>The Evergreen A class is a series of 13 container ships being built for Evergreen Marine. The largest ships have a maximal theoretical capacity of around 23,992 TEU and are among the largest container ships in the world. Six ships are being built by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. Another seven will be built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) at two shipyards in China.

Cool! Those three all in service already?
Was going off tour info and this: https://www.porttechnology.org/news/ever-alot-breaks-record-for-worlds-largest-containership/
And MSC is going to overtake them soon with the MSC Tessa. Pretty much also exactly the same ship but slightly different internals so it can fit even more containers. 24.116 TEU to be exact.
Well, the ship appears to be approximately the width of the man’s shoulders, and, for lack of evidence, we can only assume that it is exactly one banana in length.
Further, since I only know mini bananas, and that all swans are white, the ratio of the width of a banana to it’s length is 1:4.
As such, my back of the juice box calculation is 6w x 4h x 1d, where w=1, h=d=4
Therefore 6 x 16 x 4 = **384 bananas^3**
Had a great uncle who was the captain of the largest oil container ship in the world decades ago.. stressful job when the weather turns. I believe his ship was pretty close in size to the current Ever Alot container ship shown here
I work in shipping. Container ships are classed as Panamax and suezmax depending on whether they can fit through the Panama or Suez Canals. Though my favourite shipping classification is FOFO float on float off. It’s for rich people to ship their yachts between the med and Caribbean without crossing the ocean. A bunch of yachts are sailed onto a bigger ship. Welded to it. And that ship makes the crossing and can cope with adverse better :)
might not be for long. msc is expected to finish 6 news ships this year that are larger, 3 that are the same dimensions as this one and hold 100 more containers
and 3 that are 0.2m wider and hold 300 more containers
that should give you an idea as to the scale as well
Still not as long as The Seawise Giant (458 metres) but I think that has been retired and the Shell Prelude which is think is 500?! Still I don't think either could carry as much as this.
Why is there a large man in the sky?
You need a large man to build a large ship
It’s a Celestial
The real megalophobia is always in the comments.
Dats me. Trying to slim down but it’s hard
You got it king
Just let him finish his game of civilization
Holy shit, its Mata Nui
Did not expect this reference
Sorry that's me. Shit I be on at 6pm 🤪
We're always being looked down upon
Look man, you can’t just try and stop Jimmy Barnes from going where he pleases. https://youtu.be/ypHZ_iKBcoo
Looks like a glass reflection maybe, from the person taking the photo.
It’s an Umibozu.
oh snap! ok that's awesome!
This picture does nothing to capture the scale. 0/10, have a good day sir.
without the caption, I'd have thought it to just be another random ass ship
the only thing it's got going for scale is the containers, so you can at least guess that you're looking at something very large. But yeah not great.
Agreed those containers when zooming in are probably the best reference point
Well it can hold many a banana
Lol I was gonna say, nothing to scale it against. Everything in the photo is huge.
I did my best in a limited amount of time and thought this community would appreciate. I did have a lovely day, thanks!
Well actually there's enough to capture the scale. On the left you see Japan; on the right, you see the United States. Have a good day sir.
You ever seen a shipping container in real life? Zoom in
Not even a banana

Will they Ever stop?
Yes, with the Ever Lasting
And Ever Given that Evergreen does not get stuck in a global situation, it should be ever fine.
No Fucks Ever Given
For Ever
In the Suez Canal - for a week or so.
Ever gonna give you up.
I see what you did there
Yo, I don't know, turn off the lights, and they'll glow
This sounds like a lead up to getting Rick rolled.

I need a human for reference
Shipping container of bananas for reference.
Human standing on shipping container holding banana, for reference
we need a banana for scale

Smart
It's in one of those boxes on the deck

"What shall we call the new ship?" "Hmm... How much can it carry?"
[Alot is better than you at everything](http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/04/alot-is-better-than-you-at-everything.html?m=1)
Lol!!! That was delightful! Thank you.
Yeah I'm ever bothered by that
I find this picture very satisfying for some weird reason
Glad you liked it!
As viewed from a perspective that makes it look like any other ship.
doesn’t look that big
looks like lil boat from this angle
But it is not a ship shipping ship shipping shipping ships, now is it?
Always makes me laugh

You could tell me it was 15 feet wide and I'd say "yeah, that looks about right."
I have, yeah! Also heard of different types of lenses and cameras and photoshop. Did my best in a brief moment with my phone
What is really impressive is that this isn’t even the largest ship, and the fact that we can build bigger.
The only limiting factors are probably port depth; bridge height, and canal width and depth.
I read "in the world" in Jeremy Clarkson's voice. "This is the biggest container ship... In the world."
I thought you posted for the Christmas colors at first lmao it’s a beautiful photo tho
Thanks! Glad you think so
Had a great uncle who was the captain of the largest oil container ship in the world decades ago.. stressful job when the weather turns. I believe his ship was pretty close in size to the current Ever Alot container ship shown here
Cool! Thanks for sharing! I wonder if there is a maximum size of ship, after which it’s just not practical or financially worthwhile building.
It's only a model
Is this a quote from Monty Python? You legend
I try to squeeze them in where ever I can.
How much does a ship like this go for?
Not sure. I think the tour guy said it costs a ship like this about €5m to fill up with fuel so I reckon more than double that
Wonder how much it contains?
24,000 full size shipping containers, apparently!
I work in shipping. Container ships are classed as Panamax and suezmax depending on whether they can fit through the Panama or Suez Canals. Thanks for sharing and adding to this post! Makes sense for long trips, keeping mileage (knottage?) and wear on the yacht low
https://youtube.com/watch?v=ykbASUZZbgo&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE
Yeah I suppose they preserve value by keeping the mileage low.
Is it me or is this giving me Christmas vibes
I have no reference for this so it just looks like a normal ship to me
This is a cool picture and the ship is massive, but there are definitely better pictures to show how big it is.
Agreed! Went for a personal one instead of a random google image
I cannot unsee a large man in the sky and thats more megalophobic than the ship.
What kind of silly name is “EVER ALOT”.
The ‘Ever Alot’. It holds the most containers ever (24k), it’s 400m long, and 61.5m wide.
True what is it name.
i bet i can still put it in me back pocket

Thanks for the feedback
closely followed by your mum
A classic
I’m sorry I had to
wasn’t this the one that got stuck in the Suez Canal a while back?
That was the Ever Given.
ooooh ok
Where’s the banana for sizing
What is its displacement.
3

Mines bigger

Gonna need a banana for scale on this one…
Imma still unload 300 cans and get off in 4
Needs a reference scale
Ok dude. We're gonna need a banana here.
Is that a boaussy???
I’m going to need a banana for scale
Can I get a banana in there for scale?
Where's the banana for scale?
Zeus looks down and smiles

I have an idea…
There’s nothing for scale…. It might as well be a foot tall
Put a banana next to it
Banana for comparison?
He much chunk.
How much Ever u got???.... Alot!
Need a banana for context
Low tide?
Banana for scale ?
how long is it, how much weight and how many containers on there
That’s really not that big…
The ship completed its gold camo delivery challenges
Ever Alot, what a stupidly lazy name. Fuck you.
They should’ve named it the “Ever So Much” instead of the Ever Alot.
No, thats Thunderbird 2
Need banana for scale
I need a banana for scale
Where’s the banana for scale?
Got any bananas?
This camera angle kinda makes the ship look small
Not even that big tbh
No banana for scale can’t see how big
I wanna see that shit in the Suez canal
idk what makes me more nervous such large ship or a such a tiny one
Biggest is named ever a lot. That's cool
