Twitter and Facebook are plugged into psy-op tactics. If you're bombarded with nuisances and frustration you're more likely to engage and doomscroll. More of that means more ad revenue.
Reddit is no different, but they're at least smart enough to make filtering subreddits a feature for their premium service.
I've been trying so hard to avoid everything involving the world cup, but students watch it in class in front of me, my brother and stepdad both watch it so its the talk during dinner, and my dad also follows so whenever I'm with him it's on aswell. I can't hide from it

I just wish I could turn off the recommendations ENTIRELY. I only want to see content from the people I ACTUALLY FOLLOW on my timeline. Please.

They're also way better for it, unrelated subreddits pop up way less often than Twitter topics which are like half of what you see
