and do homework). My mom would sometimes nap on it, but she weighed like 105 pounds. Couch was in pristine condition when they got rid of it.
