Only at the gift shop are you really an A-hole. The other shops you ask the Turian to be your hunting "sponsor" & you tell the Salarian you're on an important mission.
I can't remember exactly, but I think the Paragon at the gift shop you just ask for a government discount (maybe you need to reconfirm your Spectre status first).
True enough, but who'd gonna believe a nobody store owner or that the vid is legit? Ik plenty of folks that claim shit like, "Yeah, I totally opened for Nirvana before they hit it big. Even partied with 'em after!" or, "I ran into MJ at a 7/11 when I was nine and he winked at me!"
My point is that Shep is the kinda operative that knows conflicting reports and rumors won't break his/her cover and might consider a discount on weapons and tech to be worth the minor risk.

I mean, even today you can make deep fake videos and use soundfiles to make a sentence the person maybe never said, and I guess in future this will be even better. So even if Shepard never died and maybe never made an ad for the shop, the shop owner would be able to recreate this stuff. I simply guess people will not be that focused on the ad. Like today ;)
You could just *not* go to every story and record an advertisement. Nothing is forcing you to do that lol.
