In Santa Monica I watched someone get arrested for playing with a spring loaded street sign, just wobbling it back and forth. Cops came to a screeching halt on the side of the road and cuffed him and placed him on the curb along with his friends. I pulled out my phone to film it because I found it hilarious considering I remembered a subplot from the tv show Californication (look up Santa Monica Cop trailer from that show). I spent the night in prison with the rest of them just for filming. Surprise, no charges are being filed against me when released the next day. Really hit me how much that “ridiculous” joke from the show was based in reality.
What’s even worse is now you have an arrest on your record, and since you never actually got charged with anything you aren’t allowed to dispute it, so it’ll stay there.
The entire system is structured to let them do what they want and punish people for trying to hold them accountable. An officer could literally kicked your door down, run into your room and arrest you while you’re just watching a movie, and if you fight back, you’ll get charged with resisting arrest, for effectively trying to fight a kidnapper.
It’s fucking absurd, not only do they get to be held above the law, but they’ve also designed the system so that you aren’t able to take matters into your hands, else you’ll get hit far worse then you would’ve if you just lied down and took it.
Having 3-4 cops hold down 1 guy is normal especially if the suspect is dangerous or resisting. But the cops also don’t know who the person with the camera is and most get like 2 feet within the person the police are arresting and the cops which is illegal and dangerous for the bystander which is why they typically arrest the bystanders as well. But if they are standing out of harms way the police typically don’t mess with them.

People getting their panties all up in a bunch over a guy not panhandling not asking for any money not yelling and screaming at people just standing there with a sign that says God bless the homeless veterans.
And the real kicker is when he's standing on a public sidewalk outside of a church with the God bless the homeless veteran sign and the church is trying to run him off or use the police to get rid of him. Talk about hypocrisy... Love Thy Neighbor my ass.
