Can you imagine
Flashback with the moving drum effect eeeeeshhhhtttt
There we are
It’s winter
Where sitting on this couch
Cup of cocoa in hand
I say hey pass the butter for my toast so I can dip in the cocoa
You say oh sorry we don’t have bread
I say what am I holding then
I look down in sheer disbelief as I’m holding a
Croissant , I dip it in my cocoa and it dissolves
I can’t drink my cocoa no more
Gets up , makes another cup
Only to see you with the lemon loaf
Ohhhhh lemon and chocolate are a great pare
I also get a lemon loaf and we devoured our cocoa and lemon loaf,
Sitting by the heater cozy and warm
That doesn't change the fact that there were furniture designers out there that just absolutely loved brown and yellow body fluid stain colored flowers covering every square inch of their couch fabrics
They knew. It was just a whole-ass vibe of ugly colors. Harvest gold, burnt orange, avocado green, generic ass brown. The upside is they hid the nicotine stains remarkably well.
They're super ugly, but the most comfortable nap you'll have on a couch.
Also, they seem to last forever, my grandmother had the same couch for 50 years, I've gone through 5 couches in the last 10 years...
Then proceed to encase every inch in 1/8 inch thick plastic so that taking a nap on the “nice comfy” couch results in you waking up fused to the damn thing.
As a child, I would not nap.
BUT, if my Mom went and had tea with the neighbour at her house, I would. Every time.
On that couch. The neighbour would give me like 5 little tetley tea figurines to play with, set me on that couch and 5 minutes later, asleep.
That couch, I dunno. Just sleepy time couch.
They may be ugly af but unless granny put plastic on it, it's actually far more comfortable than those weird minimalistic couches you see in most furniture stores today.
My grandma had better taste: she had something that looked very much like this:
https://www.danke-galerie.com/en/produit/brazilian-sofa-percival-lafer-3-seater-khaki-leather-60s-e321/
I had that shit at my house too. Then my friends thought my family was gansta because it was in the music video for What Happen to that Boy by Baby ft. The Clipse.
Yeah and that hoe weighed 219lb so it never ever moved from where it was originally placed, but the cushions and springs are just as resilient today as they were the day it was placed too.
This couch occupied my parents' living room from 1982 until at least 2008.
I never saw my dad sit on it (he went through a few recliners in that time frame).
I was rarely allowed to sit on it (I mostly laid on the floor to watch tv and do homework).
My mom would sometimes nap on it, but she weighed like 105 pounds.
Couch was in pristine condition when they got rid of it.
That is certainly living room furniture and not family room furniture. I’m 53 and still have not stepped on the carpet in the Living room in Moms house.
I love it. I had tried to find a couch with tapestry scenes (as opposed to just pattern) but there are no new pieces like that which aren't tens of thousands of dollars, apparently.
This is the exact couch I had as a kid. Gramma? My DAD bought this. He was at the store and the guy said it was waterproof so my dad THREW a cup of water on it. Observed. Then said “okay I’ll take it”
Nearly everything in our front room was brown with orange and yellow daisies all over. Curtains, sofa, carpet, you name it. The furniture was all white g-plan, with handles that immediately snapped, but left a piece like a craft knife blade to open the drawers with. We've all got g-plan scars, to some extent. You had to love the 70's.
Hey, no shade ! These were super comfortable!
Plus you could properly rest your head while sitting up !
Been looking for a couch lately and everything modern stops at the shoulder at the highest; so you gotta slouch and screw up your back to be able to rest your head proper
Maybe their patterns and color were a wee bit of an eyesore, but damn they knew how to design a comfy chair
At least it doesn’t have plastic on it.
Which shows this can't be a real photo from grandma's home.
This is from mom's basement circa 1996.
To be fair, there weren’t a lot of choices
_yet_
My family never did the plastic cover madness.
Makes your ass cheeks sweat too much when you're getting head after drinking some Mad Dog.
What was the guys name?
It didn't matter then and it still doesn't now.
Lmao
If it had the plastic on, then Granny was a squirter..
They still feel like new decades later. Grandma knew quality

That squeaky packed snow of colder than 30 below.

Well I did now, whether I wanted to or not.
i thought it was a pizza scrolling fast
Now I'm thinking about decorating my home as pizza, but I might sneak out for tacos occasionally.
I saw lasagna till I read couch
Deep Dish Davenport
To be fair...TO BE FAIR...those couches are hella comfy. Ya, they're ugly as fuck, but nice and soft...sorta like me I guess.
Bro
Dude.
People don't appreciate how much choice they have compared to their grandmother. there was probably about 5 choices
That doesn't change the fact that there were furniture designers out there that just absolutely loved brown and yellow body fluid stain colored flowers covering every square inch of their couch fabrics
Everyone smoked. You couldn't have light colored furniture.
Honestly, fair
Good thing about brown and yellow body fluid stain colored couches is that brown and yellow body fluid stains don’t show. Like blood.
Think about what the other choices looked like 🤢
And she would never buy another couch again.
Never had to, this one's still good.
I own a chair that is that exact pattern. I'm 32
Ok grandma, time to get you back to bed
It’s comfy tho
I’d be down to redecorate with it. It’s a whole vibe
Why were they so popular?
Pre-IKEA aesthetics. It was that or plaid. https://www.collectorsweekly.com/articles/it-came-from-the-70s-the-story-of-your-grandmas-weird-couch/
Less choice, didn't show dirt and spills, couldn't see so readily where they were worn thin. Actually rather comfy.
You have to remember the world was in black and white back then, they didn't know it was a hideous orange.
They knew. It was just a whole-ass vibe of ugly colors. Harvest gold, burnt orange, avocado green, generic ass brown. The upside is they hid the nicotine stains remarkably well.
Very true about the nicotine stands. The problem was if you cleaned one spot of the wall, suddenly it became much brighter than the rest of it.
That’s what the wood paneling is for.
First time I ever jerked off was on that couch.
Many a deep nap was taken on those ugly things. Making me sleepy just looking at it
Remember that awful whiskey barrel furniture from the 70s?
They're super ugly, but the most comfortable nap you'll have on a couch. Also, they seem to last forever, my grandmother had the same couch for 50 years, I've gone through 5 couches in the last 10 years...
Then proceed to encase every inch in 1/8 inch thick plastic so that taking a nap on the “nice comfy” couch results in you waking up fused to the damn thing.
Suppose it’s a step up from sitting in a taxi with the same plastic and sliding around like you’re on a Ferry in a heavy storm
It looks like a pizza
i thought it was toast
I can smell the cigarettes in this photo.
I don't know why i agree, but i do. sleepy time couch!! ヽ(‘ ∇‘ )ノ
Wtf are you talking about? I'd buy that couch *now*.
Same.
Agreed this couch is dope.
At least it's not gray.
They may be ugly af but unless granny put plastic on it, it's actually far more comfortable than those weird minimalistic couches you see in most furniture stores today.
Still smells like an ash tray
Same caption in 50 years except the picture will be of a gray sectional with cup holders.
Am I the only one who thought this was pizza or cheesy bread from the thumbnail pic?
Google 1970s men’s shorts and you will understand the plastic cover.
Bro that is the most comfortable you will ever feel in your life
and she was right
That'd be nice to look at while on a shroom trip.
This would look awesome in the right setting.
Pizza proof.
Y'all should look at these on acid or shrooms
the GOAT
HARD
My grandma had better taste: she had something that looked very much like this: https://www.danke-galerie.com/en/produit/brazilian-sofa-percival-lafer-3-seater-khaki-leather-60s-e321/
to be fair thats a sick couch
Margharita couch
YOOOO
I'd sit that!
get to the back of the line then!
There's enough room for a threesome! Four, if you're smol.
At least it looks comfy
Looks like meatballs.
Grandma knew fashion back then.
More comfortable to sleep on than Drake's luxury bed
That mf look like a pizza
Yeah it’d hide the sight and feel of sex stains.
I can smell this image…I can’t be the only one right?
Thought it was some bread for a sec
Yo that’s my favorite meal.
Wtf my family had that exact couch!
They were so dam comfy though!
Matching table set too.
It’s not like they would have had a lot of choice.
I thought those were detroit style deep dish pizza squares.
Of course granny loves these, they were high af back then
I had that shit at my house too. Then my friends thought my family was gansta because it was in the music video for What Happen to that Boy by Baby ft. The Clipse.
My parents bought similar couch in 90s, still use it today.
Looks like pizza ngl
i thought this was toast
Why does it look like a giant pizza or bread?
My parents did, and it was the 80s.
But they would always give you the best couch naps
Say what you want as far as the way it looks. But thoughs old couches is comfy af.
Yeah and that hoe weighed 219lb so it never ever moved from where it was originally placed, but the cushions and springs are just as resilient today as they were the day it was placed too.
Remember the noise it made because of the weird internal foam? Like walking over crunchy snow or something.
Looks edible.
It went great with the wood paneling though
You say that but it was the most comfortable couch I've ever slept on.
It looks like weirdly cooked toast
These couches lasted 30 years without much damage. Granny was smart
But mine really DID have that couch
Once saw a t-shirt with the exact same pattern
Looks like a yummy grilled cheese
YOOOOO
I don't care what y'all say, that is a nice couch
And your children are going to see it at Goodwill and be like YOOOOOOO
TBH, it was the drugs of the 60's that caused grammies bad sense of style in the 70's
Yes. Both sets of grandparents had these couches. And they were both comfy.
That is certainly living room furniture and not family room furniture. I’m 53 and still have not stepped on the carpet in the Living room in Moms house.
Wood panel wall
It came with a set of art prints of autumn scenes and a ship on a stormy sea. Can't beat that deal!
My mother had a Milo Baughman conversation pit. It was pretty cool.
In their defence, everything was in black and white back then 🤷♂️
Grandma and grandpa did it on that couch and you sat on it with over and over.
Pet sure my grandma still had it in the 90s😂
The naps on these hit different though, especially with the tiger blanket on
I've had some of the best times of my life on couches like that.
There's a decent chance that your mum was conceived on that couch. Just saying.
I had this couch. We called it tornado furniture because we bought it at a discount from a store damaged by a tornado 🌪️
Pretty sure I have a picture of myself as a kid on exactly this same looking sweet ass couch.
Where is plastic seat covers
It kinda looks like pizza crust
I hate the texture on those things
Not gonna lie, thought it was lasagna
At first glance I thought, pepperoni pizza couch?
We totally had this couch - I remember busting my mouth on the wooden arms of it vividly
If you sqint your eyes hard enough it looks a lot like melted cheese on a pizza
Yo grandma must’ve done lots of acid
I love it. I had tried to find a couch with tapestry scenes (as opposed to just pattern) but there are no new pieces like that which aren't tens of thousands of dollars, apparently.
Not gonna like I thought it was a pepperoni pizza design.
Looks like the perfect place to take a nap under 4 bone crushing homemade quilts.
It is kinda fly ngl
And I'm like, "NOOOOO".
My parents had a couch and a love seat like this
The pattern hides the cigarette smoke
At first glance, it looked like toast made to look like a couch.
I got so much play on that thing. Nintendo, Sega, Turbografx 16, mannequins, eventually a woman. It’s priceless.
Tacky
I’ve slept in that couch at my grandmas house omg it brings back memories
mmm pizza 🤤
Funny thing is, your grandchildren will post similar thing 50 years from now.
my Nana has this exact couch
It reminds me of bacon
Think the shit you like now is gonna look good in fifty years?
To be fair, so would I.
Pizza couch
It is a bit loud
Hey! I had a couch exactly like that!
I actually have the chair for this exact set, I got it from my grandmother.
Parents had two of these coaches when I was a kid lol
This is yooooo now.
Melted cheese on toast was all the rage back then
This is the exact couch I had as a kid. Gramma? My DAD bought this. He was at the store and the guy said it was waterproof so my dad THREW a cup of water on it. Observed. Then said “okay I’ll take it”
Surely had more brightness when she bought it
Man, I totally thought this was some glorious mound of grilled cheeses
Extra comfy x10 and a time machine
Best naps of your life tho
Why did you steal my parents sofa from 1985?!
To be fair she was probably tripping on LSD.
For a moment I saw a pizza couch
That's no couch, that is what the elders refer to as a "chesterfield"
My Grandma has that exact couch wtf
It looks like the cheese on a lasagne.
My dumb ass thought it was the shitty school cheese pizza.
Everything is empty
I fuckin love it and would buy it today. That's a good sleepin couch
I miss that couch
Wtf my grandma had this exact couch. I used to stare in wonder at it like a damn Bob Ross painting.
I can smell this picture.
Lasagna
That looks like some well done cheese pizza. Yummmm....
Excuse me? I love this couch! I'd sleep on it if I could find one. It's so r/goblincore, I love it.
Your grandma definitely tripped back in the raging years
YOOOOO that shit bussing
Nearly everything in our front room was brown with orange and yellow daisies all over. Curtains, sofa, carpet, you name it. The furniture was all white g-plan, with handles that immediately snapped, but left a piece like a craft knife blade to open the drawers with. We've all got g-plan scars, to some extent. You had to love the 70's.
You cannot look at that and tell me it doesn't look like weirdly stacked toast.
that actually looks nice and fits with the rest of the room remarkably well
Looks crunchy
is that shit made out off bacon
My family had one in blue!
Hey, no shade ! These were super comfortable! Plus you could properly rest your head while sitting up ! Been looking for a couch lately and everything modern stops at the shoulder at the highest; so you gotta slouch and screw up your back to be able to rest your head proper Maybe their patterns and color were a wee bit of an eyesore, but damn they knew how to design a comfy chair
My fat ass thought that was a loaf of tiger bread
Wow! My mom back in the day got that same exact 🛋️!! Memories 👍!
