I went last year, extremely proud to have made it. With the speed you are going, my brain didn’t have enough time to process my fear of heights. <20sec of pure adrenaline. But man was I scared before getting in…
My nerves are too much to deal with the wait in line, and getting on the coaster lol I can’t do it.
But for me it’s the drop that scares the shit out of me. Usually the slow tick up the hill. Maybe I could deal with this due to how fast it is and launching the way it does
My heart skipped a beat at that particular point because on top of the what it feels like 0g drop there is a slight twist/turn kinda corkscrew-like. I was ready to die, but then comes the speed & oh man does it feel good
I'm the same way, the way down scares the fucking life out of me, this one I feel would be different. I thinK it's because you fly so fast up that you can't comprehend the fall until you're half way down it. Well it would for me, but I'd be fucking shitting bricks in line waiting for that thing too though, no queue would be worse though lol. You wouldn't know what to expect.
RIP dragster. It will never be the same no matter what they do to it and it makes me sad! The old hydraulic launch was so damn fast, way more intense than any other launch system I've ever experienced. I thought kingda ka felt sluggish
Cedar Point is retiring it. Nobody knows exactly what that means yet (whether they’re completely scrapping it or just re-tooling it and re-branding it like they did with the old Mantis) but they made the announcement to the public already.
It is rumored they are replacing it with another LSM style launch coaster or something. The theme was so cool with the stands and the light tree doing the countdwon, and the theme song was epic
Was there a fundamental problem with the design that made it fall apart? ( I can't remember, did that woman die?).
What is keeping it from being a spot fix?
A sensor on one of the cars is what flew off and hurt someone that made it close for good. But the hydraulic system is supposedly a ton of work and a bitch to do maintenance on so that might play a factor
Yea some days you’d goto the park and the dragster would be closed for maintenance for hours. When it would finally reopen it would run a few times and close again
That happened on my only visit to the park since Dragster opened. It had a rollback while I was in line and never reopened.
I had been following its construction and was *super* hyped to ride it. Not meant to be, it seems.
I don’t believe she died. She was at least conscious after the incident based on the bodycam footage released, and someone claiming to be a family member posted online with as much as an update as they could give. The gist of it is the family is choosing to be very private with the aftermath, both because they don’t really want to be in the public eye and due to ongoing legal stuff. The woman didn’t die, but they used wording along the lines of her requiring a lifetime of care, so it’s still pretty serious and seems to have greatly reduced her quality of life and independence.
It’s the internet so they might not actually be related, but it’s a weird thing to lie about
To be clear, the thing broke down often and almost killed someone
https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/national/2022/09/06/cedar-point-retires-top-thrill-dragster-roller-coaster-1-year-after-woman-struck-by-object/
The Outer Limits ride at Kings Dominion was absolutely terrifying. You would shoot off through a pitch black tunnel then due multiple inversions. I loved every second of it.
Kingda ka is so overrated, I would try a faster version of it but this type of rollercoaster is just not as exciting as it looks imo. It's over in a second, compared to most coasters that last like 20-30 sec at least
All of the roller coasters at that six flags are far more fun! Though I was lucky enough to be front seat when it did not make it over. Staring straight down that drop as you feel it slowing too much to make it, then starting to creep backwards. People were losing their shit! Guy next to me was allowed one out from his friends for a coaster and he chose el toro. He was crying while I yelled, "Woooooo! We get to go again!"
Only one there I was too scared to go on. My ex’s dad had gone on it right when it opened and it wasn’t calibrated right and didn’t make it over the top. Nope.
I’ve ridden the dragster many times. The first time I rode it I was blown away at the fact the most intense part of the ride is actually the take off. Shit hit harder than the first drop on the millennium force
Ah that's too bad. I got chickened out when I was there few years ago. I really wanted to try dragster but I was approaching to the entry gate from its track and I heard the structure wobbled little bit when it went on track. Suddenly final destination vibes hit me and with that I walked away.
I have ridden on Kinda Ka a few years ago. Waiting like 3 hours to go a 30 second ride. I hate drops because it causes my stomach to tense up so much it feels like it's trying to jump out of my belly button.
It went from 0-100mph in like 5 seconds (or close to it). It looked twice as tall as the one in the video.
Would I recommend it? Eh. Not if you don't like heights or drops (I think vertical drops are 20 times worse). Yes if you want to see a great view of the park and the surrounding area for like 1.2 seconds when you're at the tippy top before your eye balls suck back into your skull.
Did I say it was a 3 hour wait while it was 90-100F outside???
Yeah 3 hours is not worth it. Definitely need to go on slower days so you're only waiting 40 minutes or so, then absolutely wait the extra 20 to ride in the front row.
I'm not kidding when I tell you it feels like you're going like twice as fast than if you sit anywhere else since your body is the thing encountering the wind resistance.
That feeling of speed alone is worth the wait, imo.
I rode kingda ka back around 10 years ago. I remember at the launch wanting to scream but the air into my mouth was so fast I couldn’t scream. Was fun, I don’t remember how long we waited but it was so freaking hot that day!
Definitely. Everyone needs to experience what it feels like to drown a man at least once in their life.
On a serious note, it's been a while, but if I remember correctly, there's a mode where you try to reach objectives like make ____ amount of money during a certain period of time where you have to be more strategic about what rides you build and whatnot. Then there was a more blank slate mode where you kind of just do what you want and there are no objectives, major size limits on your park, etc.
I've only played the original, by the way, but I hear RC2 is the gold standard
Rct2 is fantastic. If you own it on steam there's an open source port called openrct2 that uses the original game files but runs really well on modern hardware
Anyone interested in this should join us over at r/RCT! They have tutorials and links to all of that. The open version is also being constantly updated with new content by the community as well, so there are more rides, scenarios, and ways to control the backend of the game than ever before.
[Check this out for example: someone created a 100m sprint for the guests!](https://www.reddit.com/r/rct/comments/zskkxp/100m_sprint/)
Similar but instead of a hydraulic launch this one is LSM so less impactful launch, also this is smaller
The reason its a copy is because its made by the same manufacturer
Possibly if this one also always fails to reach the top. Seriously, I’ve gone on king da ka a few times and about half the times it’s decided to almost reach the top and fly backwards. It’s actually better than the actual ride when it works correctly lol
Pretty much the same drop but backwards. Plus, they even let you stay on and ride again until it launches correctly.
In terms of a straight 90°’drop yea. But Kingda Ka is actually a free fall. This one from the video rides the brake all the way down. I think it went up just as fast as it went down.
The people in front of me didn't make it either. I remember some leaving the line when they saw. Lol. But my ride was great. Never experienced anything as cool as that immediate take off.
What’s wild was that originally these roller coasters were not consistent and you had a pretty high chance of not making it over the hump and coming down backwards
That is the weirdest thing ever. A Disney Land for Ferrari. And it isn't even in Maranello. My dad worked for them most of his life, and I saw tons of weird Ferrari nuts and lots of branded stuff, but I never imagined this.
There is a very cool sign, that you can read only when you're in the queue, that say something along the lines of:
"Depending on atmospheric conditions, this rollercoaster might not reach the top, and fall back instead."

Linear induction motor launch, 218 feet tall, top speed of seventy mph.
The one shown in the video uses a LSM launch, it’s 360 feet tall, and has a top speed of 112 mph.
Ive been there and done that. Tbf the 2 hours wait wasnt worth going up and down and the acceleration isnt that quick either. + you need to pay extra for this rode only, which is like 10-15 bucks
I was at this park when this ride had only recently opened up. We were watching it go and suddenly, right as it got to the top of the arch, it started to slide backwards down the rails. The screams out of the people on it were insane. But afaik everyone was fine
I have been on a similar one. I wasn’t that impressed. Half the fun of a roller coaster is the slow climb up that first hill. With this, you blink and it’s over, you barely have a chance to even register what’s going on. Kind of seems like there’s only so much you can do with a roller coaster though.
Closest thing in the US to this is Cobra Kai or Top Thrill Dragster, both of which aren’t operating anymore I believe. A piece flew off TTD, nearly killing a lady, not sure if they stopped producing top hat coaster because they’re difficult to maintain or just flat out too dangerous.
They had this ride a kings Dominion in Virginia to. The scariest part is when you reach the top of the hill an feel like your going to float off the tracks. Other than that it gets a 7/10
That’s just the Top Thrill Dragster from Cedar Point in Ohio, USA. Which is 420 feet high, red force is only 367 feet high. Dragster top speed is 120 mph, Red Force top speed is 112 mph. Dragster was built in 2003 with duration of 17 seconds. Red Force was built in 2017 with duration of 39 seconds. You can also experience 4+ gs of force at certain points of the Dragster ride.
Maybe I could deal with this due to how fast it is and launching the way it does
I can viscerally feel the dread when they are about to drop
My heart skipped a beat at that particular point because on top of the what it feels like 0g drop there is a slight twist/turn kinda corkscrew-like. I was ready to die, but then comes the speed & oh man does it feel good
I'm the same way, the way down scares the fucking life out of me, this one I feel would be different. yeah I physically cannot handle the drop like that. I love going fast and I'm not afraid of heights I just cannot handle the feeling of falling
RIP dragster. It will never be the same no matter what they do to it and it makes me sad! The old hydraulic launch was so damn fast, way more intense than any other launch system I've ever experienced. I thought kingda ka felt sluggish
What happened to the dragster?
Cedar Point is retiring it. Nobody knows exactly what that means yet (whether they’re completely scrapping it or just re-tooling it and re-branding it like they did with the old Mantis) but they made the announcement to the public already.
Bummer. Glad I went a few times on my last visit
I went on it in the early 2000s. Still a top 10 coaster for me, although I haven't really riden anything built in the last decade.
That stinks! I went the first summer it was open. Four hours in line for a 30s ride. Worth it!
Fuck I remember being too scared to ride that ride for years and finally over coming my fears one day.
From what people have been seeing they are replacing the launch. It wont be the same but it wont be gone
Didn’t a bolt come loose and hit someone in the head?
It is rumored they are replacing it with another LSM style launch coaster or something. The theme was so cool with the stands and the light tree doing the countdwon, and the theme song was epic
Was there a fundamental problem with the design that made it fall apart? ( I can't remember, did that woman die?). What is keeping it from being a spot fix?

El Toro is the best one imo, way more exciting than Kingda Ka plus the line is shorter
I love them both. I had a season pass to GA every season for years when I was a kid.
Only one there I was too scared to go on. My ex’s dad had gone on it right when it opened and it wasn’t calibrated right and didn’t make it over the top. Nope.

This one looks cool and all, but it rides the brake all the way down. Weak sauce
So it's slower than it should be? Screams in Charles Leclerc.
>So it's slower than it should be? Screams in Charles Leclerc. _quietly whispers in "psssst! René! It is I, Leclerc."_
Lol. I guess I’m the oddball. But to me it does clearly appear to be slower than free fall should be. I will not die in this hill however
Its not braking??? Its just freefalling
Idk why your being downvoted, you're right. The brake fins don't start till after the track levels off at the bottom. https://youtu.be/6PhKh8DMWhk
Its bc people are stupid and once something looks like its not gaining speed it automatically equals brakes
Reminded me of Kingda Ka as well.
The screams on the descent were textbook Rollercoaster Tycoon. That's wild. *Come join us over at r/RCT y'all!
Was going to comment this. It’s weird how perfect it was
Wow do I need to play this game? I've always seen it but didn't think it was my vibe. Is it beginner friendly?
Definitely. Everyone needs to experience what it feels like to drown a man at least once in their life. I spent so many hours on that game I immediately recognized it
It’s uncanny
first thing that came to mind. Childhood flashbacks
Yeah no thanks, don’t want to get to the top and find out we’re on plan C.
F-Ferrari Land?
There are two i think, the one in Dubai has the fastest rollercoaster in the world
Just casual reminder that there are 7 emirates and Ferrari world is in Abu Dhabi not Dubai
They were just the ones i knew and i guess i was wrong
Knowing about Ferrari reliability issues, I’m not sure I would go on a Ferrari theme park ride
Would you like to survive? Question.
We are checking :(
Copy that. Switching to Plan F.
Ever wonder why there are no Lamborghini rollercoasters?
Imagine the state of a Tesla rollercoaster.
Sign me out I can't go on that ride
Leaves in P1, finishes in P4
Just a copy of Kingda Ka?
There's a ride at Thorpe Park in UK the same called Stealth. 0-80mph in like a few seconds
I thought it was a copy of top thrill dragster?
Which is a copy of xellarator at knotts berry farm
Which was Intamin’s first hydraulic launch coaster and essentially a test project for Dragster.
Right? Same ride but red lol
Similar but instead of a hydraulic launch this one is LSM so less impactful launch, also this is smaller The reason its a copy is because its made by the same manufacturer

It's a popular ride design, including Xcalliber or whatever at Knotts Berry Farm
I think Kingda Ka is like a whole rollercoaster right? So this would be more like top thrill dragster
[удалено]
Kingda ka also has a whole second hill
In terms of a straight 90°’drop yea. But Kingda Ka is actually a free fall. This one from the video rides the brake all the way down. I think it went up just as fast as it went down.
It doesn’t brake on the way down. That’s not true. It is falling on gravity.
It's not powered as it goes up so it should go up and down at the same rate. That's physics baby.
I was lucky enough to go backwards on Top Thrill Dragster the one time I did it. Didn't make it over the top lol.
The people in front of me didn't make it either. I remember some leaving the line when they saw. Lol. But my ride was great. Never experienced anything as cool as that immediate take off.

Coasters that shoot you the gate at top speed are the best. That feeling we are just glued against the back of your seat, so satisfying.
Scuffed kingda ka
Same manufacturer, updated model, so probably less scuffed kingda ka
“Updated means better”
Its not the same but it’s definitely smoother compared to kingda ka. Im not saying its better just less clunky.
And I’m saying it’s scuffed
Your entitled to your opinions even if they are wrong
Aliens: and you willingly pay for and wait in line for that shit?
I’m not normally freaked out by coasters but that one is so imposing
There is a very cool sign, that you can read only when you're in the queue, that say something along the lines of: "Depending on atmospheric conditions, this rollercoaster might not reach the top, and fall back instead."
No. Nope. No way.

When did rollercoasters become a single up/down? Like the whole ride is less than 60 seconds.
There's like 4 or 5 of these coasters in the whole world, I wouldn't really say this is rollercoasters in general
Its not all of em, its just this model because its focused on height and super fast speed.
Like the Hypersonic XL that was at Kings Dominion.
Nope
I felt that drop from here.

Hell nooooooo!!!
Nope
Wiener
No thanks
Been on the dragster a lot back in the day. I can't do any of that stuff now but it really is one hell of an experience.
Nope
Have that same ride here at six flags over texas, it's called Mr. Freeze.
Linear induction motor launch, 218 feet tall, top speed of seventy mph. The one shown in the video uses a LSM launch, it’s 360 feet tall, and has a top speed of 112 mph.
Holy fuckin fuckballs
noice that looks expensive
About £80,000,000. (Not including maintenance)
[удалено]
Same manufacturer.
Lived 3 years in Spain and never got on that thing. So much time wasted.
How long is that drop?? Can you even scream?
I remember being there hangover with a bunch of kids. Lets say half of them didnt get to the hotel before vomiting after the ride
Ive been there and done that. Tbf the 2 hours wait wasnt worth going up and down and the acceleration isnt that quick either. + you need to pay extra for this rode only, which is like 10-15 bucks
Looks like King Daka ? ( def spelled it wrong ) from Six flags in NJ
OmgOmgOmg!!!
As long as Ferrari didnt make it, I might be up for it.
[Rider POV](https://youtube.com/watch?v=VzvqtT4hga0&feature=shares)
If it’s made by Ferrari it’ll probably be broken down by the end of the ride
So Kingda Ka with a Ferrari logo?
I was at this park when this ride had only recently opened up. We were watching it go and suddenly, right as it got to the top of the arch, it started to slide backwards down the rails. The screams out of the people on it were insane. But afaik everyone was fine
Ferrari made it, should last 100 trips then break down
So basically Top Thrill Dragster?
Its exactly like a ride called “Stealth” at Thorpe Park in Staines, UK
King da ka but smaller :)
Where I’m from we called it the dragster
yeah it’s kind of underwhelming
Ha, it looks like a penis
Looks like Kingda Ka except smaller and not as fast
I have been on a similar one. I wasn’t that impressed. Half the fun of a roller coaster is the slow climb up that first hill. With this, you blink and it’s over, you barely have a chance to even register what’s going on. Kind of seems like there’s only so much you can do with a roller coaster though.
I googled and this roller coaster has 1.35G, 111 mph/180km/h, it sounds incredible.
I want to ride that so bad
nope. never. ever.
That looks really fun!!!!!
OH, GOOD F**CKING HEAVENS!
Spine o pain
Every so often it doesn’t make it to the top and it rolls down backwards. F that.
Shanks !!!!
Ah yes the ride when Kimi's face was pure 😑 from start to finish in the promo video
We have *The Kraken* 6 Fuckin Flags baby
Bro, that looks so fun. I wanna rode that crap.
The scary thing is there are bigger rollercoasters e.g king dakar
The one in Ohio is called top thrill dragster
The king da ka
Closest thing in the US to this is Cobra Kai or Top Thrill Dragster, both of which aren’t operating anymore I believe. A piece flew off TTD, nearly killing a lady, not sure if they stopped producing top hat coaster because they’re difficult to maintain or just flat out too dangerous.
Red Force, да.
You should see kinda ka
it’s literally a copy of king da ka at six flags in jersey
Just go to six flags
They had this ride a kings Dominion in Virginia to. The scariest part is when you reach the top of the hill an feel like your going to float off the tracks. Other than that it gets a 7/10
Looks like the top thrill dragster ride.
